Yes, Fuji does in fact flutter. Shut up.

CHAPTER 18
Kirihara received the long anticipated phone call allowing him back into his apartment. Tezuka had managed to hush the entire event up, leaving Kirihara as well as the rest of the Hunters out of police custody.
That only left the repairs. They weren’t extensive, but blood was a bitch to get out of carpets.
“You’re going back to your own place now?” Ryoma gave him the full force of his puppy-dog look.
Kirihara simply nodded. Ryoma’s look was good, almost the best he’d seen. Almost. Kamio still had the most effective puppy-dog look.
Kirihara thanked the Echizens for their hospitality. Rinko had been more polite, but still distant. He was almost happy to be out from under her watchful gaze; he was tired of being treated like a wild beast. Maybe once he read the file he'd know why she treated him that way, maybe he would even sympathize with her.
Ryoma pouted the entire way to the Organization. Kirihara scowled at him, it wasn’t like he was moving away and would never see him again.
“You’re being a child,” Kirihara said finally.
“I’m allowed to,” Ryoma crossed his arms and stared out the window.
Kirihara blinked, “how do you figure that?”
“Because!”
He sighed, knowing exactly where the conversation was going and not up for a round of ‘because why?’ ‘because’. Even though his partner was well over 20, he still fought like a preteen when he was upset.
Ryoma’s mood darkened further when Tezuka switched up the pairings. Ryoma was ushered off by his partner for the day and Kirihara found himself face-to-face with Kaidoh. They were to patrol the small residential area; mostly apartments and town houses. The streets were swept clean and lined with leafy trees. Buildings were squished side by side, leaving only enough space for a driveway and something resembling a front yard.
Kirihara attempted to strike up a conversation with his quiet companion but went down in a blaze of glory. He settled instead for, “all we need is a frigging dog and we won’t stand out so much!”
Kaidoh smirked, “I think it would make us stand out more. We’d look a bit more …domestic.”
Kirihara thought about that for a moment; currently they just looked like two average boys walking side by side down the side walk. With a dog, they’d look a lot more …together. “And a dog would probably scare him away.”
“Not if it was a small dog?”
“I’m not walking a god damned toy poodle!”
Kaidoh tilted his head, his hair falling into his eyes without his customary bandanna to hold it back, “they make little dresses for them, I’m sure you’d look cute walking a poodle wearing a little tennis skirt. Besides, the hair would match.”
It took Kirihara a moment to realize Kaidoh was teasing him, “…HEY!!” Okay, so he was getting a little shaggy around the ears.
“Just tie a little bow on the top of your head and you’d look like twins.”
“I will shoot you, you know.”
“Hai, hai,” Kaidoh wasn’t the least bit threatened. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and tilted his head back to his face was in the sun.
“Asshole,” Kirihara muttered, Kaidoh only grinned.
The sun started to go down and neither had seen the boy. After contacting the other teams they decided to retire to the Organization.
Kirihara said goodbye to Kaidoh as the Hunter headed up to the Clinic. He hung around in the lobby, trying to decide what to do next. He needed to talk to Fuji, he just didn’t know how to find him. The front doors slid open with a chime and Yuuta walked in with Kamio. Not exactly the Fuji he was looking for, but it was close enough!
“Oi, Yuuta, can I talk to you for a second?”
The Hunter nodded slowly, “yeah, sure. What’s up Kirihara-san?”
“I need to talk to Fuji, but I don’t know how to find him.”
Yuuta frowned, “if you need my brother for something, it can’t be good.”
Kirihara shrugged; he was trying to steal from Tezuka’s office, that pretty much ranked right on top of his bad-idea metre.
Yuuta frowned deeper, “Kirihara-san …”
Kirihara mentally slapped himself, he forgot Yuuta was a telepath, “what?”
“I don’t know exactly what you’re thinking, but I know it’s something bad and it has to do with Tezuka. Is there any way I can talk you out of it?”
Kirihara smiled softly, “no.”
Yuuta sighed, “Syuusuke usually heads up to Tezuka’s office after he wakes up.” He turned towards the elevator.
“Thanks,” Kirihara paused, “h-how’s your sister?”
Yuuta froze with his hand on the up button. He glanced over his shoulder with an almost shy smile, “she’s better. They let me see her the other day.” The elevator opened and he slipped inside before Kirihara could reply.
Kirihara took the next elevator up and paced the hallway leading to Tezuka’s office. The sun had finally gone down and as Yuuta had said, Fuji stepped out of the elevator.
“Fuji-san!” Kirihara blocked his way to Tezuka’s office.
The Vampire smirked and tilted his head, “yes?”
“I need to ask you a favor,” he pressed his hands together over his head and bowed, keeping his eyes on the Vampire. It was an awkward way to watch someone, but he wasn't stupid enough to take his eyes off him.
Fuji stepped close to him, tilting his head up as he trailed his hand around Kirihara’s neck. His other hand rested against the Hunters chest as he pressed their bodies together. “I do not do something for nothing, Kirihara-kun. What do I get for doing this favor for you?” He purred against his jaw.
That file better have some earth-shattering info! “Anything you want.”
Blue eyes snapped open almost comically wide and Fuji’s face broke into a wide grin, “anything?”
“That’s what I said.”
“ABSOLUTELY anything?”
“Yes.”
“You promise?”
Kirihara knew he was going to regret it, “yes."
Fuji looked like a kid who’d just been told Santa crashed his sleigh into his roof and he was going to have to keep all the toys.
Yep, he was most definitely going to regret it.
“Well, what favor do you need?” Fuji continued to grin, but his eyes had slid closed again.
“I need you to get Tezuka out of his office and keep him distracted for a while.”
Piercing blue peeked between long lashes and Fuji’s grin turned into something more sinister, “I think I can handle that. Do you mind me asking why?”
