(A Saiyuki Fanfic)

Eighteen

Raido stepped in front of Vayu and
she just smiled. �Please if you turn around and leave now you won�t suffer the
same fate as you companions I beg of you, if you truly want to live.�

�What do you think you can do about
it girlie?� Another laughed.

�You are all nothing to us, it�s
Cho Gonu we want to suffer, like we have suffered.� A third added.

Cyran loaded the mantra gun up.
Tejas held up her staff and she pulled at the two ends of the staff and drew
two swords from the staff.

�You wanna take us demons?� Cyran
demanded. �Then you�ll die trying!�

�Yeah!� Tejas added her eyes
narrowing. �You�re not going to take Vayu from us.�

Vayu blinked and looked at them. �I
can defend myself you know.�

�GET THEM!!!� One shouted. The
group of demons attacked.

�Damn that Sherekhan we were
doing fine till she lead a new batch in.� Vayu grumbled. She looked at Raido
the priestess�s eye skimming over the new band of demons.

�Raido?� Tejas asked.

�Damnit�� Raido looked at her hand
then at the scripture inside the beads then at demons.

�Raido?� Vayu repeated. �I can
protect myself.�

�I know you can, but I don�t
have long left. Not till I reach the demon transformation limit. If what you
guys say is true.�

Cyran looked at her. �Then you
sit this one out��

�No�� Raido�s hand shot out.
�Mantra chains!� The chains shot through several demons dusting them instantly.
�Vayu��

Vayu�s mace hit several demons
and Tejas�s duel swords sliced through more.

*BANG BANG BANG BANG!*

Cyran�s hand shook as she re loaded the gun and looked at Raido as the
priestess pulled the beads off.

*BOOM*

The ground shook suddenly and they looked up.

~*~*~*~

Kaika looked at Sherekhan as she
raced up to the older woman and Kaika wrapped her arms around her.

�Gojyo�s going to be so mad with
me, I betrayed him.� Sherekhan sobbed.

Kaika ran a hand through the
younger girl�s hair. �It�s okay, it�ll be okay� Shere I promise.�

�How can it be okay? How? I didn�t
know that the survivors of the Hyakugan Maoh�s clan had come here�� She sobbed.
�I just thought it was those Gods and a few of Kougaiji-sama�s loyal men.�

�They weren�t suppose to be here,
the God Nauthiz must have struck a deal with them.� Kaika remarked.

�What have we done?� Sherekhan
cried.

~*~*~*~

�I�M OUTTA AMMO!� Cyran called.

Raido held the demons wrapped in chains and she looked at Tejas swiping once
twice and again with her swords against the demons getting closer.

�Sukuripuchaa Kaeru!!� Raido
called out. The scripture flew out and it shattered most of the demons and
Radio landed to one knee pulling the scripture back in with a flick of the
wrist the scripture snapping back in to the confines of the beads.

�Raido!� Tejas was by her side
looking at her.

�How�s your demon count girlie?�
Cyran looked over.

Raido looked at her. �Not good��
She clutched at her chest.

�Do not change! Not here!�

Raido shook her head.
�Scripture�s not letting me� but I can�t rely on it for much longer��

�Just give it up.� A demon
walked up and he grinned.

*SMACK!*

He held his face and looked at
Tejas. �Why you little bitch!�

�Don�t get any closer to Raido!�
Tejas pointed at the demon.

�We�ve come for the scripture,
it�s the only thing that hold your humanity in tact now. How about this then?�
He clicked his fingers.

Several demons surrounded Vayu
and she looked at them. �What?!�

�Vayu!� Cyran went to race
forward only to get hit across the back of the neck by another.

�Cyran!� Tejas caught her before
she hit the ground and lay her down.

The demon grabbed Raido by the
chin. �The scripture for your friend� You know where to find me� boys.� He
clicked his finger and they vanished, Vayu let out a cry.

Raido�s hands clutched at the
ground. �Damnit� shit shit shit!� She stood up.

�Raido?� Tejas looked at her.

�Tejas sweetie� here.�

Tejas caught what Raido tossed
to her and looked at the block of chocolate. �I�m going on an errand to get her
back, that�s the last of my chocolate so save it for when I get back.�

Tejas blinked. �No I wanna-� She
went to stand up.

