Tsume Keina, age 29, former model now a top actor on the big screen and budding actor for small... was beginning to want more than fame, more than money. He wanted to be able to enjoy it to the fullest once it's obtained. But, alas...
He tapped his fingertip slowly against the countertop of the large island. Slowly. Tap... Tap.. Like his nerves were being hit by his current situation. Slowly digging at him. Tap.. Tap. His golden gaze glowering at the small silver box with the gold accents. He'd only have had to open it, and his whole life would have changed. But, alas...
'I can't believe what a coward I've become because of him. Nothing used to stand in my way. ...Take a look at me now.' He stopped the tapping of his finger. 'Toboe has me wrapped around his finger; fulfilling his every need, while ignoring my own or putting it aside.' He grabbed his can of White Claws and took a sip. 'And what would he say, if I decided to cater to myself?' That he had to wonder did not sit well with him; he took a longer drink from the can. "Hn. Even his annoying brother and his 'Food Fighter' boyfriend are engaged." He sighed. "But, how would you respond, pup?" He opened the box looking at the intricate gold and chocolate-gold accented bangle inside. Its appearance was two ropes that have no disconnect. Forever together. Just as he intends to be with Toboe Wolf. But, alas...
He finished his drink, placing the can in recycling. He then grabbed the box with the bangle. He closed the lid and kept the heavy thing in his hands. Tsume hated where they are in life. He's working on home turf now, but Toboe is off at school. Why couldn't he live with him? Was it so terrible? Was Toboe really so confined at home that he'd take a freedom win where ever it came? He's certainly nothing like Kiba Wolf. The young man is not a bird in his gilded cage, he is - due to the fans and media - but Toboe can come and go as he pleases. Ok, maybe it's a little taxing now, especially if the young Wolf does have a stalking photographer hunting for information about him. But those people are ultimately harmless. Most of the time.
"Toboe.. Would you do me the honors of becoming my husband?" He held out his hand awaiting acceptance that could not come, as he's alone. He scoffed. His hope was that the present outcome wasn't a foreshadowing of what would happen with his beloved. Crossing the kitchen, he stuffed the item back into the handtowel drawer. Another day.. perhaps.
His phone buzzed from the living room. He thought about ignoring it, but figured it must be something important because when the voicemail got it, it rang again. Scooping up the device, he smirked. He answers the call with a pleasant tone. "Been a while since I heard from you," he asked. "What have been up to that you wanna rub it in my face?"
The caller scoffed. "Dog. Can't a friend just call and say "hello"?"
"They can. But Faye Valentine only calls to brag." He paused then added. "Or for a favor."
"You think you know me so well." Faye scorned him. "It just so happens that I have good news for both of us."
"I'm hanging up."
"No, Tsu', wait!" She called out hurriedly.
Tsume smiled silently. He hadn't planned on hanging up, he just liked messing with her. "No need to sound desperate." He sat on the couch.
"Ok. You remember Mabbit from Outer Left?" She went on when receiving a confirmation intone. "Well, they're teaming up with Givenchy; and long story short, they want to know if you'll be the spokesmodel for their new cologne?"
"That's why you called? What's in it for you?" He's flipping through a magazine for better homes. Junk mail, of course; he may want major changes but he'll stay a city man. Houses are for squares and large families.
"Well, I am going to rock the runway in the model reunion; you should join us, it'll be fun." Getting back on track when getting laughed at for calling something like that "fun", she said. "The designer talked about how good-looking you are, and the company saw the nudes we'd done. He asked if we knew each other, and then asked kindly if I'd feel you out about the offer."
"Fine."
"Tsume, you're such a bore, you never wanna do anything."
Done with the magazine, he set it down on the coffee table. He waited patiently for his friend to calm her berating rant on how he never does anything, to realize he'd actually agreed to do it.
"Some friend you are; you're gonna make me look like an idiot."
"Only if I'd said: "no" when you'd already assured I'd do it."
"Wait.. You'll do it?"
"About three insults ago."
"Tsume, you're impressing me in your young age."
"I already agreed to do it, don't insult me."
"It was genuine. If I say you're still young, then I'm in the same boat."
"You're thirty-nine, wait, your birthday passed already." He corrected himself. "Forty."
"Goodbye."
"Bye." He chuckled. He couldn't believe she'd actually hung up. He read a text that popped up. Faye sent the details and contact number for Givenchy's head office.
Tsume actually was fine with the job. He started his career as a still model. Wear the clothes. Take the pictures. Get paid. He's modeled products, too. Cologne is a switch. He wouldn't mind having a set brand, so long as it doesn't reek. He likes a strong scent, but not a presence. He left the couch and grabbed the mail. Sifting through the many letters he found the one he'd been curious about. The mail Toboe had brought in earlier does in fact contain an invite to a runway reunion.
