Disclaimer: You must be 18+ to read this story. I do not own To Love Ru or any of its characters. I also do not make any money/profit while I make this story. |
Note: It's now time for us to check back on Shiro and co and see what they've been up to since we last saw them. We did see Shiro briefly in the previous chapter, but he was used as a comedic effect, and he and Tommy were at each other's throats. Tommy must be paying Shiro some good money, seeing that he continues to work for him and put up with him.
This chapter was originally two chapters combined into one. On a side note, I noticed that the original Chapters were too short for my liking, so I decided to combine them to make it one big chapter. Mind you, it's not ten thousand words long, but it is over five thousand words long, which is the usual goal that I have for my chapters. I always try to make my Chapters at least five thousand words long to make them decent chapters. But sometimes, I don't always reach that goal. If I try to reach that goal at a certain point, it gets to the point where I feel like I'm dragging the chapter for its sake, and it starts getting less and less interesting. That's why I combined the two chapters into one.
One more thing to mention is that this will be the last chapter that I will be covering for Shiro. Axel Emiya will cover Shiro's Adventure side of the story starting from chapter twenty. As you all know, Shiro's Adventure was an all-stand-alone side story for the Drogon Universe. I believe we were able to get up to ten chapters before Axel's job started having him work more hours, making it difficult for us to continue with the story. Because of this, Shiro's Adventure went into creative limbo for quite some time.
But thanks to this new Re-Telling Of Drogons, we can continue with the story and continue where we left off. Chapter twenty will be the last chapter where Axel and I worked on the story together before his job had him work more hours. After chapter nineteen, Axel will take over for Shiro's Adventure side of Drogons since Shiro is his OC, and he knows him better than anybody else. If I were to continue with the story myself, I'd most likely not have Shiro be the person he's meant to be. That's why I was so hesitant to continue with the story by myself because I wasn't sure if I would be able to uphold the standards for Shiro's character.
As of September 2nd, 2021, I have no idea what Axel will include for Shiro's Adventure. After looking through the lists of ideas for the story, I have a generic idea, but even that could change on a whim, or he could expand on that idea. Anything can happen at this point. But regardless, I can only assume that it will be amazing, and I hope you guys will love it, too, when we get to that point.
Anyways, I kept you guys up long enough. It's time to get started on this chapter. Also, this should be without saying, but I would like to thank Axel Emiya for helping me put this chapter together. So go check out his stories after you are finished reading this chapter.
With no further ado, let's get started on this chapter.
Warning: This story is NOT for readers under the age of eighteen. The story will have coarse language, violence, nudity (including the private parts), and sexual scenes. (Including sex scenes). Chapter Eighteen:
September 22nd, 2017:
In The Afternoon:
On A Date... I Mean Outing:
Shiro stood in the central plaza wearing his casual clothes. He was waiting for Cassandra to show up, though he looked dead tired.
"I can't believe I spent the last four days figuring out where we should go and came up with nothing and didn't get any sleep. I'm screwed. I wonder if it's too late to go home? (Shakes his head) No, I can't do that. It's too late to turn back now. If I leave now, she'll think I stood her up, making me look bad. I should have bought a coffee before I came here, though. MAX coffee, to be exact, is not that bitter shit. Seriously, How people can drink that stuff daily and not get sick is beyond me.
He felt a tap on his shoulder, and he stiffened.
"Thanks for waiting for me, Shiro. You didn't wait too long, did you?
"No, I just got here," lied Shiro.
Even though he arrived three hours earlier than scheduled to pace around, trying to devise plans for the day, he was a filthy liar.
Cassandra twirls around, "Well, what do you think of my dress?"
Cassandra wore a strapless dark blue summer dress with white flowers and dark blue flip-flops. The dress came down slightly below her hips, showing off her amazing thighs and legs and half her cleavage. Looking up at her dress, we see her wearing purple silk panties, and that the back side of her dress was only covering three quarters of her amazing round butt. She was also holding a purple purse.
