Sorry about the delay! I might not be able to post as often as I'd like. I'm trying to get the later chapters written but the later part of the story gets more complex and it might take time for me to get them polished out. Also, I'm re-editing them as I go, so its more than a matter of just pasting up the written ones. As always, review and tell me what you think!
As the days wore on, Hakkai made friends. He found an easy in with the hanyou people of the caravan because of his new friendship with Shinji. The kid took him under his wing and was proud to have a full youkai as a friend. It was like Shinji had become stitched to Hakkai’s hip. The kid chattered at him ceaselessly, but Hakkai was happy to have someone to talk to again. Mostly Hakkai would nod and listen. It wasn’t long before he had Shinji’s entire life story.
Shinji made him think about Gojyo a lot. Sometimes, he would do or say something that made him think of Goku too. It was both a comfort and disconcerting at times. It was a little like having Goku and Gojyo rolled up into one body.
He was fascinated with Hakkai’s Qi Gong techniques. Practicing with it had become a mandatory daily ritual now. It was the only way of discharging the energy that kept building up in his body. The gold streaking made up almost half of its color now. Now that he had a steady supply of food, the charge up was accelerating. It was like his body was becoming a sort of a Qi generator. He could entertain the caravan people with it.
He’d discovered he was capable of new visual tricks with it too. He could shape it more precisely than he used to be able to, and make it glow brighter. Weirdly enough it was winning him friends. The people here were warming to.
They know what I am, but they are not afraid of me.
By the fourth day they were in the mountains. Hakkai could see what Shinji had meant. They were up on roads that wound high up through the mountain tops. It was a barren and empty sight, though beautiful in its own way. The snow didn’t fall here and the mountains were striated with colors of the desert: topes, tans, pinks and yellows. Buttes and
With the sunset over them, it was breathtaking.
But the road was slow going. In places it was so narrow the tires of the massive caravans hung over the edges of the cliff faces. It gave Hakkai the creeps. He was reminded of the times that he had tried to drive Hakuryuu through similar roadways. These caravans were much larger, requiring wide roads that could bear the weight of a many ton vehicle. Hakkai kept waiting for one of the vehicles to slide sideways down a cliff. If he stuck his head out any of the windows on the open side, he couldn’t see the ground under the trucks. If he looked out a window on the cliff side, he could reach out and touch the stone as high as the third floor.
“Don’t worry,” Shinji said, “We haven’t fallen yet!” His face had darkened then, “”What you really have to worry about is if the desert people come.”
Hakkai remembered that there were armed youkai always on the roofs of the caravans. There were armed youkai who did nothing but circle and escort the caravans or scout ahead of them in smaller vehicles. A few times a day the caravans would come to a full stop to allow shift changes and the transport of supplies from one of the massive land yachts to the other.
He was summoned to the Captain’s Quarters on the third evening during one such stop. The captain occupied the first of the three main trucks that made up this caravan. His quarters were above the main deck, facing forward with a clear view of the path ahead. It was where Shinji had originally brought him to meet with the Captain.
“So, I trust you find yourself fitting in nicely?”
“Yes, sir. Everybody has been very kind.”
“Good! I’m glad to hear it. Would you care to take dinner with me tonight?”
Hakkai didn’t want to, but under the circumstances he couldn’t say no. He sat with the Captain. A person he recognized from the crew’s deck waited on them. She gave Hakkai a tacit wink as she placed wine glasses before them and poured a sip for Jiki to taste. He nodded to her and she left the bottle.
“Grape wine? That’s hard to come by in this region,” Hakkai commented.
The Captain had smiled, “There is good money in these caravans. The Lord of the Oasis takes good care of good captains. This is my own private stock.”
“Don’t you think people will get strange ideas if you treat me differently?”
The Captain swirled the wine in his glass. Outside the sun was setting and it cast a pink and yellow kind of light into the forward cabin.
“I’m sure they already think I treat you differently. They don’t do much other than gossip. I’m sure you have found that out for yourself.”
Hakkai blushed, “Hai. I have had to put a lot of rumors to rest.”
Jiki poured wine into the glass before Hakkai, “You can drink it?”
Hakkai smiled, “I’m allowed a glass here and there. I love wine.”
“Good!”
Hakkai accepted the glass and sipped at it. “It’s been a while!” He smiled.