It's being held in New York. The timing doesn't conflict with his schedule. 'I wonder if Toboe would like to go with me. We could use some alone time together.' He should check his little lover boy's schedule more closely. He smiled privately, recalling how well he knew the young man's schedule so well in their yesteryear. He had to, their was rarely a chance of alone time with his crush. 'Hn. Why does it feel like Kiba's won, after all?'
The older Wolf likely secretly still disapproves of his and Toboe's relationship. People don't easily change about some things, and you can't teach an old dog a new trick, like acceptance and welcome. That got him thinking that he and Toboe do seem to be seeing less of each other now that they can see each other. He should go back to his old ways and steal his lover away. Take him to do something romantic. He doesn't want to just meet up and have sex. Not that he isn't enjoying it. Goddess of pleasure herself is taking notes. But, he wants to be more than a tumble-mate. His feelings for Toboe are that healthy, but his intentions with the teen were never about that. He fell in love with him. It just built to sex the longer it was there.
Tsume retrieved his phone and called his boyfriend. He picked up and cheerfully said "hello". "Hey; what are are you doing at the end of September?"
"Tsume, I have no way of knowing that." He had a chuckle in the back of his voice. "What's happening at the end of September?"
"There's a show in New York, they want to do a modeling reunion. I was invited."
Toboe made a sound that was akin to a lightbulb and excitement. "Is that what that fancy envelope was, with the ribbon? I thought it was an expensive way to give out perfume samples."
"Toboe, when's dinner?"
Tsume recognized that voice. What was that jerk at the park doing there?
"Almost done." Toboe called back. "So you're gonna walk? That's great! I always liked seeing you model." He admitted shyly.
Tsume beamed. He didn't know his modeling made Toboe so happy. The young Wolf was exuberantly pleased that day he'd given him a private show. Maybe he quit the profession too hastily?
"It smells delicious." The interloper prattles on. "Make mine extra spicy."
"What are you making?" He asked the night chef.
"The amazingly impossible to perfect, tacos." Toboe snickered. "It's too easy just to cook ground beef then throw store bought stuff on it."
"Wanna come out with me once you're done?"
"And be a poor example to my diners? How could I be so rude?"
"Come on. It'll just be the two of us, no spike, no other diners."
"I'll have to rain check; I'm already in my pajamas."
"Alright." He didn't push the issue, though he wants to. "I'll leave you to your cooking."
"I'm done, actually." Toboe sounded busy turning off things and gathering materials. "Anything else?" He asked.
"No. That was all." Replied the romantically defeated.
"Woohoo!" Came Gasper in the background. "Dinner!" He called to the others.
"I'll call you tomorrow before work."
"Ok. Later, Tsu'," he hung up after sending him a kiss through the phone.
"Later." He hung up. He squeezed his cellphone as if intent to break it, but he then set it down. 'It's fine. I'll see him tomorrow. I went years with no contact, this is just for a little while.' He walked to the front door, turned off the lights then headed upstairs.

Aabroo released his cupping of Tsume's cheeks. "You are a million miles away, my friend. I'm not feeling it at all."
Tsume wanted to say something snarky, but he bit his tongue; the last thing his small-screen reputation needs is rumors that he's hard to work with. Antis would riot in a hurry, and sway possible fans along with them. They may not have ever seen Tsume Keina even in an interview. He would just be one more rude actor that needs to be cancelled.
"Sorry. I'm just distracted." Tsume replied in a calm tone, since he couldn't muster pleasant.
He and his co-star have been making-out while having simulation sex, but he can't get into character because he can't stop planning things with Toboe. He called him before leaving for workshop, as promised, but Toboe was barely alert enough to properly say "Hi". He doesn't have a class until 9, and he decided to sleep in. So, he only spent roughly six minutes talking to the lightly dozing, before he gave up and told him he'd see him later. To which he had a mumbled agreed.
"Why? Maybe I can help."
"I doubt it."
"I might could. What's the trouble? Stretched too thin?" Aabroo went on guessing, or teasing the brooding actor. It was hard to tell on the receiving end. "Man troubles? Financial?"
"It's fine. Really. I'm focused now." He lied a bit. He was steadily getting into work-mode. "Let's go."
The mixed actor seemed a non-believer, but he went back to work.
...
"Hey, Tsume," Aabroo waved to his acting partner in the parking lot. He wasn't saying goodbye but trying to get his attention. "Wanna hang out? It'll help with building a good natural flow on camera."
"I'm not gonna spend the evening making out with you." Tsume mused.
"No. Not that part, I meant just hanging out, like getting to know each other."
Tsume wanted to tell him that he knows enough; however, at the moment, he could use company other than inviting over his snide friend Spike. The guy might search the place out of boredom and find the engagement piece. "Where do you wanna go?"
"It's a surprise; just don't lose my car." He climbed into said leader to follow, then started it up.
