Aster stood stiffly in Takagi’s arms while they carefully waltzed on the dance floor.
“Nikkou,” he said. “I didn’t mean to leave you. Will you at least listen to me?”
“I suppose I should,” she said coolly. “Keep to the facts.”
“I went into the building to look for you,” he said. “I saw Michiru and I got her attention, wondering if she knew where you were. She looked up at me, and I looked down … and our eyes met.” He took a deep, shaking breath.
“It’s never happened to me before, Nikkou,” he said. “I felt like I was drowning in the ocean, and I didn’t want to come up for air. I knew everything about her in an instant, and she became a part of me. All I could think of was taking her to somewhere we could be alone.”
“You didn’t even leave a note,” Aster snapped. “At least she did that much.”
“She’s been through this before!” Takagi exploded. The two of them stopped dancing, and stood glaring at one another.
“That’s not excuse!” Aster lashed out. “You’re a self-centered, selfish creep who thinks of no one but himself!” She turned away from him and ran away from the party, heading for the solace and solitude of her home.
In the aftermath, Takagi turned to look at Michiru, to find her with her other partner. Their heads were together and they appeared to be deep in conversation, so deep that they noticed nothing but each other.
Afraid that he had lost the woman he loved, Takagi left the dance floor to follow her. He paid no attention to the several pairs of eyes that followed his passage through the party, both sympathetic and hostile.
Within sight of the House of the Sun, Sean intercepted Takagi. The large Irishman was still elegantly dressed in the tuxedo he had worn to the wedding, but the expression on his face was nothing short of murderous.
“You leave her alone, boyo,” he said. “She’s had enough heartbreak from the likes of you. First, you leave her right after her sister’s delivered to her. Then, when she thinks you’re comin’ back into her life, you leave her for another woman.”
“I was giving her and her sister some space,” Takagi said. “I really don’t have to justify myself to you, Saturn.”
“You do have to justify yourself to me, Takagi,” the voice of Fushida Hosyu, Aster’s uncle, interrupted their conversation. “I told you that this had better not be just another fling. Aster isn’t strong enough to be just another notch in your belt.”
“I never meant to leave her,” Takagi said, making an effort to keep his voice lowered and his expression neutral.
“I don’t know if I can believe you,” Hosyu said. “I did promise Aster that I wouldn’t interfere in her life. I will promise you, Takagi, that if you hurt my girl again, I will see to it that your father cuts you off without a cent. Do you understand me?”
“I never intended to hurt her,” Takagi told him. “It just happened, like lightning. If I can just finish explaining, she’ll understand.”
“I don’t know if she wants to understand, right now,” Hosyu said. “She’s hurt, and you’re telling her that she went through all that agony, along with her new lover, for nothing. Try to see it from her perspective, Takagi. I’m sure she told you what her childhood was like.
“She was abused and terrorized by her stepfather, and then disappointed when you didn’t rescue her,” Hosyu continued. “That part wasn’t your fault. Then, you come back into her life after she’s had a crisis, stick around for a while, and then leave her when she needs you support the most. You make arrangements to come back, and then leave with one of her friends, not only breaking your promise, but also breaking up another couple at the same time. You broke her heart, apparently without any care at all, and broke the heart of a woman she was in love with, as well.
“Finally,” he finished. “You come to an event where she doesn’t dare start a fight, because it would bring bad luck. You tell her that all of the pain and agony and heartbreak that she’s just starting to get over is nothing, because you didn’t mean it. In her position, you’d be chewing iron and spitting nails, but you expect her to be reasonable. I think she’s being as reasonable as possible, under the circumstances.”
“I didn’t think of it that way,” Takagi admitted. “What should I do?”
“Groveling might work,” Haruka’s voice, choked with unshed tears, interrupted the conversation. “If you abjectly apologize, on your knees, she might forgive you this century. You hurt her, bad, and I’ve got half a mind to teach you a lesson you’ll never forget, with my fists.”
“Why haven’t you?” Takagi asked, bracing himself for Sailor Uranus’ well-known temper.
“That’s her decision,” Haruka said. “I can look at it a bit more objectively than she can. I wasn’t the one that felt betrayed. I just felt like my world had collapsed. I just wanted the pain to stop. I wasn’t too particular about how it stopped.”