“I know you’re kind of stuck with them now, but do you really care what a bunch of humans and hanyou think?”
He got a good look at the Captain as he shucked off his outer suit coat and hat. He had heavy features, and dark hair. Hakkai watched him recline and relax. Jiki gazed at Hakkai over his glass, his long ears and part of his face was in the shadow of the sunset. Hakkai realized he must have deliberately left the lighting of the quarters low to afford the best view. The youkai Captain sat and regarded Hakkai. “The sunset is beautiful,” Hakkai said.
“I’m glad you like it.”
The Captain took his glass and downed it in its entirety before pouring another. Gazing at Hakkai with heavy lidded eyes he said,“But I think my view is better. What would you like for dinner? We can eat from the passenger kitchens and I assure you it is much better stuff than in the cafeteria unit.”
The Captain had a menu in his quarters. Hakkai was under the impression the Captain never partook of the mess hall’s cuisine. The woman who had brought the wine appeared out of nowhere to take their order. Hakkai was aware that she would probably report everything back to the crew. It made it hard to relax.
Hakkai had recently acquired an aversion to many meat dishes. He ended up ordering a spiced noodle dish. Captain Jiki raised his eyebrows.
“Of all the things you could have, you choose that?”
Hakkai grinned. “Well, there’s not much else on the menu that won’t turn my stomach.” He thought about what he said and looked abashed. “I mean, there’s just some things I can’t eat.”
The captain chuckled. “Well, that’s understandable, but I’ve reports that you eat like a horse.”
Hakkai nodded, so the spying went both ways. “Well, what I do eat, I eat a lot of. It’s harder to be picky when you haven’t eaten in a while.”
“Don’t beat around the bush, I already know about your condition.”
“You don’t think it’s strange?”
“Of coarse I do, but I have seen stranger things in this world. I think you might find that in The Oasis, people would be accepting of demons such as yourself. It’s why the place attracts them,” The Captain gave Hakkai another appraising look; “I wasn’t sure when I first saw you, but I did sense something. I think you will find that demons such as yourself are not only accepted there, they are cherished.”
“Cherished?” Hakkai was having a harder time digesting that than the mess hall food.
Captain Jiki chuckled. The waitress appeared again and started placing the plates on the table. The smell of good food was intoxicating. Hakkai’s stomach turned over.
“The Oasis is a different world. You will see. Unique demons are highly valued- especially one as beautiful as yourself.”
Hakkai blushed again.
“That dagger you carry around, may I see it?”
Hakkai had to shift tracks in his mind. He had been wearing it under his clothes, so he wasn’t aware that other people had noticed it. People must have been talking about him an awful lot to the captain.
Hakkai pulled it out and handed it over to the captain. Hakkai filed away the anxiety he felt by just letting someone else handle it for a while for later introspection. Jiki gazed at it for a few protracted moments and handed it back. “Beautiful,” he said, “like its owner. However, as well as people are treating you, you are wise to keep an eye on it. We do occasionally get thieves.”
Hakkai nodded. “I’m sure.”
“It’s also wise to keep it handy if we get raided. It’s not unlikely. They attempt raids on about a third of our ships. You might find that blade handy in the unlikely event we get over taken. Don’t look so worried- MY caravans have never been lost.”
Through a mouthful of food Hakkai said, “These are excellent.”
“We have a good chef.”
“Send him to the mess hall once in a while!”
Captain Jiki laughed. “I like you, Hakkai-san!”
Hakuryuu was flying outside past the caravan where Hakkai could see him. He spent a lot of time winging above it. His body reflected pink in the setting sunlight. Hakuryuu always seemed to be aware of Hakkai’s location in the caravan all the time. He only had to go near a window and it would not be long before the dragon swooped past.
If he wasn’t soaring above the caravan, he was sleeping in Hakkai’s bunk.
After they had finished eating, Hakkai stood beside the Captain and they gazed out the window. The Captain was so tall that he stood a full head above Hakkai. The sunset had played out its evening glory and the light had settled into a grey twilight.
“Captain,” Hakkai said, “Why am I here?”
The Captain seemed taken aback.
“I thought you wanted…”
“No,” Hakkai interrupted, “I mean here, in your quarters.”
