Author: Jigoku no Miko

Author’s Quote: If love flies on fiery wings than let it brand my soul

“We’re here you know!” Chichiri whispered still holding Kana in his arms.

“Wow it hasn’t changed a bit.” Miaka cried.

“Cripes it looks just like ancient China!” Taka yelled in surprisement.

“Man it’s been to long!” Tasuki added.

“Miaka!” Lai-lai cried flying towards them before hugging Miaka.

“You’re okay, I didn’t see you at Mt. Tikyoku and I was so worried.” Miaka whispered to the little girl.

“What is that?” Taka stuttered.

“This is really inconvenient can’t you get some of your memories back?” Tasuki muttered.

“Oh Chichiri! Priestess of Suzaku! Tamahome! Kana! Oh look and Tasuki too!” Hotohori’s prime minister cried running down the veranda and greeting them all. “Is something wrong with lady Kana?” He questioned looking at the pale girl in Chichiri’s arms.

“I think she has fallen ill can I put her somewhere to lie down?” Chichiri questioned before Kana stirred.

“No, I’m fine I promise.” Kana reassured him at a weak whisper. Chichiri looked down at the girl questioningly.

“You should lie down.” He diagnosed.

“I’ll be okay once I’m back on my feet.” She dropped the hint before Chichiri stood her up. The large group went to a large dining area to talk with the prime minister.

“A stone you say?” The prime minister echoed.

“Yes sir right now they’re the only clue we have.” Miaka whispered.

“I see I’ll a have search begin right away for them.” The prime minister said before two guards that had been standing next to him left the room. “Anyway lord Chichiri if you aren’t in too much of a hurry won’t you stay here for a while?”

“What? Here? You mean in this palace?” Chichiri stuttered.

“Yes. we’ve been working our hardest to rebuild this city ever since the war, but one thing still saps the strength from our people.” The minister closed his eyes.

“The death of Hotohori.” Kana whispered.

“The city still lacks a leader who can be a bridge to the future.” The prime minister opened his eyes again.

“What about Houki that woman who looked like Nuriko?” Tasuki questioned.

“Right after giving birth to the crown prince the empress fell ill and hasn’t spoken a word for a year and a half.” The minister shook his head.

“A year and a half? Minister where is lady Houki please let us speak with her.” Miaka stood.

“Lady priestess? Thank you ever so much.” The minister closed his eyes once again before bowing his head.

“But first can we eat this?” Miaka questioned before everyone sweat dropped.

“She’s in here.” The prime minister whispered showing them the door to Houki’s room.

“Lady Houki… Hotohori.” Miaka whispered before opening the door and looking in just to see Hotohori sitting on the bed next to where Houki slept attempting to stroke her face lovingly but his hand went right through her.

“I can’t even touch her.” Hotohori whispered.

“A broken heart, she couldn’t stand the grief of losing Hotohori, she loved him so very, very deeply.” Lai-lai whispered with grief.

“Houki… forgive me.” Hotohori whispered an apology he knew she couldn’t hear before the door closed and he noticed the others had left.

“We should leave him alone for right now no da.” Chichiri whispered to the group as they stood outside the door

“So this is where Hotohori ended up.” Tasuki whispered.

“Taiitsukun’s powers did it. The others were sent back at their homes too.” Lai-lai stated matter-of-factly.

“Well that’s a relief.” Miaka put a hand on her chest and let out a sigh of relief.

“Come on we better find the rocks for this loser.” Tasuki mocked.

“Sorry about this…” Taka apologized.

“Chichiri can’t you find them?” Miaka questioned.

“This is one thing I can’t use my powers for no da.” Chichiri sighed before Tasuki looked to Kana.

“Don’t look at me.” Kana held up her hands and shook her head.

“Oh well than I guess we’ll search for them one room at a time than.” Tasuki whispered.

“Oh no you can’t go that way!” A voice cried from around the corner before a young boy about 5 months shy of two years of age ran into Tasuki’s shin with his head causing Tasuki to yell.

“That looked painful.” Taka whispered.

“Why you little rock headed brat!” Tasuki yelled.

“Prince!” The man that had yelled from around the corner said standing next to the small boy.

“Cute little devil, don’t tell your dad I said that okay?” Tasuki apologized once he realized who he had yelled at.

“Prince? Than you mean…” Miaka trailed off.