Ah crap, he forgot this was a date; she went so far as to dress up and everything. Even in casual attire, he felt underdressed. Still, she was beautiful in every way possible.
Shiro blushes, "Ah, you look stunning."
Cassandra giggles, "Thank you. So, what are we going to be doing today?"
Shiro thought for a moment about what to do.
"Hmm, have you eaten yet? I know this great restaurant we can go to. And It's not too far from here."
"Okay. I am starting to get hungry."
Shiro takes a sigh of relief, "Awesome, let's get going. So have you ever heard of Puck's Hat and Claws Tavern?"
"I've heard of it, but my parents forbid me from going there."
"Really? How come?"
"My parents always told me never to go to a restaurant for "The Common Folk."
She means she is forbidden from entering a restaurant for people from rich families like her.
Shiro nods, "Hmm..." He grins, "All the more reason we should go. It's a great place."
"Okay."
And so, Shiro and Cassandra walked to the restaurant, chatting with each other along the way. Finally, they arrived at the Puck's Hat And Claws Tavern. Since Cassandra is from a rich family, she was always brought to fancy restaurants by rich people, and those restaurants looked amazing at how fancy they looked. Although Shiro is taking her to a restaurant for the common folk, she expects the place to look decent. Even when Cassandra lowered her expectations for this restaurant, this restaurant did not meet them, not even close. This restaurant was an old, run-down restaurant that was in desperate need of repair. The place looked like it was about to fall apart at any minute—Cassandra was shocked and disgusted at what she was seeing. On the other hand, Shiro kept a fake smile, pretending nothing was wrong with the place, even though he knew that was a lie.
"Shiro..."
"Y-Yes?"
"You told me this was a great place..." She said as she glared at him, "Right?"
Shiro chuckles nervously, "It is."
Shiro mustered his best poker face trying not to give away his disappointment.
"But it's falling apart."
"I can see that."
If you had told him five years ago, this was one of the finest restaurants in town. He would've agreed with you in a heartbeat. But now, he can't look at Cassandra and say that. I mean, just look at the place!
*Crash!*
Even the rooftop was worn down and falling apart. This place certainly has seen better days. How the hell has the people who run the place not been charged for an unsafe working environment. The whole place was a safety hazard. Shiro could only imagine that the people inside would have to dodge pieces of the roof falling onto the floor.
Shiro sighs and chuckles nervously, "Hehehehe. Safety hazards aside. I swear the food here is to die for. That is if the roof doesn't do you in first."
"I'm beginning to realize why my parents didn't want me to be here.
"It's not that bad, I promise. I know the old man that runs the place."
"Is it edible, at least?"
"Probably..."
"Probably?!"
Shiro was starting to get nervous, "Y-Yeah..." He said as he slowly gave a weak thumbs up.
At least it wasn't a maybe; that would've made things worst. But it probably wasn't the best answer Shiro could give. But it was the only honest one he had. And in the end, Cassandra caved in.
"Okay, I'll give it a shot."
"That's the spirit! Come on, and I'll even introduce you to the owner," He said, holding her hand, and Cassandra blushed when he grabbed her hand.
Little did the two know, Alyssa and Christina were spying on Shiro and Cassandra:
"Just who does this jerk think he is? Taking Cassandra to a run-down restaurant and grabbing her hand as if she's his property?! Who the hell does he think he is?!"
"Christina, I think you're overreacting."
"If he hurts her in any way. I swear I'll destroy his reproductive organs. He'll never have children."
"I think we need to get you some help."
Shiro then takes Cassandra inside the restaurant. A female waiter greeted them with a smile.
"Welcome to Puck's Hat And Claws Tavern. You can be seated anywhere you...like-"
"Yo... is the old geezer in today?" Asked Shiro.
The female waiter drops her menu on the floor, "Mr. Puck! It's Mr. Shiro... he's back!"