Raido held her hand up cutting her off. �And Cyran� promise me you�ll
save that for when I get back?�

Tejas looked at the unconscious
Goddess with the gods that had been chasing Cyran lately she nodded. �I
promise. When you get back. Don�t be long kay?�

�It�ll be like I�m just going
for supplies I promise.�

�Wait! You�re weak you need to
eat before you go!� Tejas snapped off a piece of the chocolate block and handed
it to Raido. �Eat this now kay?�

Raido smiled and ate the
chocolate and put her hand on the taller but younger demon�s head. �Thank you��

Tejas watched as Raido turned
round and began to walk off towards the mansion before breaking out in to a
run.

~*~*~*~

The sound of bins rattling drew his
attention and he pushed himself up from unconsciousness and he rubbed the back
of his head. �Damnit what happened?�

�I�m sorry Gojyo, I truly do want to protect
you this is why I have to do this��

He rubbed the bump on the back of
his head. �That�s right she hit me while my back was turned. With the back of
her damn dagger�� He sighed as he stood up properly shaky on his feet. �But why
Shere? Why?� he asked himself as he walked out on to the street and he saw Goku
leaping about from corner to corner looking behind trash bin�s, door and rocks.

�What the hell are you looking for
monkey?�

�Tejas� Tejas left with the others
and they haven�t returned and when the demons attacked��

�Demon�s attacked?� Gojyo blinked.

�We sure could have used your help
Gojyo, but it�s okay.� Hakkai smiled.

�Shere she led me away from you
guys�� He sighed. �She�s working for Kougaiji� what does that guy have about
him that I have to keep loosing my damn siblings too?�

Hakkai placed a comforting hand on
his shoulder. �He�s willing to risk his life for them, that�s why.�

Gojyo slapped his hand away angrily.
�And I�m not?! I am I�m willing to risk my life for my sister I made her a
promise! A promise I would protect her! Isn�t that good enough?!�

Hakkai looked down. �I made that
same promise too Gojyo��

He stopped for a minute and stuffed
his hands in his pockets before turning away. �Look I�m sorry, I�m just pissed
that all.�

Hakkai just smiled again. �It�s
okay... but we really should find the girls.�

Goku jumped up and down. �This way
they�re this way I can smell chocolate!�

He raced off.

Sanzo growled. �Damn moronic monkey
stop making me run so much.�

The three guys followed Goku and
came across Cyran lying on the ground and Tejas sitting there holding up a
block of broken chocolate.

�Tejas!� Goku glomped on to her and
she smiled seeing him.

�Goku!� She hugged him back and
held up the chocolate.

�What�s wrong?� He looked at her.

�Raido gave me this before she went
after the demons. I�m not allowed to eat it until she gets back she made me
promise�� Tejas looked down.

�Demons what demons?� Sanzo looked at
her. �You better talk fast Pixie��

�They called themselves survivors
of the Hyakugan Maoh�s clan. Raido got mad when they took Vayu and she chased
them.� Tejas explained.

�Is Cyran alright?� Gojyo lent down
rolling her over.

Tejas nodded. �Yeah she�s just
unconscious which is why I had to stay here� her gun ran out of ammo� and she
got hit real hard.�

Sanzo looked at Hakkai. �It seems
you missed more than one of those guys.�

Hakkai stood up. �They took Vayu��

Tejas nodded her head rapidly.
�They sounded really mad with you and kept saying this funny name��

�Funny name�� Hakkai smiled. �What
would that be?�

�Gonu� it sounds weird� I don�t
like it.�

Gojyo looked at Hakkai. �You okay
man?�

�I�m fine� Tejas which way did
Raido go?� Hakkai asked.

Tejas motioned. �That way towards
the mansion we saw on the way in.�

Hakkai nodded. �Then that�s where
I�m going�

�Hakkai�� Goku looked at him.

�It�s okay Goku I�ll be fine.�

�I�m coming with you.� Gojyo added.

�Gojyo��

�That damn priestess is headed
there then so am I. I�m not letting her die that easy on me.�

Hakkai just smiled. �Thanks
friend.�

The two raced off. Goku looked at
Sanzo as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. �You�re just letting them
go?�

�Why not?� Sanzo replied.

