The nurse injected 2 lots of medicine into his arm, Mello watched as Rod locked the door after Matt left.
Mello was moved into a sitting position, Rod came and moved behind him, His right arm was held tightly Rods other arm supporting his waist.
Mello felt light headed and rested his head against Rod’s shoulder.
The nurse started removing the bandages on his left arm and upper chest and shoulder.
Rod’s grip tightened slightly as the nurse grabbed the water and started washing the burns on Mellos arm, Mello whimpered and tensed as the nurse moved to his chest and shoulder, Mello started to thrash a little to get away from the pain.
Even as the nurse stopped washing the burns the pain remained the same.
She proceeded to remove the bandages from his neck and face.
Mello started crying as the bandages caught and pulled a little on the still healing skin.
Mello couldn’t hold the next scream in as his face and the worst part of burns on his neck were cleaned. Rod held Mello tightly against his chest to limit the movement . The nurse dabbed him dry with the sterile towels, The doctor examined the burns quickly before helping the nurse apply fresh gauzes cold and slippery with the cooling gel coating them before wrapping the bandages over them holding the gauze in place.
Mello was still crying quietly but now still in Rods arms.
As they finished re-dressing him, Rod loosened his grip and moved laying Mello down gently stroking his hair and cheek “It’s looking better then before.” Rod said wiping Mello’s tears and cheek drying them as Mello slowly closed his eye passing out once more.

( With Matt )

Matt clicked on his e-mails deleting all the spam and checking the other replying to a few. He came to the most recent ‘Subject:- Is Near ..... Read Sent Yesterday.’ Matt thought as he clicked on it.
*Matt, I Hear Mello is recovering nicely, Next wee i will be making my move on Kira. Gevanni is making the last preparations needed.
Please Do Not try to contact me again, I need to concentrate on the case.. It doesn’t help things you trying to get in touch all the time.
I’m sure Mello will not like it if he knew.
I have accepted you love Mello and that you are now back with him. I hope i made a good replacement while you were here.

Near*

Matt frowned as he read it ‘You were more than a replacement Near I Love You.’
Matt turned as he heard Mello scream, He shut the computer down and waited by the door.
After 10 minutes of silence the door opened, “He’s asleep again” Rod said walking past Matt. Matt grabbed Rods arm “Tell me, Is he actually healing.” He asked quietly looking to the floor.
“Yes... The skin on his arm chest and face are starting to heal nicely. his neck still looks bad though doctor re-assures me he’s healing though.” Rod said as he ruffled Matts hair “He’s getting there Red, Keep strong.” He added before walking away.
When Matt walked into the room he noticed the doctor was on the phone, The nurse was straightening Mello’s bed covers.
She smiled at Matt before leaving the room
As Matt sat down ‘She’s probably making me dinner again’ He sighed and grasped Mello’s hand giving it a squeeze. whispering “I’m here Mello”
The doctor stood walking to the bed, waiting as Matt looked up to him “Mello’s skin is starting to heal, A lot faster then i expected when i first saw him, His Neck and little on shoulder will take a little longer to heal. I have to pop to the hospital or more supplies, The nurse will be remaining here to tend to Mello.”
Matt stared up panicked “What if something goes wrong... What if...”
“I’ll be on call... I can get here 10 minutes, He is and will be fine.” The doctor re-assured.
Matt nodded and squeezed Mello’s hand again, The doctor turned and left.

When Mello woke up he looked around groggily, He spotted Matt staring into space. ‘That’s un-like him.’ Mello thought squeezing on Matts hand lightly to get attention.
Matt turned at the added pressure to his hand. “You’re awake, Do you need anything? Does it hurt?”
Mello smiled and mumbled “Theres Matt i know.”
“What?” Matt asked puzzled.
Shaking his head Mello relaxed. “Yes i’m awake, I don’t need anything as of yet and it always hurts but it’s bearable” Matt visible relaxed ... “And what about you Matt, Are you ok?” Mello added.
Matts smile didn’t reach his eyes “I’m fine as long as you’re fine “
Mello frowned at the lie. “Fine, Why don’t you tell me what you’ve been up to when i left.”
Matt shrugged “I locked myself away, When Near was put in S.P.K he offered to take me as he suspected you were in America, Then i came here. the end.”
Sighing Mello sat up. “That was a brief way of telling me.”
“That’s how it happened though.” Matt said not convincing himself let alone convincing Mello.
“Try saying that again, Not even you believe it.... I thought you’d always be honest with me, I guess not.” Mello said quietly
“And i always thought you wouldn’t leave me but you did.” Matt mumbled more to himself then Mello.
A flash of hurt went through Mello’s face before he masked it easily. “I left because i had to, And because i needed to protect you,,, I always Lo...Cared for you, I still do. You’re the one that moved on not me.”
“How exactly did i move on. I love you Mello I searched for you all the time.” Matt growled out in a slightly raised voice.
“You’re fucking cue-tip, I’d say that’s moving on. If you loved me you wouldn’t be with him.” He finished pain lacing his voice.
Matt frowned and slumped in his seat whispering “’t listen if i told you. All because Near is involved.”
“Yes i would. I would so i knew where i stand with you.” Mello paused when he saw Matt holding back the tears. In a quieter voice he continued “Tell me everything Matt... Please” He finished holding his Rosary close.
Biting his lip in thought for a few moments, Matt looked to the floor nodding... “On one condition though.”
“Name it...” Mello said calmly stroking his rosary, out of habit.
“You don’t speak or grumble anything until i’ve finished. Then you can reply anyway you want” Matt stated.
“Ok.... I won’t interrupt..” Mello said quietly.