"Huuuuhh!? So that little brat came crawling back here after all these years?" Asked a voice.
The floor shook violently as a tall, dark-skinned old man came out behind the kitchen. This was Puck, the owner of this fine run-down establishment.
Shiro grins, "Hey, old-timer... how long has it been you old coot."
Puck looked annoyed, "You called me old twice in the same sentence, you brat. I'll have you know I'm still in my forty's."
"More like late forty's. Forty-Nine..." Taunted Shiro.
"That's still young!" He noticed Cassandra behind Shiro, "Hmm, who's this lass?"
Shiro steps away and pushes Cassandra, "Go On; he won't bite.
"Um... Hello..."
"What, have you forgotten proper introductions? Huffed Puck, "I'm Puck, the fine owner establishment you're speaking to!"
"Wow, I was polite to you; you don't have to be so rude to me."
Shiro sweat drops, "Pop's a bit rough around the edges, but he means well. Don't mind him too much. His old age is getting to him."
"I'm not old, you damn brat!" Puck mumbled.
Meanwhile, Alyssa was holding Christina back after Puck was rude to him.
"I'LL KILL HIM! I'LL FUCKING KILL HIM!" Screamed Christina.
"Christina, calm down!" Shouted Alyssa, trying to hold Christina back.
Back At The Restaurant...
"Very well, then, pardon my manners. My name is Cassandra Winterson. It's a pleasure to meet you."
She wasn't hiding the venom dripping through her voice. Puck noticed as well and scoffed.
"Ah... it's a pleasure...as...well-"
Puck stared some more at Cassandra as if she had grown two heads. He must've finally realized who he was talking to.
"Um... Pardon me for one moment... Shiro, can I talk to you for a sec?"
Puck wrapped his arm around Shiro, bringing his head close enough to whisper.
"Brat, explain! What's her kind doing here?!" Whispered Puck to Shiro.
"Huh? Her kind?" Shiro whispered back.
Puck groans, "The rich folk. They have no business in a place like this! Haven't I taught you not to tangle with their kind?"
"I'd argue you didn't teach me jack shit other than cooking for myself. So no, I don't know any better!"
"Oh... my bad," Said Puck, realizing that Shiro had a point, "But still, why bring her here?"
Shiro stares blankly at him, "No money. Now feed me! You old geezer!"
"Aha! Why didn't you just say so?" Shouted Puck.
"Excuse me," said Cassandra, peaking in, and Puck and Shiro looked at her as if she had two heads, "I couldn't help but notice there's no pricing on the menu. Why is that?"
Puck and Shiro stared at her, then at each other.
"You never told her?" Asked Puck.
"It must've slipped my mind," said Shiro.
"Hmm? Tell me what?" Asked Cassandra.
"This is a pay-as-you waste establishment. It primarily targeted the homeless with a big appetite. So if you eat your whole meal, it's free. But you waste your pay," said Shiro.
"Wasting food is the same as wasting time and money. It also wastes resources that could go to making food for the homeless. You waste food, and I'll charge you an arm for a leg," said Puck.
Meanwhile...
"WHAT?! He took her to a homeless shelter?! Does Cassandra look homeless to you?!"
"You took me to a homeless shelter?" Asked Cassandra.
Shiro nodded, "I did."
"Why?"
"To show you the place I grew up in," said Shiro with sadness.
"You grew up here?" Asked Cassandra in shock.
"Yeah. I'm sure you've heard about the genocide on Mundus. The planet where I was born and the Maxwell family originated. I was one of the sole survivors of that event, and I fled to Earth. With no money, no friends, or family to rely on. Every day was a struggle to survive with so little food. But one day, Puck found me and gave me a place to stay. I can never repay him enough," explained Shiro.
"It's a pain in the ass taking in a stray. Be grateful for things you DO have, brat!" Shouted Puck.
"I'd be more grateful if I didn't have an old geezer nagging on me twenty-four seven!" Shiro retorted.