�It�s Raido and Vayu, we have to
help.� Goku remarked.

�There�s plenty of ways we can help
here Goku.� Sanzo pulled out his gun and pointed it off to the side and fired a
round.

�AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!� A cry was heard.

*SHATTER*

�There are still demons here.�

Raido walked up to the door of the
mansion and she clenched her fist and looked at the several demon guards.

One of them whistled at her.

�Heya honey� what brings you here?�
He grinned.

�You are holding a friend of mine.�
She looked up showing them her red eyes.

�A half-breed wants to take on a
full blooded demon� what a joke.� One laughed.

Raido just smiled and she held up
her right wrist and showed them the beaded bracelet and she pulled it off
stuffing it in to her pocket and she cracked her neck.

�I�ve already killed a thousand
demons and not a spot of blood has even stained my robes� what makes you think
you�ll fair any better.� She grinned her eyes flashing.

�You must
promise me to never take this off Raido� it restricts the power the true power
of your demon father in it� it prevents you from becoming a monster, because if
you are a monster, you have truly left your humanity behind��

�For friends Grandfather, I don�t
care about my humanity� or my soul�� She held her hand up and it began to glow
and she charged at them. �I don�t need a soul to constrict me for this!�

~*~*~*~

Hakkai raced through the street,
desperation on his face, a town of demons and they�d been waiting for them to
arrive waiting, he looked at Gojyo as he ran with him.

�This way!� Gojyo motioned. �I can
sense they went this way.�

�Vayu they better not have hurt
her, I couldn�t bare it again��

Gojyo turned a corner and they
stopped Hakkai stared at the demon guard mutilated one just lying there his
body parts scattered about him the internal organs pulled from his body.

�What the-?� Gojyo�s eyes widened.

Another impaled to the wall by his
neck with a rod, several other bodies about the entrance.

�Priestess�� He breathed. �They�re
inside�� He looked at Hakkai�s face; he could feel it was all too familiar for
him.

Hakkai walked up to the door and he
pushed them open the same view greeted them on the inside.

�Gojyo did Raido�� He began.

�She did this, damn the priestess
has flipped.� They raced inside.

~*~*~*~

Raido looked at the
beads in her hand before shoving them in to her pocket again, power limiter off
her human strength couldn�t take them, she had no choice but to revert, she
then looked down the hall the demons looked at her wide eyed and she took one
step towards them.

�So ya finally came
round huh?� A demon snickered. He stopped then blinked seeing no blood and she
looked up at him her red eyes narrowed.

�I don�t strike deals
with demons sick and perverted as yourself��

He let out a cry as she
spun round a bar in hand knocking his head to the side with a loud crack blood
hitting the wall, before she threw it at a charging demon and he let out a cry
as the impact hit him in the head sending him sprawling in to a wall the bar
through his head pinning him there.

The last demon looked
up at her and he blinked at the look. �Wha� wha��

�Are you going to
co-operate or do I have to find a blunt object to bludgeon you with too?� She
smirked.

�That way your friend
is in the cells that way.� He motioned.

She walked past. �Thank
you��

*CRACK!*

The demon hit the wall
sliding down it and she pushed the doors open.

�I humbly intrude�� She
looked at the demon and he blinked.

�What how on�?�

�Raido!� Vayu grabbed
at the bars, she stopped. �Oh no� Raido� you didn�t��

The demon backed up as
Raido strode towards him. �You made me come all this way here to strike a deal�
here�s the deal, you open that cell and she goes.�

�O-or what?� he
stammered.

�No or you open the
cell you die, you don�t you die� either way� your dead.� Her hand shot up and
round his neck lifting him up of the ground and Vayu gasped as she heard a
crack of his neck.

�Raido behind you!�
Vayu shouted.

The priestess turned round suddenly
to see a flash of red hair and purple eyes and hands grabbed her by the arms.

�Kou-gaiji�� She looked
at him.

~*~*~*~

The two ran through the hallways
following the trail of carnage room through room hallway through hallway
looking for Vayu and Raido, the look Raido had given them as she headed off it
was a sad smile a smile he never wanted to see on her face again.