“This is Hotohori’s son.” Chichiri finished and introduced at the same time.

“He’s so cute.”

“So he’s Hotohori and Houki’s son.” Miaka cried.

“Come highness lets go back to your room I promise I won’t take your doll.” The man said trying to coax the child.

“I gave that doll to your daddy before.” Miaka whispered kneeling in front of the child before he pulled the bear he was carrying closer. “Don’t worry I won’t take it. What’s your name?” She questioned in a reassuring tone.

“See you want to smack his head too right?” Tasuki whispered to Miaka.

“Priestess of Suzaku it is no use. Prince Boushin will not speak one word, it’s just like with his mother it’s as if his mouth ahs been sealed. He seems to understand our words but…” The prime minister explained.

“What do you mean!” Hotohori yelled appearing next to Miaka.

“Hotohori don’t pop out like that!” Miaka yelled after jumping.

“Can’t you see it? It’s me. He looks just like I did at his age the loveable intelligence, the obvious wit and grace and yet still…” Hotohori boasted.

“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me.”

“What a narcissist.” The group mumbled in the background.

“Everyone get away from that doll!” Lai-lai yelled before the dolls seems ripped and tentacles shot out capturing everyone in it’s grasp.

“What the hell…” Tasuki yelled.

“It’s a monster no da!” Chichiri stated the obvious.

“No, Boushin stop this!” Miaka cried.

“Highness please drop the doll!” The prime minister yelled.

“It’s no use I can’t use my holy powers without hitting the prince!” Lai-lai yelled.

“I can’t use my flames either!” Tasuki added.

“I can’t afford to try it cause I might hit the prince.” Chichiri added to the other two statements.

“BOUSHIN!” Hotohori yelled before possessing the young child.

“Hotohori.” Tasuki choked.

“He’s possessed him!” Chichiri added before Hotohori ran his sword through the monster making it disappear. With the monster disappearing everyone who was caught in its limbs were dropped to the ground, Tasuki dove on his stomach under Miaka so she would have something to land on.

“Tasuki, thanks.”

“No prob, what else was I gonna do? Now get off your heavy.” Tasuki mumbled.

“Right… sorry.” Miaka stuttered before getting up.

“Tasuki’s really been holding his admireability since you returned, he even kissed you back at the lake.” Chichiri blurted.

“Huh?” Miaka tilted her head.

“It’s called artificial respiration.” Tasuki cried out defensively.

“Well we’re safe thanks to you Hotohori.” Taka whispered.

“Yes, the swords holy power killed the demon. I’m a bit shocked at being able to do this myself.” Hotohori summed looking at the sword which was still in his hands.

“Wow Hotohori you’re a real father.” Miaka cried. At her statement Hotohori dropped his sword and began running down the terrace.

”Hotohori where are you going?” Miaka called after him. As the others watched Hotohori go running down the terrace Kana came to from her unbeknownst to anyone else state of unconsciousness just in time for Chichiri to kneel in front of her.

“Yeah I’m fine come on lets follow him.” Kana whispered before the two followed the group of people in front of them who had the same idea.

Chichiri and Kana arrived in the doorway just in time to hear Hotohori apologize for filling Houki and Boushin with grief.

“Please forgive me.” Hotohori pleaded.

“Oh highness I missed you so much.” Houki whispered. Taka slung his arm around Miaka’s shoulders and pulled her close as did Chichiri with Kana.

The eight situated themselves around the room and asked the lady Houki if she had ever seen one of Tamahome’s jewels of memory.

“Jewel of memory?” Houki echoed holding Boushin on her lap.

“Yes without them Taka- Tamahome will disappear.” Miaka whispered.

“Now that you mention it… I always though it was an illusion.”

“Thought what was an illusion?”

“It was just before I gave birth to my son, I saw a light blue stone appear in front of my eyes, it gently entered my womb, I remember how warm it was. Just after that when our son was born the warmth passed out of me. I thought it was just an illusion brought on by labor.”

“Is it with him?”

“You mean… the jewel is INSIDE of him?”

“All right leave this to me! C’mon spit it out! Chichiri hit him from above with Hotohori possessing him he’ll be alright!” Tasuki yelled shaking Boushin up and down upside down before Chichiri stood next to him.

“What are you doing to my son?!” Hotohori demanded kicking the two of them.

