Leara raised her leg to give her boyfriend better access to hidden place. A sigh from her broke their kiss for the briefest moment upon feeling playful fingertips brushing past the cover of her panties. She wiggled her hips, urging the intruder to break in; however, the door flung open, and with it so did she.
"Did I mention I hate Science!" Toboe griped. "Because, I do." He dropped onto his bed, face up, staring at the ceiling in complete drained-mode.
"That bad?" Gasper inquired.
Toboe started from his stupor, turning his head. "Oh, hey guys, when'd you get in here?"
The pair looked at each other then back at their mentally bedraggled friend. "We've been here." His roommate replied.
"Who were you talking to, if not us?" Leara wondered.
"Huh? Oh, no one.. just ranting." Taking in the scene, he paled. "Oh, sorry. Am I interrupting something? I can leave," he sat up and pointed at the door with his thumb, looking very much like a hitchhiker in need of mobility.
Leara began, "Well-.."
But she was cut off. "No. Don't go." Gasper got off the bed. "If you're so fed up that you're talking to yourself, you need companionship." He dropped down beside Toboe, his arm draped around his roommate's shoulders. "We can get a drink; a good buzz can cure anything. Or order-in?" He looked to his girlfriend. "Leara, any ideas?"
Leara had an idea. Kick Toboe out, and resume her boyfriend finding his way into her. She's dying to have sex with Gasper. He's so hot, and her need is completely gasoline ready to burn. But Toboe is mucking it up. Too many things have been! It's like the guy is afraid of going all-the-way. She can't figure out why. She has lube, she has female condoms in-case he has nothing in the protection department. Why the big stall. She won't go spreading it around. She's not that kind of girl.
"No, guys, it's fine." Toboe removed himself from the arm around him. "Besides, I don't drink and I'm not hungry right now."
"You don't?" Gasper cocked a brow.
"No. I'm - - we're underage.. remember?" He felt a need to remind them each of that.
"Yeah, but," his roommate stated hautely. "We all manage to sneak a little something. You mean to tell me Tsume's never given you a drink?"
"Never. He doesn't even drink much himself, apart from wine once in a while." Toboe hated the brief pause. He doesn't actually know. He's never seen Tsume going into bars, his boyfriend drinks at home, but not often. He's either trying to set a good example or he just doesn't do it often. "Why are you so surprised?"
"Oh, well, older guys with younger guys usually drink a lot."
Toboe scoffed. That was the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard. "I need to get to work; you two can get back to being alone." He got up from the bed and headed for the closet to grab his uniform. It's not an official uniform, just standard employee dress-code of looking neat. He ran his hands through his hair. 'Trim time; a pinch is one thing, but an actual tail is too much.' He still had a pinch, thankfully, but he noted that a trim was still in order sooner or later.
He felt a pair of eyes on him; it's been a month after exposure, but it would seem his roommate still wasn't used to just ignoring his burned body. It was fine, it would pass. Leara wasn't looking, but she used to. Cheza never looked, even once he'd told her what had happened and invited her to look. She glanced and told him that she was sorry he has suffered. It was sweet. He respected that. Some people say gross and try to touch him. Needless to say, despite trying to live as completely uninhibited wasn't always easy. He quit many sports teams at school because of the kids at school, who don't know how to be kind.
His shirt slipped over his shoulders, then he buttoned it up. He stepped into the closet to change his pants then he exited; a quick goodbye escaped his mouth then he left for work. He actually had an hour before work, and it would only take him ten minutes to get there. But, he could tell Leara wanted some privacy, so he gave it to her. And listening to Gasper get all Kiba about Tsume was plucking his nerves. Not even Kiba accused him of being intoxicated just so Tsume could have his way with him. And why is he so interested? Tsume can date him, it's legal.
"It's not creepy!" He shouted into the air. It was hard to stop it. The words just sprang forward in the bubbling emotions. "He's just jealous because I've got a guy who loves me, and he's loose. Dating all those people; the guy is jealous because he can't settle."
"Excuse me!" A male voice called to him.
Toboe, making sure, pointed to himself then mouthed: "Me". Receiving a nod, he cautiously walked over. "Hi."