“I need something, but he can’t know I’m getting it.”
Fuji nodded. Kirihara didn’t need to worry about Fuji tipping off Tezuka, he was too pleased with their deal to compromise it.
“When?” Fuji trailed his hands down Kirihara’s chest to rest on his stomach.
“Tomorrow night?” Kirihara had a feeling he better get used to Fuji pawing at him.
“Perfect. I’ll collect my debt later.” He kissed Kirihara on the cheek before fluttering past him.
Kirihara shuddered, oh he was going to regret this. There better be a god damned file with his name on it and it better be pretty fucking amazing!
The elevator doors opened before he had a chance to hit the button and two males stepped out. His eyes narrowed as he regarded the two, he had never seen them before. The first was fairly tall, not quite a head taller than Kirihara himself. His hair looked like it couldn’t decide between being blond or dark gray. It flipped up at the ends like natural curls cut too short had a tendency to do. His worn leather jacket was draped carelessly over one shoulder and his black long-sleeve tee shirt was pushed up to his elbows to reveal an arm wrapped from elbow to knuckles. The other male was Kirihara’s height and his black hair was styled in something resembling a faux-hawk. His silver hoops clicked together when he shook his bangs out of his eyes. He glanced at Kirihara as he passed, a look of casual disinterest on his face.
Tezuka met the pair at his door. “Shiraishi, Zaizen-kun,” he looked mildly surprised.
The first said something quietly and Tezuka nodded as he stepped aside to let the two into his office.
Kirihara stepped back to get a better look and bumped into something solid.
“Oi,” jackal chuckled.
Kirihara looked back over his shoulder, “Kuwahara-san! I thought you were still on patrol with Tachibana’s sister?”
Jackal chuckled again, “just got back. What were you staring at?”
Kirihara pointed to Tezuka’s office, “two strange guys just went in, never seen them before. I think Tezuka called them Shiraishi and Zaizen?”
“Ah! Shiraishi Kuranosuke and Zaizen Hikaru.”
“Are they Hunters?”
Jackal shook his head, “more like peace keepers. They’re a lot more popular with the supernatural community than we are because they don’t actually hunt them. They kind of …keep the peace between the humans and the creatures.”
“Then what are they doing here?”
“Hell if I know,” Jackal shrugged.
Shiraishi leaned back in the chair across from Tezuka’s desk, hands clasped on his crossed knees. Zaizen stood behind him, studying the numerous pictures on the walls.
“I have some new information,” Shiraishi started.
“You didn’t have to come see me directly, a phone call would have been fine.”
Shiraishi waved his hand, “we were here anyway. We heard about what happened to Atobe.”
Tezuka nodded, “the past little while hasn’t been easy on him.”
“I noticed. I saw the story on a cover of a tabloid the other day.”
Tezuka rolled his eyes, “the price of celebrity status.”
Shiraishi chuckled, “something about involvement with the mob and running illegal drugs in coffins?”
“Wow,” Tezuka dropped his face into his palm, “Atobe was supposed to contact me tomorrow after several meetings he’s having to let me know how everything will be covered. Hopefully that won't be the story they decide to tell the press.”
“It’s strange how they know that was his lair, it’s not like it was his only club. It wasn’t the flashiest by far, either.”
Tezuka nodded, “strange indeed. You said you had news?”
“Ah, right!” Shiraishi nodded and sat up straighter in the chair, “as it turns out, Chinen may be head of the Coven – High Priest, whatever, but he only does charms and simple spells. He doesn’t do anything high profile, so he wouldn’t have had a hand in the attacks.”
Tezuka sighed, that was not the news he was looking for.
“But.”
Tezuka looked up, “but?”
“There is someone who belongs to the Coven that does. No matter who I talked to, I couldn’t get his name; they’re too afraid of being cursed. This witch has a reputation for helping Vampires, he’s ridiculously powerful.”
“Powerful enough to confuse a Vampire?” Tezuka leaned forward over the desk.
“Why?”
“Niou Masaharu was following the Vampires that attacked his Master’s lair when he could suddenly no longer sense them.”
Shiraishi tapped his bottom lip as he thought, “that sounds more like Ancient Vampire tricks to me.”
“But none of the Vampires there were old enough for such magic.”
“Tezuka, I think you need to start treating this like something way more powerful is pulling the strings here.”
“What the hell is going on?”
Shiraishi sighed, “I really wish I knew Tezuka.”
The Hunter cursed softly, “if you find out anything, please let me know.”
“Of course, the others are talking to some of the underground groups,” Shiraishi stood and bowed.
Zaizen fell into step behind him as they left the office. Fuji emerged from the shadows behind Tezuka’s desk and followed the other two.
“Shiraishi-san,” he purred.
Shiraishi glanced back over his shoulder, “ah, Fuji-kun I presume?”
The Vampire smiled, “yes.” He glided around the taller male, fingers trailing cross his shoulder as he came around to stand before him. He continued across his chest and down his stomach, “how long do you plan on staying in town?”
Shiraishi smiled, “not long, we were going to catch the train back at dawn.”
Fuji sighed, “pity.” He caught Zaizen glaring at him over Shiraishi’s thin shoulders, “I apologize, I didn’t realize he was taken.”
Zaizen’s eyes widened as he blushed. A thin eyebrow arched as Shiraishi turned to regard his companion with a slight grin. Zaizen turned on his heel and walked a little too briskly to the elevators. Shiraishi wished Fuji a good night and caught up to Zaizen. He grabbed his ear gently once he was within arms reach. The younger boy shivered violently enough Fuji could see it from down the hall. Zaizen jerked away from the offending hand and promptly swatted at his companion.
Fuji grinned, remembering to file away that little memory for future reference.