Tsume got into his own vehicle then followed Aabroo Smith as he pulled away. He cleared his head earlier during workshop, but driving through the city, he was keeping his eyes peeled for activities to do with his absent boyfriend. He feels too far apart from Toboe, and that has to change. Otherwise, how will their relationship even be called a relationship? Spotting where Aabroo was parking, he balked. Surely he was parking in the lot because the actual location was at capacity. There was no way he was taking him to a pet cafe! Seeing the man go inside he deadpanned. He was seriously trying to get him into a pet cafe.
Tsume was tempted to keep driving, but curiosity got the better of him.
3 things hit the dour mood actor when he walked in. 1. It didn't smell nearly as canine as he would have expected. 2. There was a refreshment bar, which to him was odd in a place full of animal dander and fur. And 3. It was awash with giggling teen girls declaring every furry friend "cute", down to a brief altercation of pissed-off with another dog who wronged it just by passing.
"Tsu', let's sit here." Aabroo called to him.
Tsume made his way to the small table for two, ignoring the realized whispers of some of the girls; who some looked they'd suddenly had to hold themselves to keep a bathroom need at bay. Yes. Tsume Keina was certainly not somebody one would expect to appear in a dog cafe. Much less stay. Make use of a phone or ask directions, but not visit as a cuddler.
"Why are we here?" Was his question to his enthusiastic friend.
"I used to work here; now, I just come to clear my negative thoughts." He nodded his chin outward. "Go on, grab some pooch. See if it doesn't change your mood."
The scowl that met those words would have caved a sane man into a hole, but the plucky actor just grinned kindly. Tsume looked away to around the room, anything to get away from the early season's greetings expression. Fluff and female as far as the eye could see. Ok, that was exaggerating, there are roughly ten dogs and a group of four girls, and two women sitting on the other side of the room talking and having drinks. He at least rests assured they aren't the only adults in the room - staff aside.
"I'll get us some drinks."
"Right." He eyed an Akita coming his way. He furrowed his brow as the dog blurred from canine to his red haired boyfriend. The white face the brunet-red fur. The friendly dog rests it's chin on Tsume's thighs, looking up at him with big old eyes. Tsume pet the dog tenderly. At least a fake Toboe has time for him. He smiled at how childish he was for imprinting his love on a dog. But, he does often call him "Pup".
"I should have asked what you wanted, sorry for guessing. I'll buy you another." Aabroo set down the cup of green colored refreshment. "Hey, look at this cutie."
"Dogs must get sick of hearing that they're cute." He scratched the dog behind the ear. He took a sip from his drink. It wasn't bad; tastes like kiwi and banana.
"I kinda think I'd like it. It takes a confidence to be an adult but still be cute."
"Sounds crippling to me." He released the dog that wanted to shake it's head.
"So, what are your plans later in life?" Aabroo asked. "I know when I retire I'm gonna go backpacking in France. I wanna see the tunnel."
"I'm not sure. Maybe I'll get a mundane job, maybe I'll live off my money in retirement from the limelight." Tsume looked thoughtful. "At some point the fame does taper off. Then we can just be people again."
"I'm not there yet. I like being recognized."
"Try having to live indoors too often, because people wanna swarm." Tsume sipped his smoothie. "Then you look like a jackass for causing a mob scene, speeding off while your bodyguards shove around people who adore you," and he sounded doubtful and sarcastic when using the word. "Then you go home and sulk about something you have to send someone else off to do for you."
"Man." He drank his passion fruit blend.
"Hnhn.." He snickered. "When my money runs out, I'll live off my husband's income." He mentally smacked himself in the mouth. He had not meant to say that out loud. Too much wanton thinking going on today.
"Husband? I didn't see you as the type." His co-star admitted. "You strike me as the quiet, love-em-and-leave type."
"Well, I'm not." Tsume played in the dew forming on the chilled cup with his fingertips.
Smith held up a hand of defense. "My mistake. Who are you planning to marry? That kid at the apartment?"
"He's nineteen."
"Yeah, but.."
Tsume could have comically hollered. Why was everyone so quick to shut down his level of love for Toboe, and his boyfriend's in return? Is the universe having a laugh at him now that he has what he's always wanted.
"I've never known any younger person seeking married life." He waved his hand towards the giggling girls. "Is this what's been distracting you? You've got your head in the proposal clouds."
Tsume's silence said it all to his co-star; Tsume was just passively telling Aabroo to shut up.
"I'm all for love, but you have to snap out of it." He insisted politely but firmly. "I have a lot riding on this drama; it'll make or break my career. Please don't bring me down."
"Would you stop being such a drama queen? I know how to be a professional." Tsume barked. "We'll come off looking like we've been together for years."
"Thank you." He picked up a mini poodle. "And, for what it's worth, I do hope your man agrees to the proposal." Smiling, he says. "Enough serious talk, let's enjoy our drinks, pet the adorable army, and go to stop number two."
"Stop two?"
Across the street, a camera shutter snapped away at the pair through the window.