"Hello. You're um, Beter Walker?"
Toboe furrowed his brows, until it dawned on him that it was one of the many fake names he'd used when showboating with Tsume around town. Beter Walker - - he's not even British! He needs to get something more fitting and stick with it. "Uhh, yeah, what's up?"
"I wanted to know if I could get a few pictures, and maybe an interview for my magazine?" He asked. "I've been trying so hard to talk to you, one on one. It hasn't been easy."
Toboe heard Tsume's voice in his head, telling him that no one can be trusted. That he should be wary of people wanting interviews. They could be legit or con artists looking to score some story to twist or to offend in some way. People used to make up things about him and Faye Valentine - - it was easy when the former model was staying with the older woman. And Tsume got into that car accident that resulted in a nasty scar on his chest.
'So he's where those creepy feelings have come from.' Toboe cocked a brow, taking in the reporter. "What magazine?"
"Celebrity Wi-Fi. Here's my card, if you want confirmation." He removed a business card from his jacket pocket.
Toboe studied it. It looked real enough, but it could be a staged call. It's not impossible to custome create such lavish business cards. He'll check the name out later by going to the website. He's no dummy. He can't let himself slip up. No one can know the truth about his and Tsume's past. It's too complex for them, and utterly scandalous to everyone else. 25 and 14 don't mix - - especially when sex gets involved.
"I'll take you up on that interview, but, I have work and can't be late." He explained. "Can we do it some other time?"
"Sure! Just call the number, I'll meet you anywhere. But," he added. "Can it be before the thirtieth? We have a deadline, you see."
"Sure. I might even call after work."
"Thank you." He raised his hand. "Have a nice day."
"You, too." He crossed the street awkwardly, since the reporter was going that way, as well. But they thankfully parted ways after that.
...
Toboe looked through the employee roaster for Celebrity Wi-Fi and it was true, Coleman Geoffrey was on the list, and the photo matched the man he'd met on the street earlier. Egon returned from lunch with a pleasant smile and kind greeting.
"What are you looking at?" He asked the young man.
"Some journalist or reporter, I don't know how to address him, but he wanted to interview me about my boyfriend."
"Tsume Keina, right?"
"Yup." He said proudly.
"Sounds suspect. Hope he's not out for dirt on him." He looked at his fellow employees phone screen. "What Magazine?"
"Celebrity Wi-Fi."
Egon smiled. "Oh good. They don't do hack stories. They usually say really nice stuff."
"Really?" He felt the knot in his stomach ease up.
Maybe he'll regain his lost appetite. He really got himself worked up about the interview because one, it's too wide a spectrum for mistakes, if he agreed to do it. And two, if he turned it down, the journalist might keep hounding him until he embarrasses himself - - or worse, Tsume! His boyfriend would be pissed if he screwed up his career. Ruined his life. Got him branded as a predator! Toboe paled again.
Egon patted his shoulder. "Don't do it if it freaks you out this much. You look completely ill."
"I... I don't think it's gonna be so bad. I'm just freaking myself out." He hoped.
...
Toboe Wolf sat down on the bench beside Coleman Geoffrey. He's nursing a cold can of iced tea between his hands while waiting for the artillery fire to commence.
"Nice to see you again so soon," he smiled all sugary-sweet.
Toboe kept his nerves down by looking at the sun reflecting atop the man's horseshoe pattern. It's a cold sun, as the season has begun the shift. "Mhmm." He replied tightly.
"You don't have to be nervous." He grinned again, as if to make it seem like they are merely old friend's catching up.
"Yup. Uh-huh."
"Let's start by your name,"
"My name?" Such a foreign concept. What was that fake he'd been addressed by earlier. He'd given out so many. 'I can't believe I forgot!' He mentally pulled at his hair. "Uhh," Damage control time. "I lied before, my real name is Alex Black." He could be an Alex easily.
"Alex, thank you." He held the recorder closer to not miss a single word nor inflection as he's now getting the truth from the young man. "I'd like to ask you some questions about Tsume Keina, you're seeing him right? Dating?"
"Yeah. We are."