Puck huffed and crossed his arms. Fortunately or not, the female waiter came to his defense.
"You should know, Mr. Shiro, that Mr. Puck never stopped talking about the moment you left. It was adorable how he worried you don't call every day," said the female waiter.
"O-Oi, Anna! Don't spout such nonsense! Get back to work! Go wash the dishes or something!" Shouted Puck.
Anna giggles, "Aye, Sir!"
"Huh? Since when have I ever been called Mr. Shiro before?"
"Eh? You don't remember? It was the week before you struck out on your own. I hired a new assistant to help around here; you trained her personally," said Puck.
"What!? She was that Miss. Screw up!? Wow, time sure flies by; I hardly recognized her!" Said Shiro in shock.
"Wait, how long ago was your planet attacked?" Asked Cassandra.
"Hmm? Let's see..." Shiro begins to think, "Was it five? No, six years ago. Yeah, that sounds about right. I've been living on Earth for a while now."
"Oh, wow. I didn't realize it was that long."
"Yeah. It's been a long time indeed."
Shiro's eyes grew solemn. He was getting discomfort; Puck noticed and stepped in.
"Alright, lass, enough small talk. I run a diner, not a love hotel. Quit your yammering and start eating. Tell me, what's your favorite meat?" Asked Puck.
"Um, do you have steak?" Asked Cassandra.
Puck groans, "Of course, though, for more of a challenge..."Rich people and their steak," said Puck under his voice.
He walked off and mumbled quietly to himself.
"Hey, old-timer, give me the usual!" Shouted Shiro.
Puck pouted and waved, entering his kitchen.
"There's no menu or pricing. Puck usually prefers to cook meals based on the preferences in meat," said Shiro.
"Why is he so rude, though?" Asked Cassandra.
Shiro shrugs, "Hmm? "That's just how he is. Do you think this establishment would still stand if people walked all over him? He's already kind enough by serving the people around here free food."
"I guess you're right."
"There's an old saying; It's not the face that makes someone a monster. It's the choice they make with their life. Cause at the end of the day, action speaks louder than words."
Cassandra nods, and they both finally take a seat.
Out of the corner of his eyes, Shiro noticed a shadowy figure on top of the ceiling with a dagger in his. He popped out of nowhere!
"Watch out!" Shouted Shiro.
Shiro slams Cassandra to the floor, narrowly dodging his knife to her neck, saving her.
"Ow!" Cassandra said as she landed on the ground.
When Cassandra fell on her back, she landed with her legs spread open, revealing her pink panties.
"Sorry, I'll make it up for you later," said Shiro.
Shiro grabbed Cassandra and threw her out of harm's way. Shiro then kicks the attack as the Assassin lugs at them, flying over the counter.
"Oh, not bad, you were able to react to that! I heard you were an amateur at fighting. At least it won't be boring," said the Assassin.
Here, Shiro was able to get a better look at the Assassin. He was 6'1 feet tall and weighed 180 pounds. He appeared to be twenty-eight years old. He has short black hair down to his ears and black eyes. He also wears a black eyepatch covering his left eye.
"Shiro!" Screamed Cassandra.
"Stay back; this guy is dangerous!" Shouted Shiro.
The Assassin rolled off the counter and threw several knives toward Cassandra. Shiro tore off a wooden round table and used it as a makeshift shield to block all knives.
"You should worry about yourself, kid! Stay out of my way if you want to live," said the Assassin.
Shiro grunted as he blocked a severe slash from the Assassin, hacking away at his shield.
"Ngn! I can't use magic in a small place like this. Gotta, I get him out somehow?"
The Assassin twirls around a special collared knife, different from the rest. And slash through the table as if it was made of butter. He also received a fetal wound towards his abdomen.
"Shiro!" Cassandra cried out.
"Grk!" He coughs up blood. No way, that knife... don't tell me that's!?