The Captain smiled, “I told you, I like you,” he turned to face Hakkai fully, and Hakkai had to look up to see into his face. The Captain brushed his fingers along the side of Hakkai’s face. “I confess, I let you aboard because I was attracted to you. I want you.”
“Sir, I don’t think the crew would approve…”
The Captains eyes hardened, “Why do you care? You are a demon. If you stay with me tonight, it won’t matter. I didn’t bring you here so you could work for me. Take you’re limiters off, let me see what you truly look like. Give me a chance. I think you might find life on the caravan can be pleasant.”
Hakkai pulled away from him, his face scarlet. “Sir, you are aware that I am in a situation where I must be careful what kind of decisions I make.”
The Captain smiled, “Yes, I am aware. Hakkai, I already know about it, and it doesn’t change anything. If you stayed here, I would covet you- and your child. I will take care of you.”
The Captain was reaching for Hakkai again, but he pulled away. “You don’t know me. How could you offer me something like that?”
“I know enough,” The Captain pulled Hakkai into him and bent to kiss him. It had been a while since Hakkai had been kissed. Hakkai stiffened, but his body of its own reacted. He accepted it for a while, relishing the feeling of physical affection. The one inside seemed to respond too.
But then Hakkai was pushing the larger man away. “I’m sorry,” he said, “I can’t get involved so quickly. I truly have no idea what I want or where I’m going. I cannot start something now.”
Captain Jiki wasn’t so easy to throw off. He was bigger than Hakkai, and outweighed him. He was also physically stronger. Hakkai squirmed in his arms, trying to disentangle himself.
“Come now,” Jiki was saying, “Why so shy?”
Hakkai gave him a good shove, but failed to break free of the grip, “Captain,” he grunted, “I don’t think it would be appropriate…”
“Appropriate? Hakkai, I have already broken propriety for you. At least let me have you this one night! You owe me…”
Green eyes flashed at Captain Jiki in silent fury. Truth be told, had he stayed on his original tactic of soft words and flattery, Hakkai might very well have succumbed to the temptation of staying in a man’s bed for a night. However, when Jiki said “you owe me” the words had a catalyzing affect. Anger boiled through Hakkai.
Captain Jiki’s hands were all over Hakkai. One hand slid down the small of his back to squeeze his ass. He deliberately pushed his fingers up between Hakkai’s buttocks and Hakkai decided he had enough.
Pissed off, and with force into his voice he said, “NO! I don’t owe you my body! Let go of me!”
“Hakkai,” Jiki crooned, “C’mon. Be good tonight…”
Hakkai wrestled with the youkai and was frustrated. The youkai’s arms had vice like strength. Hakkai couldn’t pull free with his strength alone. With the larger man holding him so close he had no easy way of throwing a punch. He made one good attempt to land a chop to Jiki’s throat- a strike that could drop one bigger than Jiki, but the Captain deftly deflected it by catching Hakkai’s wrist.
Jiki caught both Hakkai’s wrists. He dragged Hakkai’s hands around behind his back and his hands were big enough that he could contain both Hakkai’s wrists in one hand. Hakkai pulled and fought, astounded he couldn’t break free. He felt like a bunny in a bear trap.
“Relax, Hakkai. It’s not like it isn’t obvious you have been taken before. Allow me to have you, and I won’t disappoint.”
“No!”
“No? Why? Hakkai, from the first second I saw you I knew I wanted you, even if you are -used goods.”
Hakkai’s eyes flashed and Jiki knew he struck a nerve, “I mean, you are pregnant with another man’s child, ne?”
Hakkai ground out “That is why I don’t want you to touch me! Get your disgusting youkai hands off me!"”
Hakkai made one good attempt to bring his knee up and ball the youkai, but he didn’t get a clear shot. Somehow, Hakkai got the feeling Jiki had practice deflecting such blows.
“You only look more beautiful when you struggle,” Jiki was saying.
“Captain, I mean it. Don’t try and force me or …”
“Or else what? Hakkai, we both know I’m stronger than you.”
