Chapter 19

Nimh ran as fast as he could manage, the Pokémon struggling to keep up. People quickly moved out of the way, stopping to stare after the pair (especially at the strange Pokémon). He had to hurry; what if Wally was already dead??

No! He couldn’t think like that. He couldn’t think Wally would just give up; the boy still had so much ahead of him. Nimh slammed open Kedri’s front door, dragging the poor Mew-kin along behind him. “Kedri??”

“Thank God you’re back!” The Leader walked out from the spare bedroom, looking exhausted. “He’s worse Nimh, much worse...” He looked up. “Oh wow.... That’s what you’ve been chasing after??”

“No time Kedri.” Nimh replied curtly, once more dragging the poor creature along. If it hadn’t seemed as urgent as Nimh did, Kedri would have thought that rather abusive.

----

Hearing Wally’s whimpers of pain nearly broke his heart. The moment they’d entered the spare bedroom, Nimh rushed to his friend’s side. “It’s ok Wally, you’re going to be alright...” The boy only coughed in response, crying out when the action jarred his broken ribs.

The white Pokémon stepped closer to the bed and held a hand out just a couple inches above the boy’s stomach. Its hand moved upward, closer to Wally’s face, then rested on one of the boy’s cheeks.

‘Don’t be afraid... I can help you.’

Wally seemed to calm, his soft eyes opening to look up at the one who could heal him. The Pokémon only smiled and pressed a small hand to the boy’s sternum, a faint whitish-blue glow emitting from its palm.

Nimh watched amazed as the light spread over Wally’s chest, seeming to sink under his clothes, through the bandages and into his skin. Wally had closed his eyes again, enjoying the warm feeling spreading through him. Far too long had he felt cold inside.

His ribs pulled back together, the dull burning ache in his lungs gone. He didn’t feel so fatigued either.

The Mew-kin stepped back, seeming a little sick suddenly. Kedri- who Nimh only now noticed had joined them in the room- quickly showed the Pokémon to the bathroom.

“So... How are you feeling?” the trainer finally asked. Wally smiled.

“I feel.... brand new, I guess. Like I slept for a month. I can breathe again, and I don’t feel so tired.” He carefully sat up, happy that nothing complained at the motion, and set about pulling the bandages off his torso. Nimh blushed a light crimson and turned his back.

----

Kedri pulled one of the little Dixie cups from its dispenser and filled it with water, handing to the Pokémon to rinse its mouth out and tried not to look at the strange black, gooey substance it had spit up. Well, he thought, I suppose it has to go somewhere... He pulled up the tap, rinsing it away.

‘Thank you.’ The Pokémon said, setting the now-empty cup down.

“It was no problem.” Kedri assured the small creature, gently rubbing its back. “I suppose you’ll want to be heading back to your own home now?” It nodded; he smiled. “Come on, I’ll take you to the door.”

----

Nimh turned back around once he was sure Wally had his shirt on again. Sure, they were both guys, so it shouldn’t have mattered that much, but seeing the boy’s slender form gave him thoughts that sent shivers of pleasure up his spine. No, that would lead to no good.

“Now that you’re feeling better, what would you like to do?”

Wally smiled. “Well, I have been looking forward to getting those other badges...”