Shiro clutched his stomach. This wasn't good; he was losing too much blood. The Assassin laughs and twirls his special knife.
The Assassin laughs, "Oh, this do-hiki? That's right! This sacred artifact is the same magical device forged by the ancient noble Maxwell family. I call it Karmabite. Even the toughest metal in the known universe can't withstand a slash from this blade: A perfect weapon choice for an assassin!"
The Assassin leaned forward with a smirk; he used the knife to cut along the side of the face. Shiro said nothing, only glaring at him.
"Oh, I love the look in your eyes. I can tell you'll be a pain in the ass if I don't finish right here. I acknowledge your resolve. Tell me, what's your name, kid?" Laughed the Assassin.
"Shiro... Yuuma Mashiro."
The Assassin licks his lips, "I'll remember the kid who foolishly had the balls to throw away his life for someone else.
"Stop it! Please, don't kill him!" Cried out, Cassandra.
The Assassin ignored her plea and thrust his knife into the base of Shiro's neck. However, Surprised by his sudden hilt, he was suddenly grabbed and lifted into the air.
"Oi! That's enough out of you! I run a diner, not a bar. Take your little scuffle outside! You're disturbing my business!" Shouted Puck, and with that, Puck threw the Assassin outside through his window, which shattered, "Great, now I'll have to get that replaced!
"Get this whole building replaced! It's falling apart!" Shouted Shiro.
"Mr. Puck!" Cried out, Cassandra.
"Mr. Shiro! Ms. Cassandra! Are you all alright? Hold on, and I'll heal you right up!" Said Anna as Shiro groaned as he got up.
"Forget about me; it'll heal on its own! Protect Cassandra. I'm going after him!"
"Are you crazy! You're going after him in your condition?!" Asked Cassandra.
"I... I said it would heal on its..." Before he could finish, he coughed out blood.
"Mr. Shiro, please, let me heal you!" Begged Anna.
Puck stared at Shiro, who only stared back at him. Shiro bowed his head.
"Please, take care of her," said Shiro.
Puck huffs, "Oi, Brat! Whatever you plan to do... don't die on me, understand?!"
Shiro nods silently, "Ah...thank you a lot. Old man."
"Shiro!" Shouted Cassandra.
"Please wait, Mr. Shiro!" Begged Anna.
Shiro ignores them as he hops over the broken window and is greeted by the sight of the Assassin. He sat on top of a closed metal trash can, no doubt waiting patiently for him.
"I commend you for not running away, kid, though had you run like a coward, I would've still chased you around. I admire your spirit, but now you've interfered with my work twice. I can't let you live. No hard feelings, right," said the Assassin.
"If you have a new stalker now, at least have the common courtesy to introduce yourself. You know my name, but I don't yours unless you prefer to be called Mr. Stalker."
"Cute, I'll enjoy cutting that smart ass mouth off yours. But since you did earn my respect. I'll indulge you just a little. My name is Chao Fhei-Xiong. I'm a solo mercenary for hire. As you could probably guess, I've been hired to kill the little princess."
"Ah, I figured as much. Sorry to rain on your parade. But I gotta pay you back for your intrusion."
"Pardon?"
Chao looked beyond confused. As he rightly should be.
"Do you understand how much a pain in the ass it is to plan for a date!"
Chao Blinks, "Eh...!?"
"Don't 'Eh!' at me! I lost sleep over it, and now I have to kick the ass of a rude Assassin on an empty stomach! I'm totally kicking your ass!"
Chao stared deadpan, "You know this isn't some game we're playing, Kid. You're fighting to live. How do you plan to fight with a wound like that?"
"Don't underestimate me! I don't plan to die just yet!"
Still, though, he was right on one thing. Shiro could barely see straight, and he was starting to get dizzy. If he had to guess, he would only last for maybe five minutes at best. He had to end this quickly. Shifting his feet to his fighting stance, both fighters stared at each other, waiting for the other to make the first move.