�VAYU!!� Hakkai shouted. �VAYU!!�

His voice echoed the hallway of the
dead. His heart pounding, what if they�d laid a hand on her or worse yet put
her through what Kanan went through.

�VAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYUUUUUUU!�
desperation, worry, concern filled him inside till he felt he could burst, what
if� what if she was�

�Hakkai!� He heard her voice call
to them.

�VAYU!� he shouted. �HOLD ON WE�RE
COMING!� It was a relief to his heart and soul to hear her voice, he didn�t
know if he could live if anything had happened to her.

He raced ahead leaving Gojyo by the
door he saw his friend bend down and pick something up off the ground. He
turned the corner and saw a door and he kicked it open before running inside, a
prison cell several cells and he looked at the far end.

�Vayu��

�In here.� She spoke she sounded
different� scared.

He raced up to the cell and he
grabbed the bars and looked at her she was sitting on the ground her long hair
hanging over her shoulder in an all to familiar braid and she looked up at him.

�You�re not hurt are you? They
didn�t do anything to you did they?�

She shuffled over to where he was
and he crouched down to where she sat and she took his hands in her and she
just held his hand close to her face he could feel the tears.

�I�m fine, Raido she� she stopped
them� but they took her, to� to Hotou castle.� She spoke.

Hakkai blinked. �They took her
why?�

�The scripture why else�� Vayu
replied. �This thing was a set up, Sherekhan and Kaika were working for
Kougaiji all along��

*THUMP*

They both jumped and Hakkai looked
at Gojyo standing in the door way his fist embedded in the door his eyes hidden
by the shadow and in his hand he gripped something.

�The demons they wouldn�t have know
she was a priestess.� He spoke. �You saw what she was wearing a normal every
day top and jeans.� He held up a single beaded bracelet with black and white
beads.

�Raido�s power limiter she took it
off.� Hakkai breathed. �That explains the amount of power she has to kill so
many.� He looked to Vayu. �What did she look like?�

�She looked like Raido� except her
eyes were so sad� and her body it was clean not a drop of blood, she�s fast.
Fast enough to kill without getting any blood on her.�

Hakkai let out a sigh of relief.
�Can you get out?�

She shook her head. �It�s some sort
of science and black magick��

Gojyo walked up to Vayu and he
knelt down and passed the beads through the bars. �Can you get a reading as to
what happened?�

Vayu took the beads and looked up
at him. �I can try.�

�That�s all you need to do Vayu
just try.� Hakkai took her hand and she smiled at him.

Part of him was relieved she was
fine, but another part was devastated, Raido had snapped and killed she could
already be a demon by now a demon working for Kougaiji under the spell of the
black mist.

They looked on as Vayu closed her eyes to get a clear
reading from the bracelet.

Raido was thrown to the floor it
was hard and concrete and she looked up as Kougaiji stood over her.

�You killed my brothers
priestess� And yet you remain the same, the same half-breed, why? What power do
you hold to prevent the transformation?�

She looked up to see a statue of
a female demon hanging out from a pillar talismans hung everywhere from the
vine and all most all over the pillar.

�I make sure not to get my
clothes dirty. It�s as simple as that.�

He grabbed her by the collar and
pulled her up. �If you�re so powerful then free my mother! Can you do that?!
Can you free her?!�

Raido looked up at the pillar.
�I can, but not without my scripture, it�s the scripture of change, it can turn
stone to flesh, night to day, and living to dead.� She stood up and looked at
the pillar. �So this is why you chase the Sanzo party a scripture to free your
mother.� She smiled. �I wish I had motivation like that.�

�Just do it, prove to me you can
do it.� He pointed at the statue.

Raido pushed him to the side and
she stepped up to the pillar. Yaone, Dokugakuji and Lirin all sanding by
watching as Raido sighed and pulled the scripture out of nothing and they
looked on as it snaked round each of the talismans making them shatter on
impact as she began chanting. �From day to night, night to day, dark to light,
break her binds away change from stone in to flesh wake her up, let her see�
SUKURIPUCHAA KAERU!�

The stone around the woman began
to crack as the true form of the demon figure in the stone pillar was revealed
down to her waist.

�I don�t believe it�� Doku
looked at Kougaiji.

�M-mother�� He looked up at the
woman.