"How long have you two been together?"
He was sure to keep the correct responses nowhere on site. He did not need a quick response telling the truth. He can only keep the lie close at hand. "About.. I think six months or so.."
"Oh, six months?!"
Resisting the urge to ask why that sounded so disbelieving by him, he awaited the next question as he gingerly sipped his tea, which only seemed to aid his dry throat rather than relieve it.
"How did you two meet? It's not every day average people get to meet up with celebrities as big as Tsume Keina." His eyes sharpened, just a bit. "Did you fanboy and follow him around?"
"Me? Stalk someone?" He shook his head so rapidly that his hair resembled burnt spin-art before the whirling stopped. "It was completely by chance,"
And he told the man what he had told Gasper Lee, about meeting at the park, the stationary store, meeting up again this year, and having a mutual attraction to each other. Nothing sinister, predatorial, or upsetting about it. Just two guys who came to like each other. Fate. He ended the lie.
"Fate. Yes." The man nodded. "Lucky you're such a good friend to have wanted to get an autograph for them."
"Yup. I always put my friends first." He smiled sincerely proud of that trait about himself.
"Was that your first date, back in late August?"
"Huh? Umm, first one out in public." He nodded. "I was a bit shy about it because I didn't think that Tsume was out publicly and that maybe I'd embarrass him because I'm younger than he is. But, he said he feels nothing but care for me and wants to show-off that he's happy - - if I didn't mind."
"Tsume sounds very cool." Commented the journalist. "Have you been to his home? I heard it's gorgeous."
"Yup. And, it is. It's a studio apartment, with a second story like a loft."
"What's he like at home? All business like in interviews; who's Tsume Keina with his hair down?"
"He's great! Loose, chatty.. He likes a robe over his pajamas.. Um, just average. Like anybody else - - well, better looking, but just like everyone else." He laughed.
'This is a bit more personal, but, if you don't mind my asking.." He fired. "Have the two of you been intimate."
Toboe patted himself on the back for not sputtering his drink. He cleared his throat, then answered. "Yes, many times. We sit close, hold hands, kiss, give each other compliments and gifts.."
Geoffrey held up his hand. He had a look that said he was talking to an idiot. "I meant, have you slept together."
"Once or twice - - oh, you mean sex," Toboe played dumb. He knew what the guy was getting at. But, he painted the man out as immature to the steadily recording recorder. "No. Not at all; we've only been together six months."
"Six months is a long time between some lovers. A young man like yourself, and a star like Tsume, who is in many amorous scenes in his past films."
"Film. That's important to understand." The clever young man informed. "Speaking of films, he has a new thriller coming out."
"I've seen the trailers, it's called Broken Knives."
"Yeah. And he's doing a lot of the action himself. I was on set and saw him."
"Amazing."
"Mhmm. He's also currently working on a BL, it's his first television drama. Modern June."
"BL? That's Boy's Love; it's become very popular. I'm not surprised Tsume has his finger on the pulse of popularity."
"He does." He affirmed happily.
"Aren't you jealous?"
Toboe earnestly laughed. "Shouldn't you ask his co-stars that?" He replied. "Even simulated Tsume's love is amazing; you've seen him act. He's a natural."
"Yes, he is. My wife has dragged me to a few movies with her." He added with a suspicious tone in his voice. "Have you met his co-star?"
"Uh-huh. Aabroo Smith. Nice guy."
"Is he gay?"
"I don't know." He knew the ma n for all of a minute; how would he know something like that?
"If he was would you be worried?"
"No. I know the difference between acting and reality."
"That's great." After a few more questions he thanked the young man for his time, then told him when the article would be out. "One more thing,"
Toboe resisted rolling his eyes. "Ok?"
"Have you seen the news?"
"The news? Why?"
"Oh, nothing. I'm sure Tsume's boyfriend knows the truth better than any tabloid."
"Exactly." He grabbed his can; he gave it a quick jiggle noting that it was empty. "Whatever nonsense that tabloids say is just that." He slipped on his backpack. Extending his hand, he shook the journalist's then walked away.
