Darkephoenix: I love things involving the hotbot too! Unfortunately, my pairing is kinda cute, but leaves him rather wanting. I hope everyone likes it anyway. I read and reviewed! Very nice plot twist. DUM DUM DUMMM I love doing that randomly and getting weird looks from people. *creams herself* HOTSPRINGS! Mmmm..... naked Tsuzuki....MMMMMM NAKED WATARI..... *dies from an overload of beautiosity* Yeah, I'm just finishing that volume up. I'm on the chapter with the catholic boys' school and the sex scandal and Tsuzuki's just admitted to having a gay crush and now I'M totally crushed, but aroused all at the same time! DUM DUM DUMMMM! I haven't been getting along with my fiance much lately and he's my anime hook up, so I haven't been able to get it yet. Apparently he's too busy to have much of anything to do with me or answer his phone, but he has time for his game programming club. But that's not an excuse for me to be looking at all my pretty anime boys.... Whatever.... oops! i started whining. Moving along. I just finished finals, so I know what you mean about school and work! Good luck surviving both as I know it can be a chore! And FINALLY, since I'm sure you're tired of my babbling, ask and ye shall receive ;) I can't resist your flattery, my dear:
Chapter 15: I Remember You
Think you can name the song?
Alex sat at her usual perch on top of the gazebo in the gardens, her eyes on the sky, her player blaring in her ears. When she couldn’t find Abel she resorted to her usual haunt, waiting for him to come to her. She closed her eyes and smiled as she felt Abel’s approach. He’d been abused at dinner by Cendricus’s glares and snide comments, but ignored the young man’s bitter manner. Alex had sharply chastised her son and finally won his silence, but not before everyone at the table had grown quite uncomfortable with the young man’s quiet brooding. Integra had leveled a glare at her son as though she wanted nothing more than to slap him, and Alex had found it quite hard not to do precisely that herself. The only thing that ever stayed her hand was the memory of her Mother’s frightening expression as she landed her own hateful blows. Abel finally came to a stop at the base of the gazebo and waited patiently to be acknowledged. She turned the player off and waved her hand, beckoning him to join her. He jumped and landed gracefully next to her, laying back and looking up, mimicking her.
“Sorry about dinner.”
“You’re not the one that wants me dead.” Abel chuckled, but it wasn’t his rumbly chuckle and Alex knew he was trying to cover up his own sense of defeat. “At least, I hope not.”
“Don’t say things like that, Abel. I never wanted you dead.”
“I know.” Abel’s quiet voice held some measure of relief. She smiled and turned to look at him, taking in his profile. After a few quiet moments, he turned to find her staring at him almost longingly. “What are you thinking, Alex?”
“I’m thinking that you’re just as handsome as the first time we met.” Abel smiled at her, his eyes traveling over her face. “What are you thinking?”
“Nothing in particular. Being near you tends to overwhelm me and I never really think of anything specific.”
“I’m overwhelming, huh?” Alex rolled onto her side, propping herself up on an elbow. Abel turned to look at her and fought the urge to reach out and pull her against his chest.
“The fact that you allow me to be near you is overwhelming. You are overwhelming in your capacity to forgive.”
“Wouldn’t amazing be a better word? Fabulous? Splendid? Breathtaking?” Abel smiled at her ploy.
“You are all of those things and more, Alexandra.” Alex blushed beautifully and Abel let loose a sigh unconsciously. Alex reached out to pull his glasses from his face.
“Aurora seems to have taken to you well.” Abel smiled at her as she played with his silver bangs, not unlike Aurora had done earlier that day.
“Yes, and I’m taken with her. She is absolutely precious, Alex.”
“She’s right about the rumbly chuckle, too.” Alex winked as Abel chuckled right on cue. “Ilarius seems to be eager to spend time with you, though he seems afraid to incur his brother’s wrath by doing so.”
“So, Ilarius isn’t the more influential twin then?”
“Ilarius is the one that thinks ahead, studies, he comes off to others as the more intelligent of the two, but they are quite evenly matched. Cendricus is laid back, never studies. Things just come to him so easily. He uses his image as a slacker to his advantage. People expect little of him, or at least less of him than his brother, so that when he proves them wrong, he takes immense satisfaction in something he knew to be true all along. They are so very alike. They are never apart. I can’t get them to separate for anything, though they fight quite a bit.”
“Sounds terribly familiar.” Alex gave Abel a look of dread.
“That’s what worries me.”
“He won’t be like Cain, Alex. Not if you’re here. All of your children love you dearly and look up to you. You have taught them to love and be kind hearted.”
“Yeah. I lucked out; all my children are good kids.”
“I’m sure they had an excellent teacher to show them how to be a good person.” Alex shook her head as Abel kept trying to pin her with the credit.
“They learned it from Hugue.”
