Chapter 18
Eh... Not too happy with this chapter, but I really couldn't think of a way to rewrite it...
--------
BOOM!
The people wandering the streets below jumped and looked up for the source of noise and found a Dragonite coming into view; it was actually slowing down. The Pokémon and its rider continued toward the woods just beyond the city, and landed there.
Nimh slid off its back. “Nice work, I think we made it just in time.” He said, patting the Pokémon’s shoulder. He looked at his Pokédex one last time. The little white dot appeared just to the southwest of Cianwood, not far from where he was standing. “Hey!” he shouted, running into the trees. “I know you’re here! Don’t you dare take off again!” Had anyone else seen him, they’d have thought him insane, he thought vaguely.
A white flash.
“I know you can hear me; I know you can understand me. Please... Wally’s hurt, he’s dying... I need your help.” Nimh stayed still, watching and listening for any sign the creature was still there.
“Mew?”
He breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank God...”
The white Pokémon stepped out, slowly making its way toward him. Nimh blinked. It was so small... He’d always thought it was just a trick of the light, since every other time he’d seen it, it was so far away. It stopped just a few feet away from him, leveling its unfocused gaze at him. He smiled. “You’re waiting for me to catch you... aren’t you? I know most trainers wouldn’t hesitate to throw a Pokéball at you, but somehow... I just can’t bring myself to do that to you.”
It tilted its head, listening to him.
“I dunno, it’s just something about you. I feel like I’d be committing some great, unforgivable sin if I captured you. So please, just this once, screw whatever rules or codes you Legendaries live by and help Wally?”
----
He would... remain free? He blinked in surprise. Humans never ceased to amaze him... He gave a small nod and stepped toward Nimh.
‘Please... Take me...’
The trainer didn’t hesitate, grabbing one of the small white paws and running back to the city.