"I'm glad you're so level-headed. I'd be insecure if my wife was so desired,"
"I try." He smiled kindly. "I have to get back to campus; was that all the questions?"
"Yup. Everything will be printed by next month."
"Bye."
"Have a good day."
Toboe was relieved it went so well. However, he was annoyed that the guy was hinting at something. Tsume said to expect such things, but to have someone purposefully try to direct his attention to it. He had to know. It's his right to know, he decided. So, on his way back to school, he checked the news on his phone.
"Tsume Keina, blah, blah... acting partner were seen out-and-about four days ago."
He read that the pair were being cute at a pet cafe, and enjoyed a drink and live music together that evening. There were pictures. Toboe frowned. Lies were one thing, but pictures... He blew out a breath. It's a lie. Simple as that. He nodded and turned off the screen. He can't believe nonsense like this every time. He'd look like the fourth Stooge. Larry, Curly, Moe, and Toboe. No thank you. How many times over the years has some trash magazine described Tsume having love affairs? Too many! And what did Tsume tell him? It's all lies. He waited for him. Never strayed. Never thought about it.
Tsume loves him, and he loves Tsume. End and periodt.
He rubbed his stomach, glad he skipped lunch. He rubbed the back of his neck, a sudden sense of uneasy came over him completely wiping out the queasy. Looking around him, he felt his fears lift. "Hey, Gasp'!" He called to his roommate. He got up from his seat at the light to sit beside his friend. "What're you doing riding the bus? Didn't you see me, we coulda sat together."
Gasper shook his head that he hadn't seen Toboe get on the bus.
"Where are you coming from?" Asked the fellow bus traveller.
"My parents, family dinner night."
"At five?"
"I have a night class, so dinner was moved up."
"Oh." He looked out the window to check the location from his designated stop. "I talked to my stalker today."
"What?" He looked at Toboe as though he's truly lost it.
"Relax," he assured. "It was just a journalist for a magazine, he wanted an interview. Mostly he was digging for info on Tsume's private life."
"Even still; don't you know how dangerous that could have been?"
"But it wasn't. Chill out." He waved it off. "Wanna get something before we get home?"
"I just ate at my mom's, I'm good. But, I'll keep you company. What are you in the mood for?"
"Umm, golden arches?" It was a request rather than insistence.
"You sure like McDonald's. How many times is that this week, Wolf?" He snickered. "You're gonna look like my aunt Samantha if you don't start eating better." He pinched his side. A bit lower than his side, it landed more hip bone.
"Cut it out, or I'll leave you stranded and hungry."
"That's impossible, I'm full."
Toboe made a face to that. "So, how did it go with Leara, you two finally..." He let his friend finish his sentence.
"A little bit." He seemed to blush.
"What's a little bit?" He really wanted to know. It sounded perverted.
"I'll tell you back at the dorm. Ssshh!" He nodded to a guy eavesdropping.
The roomies walked back into the door after dinner. Toboe changed out of his work clothes; Gasper told him about what happened with his girlfriend.
"Wow. I'm shocked, I didn't think she was that type of girl."
"I didn't think I was that type of guy."
Toboe, dressed in his night clothes, put on a sly smile. "I know I like 69, but would you do it again?"
"In a heartbeat." He replied quickly.
Toboe laughed while saying. "Gross."
"Naah."
"Y'know, I never did find my boxers."
"Maybe someone took them by accident but is too embarrassed to return them."
"Not being able to return them is far more embarrassing than having taken them by accident." Sitting on his bed, he waved his hand outward to get attention; though, he already has it. "Can you believe that reporter was trying to make me jealous of some tabloid pictures, what riot that guy."
"Jealous, how?"
"Some paparazzi took photos of Tsume with his co-star, they tried to start rumors like they're together." He chuckled. "Tsume wouldn't cheat one me, not with someone in the same field as him. He's not weak to fall for someone because a scene was well acted."
"He might. You seem so sure about Tsume, you haven't been together for very long though. Toboe, it could happen."
"No way."
"Yes, it could."
Toboe shook his head. "I'm gonna brush," he left the room. And he was sure to bring his phone with him. He has a call to make to a certain someone, who right now, had better be alone.