“Hugue was a good man, and undoubtedly a good Father, but you are their Mother, Alexandra. Nobody influences a child like their Mother.” Alex didn’t know what to say, and settled for shaking her head. “You are an excellent Mother, Alex.”
“Thank you.” Alex found herself somewhat speechless and so, fell silent, closing her eyes. Abel’s fingers brushed against her cheek and she leaned into his hand, sighing contentedly. “Abel.” Alex’s brows furrowed a little, her cheek heating against his palm. Swallowing a groan, Abel’s hand slipped around to the nape of her neck, rubbing gently.
“Yes, Alexandra?” Abel shifted next to her, coming closer until his warm breath ghosted over her ear. Alex felt exhilarated and nervous all at once and fought the urge to shove him away. Her struggle resulted in her trembling and Abel pulled her against his chest, rubbing her back soothingly until the trembling subsided some.
“I don’t know.” Abel kissed her gently, tenderly, his other hand sliding around her waist.
“What is there to know, Alexandra?”
“I don’t know what to do anymore.”
“Do what you feel is right, Alex.” Abel stilled his hands, leaning his forehead against hers. He realized that, as usual when he got so close to her, his desires were taking precedence over her comfort level and he tried to reign it in before he scared her off again. To his surprise, she pressed herself fully against him, her hands threading into his hair, removing the tie as she went.
“I never feel one thing at once anymore. I want to push you away, I want you to hold me. I want to disappear.” Alex’s voice was tremulous, but her fingers danced over his scalp, igniting a lovely fire in his belly.
“Just breath and try to relax. If you want to pull away, pull away. You will never disappear again, though. You will always be here, Alex. We are your family and we will never let you fall into the wrong hands again.” Alex released a rather ragged sigh against his neck, her arms wrapping tightly around his neck. He held her just as tightly, his hands gripping her trim waist. Abel held her thus until her trembling died away all together and he could feel her nervous energy melting away.
“How can you stand me?”
“Stand you? I want you with every piece of my soul.” Abel pulled back to gawk at her, his expression of dismay almost comical. Alex shook her head, looking sheepish.
“Why though... After everything that happened, I don’t see--”
“Alex, don’t.” She looked at him as he leaned over her a little intimately, a pout painting her features as his hair curtained around them.
“Are we never to speak of it then? Should we just ignore it, pretend it never happened?” Abel looked wounded and miserable at her words.
“No, love. That isn’t what I meant. I don’t want you to be needlessly upset by dredging up old pain. You don’t need to explain it, or justify it to me or yourself. I know what I missed. I know my mistake. I realized it to late and I paid the price. No, I haven’t paid nearly enough. You don’t know how I’ve beat myself up in your absence. You don’t know how many nights I wondered how my boy was, how many nights I wanted just to hold you. I missed out on so very much, and all because of my own stupidity. I had no one to blame but myself.” Alex looked up into his bright blue eyes and felt the weight of his years hidden behind them. She suddenly felt terrible for having denied him the chance to know his child. “Can you forgive me, Alex? Can you forgive me my trespasses, all the pains I caused you?”
“Abel.” Alex’s eyes brimmed with tears as she looked up at him, her heart warming a great deal, her pain ebbing in light of his. She cupped his face in her hands and watched his face crumple as his own tears rose to the surface. “I already have.”
Abel pulled her into a crushing embrace and they held each other as though a second Armageddon had come and threatened to wrench them apart. Alex cried quietly into Abel’s hair as he sat up and pulled her into his lap. He rocked her gently, letting a few tears fall himself.
“Alexandra, I have missed you so.”
“I’m sorry, Abel. I’m so sorry.” Abel shook his head and pulled back to kiss her, catching her blood tears on a finger. She watched as he slipped the tip of his finger into his mouth, his gaze resting on her intensely. She pushed him backwards slightly, sliding into his lap.
“Show me your true self.” Alex’s voice had taken on a deeper, sultry, timbre that made Abel’s heart skip a beat. He pulled her close as she wrapped her legs around his waist, whispering in her ear.
“Crusnik 02, output: sixty percent, activate.” Alex shuddered deeply as his warm words tickled her ear. His midnight wings unfolded behind him, his fangs protruded slightly over his lower lip and his hair came to life. Alex was quick to summon her own Crusnik form and tuck her own wings in to give him room for his. She leaned in and kissed him deeply, raking her tongue against his fang a little deeply. As she slipped her tongue into his mouth he suckled on the offering, groaning in the back of his throat. He held her painfully close, his claws digging into her back. Alex arched beautifully under his touch, breaking away from his lips to gasp. Shuddering, she ran her fingers over the junction of Abel’s wing and back, smiling as he groaned quietly.
“We’re as bad as teenagers.” Alex tried to hide her blush as the words left her lips. Abel chuckled and Alex’s face scrunched at the strange sound, wondering if she sounded that weird to others in her Crusnik form.
