Robots, Games And Chocolate

The rest of the day and the few days following were all worked silently. Gevanni had spent more time out of the headquarters. Halle had been in and out. Matt worked next to Rester on the computers most the time. Near had silently been working in various places giving orders time to time and receiving reports on jobs his team had done.
“Near the Japanese police force are making a move most of them have taken a flight to Los- angles they’ll be landing in about 3 hours.” Matt said. before typing a few more times “I cant hack into there phones or systems till they land... i can’t find Mello at all so i’m unsure where he is or why they are here.”
“Mello must be in Los Angles why else would an entire team come here..... Search for Mello harder. use Mafia hide outs or search areas that sell Mello’s brand of chocolate see whose selling them in bulk.” Near said calmly.
Matt muttered “Damn it why didn’t i think of that” Matt started typing on 3 different screens.
After a few hours Near stood and walked behind Matt laying a hand on his shoulder. “Matt take a deep breath... you will find him, I know you can do this.... And when the time comes you’ll go to him.”
Matt turned “I won’t leave you Near”
“Yes you will.... Mello will never want to work under me. So when he asks you’ll go be with him” Near smiled.... “So any shops that’s sold large amounts of Mello’s chocolate.”
“Yes 2 same amounts no delivery address or name the chocolate is picked up in person...”
“That amount of chocolate much weigh a a bit. so search hide out 3 miles within each shop” Near said before going to Rester receiving a file.

As Near read over the file Matt typed and almost shouted “I’ve found him.... i’ve actually found him...” He brought something up on the large screen. showing it to Near and Rester.
It showed a bunch of warehouses. “There all abandoned, however electricity and supplies are been delivered there. also C.C.T.V is still active.” He brought some more screens up showing the c.c.t.v cameras.
“I’m having trouble getting to the cameras indoors. Mello must of set the security up.”
Near nodded and smiled. “Told you you would... Let me know when you hacked into cameras. Rester will help keep eye on Lights team.”


After about 30 more minutes Matt called out “Near i’ve done it. Look” He said pointing to the monitors, they showed various images from inside the warehouse. there were mafia men and Mello inside.
Near looked over before contacting Halle over the radio. “Halle positive on that location head on over there.” Near said after receiving a “Yes sir” from Halle he went back to watching the monitors.
Matt was watching the monitors intently whispering “Mello...”
Rester came over to Near “Sir, The Japanese team are making a moving towards the base where Mello is.” Rester paused and watched and Matt typed bringing the outside camera on the main screen. Watching them approaching in a large black van. He kept switching the cameras to keep them on the main screen.
As the van stopped and the team got out Rester commented “They’re geared up so you can’t see their faces...”
Near interrupted before Rester had chance to finish. “Either they are worried someone from Mafia inside has the Shinigami eyes or they know the Shinigami who owns the book will be there. “
Matt nodded his agreement before gasping as the Japanese police stormed the building there were shots been fired from both sides. Matt concentrated on tracking Mello through the gun fire he locked himself in a small room with computers in and pretty much nothing else.
“He’s trapped Near... We have to do something i feel helpless” Matt cried out.
Speaking through the radio. “Halle are you nearly there.”
Halle responded “Not yet still a few minutes away.”
Near and the rest of the team watched as the police shot their way into the room.

Mello was standing still someone clenched in one hand and a gun in the other.

“Near i’m near the building, Shall i go in for Mello as planned.” Halle’s voice came over the radio.
Near picked it up “No, Stay away from the building.”
Matt turned “Near we have to do something”
“ Halle stay away, The building is rigged to blow up. “ .....Pointing to the screen to show the others “Just stand by for orders.”
Matt whispered. “What are you doing Mello... Please be ok”

Things were said between them unheard in the S.P.K office before they watched Mello go wide eyed, He looked up straight into the camera before letting the trigger go.
There was a bright flash before the camera went down. Matt screamed “Mello.... no you can’t die god damn it”
Gevanni had come in quietly and asked “Who is Mihael Keehl?”
Near looked from the distraught Matt, Nodding the Rester before turning to Gevanni “what... “
“The Police chief.. i read his lips, M.I.H.A.E.L K.E.E.H.L Mihael Keel. that’s all i saw before cameras cut out”
Near mumbled more to himself then those in room “Light made sure his dad led... he manipulated him into receiving the eyes.” Near shook his head and hugged Matt.... “He’ll have a plan” Matt just cried and barely reacted when Rester injected some sedative in his arm.... Soon Matt dozed off the sedative kicking in fast. “Rester take him to bedroom” Rester nodded and picked Matt up.
Near grabbed the radio. “Halle, go round the back... Mello’s alive he planned this. Theres no cameras round there and all police are at the front.”
“Sir. there fire spreading everywhere and the police force are dragging people and bodies out” Halle protested
“Mello is a genius, There must be a back way out. He wouldn’t kill himself “ Near said firmly before handing Gevanni the radio “Deal with radio for me”


Rester came back just as Halle came over the radio “Sir.... sir”
“Yes Halle.” Near responded
“I found him, Rod Ross is with him, Mello’s in a bad way. However Rod knows a doctor willing to help, No questions asked.”
“Take him to the address i gave you earlier.” Near said
“Yes sir.. I’ll report back later, When he’s stable” Halle said before shutting her radio off.
Rester moved to Nears side “Matts asleep he’ll be out of it for a few hours.”
Near nodded, “Try find out about the chief and the rest of Lights team that got injured.”
Rester frowned “What about you sir.”
Near looked to Rester before turning to his puzzle he had pulled out. “I’m fine not much to do until we hear something.”
“I didn’t mean that sir.” Rester said.
“Please do as i’ve ordered, Or do i need to ask Gevanni.” Near almost growled out.
“No i’ll sort it.” Rester said walking away.

