A hooded figure approached Konran Tower on the back of a dragon. The dragon slowed its pace once close enough to the wall of the tower. A set of bangles lightly rang out as a hand reached up, pressing a palm flat against the bricks. The bangles gave off a brilliant glow as a large window-shaped outline illuminated before the bricks crumbled inside. The figure dismounted from the dragon, floating lightly to the ground. The figure briefly surveyed the room before their eyes stopped on the fallen half-breed.
“Tsuki!!”
Naneko threw her hood back and ran to Tsuki’s side. She eyed over Tsuki’s injury, noting a pool of blood from her chest. She held a hand over her body, focusing on Tsuki’s life force. Naneko let out a relieved sigh, she could still sense life within the half-breed.
“Why are you alone? And where in the hell is Homura?”
“He’s gone.”
Naneko’s head snapped into the direction of a weary voice, dry and worn. She saw Kougaiji only a few feet away, covered in blood as he sat himself up.
“Holy shit, you’re still alive,” Naneko commented.
“Just barely,” Kougaiji replied. Naneko had meant from the whole encounter he had with Seiten Taisei in the desert, but clearly whatever happened in this tower was just as intense. Kougaiji turned to Naneko and saw her genuine concern for Tsuki. “Homura already went through those doors,” Kougaiji gestured to the portal in the room, “Sanzo and Goku went in after him.”
“And he just left Tsuki here to die?”
“If I didn’t know any better,” he continued, “I’d say he was using her the whole time.” Naneko’s blood began to boil, her hair began to float around her as a faint outline of her energies emitted from her body. Kougaiji could feel the rage rippling off the angry succubus. “If you want any chance of saving her, I’d recommend leaving and getting her help right away.”
Naneko’s eyes burned as she stared at the opening. “Hey,” she began, “please watch over her. I’ll be right back.” Before Kougaiji could protest, the succubus launched herself through the threshold with such speed, even if Kougaiji tried calling out to her, Naneko was already through the portal.

Naneko was a force to be reckoned with. Her form was barely visible as she flew through the field, searching for Homura. Her voice bellowed his name, the ground vibrating at the sound of her cries. Far in the distance, she saw a bright blue column of light. The energy radiating from it was intense, Naneko could only assume there was some significance to the power emitting from the bright pillar and ran towards it.
Sanzo and Goku stood before Homura, staring him down. They had been fighting for this moment, to stop him from doing something irreversible. Suddenly, a faint noise could be heard. All three men cautiously looked over their surroundings, confused as a scream grew louder towards the men. Sanzo and Goku turned sharply, surprised at the sight of Naneko approaching them as a cloud of smoke trailed behind her.
“Naneko,” Homura thought, “what is she doing here?” He hadn’t seen the succubus in ages. Perhaps she had heard about his plans through Tsuki. Was she perhaps here to aid him? He would have to instruct her to distract Sanzo while he and Goku fought.
Sanzo sneered at the succubus, not wanting to waste bullets on her. “Naneko,” Goku called out curiously. What awful timing, he couldn’t afford to let this opportunity to stop Homura slip away from him! Goku took a fighting stance only to be met with a gust of wind as Naneko flew past both him and Sanzo.
Naneko slowed herself to almost a dead stop as she leapt at Homura. He looked at her, stunned. Before Homura could react, Naneko landed against his chest, wrapping her legs around him as she grabbed his face. Homura looked at her in confusion as she placed her lips firmly against his.
Goku’s jaw dropped, a sharp, guttural noise escaped his mouth followed by a noise from Sanzo. They both stared in shock at the scene that displayed before them. “Just what the hell is she doing,” Sanzo thought to himself.
Naneko immediately began to pull at Homura’s life force and felt a sharp bite of agony. “What’s this,” she thought to herself, “is he sick?” Naneko had to act quickly as she felt his body begin to tremble under her. She wanted to pull more of his life force, but with as weak as it felt, she couldn’t risk killing him. That wasn’t her goal today. Without time to sample the flavor, Naneko pulled herself from Homura. He stared up at her in disbelief at her boldness before she leaned in real close. The succubus’ breath tickled his ears as Naneko whispered in a low tone.
“You didn’t deserve either one of them, you bastard.”
Before Homura could respond, the flat of Naneko’s palm struck him across the face. He let out a sound upon impact and stumbled as she back flipped off the half-breed. Homura looked at her as she glared back, wiping her lips harshly before turning from him. Homura opened his mouth to call out to her but grunted and grabbed at his chest as he coughed dryly.
Naneko ignored Homura as her eyes turned to meet Goku’s. Naneko recognized the spark in his eyes. She smirked, knowing that it wasn’t Goku glaring back at her. “Long time, no see, my little firecracker,” Naneko sang out. Goku gulped hard and blushed, taken aback by the flirtatious comment.