“I suppose fondling one another on top of the gazebo in plain view is not the most mature route, but it is fun.” Abel leaned in to kiss her throat, his own heart racing to keep pace with hers as it thundered in his ears. He inhaled deeply, tracing the muscled line of her throat with his tongue. Alex whimpered softly, sounding more animalistic than normal, and Abel moved down lower, tracing her collar bone. Alex threaded her fingers into his hair and cupped the back of his head as he kissed his way down to the top of a breast, just above the line of her corset. She was trembling again, but this time in pure anticipation. He looked up at her through his gently swaying hair, his eyes glowing brightly in the dark of the garden and she felt him brush her mind with his own.
“May I, Alexandra?” She looked at him for a moment, her breath hitching at the sight of him and the gentle pleading in his words as they echoed in her mind. She brushed his cheek with the back of a claw and smiled warmly at him, letting all her affection wash over him as she replied.
“Yes.” Abel’s face melted into the most pleasurable expression Alex had seen in many years as his fangs sunk into the top curve of her left breast. Alex gasped as he bit down and moaned outright as he began to draw from her softly. She gripped him painfully tight, only serving to heighten his arousal. She closed her eyes as she let her mind reach out to his, receiving a warm embrace for her efforts. He answered her mental prodding by showing her images of the tender care he wished to show her, the pleasure he wanted to bring her, their bodies tangled in bliss. He withdrew from her chest and nuzzled into her neck, his breath coming in soft pants against her skin.
“Alexandra.” He spoke her name almost reverently as she caressed the back of his neck. She could feel his arousal as it pressed into her thigh through his uniform and she suddenly felt unsure of whether or not to proceed. Luckily before she could answer, she felt the approach of a presence.
“Someone is coming.” Abel growled in frustration, sending shivers dancing over Alex’s skin.
“Damn them. Just ignore it and I’ll shred them when they enter the garden.” Alex laughed at Abel’s ploy as she stood up to stand at the edge of the roof. He stood to join her, sighing at the loss of contact. He pulled her close as she put her earbuds back in her ears. She smiled up at him as a song started up.
“Follow the music.” She winked at him before giving a hard flap of her wings that launched her skyward. Abel grinned and followed her as she flew higher and higher.
I’m an ordinary man with an ordinary life
Does she know that I’m alive?
Man, she’s really something else...
Abel had to smile at the last line as the guitars built up in the background, thinking to himself how they both loved to label what they were. She really was something else. Something beautiful and perfect.
You’re the Perfect One
And I don’t expect a thing from you at all
You’re the Perfect One
And I can’t even breathe.....
Abel laughed outright at the song she chose, surging forward to try and pull her close, but she grinned down at him and flew just out of his grasp. He fell back, letting her play the game. He became mesmerized by the easy flapping of her wings. The blue was brighter than ever in the dark of night and as they surged up into the clouds, the moonlight reflected off of them and cast the perfect light on her. She allowed him to come up even with her, but she continued to dance just out of his grip.
You are so unpredictable
Sometimes I’d like to be that way
Your charm, so irresistible
You are really something else....
Abel watched her, letting the music die away in his ears, his mind focused only on the gorgeous creature before him. He wanted to hold her, to let her know that he loved her with everything he had.
I get weak when she’s around
And I can’t speak when she’s around
Yeah, she turns me upside down
Man, she’s really something else
A guitar solo began and Abel moved to cover the several feet that lay between them. Alex smiled at him and tucked her wings in. The singer began a long sustained note and she began to fall perfectly in time with it. Abel shouted, diving for her as she fell. He knew she could fly, that she wouldn’t let herself hit the ground, but her game had grown dangerous, so he sped after her. He tucked his wings, watching her as the clouds swirled and parted around her. As the note finally peaked and broke off, Alex leveled off and spread her wings, soaring high over Rome, Abel hot on her heels. Abel sighed in relief when she finally began flying again, following her as steadily as ever.
You’re the Perfect One
And I don’t expect a thing from you at all
You’re the Perfect One
And I can’t even breathe....
She allowed him to come up even, tucking in her wings as he embraced her and kept them both hovering above the sleeping city.
I’m an ordinary man...
The song died and Abel kissed her deeply. Alex fumbled with her player for a moment before shoving it in a pocket. She nuzzled into him, curling into his chest as he held her and he felt truly content for the first time in a long time. They touched down on a cobblestoned street, just outside the ring of light cast by a street lamp and kissed for a few moments before breaking apart for air. Abel’s need had ebbed to a gentle warmth rather than a raging blaze and he smiled down at her, tracing a blue lip.
“Alexandra, you are so beautiful.” Alex grinned at him, her fangs glittering in the dim light.
“Well if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black...” They began walking back to the Vatican grounds, taking their time, stopping every now and then to lock themselves together in another round of heady kisses.
You'll never know how much I hate myself when you walk away from me...
