Chapter Eighteen - "Frosted Paths"





I have everything I sought out to get. I tore apart the heart of that Davis fool, I proved my theory on Fire, I have my girl at my side, and I have proven to you that I CAN be loved. I have nearly everything in my hand except the Digital World worshipping me - and yet, it all feels so hollow - aside from her. Nothing else feels...full anymore. Have I changed, Wormmon? Have I taken my eyes off the true reason I\'m here? Has chasing after the murmers of my heart caused me to loosen my grasp on goals? Or is it more? I truly feel less willing to destroy the little ones who stand to defy me. But, I still would. Is that because I haven\'t completed my task of dominating the digital world? Wormmon, have I become less \'evil\'?

"I\'m sure I can find a portal anywhere on earth - so, where exactly is it that your mother lives?" Ken asked as he tugged on his clothing the next morning. He could still remember how she felt around him, how glorious it was to be inside her, how her moans had driven him wild.

"She\'s in Churchill." she replied offhandedly, pulling on her own clothing as well. Ken stopped in the middle of pulling his pant leg on, and stared at her.

"We\'re going to Manitoba? Can\'t your mother live somewhere normal, like California?" Jade opened her lips to reply, but at that moment, Requimon glided in through the door, and took a perch on the foot of Ken\'s bed, effectively cutting a hole into the cotton fabric.

"Well, I had half a mind to raid you two last night; that was disgusting. Wormmon and I could hear you echoing through the friggin\' whole place. It was retching me. Humans....Mating. Gross. I mean, could you scream any louder?" he spoke, staring pointedly at Jade, whom reddened faintly. "I mean, shit, I knew there was chemistry but that\'s friggin\' disgusting. If you\'re gonna pound \'er again tonight Mister Emperor, then at least be quieter about it." Ken\'s eyes thinned; how dare that little ingrate speak to him like that.

"If you\'re lucky you fucking little virus, I\'ll turn you into a pair of loafers."

"JUST TRY IT! You couldn\'t design a COFFEE COASTER." Requimon snarled, bearing his teeth. Jade clamped a hand on his muzzle, and shot him a sharp look.

"Don\'t antagonize him, Requimon. He\'s being extremely nice to us, and despite your attitude towards him, he let you free for MY sake. Now don\'t blow it and get you scaly butt caged again. I won\'t come to your rescue. You can\'t just talk back to people you don\'t like. Now be quiet for a bit." she snapped, then released the digimon\'s muzzle. He glared at Ken, but folded his wings and said nothing. Jade then turned to Ken, and gave him the same scolding glance. "And you, don\'t snap at him like that. He\'s a viral dragon, he\'s like that by blood, so back off a bit, huh?" she barked at him, a dark flare in her eye. Ken blinked a few times, rather surprised by her attitude.

"Did you seriously just tell me off?..." he spoke, in a thinking tone. Jade realized just what she\'d done, and gasped at her own reaction. She sat down on the bed, and stared at Requimon, whom had also been looking curiously at her. "Did that really happen?"

"I\'m sorry, I don\'t know what came over me..."

"I\'m rather impressed, really. I don\'t think I\'ve met anyone bold enough to tell me off like that...I assume however that I\'d simply pissed you off by talking to your digimon like that." Jade said nothing in reply, being far to surprised at herself. After an awkward pause, Ken took her hand, and tugged her up to stand. "Come on. Let\'s go freeze our buns off, and see your mother." Jade smiled once again at the thought. She hadn\'t seen her mother in a long time, thanks to work and lack of money. Her boss paid for all her work-related flights.

"Sounds good."

Jade excitedly rapped on the door to the small home fixed on a rather large property, which was covered in a few feet of snow, while Ken wrapped his arms around his chest, shivering. The cold didn\'t seem to affect Jade whatsoever. As the door creaked open, Jade was beaming.

"Hello?..." came the small, suspicious voice. A blue eye peered through the crack, and after a second, the door flew open to reveal an older, more weathered version of Jade. Ken\'s eye raised faintly, noting where Jade got her looks from. "Jade?..." she spoke, sounding very confused. Jade lept forward, and tossed her arms around her mother, whom tightly hugged her in return. "Well, come in and shut the door!" the woman spoke, her eyes switching back and forth from Ken to Jade as she ushered them inside. "How did you get here? Who is this boy?" she asked, while rushing off to the nearby kitchen to fix some hot chocolate.

"This is my new, uh, boyfriend, Ken Ichijouji, mom. He flew us out so I could see you."

"Isn\'t that the name of that famous genius?" she called from the Kitchen. Jade gave Ken an awkward look.

"Sorry...I get my sense from dad..." she spoke softly. Ken laughed softly, and nodded faintly.

"Introducing me as your boyfriend now, are you? Was my performance that impactful?"

"Well, what else would I tell her? You\'re my master in the digital world, you own me, and now we\'re sleeping together? Boyfriend is much simpler." Ken\'s smile faded. He\'d only been teasing; but, did Jade think he had any other intentions but to claim her as his lover? Perhaps he\'d wanted her as a slave before - but now, he\'d claimed her as more.