“You can’t expect Aster to forgive you that quickly,” Michiru said from behind her partner. “She was terribly hurt. If I’d been able to think straight, I would have had you come here, so that we wouldn’t have left them so alone. Quite frankly, Takagi, I think the only thing that kept Aster going was Haruka and the others. If she were living on her own, she might have just put herself out of her misery.”
“Do you think so?” Takagi asked, his face pale with fear.
“Yes,” Michiru said. “Her self esteem is very low. I don’t remember her ever … “ Michiru broke off and looked at Hosyu nervously.
“You’ve forgotten, my dear,” he said, smiling paternally. “I am well aware that you are part of what Aster calls ‘Business’.”
“You’re right,” Michiru said, smiling ruefully. “I did forget.”
“What does that mean, you’re aware of ‘Business’?” Takagi asked.
“We don’t’ have to worry about Fushida-san if an emergency comes up,” Haruka said. “He knows about our, ah, extracurricular activities.”
“WHAT?!” Takagi’s voice rang through the trees.
“He was here when the first Kishi arrived,” Michiru explained. “Usagi and ChibiUsa had both just watched youma kill Usagi’s father and brother. They had a crying fit, and then Aster wanted to talk to ChibiUsa about the Kishi. Her uncle happened to overhear enough to make telling him necessary.”
“She shouldn’t have done that,” Takagi said. “She had no right.”
“That’s not for you to say, Pluto,” Aster’s voice made them all turn to where she was approaching them from the solarium of the house. She had changed from her formal gown of golden cloth and into a red kimono with golden roses embroidered all over it.
“I saw fit to tell him what he would understand,” she said. “Both the Inner and Outer Generals agreed with me, as does the Princess. It is better than telling lies and half-truths. Now, Uncle Hosyu knows that he’s out of his league, as far as Planetary Business is concerned, I don’t have to lie to him, we don’t have to watch what we say, and we have the advantage of having a source of advice from someone who is not involved.”
“There is no way he could possibly understand the responsibilities we have,” Takagi said. “We always kept things secret.”
“Not in the Silver Millennium,” Aster replied. “Everyone knew who we were. Of course, once we took up our mantles, there was no hiding. We never changed after the first transformation. Leave it alone, Pluto. Hosyu’s not the only family member that knows.”
“Why not announce it in the newspaper?” he asked, taking a few steps towards her. “Have you lost your mind?”
“What do you care?” she demanded, finally unleashing her temper. “You left me! I needed you! What if we’d needed you for trouble? I tried calling you, and all I got was your voice mail! You want me to trust you, and you want me to forgive you, and all you can do is find fault with what I’ve done! Well, if you think you can do better, you’re welcome to the position and everything that goes with it! You can have the power, the heartaches, the responsibility, AND the guilt!” Without another word, Aster turned on her heel and went back into the house, slamming the door to the solarium.
“That did not go well,” Hosyu said. “She’s not just going to roll over for you, Takagi. She loves you, but right now, I don’t think she likes you very much.”
“Fine,” Takagi said. “If anyone wants Michiru or I, we’ll be in the penthouse at the Imperial Hotel.” He looked over at the Senshi of the Sea, who nodded, her eyes full of tears. She followed him back towards the party, and to the street beyond, where his Lamborghini was parked.
Hosyu walked to the house and entered the darkened solarium. He heard sobbing and followed the sound into the house and to a set of shojis that led to Aster’s bedroom.
She was on the bed, crying brokenly. She was curled around a plushie of Kunzite, her face buried in the artificial hair. Along one wall was a complete set of Sailor Senshi plushies, including their more attractive adversaries. How Aster had found them all, he did not know, but he noticed that she had two of Kunzite: one with the others, and the one that she was fervently embracing, as if it were her only lifeline.
“Aster?” he said softly. “Can I help?”
“No,” she said, shaking her head against the plushie. “He doesn’t understand, and he doesn’t want to understand. He’s bonded to Michiru now. He doesn’t need me.”
“I think he loves you, Aster,” Hosyu said, kneeling next to her. “He seems frustrated, to me. Was he right about you having no right to tell me?”
“No,” she said, raising her tear-streaked face to look at him. “There aren’t any rules about telling people. Takagi’s been on the run with the Kishi, so he learned to hide. The Senshi hide so that their families won’t be endangered. It has nothing to do with rules or rights. It has to do with survival.”