Jiki forcefully dragged Hakkai with him to his bedchambers. It was pathetically easy for him to do and Hakkai got a good taste of helplessness. If Hakkai could only free his damned wrists…
“Stop fighting with me!” Jiki barked, sounding angry now. He forced Hakkai face down onto his bed. Hakkai had to turn his head to breath. Jiki pulled the dagger from his clothes and tossed it onto the floor. He was having great difficulty maintaining his grip with one hand while trying to undo Hakkai’s clothing with the other. All the fastenings were in the front of his clothes pressed against the bed, and Hakkai simply wouldn’t stop struggling.
Losing patience, he began to tear the back of Hakkai’s pants.
“Is this what you do?” Hakkai growled into the bed sheets, “Is this the only way you can get off? Raping pretty men? Seems pretty pathetic.”
Jiki chuckled, “Trust me, there are plenty who are more willing. You’re just adding spice to the evening. You’ll come around, they always play hard to get.”
“You think I want this?”
Jiki smiled, “When I’m done with you, you’ll be all mine. I’ll have you thanking the god’s I did this.”
“You have one hell of an ego. I bet you don’t have a dick to match. I doubt you could satisfy me.”
Hakkai winced as his pants were yanked off him forcefully. Jiki was only able to push them down to his knees from where he leaned against Hakkai’s back. He used his weight to keep the smaller demon immobile, while he began to explore his body with his one free hand.
He has to let go of my wrists sooner or later.
“I promise I won’t disappoint you.”
“The food wasn’t that good!”
Hakkai stopped trying to drag his hands out of the youkai’s grip. He was getting out of breath, and being squashed into the mattress was starting to hurt. Flat on his belly was no longer a comfortable position. When Jiki bent to kiss the back of his neck, Hakkai mewled. He froze and moaned as the man ran his lips along the edge of his hair.
The grip loosened.
The hand not restraining him stroked up and down his body. He ran his finger into the crack of his ass, pushing against the opening there. Hakkai bucked his hips up.
“You really are a man.”
“Why does everybody doubt that?”
“You smell so nice,” Jiki buried his face into the back of Hakkai’s neck and inhaled deeply. “You don’t smell like a woman, but you smell pregnant. It’s hard to describe- but I find it extremely sexy.”
“I’m going to make you regret this,” Hakkai growled. He had to bite back a startled yelp when Jiki’s hand pushed up under him to grab at his cock. He massaged the shaft, and all Hakkai could do was squeeze his eyes shut. He couldn’t stop his body from reacting, treacherous thing it was.
“You see, my dear? I won’t make you regret this.”
“You’re going to take me either way, right?”
“Yes, so you might as well lay back and enjoy it.”
“Captain,” Hakkai said breathlessly, “Oooh, Captain…”
Jiki smiled. He wet his fingers with Hakkai’s pre-cum and ran them back up to his entrance. He pushed one finger against it and massaged. Hakkai, moaned, and breathed Jiki’s name. Finally, he released Hakkai’s hands and Hakkai immediately propped himself up on his elbows. Jiki kissed him, spreading his legs, pulling the pants down to remove them entirely.
“Captain,” Hakkai purred, let me roll over… I want to face you.”
Faced with the submissive request, Jiki lifted himself enough to allow the smaller demon to turn over. Hakkai laid there, torn clothes hanging from him, legs spread. He gave Jiki his most lustful look. Pink and orange light highlighted the effeminate features of Hakkai’s face. His tongue came to slowly lick his lips, the light behind his green eyes bellying his youkai nature.
Jiki settled between Hakkai’s thighs. “Stunning,” the big muscle bound youkai breathed. Hakkai pushed his palms up against the large chest above him. He looked into Jiki’s eyes and smiled sweetly. Hakkai purred.
“I am happy you changed your mind,” Captain Jiki said. “My god you are stunning.” He bent to kiss the youkai in his bed. Their tongues met and they drank of each other.
Hakkai’s smile deepened, he whispered into Jiki’s ear, “What makes you think I changed my mind you asshole raping bastard?”
Jiki had only a split second to register the insult before Hakkai hit him with a surge of Qi hard enough to send the man airborne. It was the second time Hakkai had lost control of the strength of his Qi. He had merely meant to knock the Captain off of him- not send him flying. However, Hakkai was not displeased with the result.
The Captain slammed into a wall and crumpled like a rag doll. He lay stunned and semi conscious on the carpet. Hakkai sat up. Glaring angrily at the Captain, he pulled on his torn pants as best as he could.