And then they both lunged at each other with both fists drawn back. Shiro and Chao had slugged each other in the face. Although Chao had longer arms than Shiro, he should've reached him first. Though Chao was the one who was sent flying toward the wall kicking up debris as he crashed into it. Shiro fell to the ground grunting in pain.
Before Shiro could take a breather, Chao had already disappeared from where he should've crashed.
"Hehehahaha! Not bad, kid! Flash Stepping at your age, you could become a real natural fighter in the future. Too bad, it's a far-off dream!" Laughed Chao.
He is already behind Shiro, hanging high off the wall and sticking to it like glue.
'How is he able to move that fast? Come to think of it. He disappeared a lot inside the tavern. What is it? Teleporting? Flash Stepping?' Asked Shiro in his thoughts.
Chao threw several knives at Shiro, hoping for one of them to land. Shiro has to roll out of the way quite literally. Shiro ran towards the metal trash can to hide behind; it was big enough to give him some cover.
'Damn it! Even though I made it outside, it's daytime, and we're stuck in a small alleyway — not a lot of room to use magic. I'm no better than I was inside the tavern. I'm not a fighter, though; if only I had a weapon. I can pummel this guy real good. Huh? What's that smell.'
He was behind a trash can after all, or so he thought. But the more he smelled of it. It reminded me oddly of Puck.
'Don't tell me this is...'
"You should focus on the battle at hand, kid," said Chao.
Chao grinned as he loomed over the trash can. Again He appeared so fast! He doesn't have speed movement; Shiro was confident that we would hear the wind shudder from the slightest bit of sound. There wasn't time to think. Chao had slashed downwards, and in that brief moment. Shiro using the back of his heels, kicks the trash can up in the air. Throwing Chao off-balance, he flipped backward and landed softly on his feet.
"Hah! Not bad, kid. You got good reaction speed. I'll give you that much. But that won't help you out much here, Huh?"
What Chao saw next baffled him to no end. Instead of showing fear like most of his targets would, Shiro instead charged forward with a determined look in his eyes. He also had with him a strange... Alcohol bottle in hand? Not only that, but the trash can was now holding forward at great speed.
'A double lair trap. Choosing one or the other could spell the end for me. I doubt the kid had enough time to set a trap using the trash bin, meaning it's being used as a distraction. The kid intends to take the fighting to close combat," Chao grins, "Very well, kid. I'll be more than happy to oblige.
Twirling his knives, lighting gathered around the blade, he threw his at high speed.
"Howl and surge the heavens sky! Thunderclap Fang!" Shouted Chao.
There was no way Shiro had the time to block or dodge a high-speed incoming attack. But he wasn't worried about that; instead, he smirked. He never stopped his running pace and threw the alcohol bottle toward the attack, surprising Chao.
"What?!" Asked Chao in shock.
As expected, the bottle, instead of deflecting the attack as he thought would intend, the knife pierced through, shattering the bottle to pieces. The drink splattered all over the ground, with some getting on his clothes. It matters not in the end; his attack was still soaring through the air heading straight for Shiro.
'He's not gonna dodge it? Don't tell me he's gonna take it head-on?' Asked Chao in his thoughts.
What happened next baffled Chao even further beyond his expectation. Seconds after, the bottle was shattered by his attack. Shiro leaned his body to the left. Instead of dodging, he rotated his body counterclockwise in rotation. Shiro grabbed the knife midair between his index and middle fingers in that split second. Chao thought he would throw it back at him; Shiro threw it toward the trash bin.
"That move, that's...!"
Shiro smirked, "Yeah! Counter Flow!"
Allow me to explain as simply as possible. Most energy flows up through the Spinal cord in the typical clockwise fashion. What Shiro did was simply did was redirect the flow of energy in the opposite direction. Allowing him to use his opponents' attack against them that's where the name counterflow comes from. Though it's not as simple as firing an energy blast from your hands, it takes an insane amount of concentration, focus, and lots of control of your energy to pull off this technique. And yet, Shiro pulled off in a split second as if it was second nature to him.