“What are you going to do, now?” Hosyu asked his niece, reaching out to stroke her disheveled curls.
“Nothing,” she said. “He can do what he wants. I don’t care. If it’s meant to be, he’ll come back. If not, then that’s that. I do have something to do, though.”
She kissed the Kunzite plushie on top of its head and set it on the futon. She smiled reassuringly at her uncle and beckoned him to follow her.
“I’m going to prove him wrong about something else,” she said. “I’m tired of him and Setsuna thinking that they can run things. Excuse me, uncle. I have to talk to my sister about something.”
She passed Hosyu, and then passed Haruka and Sean, standing in the solarium. She continued out until she saw Akari sitting to one side, looking in her direction.
“Akari, I have a favor to ask, tomorrow night,” Aster said, sitting down next to her adopted sister.
“Of course, Aster,” she said. “You know that I would do anything for you.”
“This is a little unusual,” Aster admitted. “I want to borrow your husband.”
“Is this because of Pluto?” Akari asked her.
“Yes,” Aster admitted. “If she was wrong about Crystal Tokyo, then maybe he’s wrong about the Planet Call. Just in case he’s partly right, I don’t want to deprive you on the night when Mamoru and Usagi go away first.”
“That is alright, Aster,” Akari said. “I admit to a bit of curiosity, myself. I wonder how much they actually know, and how much they are supposing. If Taiyono has no objections, I would like to find out, second hand, what the Planet Call consists of. Do you have any theories?”
“Only what I remember,” Aster admitted. “Back then, we never would have noticed if there was a Planet Call. Taiyono and I were already having sex before I became Sailor Sol. We might have had some kind of irresistible attraction, and we would have never noticed.”
“That is true,” Akari said. “I know it was the same for Endymion and I. He had eyes for no other until he met Serenity. I had eyes only for him and Taiyono, and even then, I thought perhaps it was only planetary physics. Everyone loved both of you.”
“If they are right, and there’s some kind of irresistible compulsion,” Aster said. “I don’t want to leave you high and dry, without him. I think I know a way to relieve the compulsion in a short time.”
“How?” Akari wanted to know. This was her sister and husband they were discussing.
“Tantric sex techniques,” Aster said. “I’ve had a lot of time on my hands, here in Tokyo. You’ve only seen the public part of my library. In my room, there are many pillow books that contain everything from techniques for foreplay, to ways to delay orgasm for hours. I was looking forward to practicing all of them with Takagi. Now, I’ve been practicing on Sean. It’s been a new experience. He’s hokei.”
“Uncircumcised?” Akari asked, astonished. “What is it like?”
“Very different,” Aster said, blushing. “The sensations are unique. It is almost a shame that your husband was born in the United States. They do not automatically circumcise in Ireland.”
“Do you think the tantric techniques will work?” Akari asked. Aster nodded.
“If there is a compulsion, it must have to do with shared power,” Aster said. “I’ve talked to Hana about it more than once since I met them. She and Toshiro had a period of about three or four days, when they first met, when they did nothing but pillow, constantly, except for eating and … eliminating. She said after they were done, they both felt stronger, and felt Chiron’s power. Tantric sex is all about moving power from one partner to the other. Thus, the power, and the information that each partner carries, are shared.”
“I will wait to hear what happens,” Akari said. “When are you going to ask Taiyono?”
“I’m going to approach him today,” Aster said. “I’m not going to attempt to practice it while we have outsiders in the compound. Tomorrow night, or the next, possibly. That will be up to him.”
“It will be valuable information for the others,” Akari said. “Sadly, it is not something I will ever experience for myself.”
“I know,” Aster said. “That is why I had to ask you, first. If you’d said no, I would have talked to Minako, Rei, or Makoto. Their partners would probably be more than willing, and the other girls would more than likely be very understanding.”
“I know someone else who needs some understanding, and some encouragement,” Akari said, emboldened by her sister’s attitude, and the theory of power sharing. “Tsuki is getting very drunk.”
“Akari,” Aster said, mock-shocked. “You aren’t going to seduce that poor, wholesome, uptight, self-righteous boy, are you?”
“Perhaps he needs some help adjusting,” Akari said. “He is in a foreign land, and the woman he is destined for is a bit on the young side, right now. Besides, if your idea works, and I believe it will, then her first priority will be her partner, ne?”