She let out a sigh as she flipped her curls. “As much as I’d like to take you on,” the succubus began as Sanzo cocked his banishing gun, “I’m afraid I’ll have to take a rain check.” Naneko shifted her eyes to Sanzo and narrowed her eyes. “By the way,” she continued, “I have something that belongs to you.”
“Like hell you do,” Sanzo remarked as he aimed his gun at the succubus. Naneko chuckled as she sprinted towards him and Goku. They tensed up before being engulfed in a cloud of debris and dirt kicked up by Naneko as she ran past them.
“There’s something wrong with your caaaaarrrrrdd......” Naneko’s voice trailed off as she shouted to them and disappeared far into the distance, back towards the portal.
Sanzo and Goku coughed harshly as the dust began to settle. Sanzo looked at his hand, feeling something hard and thin. He tucked away his banishing gun and swatted at the dust as he saw his gold card sitting in his hand. Sanzo’s mood turned sour as he read the note on the card which simply said “maxed out” with a miniature drawing of Naneko winking back at him.
“YOU DAMN SUCCUBUS,” the priest shouted at a cloud of dirt. Sanzo took a deep breath before turning back to Homura who straightened himself. “Next time I see her, I’m gonna put a bullet through her head.”

Naneko exited the portal, quickly approaching Tsuki. She walked past Kougaiji who was still sitting on the floor, holding his abdomen. Naneko knelt down next to Tsuki, who she could still tell was very weak. She gently placed her hands above and below Tsuki’s open wound and closed her eyes. Kougaiji limped over to the two curiously and watched.
“I will never forgive him,” Naneko breathed softly, “This is the very least he can do for you.” Naneko took in a deep breath, calming herself as she concentrated on Tsuki. A soft light emitted between her hands and Tsuki’s body. Naneko steadied her breathing as she felt the transfer of Homura’s life force she absorbed travel into Tsuki’s body, circling around the wound as it travelled closer to the edges. Some light squelching noises could be heard as she felt Tsuki’s body accept the life force and heal itself, speeding up the healing process and closing the open wound.
Kougaiji let out a small sound in awe, knowing that something was different about Tsuki but wasn’t exactly sure what it was. When Naneko was certain Tsuki’s physical injuries were sealed and the open wound healed shut, she let out a heavy sigh.
“What did you...”
“I had only brought enough of my reserves for myself in case something happened and I got dragged in. What I didn’t consider was that Tsuki would have been left in such rough shape. I only took what I could from Homura to at least heal her physical injuries.” Naneko looked up at the window in the wall, hooked her pinkies between her lips and let out a high pitched whistle, calling for her dragon. “But this is only temporary. I need to take her to a specialist in order to save her.”
Naneko’s dragon softly landed near her as Naneko gave a light nod to Kougaiji who limped over and helped lift Tsuki and gently lay her over the back of the dragon.
“Where will you take her,” Kougaiji asked.
“I know someone that specializes in healing all sorts of beings; humans, demons, half-breeds. I’m certain she’ll be able to help with Tsuki.” Kougaiji nodded at the succubus as he winced, holding his injury.
“Out of curiosity, why didn’t you go after them,” Naneko asked as she mounted her dragon.
“We’re all a little worse for wear. It’d be pointless to try and fight when you’re half dead. Besides, we have the Seiten scripture again.”
“Not that I hold any loyalties, but whose side are you on,” Naneko asked. Kougaiji coughed harshly, covering his mouth and catching blood.
“I don’t fight on anyone’s side. I fight for myself.”
Naneko smiled, she had heard that phrase being said like it was a mantra. What was it about Goku’s party that resonated with that phrase so well? Naneko held her hand out to Kougaiji.
“While this is not the first time I’ve seen you, this is technically our first meeting. I’m sure our paths will cross again soon.” Kougaiji looked at her hand, perplexed by the implication that they’d meet again. “Thank you for your kindness in helping me with Tsuki.”
Kougaiji skeptically extended his hand out to the succubus. When their skin touched, Naneko immediately focused on the contact, gripping his hand and quickly began to drink in the dark chocolate of his life force. Kougaiji felt the electricity within his hand, an emptiness within his arm and he snapped his hand away from her.
“What the hell was that,” he exclaimed. Naneko traced her lips with the pads of her fingertips before lightly nibbling on them.
“Mmm, that was delectable,” Naneko sang. Kougaiji took a step back from her. “Don’t worry,” she continued, “I’m sure you wouldn’t survive a few minutes let alone a full round. I just wanted a small sample. Like I said, I’m sure our paths will cross again.”
With that, Naneko snapped the reins and the dragon pushed off, heading back towards the opening she had created earlier and quickly put distance between herself and that tower.