"You didn\'t sleep with me simply because of that, did you? A sense of duty?"

"HEY, D\'YOU GUYS WANT MARSHMALLOWS? AND COME GET SOME MUGS FOR ME, EH?" Jade\'s mother called out, cutting off Jade\'s reply. Jade shook her head faintly, and stepped off with Ken in tow. The day would be very very long, he thought, as they slid into the Kitchen to help.

"So, when is your flight back?" Jade\'s mother asked, as the trio had sat down in the living room to enjoy the chocolatey drink.

"In the morning," Jade replied, before Ken could reply. "Just after lunch." Ken shot her a curious glance - didn\'t she want to stay longer?"

"Awww. I was going to get you to help me stall the boys."

"Stall the boys?..." Ken questioned, before Jade could interrupt him. She shot him an apologetic glance as her mother bounced up, and snatched a vile of liquid from a nearby table.

"This is Polar Bear sperm." she spoke, tossing it to Ken. In reflex, he grasped the bottle, and hid a rather horrified expression. "I breed Polar Bears for Zoos and Wild Game Farms." she explained, sitting back down as Ken placed the vile back on another table.

"If you\'re a breeder, why do you have viles of sperm on your table?" Jade\'s mother chuckled.

"Well, that\'s just for resale. I also sell sperm to places looking to test tube and impregnate without a stud. To get that, I gotta stall \'em and make \'em think they\'re on a female with a fake female. It\'s-"

"MOTHER!" Jade shouted, shooting her mother a \'shut-up-please\' glance.

"Well, he asked..." Jade\'s mother frowned, sipping a bit from her hot chocolate.

Most of the day, the trio spent their time talking mostly about the various stories Jade had uncovered, cooking meals, and drinking vast ammounts of hot chocolate. It felt almost like home again, like it had been so long ago, before she had to fly many places for her job. She honestly hadn\'t been home in almost a year. The only difference was, Ken was here; but strangely enough, that felt normal, too. She\'d have to return to the digital home tomorrow; but even this reminiscense of a life now long gone was nice. Ken had done it for her; he\'d had no other real reason to need to come here.

"Well, do you guys want to have some late-night nachos? I\'ll run out and grab a movie." Jade\'s mother spoke, as she poured the umpteenth cup of hot chocolate for the trio.

"Sounds fun! Get something with guns and blowing up. I\'ll snatch a shower while you\'re out though." Jade replied.

"Suits me just fine." Ken added.

"What about the Punisher?" Jade\'s mom suggested, wandering off towards the living room, where Ken and Jade were sitting. Just then, the phone rang, and Jade\'s mother frowned.

"Silly interruptions," she commented, then plucked up the reciever. "Hello?..........Oh my. Okay, I\'ll be down in a few." she hung up the phone, then strode towards the door.

"I\'ll be back in while, guys, sorry. One of the studs got loose and got into a female\'s pen. He\'s getting agressive, so I\'ve gotta go down and dart him. I\'ll grab a video on my way home. Jade, have that shower and get the nachos ready to bake, okay?" she spoke as she went out the door. Ken blinked a few times, and set down his hot chocolate.

"That happened rather quickly."

"Yeah; well, when a bear gets out, she\'s gotta scramble. She\'s the only one who\'s allowed to tranq a bear."

"Mmm. Well, I\'ll find my way in the kitchen if you want to shower, Jade."

"I\'ve been dying for a shower here for months. Mom\'s got this dual massaging head, and its so wonderful. I daydream about this shower head. Thanks!" she spoke excitedly, and scurried off down the hall as Ken stepped off towards the kitchen. Jade happilly slid into the bathroom, not bothering to shut the door. He\'d already seen her naked; why bother? She reached past the glass frame, which was half open, and turned on the water. Just the mere thought of being in there made Jade purr with happiness as she peeled off her clothing, which had turned into a rather old looking grungy sweat suit, ironically. So much for satin. While she was here, she could get something new. The glorious shower head was better than the feeling chocolate gave you; and considering she\'d just had several cups, that certainly showed how much the loved her shower. After five minutes of simply relaxing in the wet heat, she reached to the shelf, where her body soap was. It hadn\'t moved an inch - her mother had kept it for her all along. Smiling, she popped open the strawberry scented soap, and placed some in her hand. It was her favorite smell, and she used to use it almost every day. She tilted her hand to place it upon her chest, when a hand not belonging to her scooped up most of the pink gel. Jade gasped in surprise, but within seconds, knew whom it was.

She moaned softly as her nerves simmered in the pleasure from her orgasm and the now slower, gentler pleaure that began to perk up different nerves. "Well, you know now. I don\'t want you to be mine - I want you to me mine. That make sense?" Jade smiled softly.

"Yeah, it does." she kissed him softly. Sure, it\'d all happened very quickly, but love never needed to make sense in the realm of time. She wanted him, he wanted her. That was all that mattered, right?