“He IS your satellite,” Aster said. “Maybe you have a point. Okay, I try my idea, and you try yours. Then, we compare notes. It might be just as important to connect with your satellites as it is with your partner. That may be the secret behind my promiscuity.”
“Aster, you are not promiscuous,” Akari remonstrated gently. “You are completely faithful, within our circle. You always were. You never even looked at someone who was not one of us, remember that.”
“Right,” Aster said. She and her sister rose to their feet at the same time. Aster watched Akari approach Thomas, and then went in search of Vincent.
She found him watching the caterers and tasting their food, a sour look on his handsome face.
“What’s the matter, handsome?” she asked as she approached.
“This is all wrong,” he said. “Some of this is pretty good, but they got the pate de fois grais wrong, and the coq au vin is too spicy, and the duck a la orange is too plain.”
“They didn’t go to Le Cordon Bleu, sweetie,” Aster said, wrapping her arms around his waist. “We both know you could have done better, but you didn’t have the staff here, and you didn’t have time. Next time we throw a party, Le Parc de Soleil will cater it. For now, don’t worry too much about it. Besides, I have a Japanese palate, and things tasted fine to me. Maybe they just adjusted seasonings for the region.”
“You might be right,” he said. “In Atlanta, they complained that my pate was plain, but New York and San Francisco got complaints that there was too much seasonin’.”
“See?” Aster said, smiling up at him. “It’s just regional. Here, you’ll use wasabi instead of horseradish root, plum wine instead of burgundy, and pickled ginger along with onions or garlic.”
“You didn’t come over to comfort me about the food,” he said. “What’s on that troublemaker you call a mind?”
“You know I had a fight with Takagi,” Aster said, drawing him away from the activity and grabbing a bottle of plum wine in the process.
“I saw ya run off,” he said. “I also saw Sean and Haruka followin’ y’all. I figured they’d know what t’ do.”
“They did,” she said. “I came to a decision, though. I decided that I was going to show him what was what. He told all of you boys to stay away from your planet partners, right?”
“Yeah,” Vincent said, looking down at her. “I suppose you decided that was bunk, right?”
“What?” Aster asked, puzzled. “I’ve never heard that word before.”
“Bunk?” he asked. She nodded.
“It means baloney, hogwash, cow cookies, garbage,” he said, before his voice trailed off.
“In other words, it means that I don’t believe them,” Aster said. Of their own volition, her fingers started running up and down her partner’s well-muscled arm.
“Yeah,” he said. “Honey, you don’t know what you’re doin’ there. I’m a married man.”
“I know,” she said. “I already talked to Akari. She knows that I want to test what Pluto told you, and she’s agreed. She intends to … connect with her satellite tonight, or at least half of it.”
“Usagi jus’ got married,” Vincent argued.
“Not Usagi,” Aster said.
“Thomas?” he asked, his voice rising a bit. “She ain’t never seduced nobody, an’ she thinks she’s gonna seduce him?”
“It won’t be hard,” Aster said. “Any more than it would be for me to seduce any of the Kishi, including Neptune.”
“Ah’d like t’ see that,” he said.
“Maybe some other time,” she said. “Right now, I’ve got my sights set on something a bit … warmer than the sea.”
“Honey, you’s playin’ with fire,” he argued.
“Hana and Toshiro are married,” Aster said. “They went through a period of about three or four days when they couldn’t stop pillowing. Three or four DAYS, Taiyono, not forever! We have an obligation to the others to see if they’re avoiding their partners for nothing.”
“What are you proposin’?” he asked.
“We go somewhere private,” she said. “We transform, look into one another’s eyes, and let nature take it’s course. I know some tantric techniques that may help.”
“You really think this’ll work?” he asked her.
“Yes,” she said. “Chiron has all of their memories, and they have more power than they would have possessed alone. The total is greater than the sum of the parts.”
“An’ you think that we’ll be stronger when we’re done,” he said speculatively. “Y’know, I seem to remember bein’ able t’ talk t’ you mind t’ mind.”
“I thought I was remembering wrong,” she said.
“Well,” he said. “If Akari’s gonna fix up Thomas, why don’t you an’ me find us someplace secluded after the newlyweds leave.”