She smiled at him and a wave of
relief washed over him and he just smiled back.

�Kougaiji�my son.� She managed
to suck in a breath of the air around her.

Footsteps coming down the hall
interrupted the moment. �Lord Kougaiji� Lady Koushou would like a word with
you.� A voice called from the hallway.

�It�s Dr. Nii.� Kougaiji looked
at Raido. �Hurry up and finish the sutra.�

�You�re not helping�� Raido
hissed.

�Don�t worry we�ll try to hold
him off.� Doku barricaded himself up against the door.

�You must do this�� Yaone looked
at Raido before going to help Doku.

�I�ll help too!� Lirin also put
her weight in to the door.

The three held the door as Raido
continued the chant.

�Oh my Lord Kougaiji� You aren�t
trying to resurrect you dear mother in there by yourself are you?� Dr. Nii
called through the door.

�Kougaiji, why are doing this
for me?� His mother asked.

�Everything I do is for you
mother, I get stronger for you, to help free you�� He looked up at her.

�Your priestess is strong, but
not strong enough, just continue to live for me Kougaiji, but for now you have
your friends to live for, keep them close, never loose sight of that� I�ll
always be waiting right here for you�� The stone began to creep back up over
her body.

�Mother NO...� He called as she
was sealed back in the prison.

Raido hit the ground. Kougaiji
grabbed her by the collar. �What happened?�

�Damnit my ki�s used up�� She
looked up at him. �That�s as far as I could get it because I wasted my energy
on trying to save Vayu with those demon bastards you used to guard her!� She
snapped.

The scripture vanished from
sight as Kougaiji held her close a clawed hand out to strike. �I only struck a
deal with those Gods� I didn�t strike a deal with them, I didn�t want more of
my brethren killed� but you did it anyway. You half-breed bastard.�

*SLAP*

Kougaiji let her go shocked and
held the side of his face. He glared at her. �You priestess bitch, I should
kill you.�

�But you won�t you spoke to her,
your first words in five hundred years. Look I will help you I know what it is
to miss a parent my father he died a long time ago by a demon hunter, and he
left me with my mother and an asshole of a step-father who treated me like
shit, trust me I know. Just let me gain my strength back, I just need to get
stronger, there�s just something else I have to do first��

�Kou.� Doku looked at him.

�Let him in.� Kougaiji remarked.

�But what will we say?� Yaone
asked.

�We won�t tell them anything, as
far as he�s concerned she�s just a spell casting half-breed.� He replied.

They stepped away from the door
and Dr. Nii looked round the room. He smiled at them his glasses glinting in
the light from the hallway as he stepped inside.

Raido held her hands behind her
back and slipped the beaded bracelet off and looked up at Kougaiji standing
behind her and placed them in his hands.

�Please let Gojyo find these,
they�re a gift from my grandfather�� She whispered.

Kougaiji looked at the bracelet.
�For the proof of your true power I�ll do that.�

Dr. Nii walked up to the two and
Kougaiji slipped the bracelet in his pocket. �Dr. Nii to what do we owe this
honour?� He asked.

�Lady Koushou would like a word
with you, but I think your new half-breed friend should be introduced�� Dr. Nii
looked at her and Kougaiji stepped in the way.

�I�m sorry she is not to see my
mother.�

�Yet you show her to your birth
mother� Lady Koushou will be offended.�

Raido looked up at Kougaiji.
�It�s okay Kougaiji�� She just smiled and stepped out from behind him. �You
don�t have to protect me.� She stepped up to Dr. Nii. �Try anything and you die
got that?�

He just smiled. �What a feisty
one.� He put his hand in her mid back and smiled at them. �Don�t worry I�ll
return her later. Unless she doesn�t behave.�

They watched as Raido left
the room and Kougaiji looked at Doku placing the beads in his hand. �Get those
to your brother.� He remarked.

Vayu looked up at them. �Kougaiji�s
step mother has her.� She handed the beads to Gojyo. �She wanted you to have
these she sent Doku to leave them behind to find you.�

Gojyo slipped the beads on and he
walked to the wall and grabbed Vayu�s mace. �Stand back you two.� He remarked.