“Chichiri how could you agree to such a asinine plan? And what did I ever do to you to make you put a stone in my son Tamahome!” Hotohori yelled.

“I didn’t put it in him!” Taka put his hands up in defense before Hotohori began beating on Tasuki.

“Excuse me, I have come to feed his majesty.” A woman carrying a tray whispered from the doorway. As soon as the woman entered Kana felt the pain that had overwhelmed her earlier engross her body once again.

“Right, we will continue this later my son must be fed.” ‘Eat well Boushin and grow up quickly’ Hotohori thought releasing Boushin from his possessed state.

“Come here young prince.” The woman whispered before Boushin walked over to stand next to the table. Unknowingly the woman had a knife under the tray and slashed at the prince as soon as he was close enough.

“She isn’t human!” Chichiri cried after the blade sliced his arm open.

“One after another they show up.” Tasuki gritted through his teeth.

“Out of the way Taka! Rekka Shienen!” Tasuki cried out sending flames at the woman.

“Did that get it?” Taka questioned while the flames were still swarming her.

“Not quite.” Lai-lai cried flying foreward “San… zen… ha!” she cried using her holy powers to inflict more damage. “This things tough.” She summed landing back on the ground.

“I’ll handle this!” Hotohori stated stabbing his sword through the demon. “I won’t allow you to lay one finger on my son. NOW BEGONE!” He yelled focusing all his energy in the sword before the monster was destroyed. Houki sat on the bed with Boushin in her lap, in the mist of the demons departure Houki found she could see Hotohori.

“Highness.” Houki whispered before Hotohori looked at her wide-eyed.

“Houki… you can see me?” Hotohori whispered.

“Yes, I can see you.” Houki reassured him. Boushin turned in her lap to look at the new comer in the room. “You see him too don’t you Boushin? You know who he is don’t you? Yes that man is your father.” Houki sighed setting Boushin on the ground, immediately Boushin began walking towards Hotohori arms out.

“Boushin… my son… come to me.” Hotohori knelt on one knee. In the back the others stood in the doorway Miaka and Taka in a loving embrace while Kana finished wrapping the wound on Chichiri’s arm. Unforunately for Boushin and Hotohori’s sake when Boushin went to Hotohori he stumbled through him and landed on his knees behind him before starting to cry. Houki looked away saddened as Hotohori covered his mouth in an attempt to stop the tears from coming.

“Enter me, enter my body.” Taka whispered leaning next to Hotohori. “Unlike evryone else I’ve only got half of my memories, so there’s plenty of room in here.” He smiled.

“Tamahome, I am in debted to you.” Hotohori whispered before taking place as part of Tamahome and picking Boushin up off of the ground.

“Boushin… I am… I am a terrible father, I can’t be here at you or your mothers side but you are always with me in my heart. Boushin… gorow up quickly and become a strong and noble man, and than as much as I did, no, more than I did love your people, become a great leader who will build a world of peace and protect your mother as a son should. I know you will be able to… you are… my most prescious treasure.” He whispered embracing the young boy.

“Pa… pa…” Boushin whispered before Hotohori’s eyes grew wide.

“Boushin…” Houki whispered.

“Boushin… what did you just…?” Hotohori whispered before the young prince whispered it again.

“Pa… pa…” He whispered again.

“Boushin…” Hotohori’ eyes filled with tears.

“Papa!” The young prince cried happily, with a smile on his face he touched Tamahome’s cheek. Suddenly the jewel of memory that had been inside of Boushin appeared an Taka remembered Hotohori.

“Yes Tamahome even the power of the kodoku was no match for the love that you and Miaka share. The strength from which you protect Miaka comes from your love for her and your gentleness. Thank you for lending me your body Taka.” Hotohori explained taking a seat next to Houki and Boushin.

“Hotohori.” Taka smiled.

“Isn’t it great Taka we found the third jewel.” Miaka sighed holding Taka’s arm.

“Yeah I remember that time in the rain Miaka.” Taka whispered before the familiar red glow engrossed them. “What the…?”

“It’s Suzaku, they’ve been surrounded in the power of Suzaku.” Chichiri stated.

“They’re going back to the other world.” Tasuki said watching the two.

“Everyone, I promise we’ll come back, we’ll find the forth jewel.” Miaka yelled before the two disappeared.