“Done,” Aster said, smiling.

When Usagi and Mamoru had driven off in a shower of rice and flower petals, Aster watched while Akari disappeared into Mamoru’s house with Thomas.
She also watched while Makoto and Haruka very effectively supervised the cleanup of the back yard, leaving it as pristine as if the celebration had never occurred.
She watched Haruka and Sean take ChibiUsa and Hotaru to the House of the Sun, accompanied by Nathan, Quentin, and the Tochis.
She saw her uncle withdraw to the guest house with Kenji, and she watched the girls pair up with the men they had been seeing, finally leaving her and Vincent alone outdoors.
“Shall we?” she asked, looking up at him.
Vincent nodded and looked around.
“Where?” he asked.
“You were staying in the attic at the Frat House, weren’t you?” Aster inquired. “Why don’t we go up there?”
The two of them climbed the stairs that climbed the outside of the building and made their way to the deck that covered half of the roof of the building. The other half of the roof was the attic room that Vincent had claimed as his own.
Aster pulled her henshin wand from a pocket while Vincent fished his token from his pocket.
It looked like a fanciful keychain, with a spiked mace at the end. He grasped it as though it were the weapon it looked like and closed his eyes.
Before Aster’s eyes, the armor of Kishi Sol formed around the hand that held the token, as the token itself enlarged and lengthened into a full-sized weapon with razor sharp spikes protruding from one end. The transformation spread from the token itself, crawling up his arm and across his chest, and then down his legs, until he stood proudly in the gold armor with red spiked designs, and the symbol of the sun in red on the chestplate and on the gold cape.
Aster raised her henshin wand above her head, and whispered her transformation, unwilling to make it any more attention-drawing that it already was.
“Solar Cosmic Power Transform.”
To Vincent’s eyes, a shaft of strong sunlight shot down from the heavens to put her in a spotlight so strong that she could not be seen. When the light faded, Sailor Sol stood in her fuku, the power nearly radiating from her.
With careful deliberation, she closed the short distance that separated them, and then looked upwards to meet the eyes of her Planet Partner for the first time in ten thousand years.
The two of them drowned in one another’s fire for a timeless spell. They shared everything about the Silver Millennium, and nearly everything about their current lives. On a deep level, they joined in an inescapable way and became two halves of a whole, as they had always been meant to be. As the joining of souls became manifest, another joining became desirable.
Aster took Vincent by the elbow and guided him into the attic room, so that they were not out in the open. Once inside, she let him go so that he could act in accordance with his sudden desires.
Vincent slowly moved his left hand until it rested beneath her pert chin and gently lifted her face upwards. Her eyes met his squarely, and he felt as if he were gazing in a looking glass, for he saw his own desires mirrored in the golden depths. Without the thought actually forming in his head, he found himself lowering his lips to meet hers in a light, yet feverish kiss that only served to cause the feelings to grow tremendously.
Searing waves of sensation flooded through both of them, causing the kiss to deepen dramatically, and their hands began to freely roam the other's body, gently caressing the heated flesh beneath their clothing, then even that became too much between them.
Aster's fingers nearly flew as she unbuckled his armor, and then untied the padding beneath, revealing tanned skin, almost the same shade as her own, covering the hard muscles of his chest. Then, she began to run her small, long-fingered hands over the exposed area, feeling almost as if she were somehow touching herself in that manner, and it both thrilled and confused her.
To Vincent, he felt the same, for it seemed as if he could feel the sensation of skin under his fingertips, yet he knew that his hands still encountered naught but the silk of her fuku.
All too soon, even that wasn't enough for the golden-eyed man, and he began fumbling with the fasteners that held her uniform closed. He kept expecting her to react adversely to his actions, but she seemed to be as eager as he was, and he was willing to leave it at that.
Since she was busy by then at his leggings, he was on his own for the fuku, and it wasn't too long before he managed to unfasten it, thusly peeling the silken fabric away from her torso completely to reveal her large upstanding breasts with their jutting nodules in the center. Suddenly unable to resist the pull, he dove like a hawk to burry his face between the fleshy mounds, avidly nibbling and suckling on each one in turn, his hands gently kneading them both equally.
Again, he wondered if she was going to call a halt to the activity, and was beginning to think that he would be unable to stop even if she did tell him to do so, but at the same time, he knew that he would never be able to do anything to hurt her in any way, for to do so would hurt himself at the same time.