Walking over to Captain Jiki, Hakkai squatted beside the man. He grabbed him by the hair and pulled Jiki nose to nose with him. “Nobody touches me without my permission,” He growled. And then his voice rose to a harsh cry, “Nobody!” and he slammed his head back against the wall. Jiki passed out completely. “I told you I would make you regret this.”
Hakkai could hear footsteps in the Captains outer quarters. The extra noise had not gone unnoticed. Someone banged on the door. “Captain? You all right in there?”
Hakkai picked up the youkai’s large hand- the one he had used to explore Hakkai’s body. Hakkai was crackling with building Qi Gong energy. It was like the threat of rape had triggered a generator in his body. It pulsed through Hakkai’s body and fueled his anger. It threatened to cloud his vision with gold and green mist. He felt almost as if he had removed his limiters, but the coming of power was more gradual than that. He realized, if this power kept increasing he might just burst the limiters.
Hakkai retrieved his dagger from the floor and it thrummed in his hand.
Big, big fingers the Captain had. One of them, he had pushed into Hakkai’s body. Hakkai selected the offending digit and snapped it.
That woke Jiki up all right! The youkai howled but Hakkai was quick to silence him by grabbing him by the throat. Hakkai was able to silence him with more than just the pressure from his hand. He materialized a tendril of Qi and it infiltrated the man’s neck. Hakkai could vividly sense all the internal structures that made up his throat. It was like when he healed someone, but instead of repairing damage he caused it. He started to strangle him with his life force! Hakkai had not known he could do that. He’d never been able to sense with his Qi so strongly. He had the power to heal with it, and he also had the power to injure. Jiki choked and gagged as Hakkai closed off his airways. His eyes bugged at Hakkai.
He writhed on the floor, arching his back and grasping at Hakkai’s wrist. He tried to use his superior strength to rip Hakkai’s hand from his neck- but Hakkai was already drawing Jiki’s life force from his body. Desperately he reached up and clawed at Hakkai, pulling at his shirt.
The person at the door was persistent. It was a matter of time before they tried to break down the door. They had heard Jiki’s abbreviated cry. There were murmurings and a new voice barked, “Hakkai, open the door!”
Hakkai positioned the tip of the dagger at the edge of Jiki’s eye. He was pleased to see said eye roll to stare at the point scant inches from his cornea. Hakkai smiled sweetly, he leaned close to the dieing demon, “Remember this, youkai scum. I am a Taijiya, next time you die.”
Hakkai watched for comprehension in Jiki’s face. When he was sure he got it, he released the Captain. The man gasped for air, grabbing his throat and sucking in great a lungful. Hakkai stood over him, balefully staring down at him. Jiki could make out the cruel twist of his mouth illuminated by the dieing light from the window. Still stunning. Then, Hakkai turned on his heal and slammed open the door as he left. He stormed past the gawking staff who had gathered outside Jiki’s quarters.
The woman who had served them stood staring at him with her hand covering her mouth.
“What did he do to the Captain?” someone said, “Get him!”
Someone tried to catch Hakkai. A hand reached out to grasp at his arm and Hakkai snapped the wrist before he knew who it was attached too. The man went down without a fight after that. Someone else tried to grab at him, and Hakkai swung the dagger. Something like an electric shock pulsed from the dagger into Hakkai. The man he stabbed gurgled and joined his buddy with the broken wrist.
And then Kanan was there, in his mind. He felt her presence.
My love…she was saying, I want you to live even if you have to kill them all. Don’t let them do to you what they did to me.
Jiki coughed and gagged as he stumbled into the door frame. Youkai officers sought to steady him before he fell back to the floor. None of them had ever seen Jiki taken down like this before. People were staring at him wide eyed and afraid. Hakkai was gone.
“We tried to stop him,” one of his officers said. “He just took two of us down like we were nothing!”
“Should we go after him Captain?”
“No, not now,” Jiki said hoarsely. He felt like he had just been fucked down the throat by a horse. His voice was ragged and broken. He was well aware that Hakkai had been extremely close to sucking the life right out of him. He had taken Jiki down with an ease that struck terror into a youkai who was unused to defeat. He had a new found respect for the small, delicate looking creature he’d assumed he would have in his bed. His finger throbbed, competing for attention with his ravaged throat.
“Let him go. He’s not going anywhere.”