They all worked silently for a few hours. “The chief and the other injured are all in the hospital. They are all in stable condition just under observation. Light is in the hospital with his father, No calls have been made.” Rester said from his computer.
Gevanni turned in his seat “If his dad went there to kill Mello, And Light figures out he’s alive what will he do.”
“He’ll kill his father or Let him live out his remaining life... And once he finds out he’s alive he’ll write Mello’s name in the book he or the second Kira has.” Near said not pausing in solving the puzzle.
the computer beeped signaling an Instant Message
“It’s from Halle, She’s activated all the security. The doctor has tended to Mello’s wounds he been screaming Matts name, begging for him before passing out from the pain and pain medication.... He is still in critical condition though. She also wants to know what her orders are?” Gevanni read out loud.
Near thought quietly for a few moments hearing movement from down the hall. “Tell her, Her orders are to wait there, and help anyway she can. Also to prepare for Matt’s arrival” He paused before adding Is Rod Ross still there.”
Gevanni typed everything up and sending it...
“Rester tend to Matt he is stirring, And after he’s awake prepare a bag for him. If he asks don’t tell him why.” Near said.
Rester nodded and walked down the hall as the computer beeped again signalling her reply. Gevanni read it through first before reading it out “Rod Ross is still here, he is unwilling to leave. He poses no threat and he willing handed all his weapons to me... And is it advisable sending Matt while Mello is still in critical condition.” Gevanni looked up waiting for his reply.
“Rod Ross can stay he got hold of the doctor that is trying to save Mello. And yes both Matt and Mello need each other now more then ever. Don’t respond again. Warn Rod and the doctor that Matt is coming... if the doctor wants Matt calm drug him safely.” After Near finished talking Gevanni typed it up and sent it, Just as Matt stumbled into the room.
Matt slumped into chair not talking, Near turned to face him “He’s alive... Barely but alive”
Matt looked up shocked almost “Mello’s... Alive... Really alive”
“Yes, He is in critical condition but should be ok if he fights....He asked for you before he passed out. So Gevanni will be driving you over shortly.” Near replied.
“No i’ll stay here with you. I promised i wouldn’t leave you.” Matt said moving over to Near hugging him.
“No, You’re going he needs you, He needs you to help him fight.” Near said before adding “Don’t make me order you..... Please”
Matt was torn over what to do... ‘I love Mello and want to help him, But i love Near i promised i’d stay with him.’ Matt thought to himself.
“When you go, you won’t leave building until Mello’s well. Any food you need will be brought to you VIA Halle.” Near said. Matt sighed and nodded a small frown on his face.

Gevanni stood and prepared the car taking the bags Rester had handed him. When he returned to the main room and nodded to Near.
Near gave a brief nod. “Matt time to go... “
Matt stood and Kissed Near hugging him “I love you.”
“I know... Gevanni is waiting Matt” Near said... He moved to the computer and sat with his back to Matt.
Matt frowned... about to say something, When Gevanni came to him shaking his head. “He’s upset to... He is trying to remain strong, by working. Come on” Matt frowned looking down and followed Gevanni silently to the car.
Matt climbed in the car looking through the back window, before facing the front pulling some cigarettes out lighting one.
Inside Near was watching on camera... Rester came behind him “You don’t have to watch Near.”
Near waved Rester off, watching as Matt lit his cigarette opening the window and Gevanni climbing in and driving off.
‘Watching someone else i love leave... I hate doing this’ Near thought to himself.
As the car drove out of sight from the cameras Near buried himself in working to catch Kira. When he paused to think he made sure his puzzles or cards were close to him.
“Sir.... Take a break not much more we can do yet.” Rester said quietly.
Without looking up Near responded quietly “I need to keep busy....Keep my mind occupied.”
Kneeling next to him on the floor. “I’m worried about you. you’ve skipped your medicines this morning... and your... well showing more emotions then normal i can see you’re upset over Matt leaving”
Glaring slightly Near turned “It is my body, If i choose to miss a dose of MY meds i will. Yes i’ll miss Matt but Mello needs him more he loves Mello more....” almost whispering the next part “I was just a replacement for him i always was”
Rester gently laid his hands on Nears shoulder expecting it to be shrugged off.
Near sighed and leaned back slightly into Rester’s hand, Slowly Rester moved to his knees behind him and hugged Near close to his chest.
‘He is still a child. A lonely and misunderstood child.’ Rester thought as he held Near as he started starting crying silently to himself... ‘He doesn’t even allow himself to cry... sign of weakness.’
After a short while Near had cried himself to sleep, In that time Near had turned in Rester‘s arms and buried himself in Rester‘s shoulder.
As the door to garage buzzed, He looked up and pressed button to allow Gevanni entry and stood up with Near carrying him to the bedroom to sleep. He gave Near a small dose of sedative to keep him asleep. And returned to the main room.