Aster rode on a flood of sensation, moaning out her pleasure, as her desires mounted higher than she had known for a long time. Most of her recent lovers, except for Takagi and Kunzite, had all been women, and those encounters had been infrequent at best, with her usually being the aggressor, but now, she was the recipient, and it thrilled her.
Through the newly forged Planet Bond they shared she knew that they were both just as constricted, and she suddenly began to burn for the sensation of being repeatedly impaled on his Heavenly Spear. He, too, wished to be inside her, thrusting away until she shrieked in passion and delight, and he quickly found himself acting on those desires.
As he worshiped at her marvelous breasts, he began leaning forward, thusly laying her back on the futon with himself atop her slender body. When this produced no protest from her, he continued onward, helping her to unfasten his leggings and working them down his narrow hips with one hand while he used the other to continue fondling her upper chest.
Soon, his erect manhood was free, and jutted proudly from his body, ready to sheath itself in her hot, moist folds. He then began rubbing the tip of his shaft against the silken flesh of her Royal Pavilion. Aster began to moan louder, her hips flexing against his ministrations, and her willowy arms tightened around him in an attempt to pull him even closer.
Taking her cue, Vincent plunged inside her velvety passage, sinking ever deeper until the entire length of his throbbing staff was buried to the hilt, and he felt the flesh of his hips meet hers soundly. A low, throaty groan escaped as he penetrated her, shuddering past his lips, and he began thrusting evenly into her searing corridor.
A golden glow sprang up around them, and each one saw the symbol of the Solar Power appear on their Partner's forehead, just above and between their eyes. It was a strange thing to occur, but neither one of them was thinking clearly at that time. Though he had wanted to make the moment last, they both started a rapid rhythm that brought them to the heights in short order, gasping and clinging to each other as if that was the whole purpose of their lives. But they both knew that there was still more to come.
Before they could begin to come down from their first climax, they were already well on their way to the next plateau. Moving in perfect synchronization with each other, they drove themselves together, the only sounds being those of their frenzied lovemaking - the rhythmic slapping of their bodies as their hips met on each powerful thrust, the grunts, squeals, moans and groans that filled the air, and the perfectly timed rustling of the futon they were lying on as they fought to reach the top once again. Over and over they pounded onto one another, their bodies growing slick from the moisture caused by their exertions.
“Taiyono,” Aster gasped. “Look at me. Meet my eyes. Will power into me. I’ll will it into you. Share power with me.”
Vincent's gold eyes caught and held hers again as he moved above her, and they both felt like they were suddenly drowning in the very fires of the sun, yet neither one wished to come up at that moment. Instead, the feelings began to spiral as the radiance around them grew in intensity, catching them both in the endless whirlpool of passion that had only one conclusion. Harder and faster they thrust themselves together, their breath gasping harshly as their bodies bucked of their own accord, riding the super-heated sensations ever upwards. Their hearts beat frantically as they strove to become one being, trying to fuse themselves to each other, aching to ease the terrible, yet oh-so desirable tensions within them.
Stronger and deeper they pounded out the rhythm that burned inside of them, longing to reach the ultimate peak, but, at the same time, wishing for that glorious moment to never end. The entire world had diminished for that time to encompass just the two of them, the Twin Solar Powers that had been separated for time immemorial, and at that moment, neither one of them cared. Harder and more rapid their strokes came, and still they burned from the incredible heat they were generating from the friction of flesh on flesh.
Over and over he drove himself into her slick passage, only to be met halfway as she rose to meet him. Her legs wrapped themselves around his body, and she used them to pull herself upwards even as he came down to meet her. Muscles bunching rapidly, they fought to attain the climax, yet straining mightily to hold onto the feeling one for moment longer. Again and again they pounded themselves together, until the pinnacle could no longer be denied, and it burst upon them with a fury that rivaled the sun itself.
Wave after wave of scalding seed spewed from his throbbing spear, even as her hyper-slick corridor spasmed rapidly around him, squeezing him tightly, milking every last drop from him. Finally, they both seemed to collapse, she deeper into the futon, and he on top of her, pinning her to the cushion beneath them. Their breathing began to slow as they lay entangled, gently touching each other, as if to reassure themselves that they were truly together.