"Hmph! If you were off by a millisecond later. You'd be lying on the ground dead. You threw that bottle to stop my attack and slow it down for that opening moment. You got a lot of guts, kid!" Said Chao.
The knife pierces the trash bin, splitting it in half. Tons of bottles poured out of the bins.
"There are easily over a hundred, if not thousands, of different applications to mastering Aura. I lost countless hours of sleeping, studying all kinds of styles," Shiro put his thumb up, "Naturally, I only mastered six!" Shiro gloated.
Chao gave Shiro a deadpan stare, "No, that's nothing to be proud of..."
With his Karmabite, Chao slashed away any bottle that came near him. Glass and liquid shattered around them, leaving a big puddle between them.
'Hmm? What's that smell? This obnoxious odor. Don't tell me this-'
"Tell me, Assassin. Do you know what makes alcohol so flammable?" Asked Shiro.
"Don't tell me you planned this far ahead!?" Asked Chao in shock.
Shiro smirks, "C2H5OH, also known as Ethanol. Of course, it's a relatively harmless chemical mixed with alcohol. Part of studying magic is to study the laws of reality and push the limits of imagination beyond human comprehension. Thanks to my fire magic, I can manipulate the temperature around me till it reaches its boiling point. And with it all around us, in the air, on the ground, and in your clothes, I can ignite a chain reaction. A furry explosion could nuke a large building off the face of a map.
"You bastard!" Screamed Chao.
Shiro lifted his hand that was on fire and swung it down.
"Gather oh spirits of fire, come and blaze forth, Inferno Hell Blaze!"
*Kaboom!*
As Shiro promised, the explosion was large enough to cover the alleyway. The building was scorched with intense burn markings. The floors left a trail of flames surrounding him and the exit. He could imagine the people being in a state of panic. He could hear the dogs barking and howling madly, cars blaring their alarms from the backlash. And sirens going off from the firefighters. He really made a mess of things here.
Shiro spat out blood, "To think, I had to use that accursed man's move. Crap! I might have used too much magic. GYAAA!"
He could feel a hand pat his head before it grabbed a handful of his hair and yanked him upwards without looking up. Chao was alive and well. He kneeled down to level with Shiro as he smiled coldly.
"That was a nice trick, but too bad; it had little to no effect, kid," smiled Chao.
That was a bald-faced lie if Shiro ever heard one, He could visibly see scorched marks left on his clothes, and his hair was all but a mess. And Chao even puffed out smoke as a result of his attack. How he survived was beyond him, but he definitely took some kind of damage. But for his sake, Shiro ignored his comment.
Shiro grunted, "H-How?!"
"I'm sorry, you were under the impression that you still held the advantage of asking questions. Let's rectify that, shall we?"
Chao kicks Shiro kneeing him in the stomach. Shiro fell to the ground in great pain and coughed up blood due to the attack.
Chao laughs, "Hehe! It's too bad. Had you not interfered with my work, I might have let you live, kid, although killing you wouldn't net me any extra money. You've gone and pissed me off. So no hard feelings in the afterlife, okay."
"Go fuck yourself..."
Chao nods nonchalantly, "Yep, I'd figured you'd say that."
Chao held his Karmabite aiming it steadily above Shiro's base neck. And he thrust it forward to strike, only to be interrupted by a barrier of wind magic.
"Huh?!" Asked Chao in shock.
"What do you think you're doing, Chao? Playing around with someone that's not your initial target. How disgraceful can you be?" Asked a voice.
Chao scoffs, "Oh, butt out, you worthless lab dog! Who I kill is none of your concern nor the client. I'm just having a bit of fun and some time to kill on the side of work."
"That voice? This magic, don't tell me?" Said Shiro in shock.
Shiro's voice trembled, and his face grew pale when he looked up. For the first time in six years, he started crying upon seeing a familiar face from his past.