�Gojyo�� Hakkai looked at him. �Are
you sure that will work?�

�Time to find out.� Gojyo swung the
mace and Hakkai blinked looking at the dent in the bars millimeters away from
his head.

�That was close.� Hakkai laughed.
�You should watch where you swing that thing you know.�

Gojyo looked at him. �Well this is
the first time I�m using something that I don�t normally use��

�Use your Jakujou idiot.� Vayu
looked at him from inside the cell.

Gojyo looked at the mace. �Godamnit
you�re annoying you know that?�

Vayu just rolled her eyes. �Mind
reader trust me I know what�s needed to break these bars.�

Hakkai smiled. �She does have good
instincts.�

�Yeah an instinct to cheat at
cards.� Gojyo complained.

�Will you just drop it before I
kill you?!� Vayu growled.

Hakkai laughed and stepped back and
Gojyo held out his hand his Jakujou staff appeared in his grip.

�This is the last time I�ll be
saving your ass you got that honey?�

�Oh just shove it and get me out.�
Vayu growled.

Hakkai just laughed and rubbed the
back of his neck. �Oh boy it�s nice to see you two getting along.�

*CHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRR CHINK
SMASH*

Hakkai just clapped. �Nice one
Gojyo.�

�Yeah but she owes me�.� Gojyo
huffed.

Vayu stepped out of the cell and
she felt Hakkai pull her in to an embrace. �I was really worried about you
Vayu.�

Vayu just blushed across the cheeks
as she pulled back away lowering her head. �We should try to find a way to get
Raido back.�

�If she�s at Hotou castle then the
next time we see her is when we get there.� Gojyo stuffed his hands in his pocket
as he walked out.

�Gojyo�� Hakkai looked on his
expression worried.

�He�ll be okay Hakkai�� Vayu took
his hand. �Lets just get back to the others.�

Hakkai just nodded and he looked at
her holding her back at arms length. �How are you holding up after all this?�

He was thrown back in shock as she
lunged at him and he caught her as she clung to him and he could feel the fresh
tears as they dropped on to his shoulder.

Hakkai held her close his head
resting on her shoulder. �I was so scared, the others they were going to come
back and they were going to hurt me to hurt you, I�m so sorry, I�m sorry I�ve
become a weakness for you.�

�You�re not a weakness, so long as
your alive you�re anything but a weakness.� Hakkai looked down at her with a
gentle smile. She was alive and as long as he lived he�d make sure she did too.

~*~*~*~

Goku looked at Cyran as she stood
there the gun in her hands and she looked at the old God lying on the ground
underneath her.

�Grand father, I�m never returning,
I�ve found where I belong sorry��

�Damn you� you belong with us��

�No she doesn�t!� Hagalaz shot out.
�If this is where she�s happy then I�m happy for her. Leave her alone now.�

�No! I won�t�� He growled.

�Then sorry grandfather� you can
join my parents��

*BANG*

Cyran watched as his body shattered
to particles, she turned round and glanced over her shoulder at Mannaz and
Hagalaz left standing and she looked down.

�Do you still want me back among
the Gods?� She asked.

�You have your own path to follow,
just know at the end of it we�ll be waiting.� Mannaz just smiled at her before
he placed a hand on Hagalaz�s shoulder. �Won�t we?�

Cyran smiled at her brother and his
best friend.

�Yea we�ll be waiting.� Hagalaz
sighed.

Cyran jumped on to Hagalaz�s
shoulders. �Then can you keep their family from dying again right?�

He looked at her a blush on his
cheeks. �I can only disrupt, to keep them alive their bodies would have to be
turned to new flesh��

Gojyo tapped him on the shoulder.
�Then we need the priestess back. Can you disrupt those demons in their plans
to get her back?�

Hagalaz looked at Gojyo. �That I
can do.� He smiled. �You like the priestess huh?�

Gojyo blinked. �No it�s not like
that� it�s just we need her��

Goku grinned. �Gojyo you
liiiiiiiiiiiiiike her don�t you?�

*WHACK*

�SHUTUP YOU STUPID MONKEY!�

�Hey you ass what�d you do that
for?!� Goku growled.

�SHUT UP THE BOTH OF YOU!� Sanzo
snapped.

Tejas looked at them. �But I want
Raido back now!� She stomped her foot.