"L-Leon!?" Asked Shiro as he was tearing up.
Leon Yabuki was one of Shiro's best friends from his old world. Standing approximately 6'1 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds. He has short black hair down to his neck with white highlights. His attire of choice was a black dress shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes, and black gloves. Leon was always taller than Shiro. Leon gazed down at his former friend with a frown on his face.
"Shiro, how unacquainted to have met before this moment. It's a shame to meet again in this unforeseen circumstance," said Leon.
Chao laughs, "Ha! That's exactly what I've been saying! Wait, you know this kid, Leon?"
"Whether I know him or not isn't irrelevant to the situation. Now make yourself useful and stay silent!" Ordered Leon.
"Yesh, I can never have fun with you, Chao shrugs."
"Now, then."
Leon hopped off the building and floated down with the wind surrounding his fight. His eyes locked with Shiro, who stood up and hunched over. Shiro gasped for breath in pain because of his wounds from early as he struggled to form the right words to say to his long-lost friend.
"L-Leon, You're working with him, the enemy? Why? Why are you trying to kill Cassandra? I don't understand. What's going on!?" Asked Shiro, begging for an explanation.
Leon scowls, "Nor should you. I let you live on a whim. So for your sake, do not intervene anymore; I would hate to be the one to put an end to you. "
Shiro scoffs, "You should know this by now; I was never good at following orders!"
Flames burst beneath Shiro's feet, propelling him forward and covering his fist in a fire. Shiro reared back, ready to strike his former friend.
Leon Calmly raises his hand, "Quite so, and you were also never really good at studying magic either. Vortex!" Shouted Leon, calling out a spell.
The flames around Shiro's arms and legs disappeared. Shiro was pulled into Leon's grasp by his hand around his collar neck. Shiro became fearful and started panicking.
'What the hell?! A spell without an incantation!? How absurd!' Said Shiro in his thoughts.
Leon grasps Shiro by the neck and slams them on the ground hard enough for Shiro to cough up blood.
Leon gritted, "Fire magic like his... is beneath someone like you, scum. Fire magic is weak inferior to the wind."
Leon floats up in the sky as Shiro lies on the ground. Too tired to move.
"Chao, let's go. We're retreating for now. We've drawn too much-unwanted attention," ordered Leon.
"Eh, what about the kid!? He's still alive, you know," pointed out Chao.
"With a wound like that, he won't be fighting anytime soon," Leon held his hands in the air, gathering wind around to form a spiral ball. And it grew bigger and bigger, "Ventus Pila! Turbinis!" (Ball of wind, Hurricane!)
Shiro's vision blurred, his outstretched out.
"L-Leon!" Shiro Cried out.
Leon's wind still snuffed out Shiro's flames from his early attack. An explosion of wind torrents towards the sky. Shiro's arm he held in the air fell to the ground as he lay there lifeless. His eyes blacked out.
"Urgh! That was my kill, you bastard!" Shouted Chao.
Leon floats down, "Then next time, you shouldn't be fooling around with your target. And consider doing your actual job; you know, the one you were hired to do. I recall you saying something like, "Don't worry; I totally got this." Whatever happened with that?"
Chao shrugs, "Meh, what can I say? The kid was strong."
Out of his eyes, Leon glanced toward Shiro's lifeless body. A hint of regret flashed through his eyes.
"Yeah, being strong won't be good enough for our client. I'll see that you don't get pulled from the mission. Next time, do not fail; you're dismissed for today," ordered Leon.
Chao scoffs, "Whatever spoiled sports."
Chao sank to the ground and disappeared, leaving Shiro's body alone. This was a hefty loss for Shiro. Before leaving, though, Leon went into Shiro's jacket and took The Records Of Maxwell's book from his person.
"Looks like it wasn't damaged after the explosion or the fight. Either way, my client will be happy to have this in his possession," He teleports away.