Matt took a deep breath to calm down.... Before replying in a quiet voice.
“You know you were the only one i allowed close to me for the longest time.. I needed you, You knew what to do, What to say to me to make me feel ok... The night you left i felt betrayed, and alone again...” Biting his lip before continuing. “I cried myself to sleep, I barely moved for days... Roger, Ann and Madeline they all tried to get me to come out, To go downstairs and eat.” Giving a short laugh “They even said i could order take out, if i came out... I don’t remember how long it was, But there was another knock at the door...” Matt sighed “I presumed it was the adults again, But they didn’t speak so i went to the door to check. There was no one there but a tray of sandwiches and juice with a hand written note. ‘Didn’t know what you liked so i did one of each.’”
Mello whispered without realizing it. “Near..”
“Yes, although i dind’t realize that at first, It continued the next couple of days then i found your letter.” Matt paused wiping his eyes “After i read it and calmed down i went to Near room to give him his letter. He read it silently.... still don’t know what you wrote to him.... He told me Roger was sending him to America to head the S.P.K ... He must of seen the hurt i was feeling because he offered to take me, Not to work but so i was close enough for when we found you...” Matt pulled a face pausing to think how to word things “I was so happy and with Near as lonely as me i ...” Matt stopped not knowing how to word it ‘fucked him, slept with him, made love...’
“You slept with him” Mello chipped in.
Nodding his head “At first it was just sex a way for release and comfort... But i slowly fell in love with Near... For first time in my life i was needed.” Matt sighed and looked to the ceiling.. “When you or one of you’re men used the Notebook to kill Near’s team, He broke down He watched them all die around him... he was covered in blood and hiding in a corner when i arrived back, It was first time i ever saw him as a lost child... Not a genius he is.... He asked me to hurt him, Same way you used to hurt me... The next day you were there and all the pain of you leaving came back. It hurt and knowing Near Lied after everything that had happened.... He explained why later on, He forgave me for hitting him...” Matt paused looking to Mello “He knew Mello, He know one day i’d leave him to come back to you, But he still let me close to him.” Matt had to wipe his eyes again.
“When we watched you blow that building up i thought i’d lost you for good. Near drugged me to keep me calm, By the time i came through he’d already made arrangements for Me to come here to remain with you.... I do love you Mello more then anything... But i fell for Near, You’re both so different .... I love you both and he knew i couldn’t choose between you so Near did... He made the choice for me.” Matt didn’t bother hiding the tears any more.
“Do you wish he chose for you to remain with him.” Mello asked quietly, almost dreading the answer.
Matt shook his head “ I wish you both weren’t so stubborn, I wish you could get along with Near. And i know it’s selfish but i want both of you... You thrill me, you give me what i want. what i need... Pain, Pleasure, Dominance.. When i’m with you i feel safe and i know i don’t need to ask you for anything because you’ll always know what i need.. Your the Danger i crave.... But Near .. He’s the opposite He’s small and innocent, Ok yeah he’ll let me do anything to him including hurt him, but its the softness and gentle side i like. I like the little hugs he gives or the little touches just for the sake of touching. I want both and i cant have both...” Matt closed his eyes in attempt at stopping the tears.
“What if we could find a way you could have both” Mello said honestly wanting to find a way for Matt to be happy, Even if he had to share.
Matt laughed a little at that. “Yeah right, You hate Near... You hate been in the same room as him.... And it doesn’t matter even if you could stand him... He doesn’t want to know me , He said it’s making it hard for him to concentrate every time i try to contact him. That he was only a replacement till you came back and now that you are i should concentrate on you.” Matt said as the tears started falling again...
‘Nears fallen for Matt, But won’t admit it because of me.’ Mello thought to himself.
“I’m sorry Mello, I love you i do please don’t leave me again... I’ll promise not to contact Near again..” Matt said as the panic started to kick in.
“It’s ok Matt, I’m not going anywhere... we’ll sort through this.. I promise you’re mine Matt..Always Mine.” Mello said laying his hand on Matts head... Matt nuzzled Mello’s hand and laid his head down on Mello’s bed... He slowly fell into sleep as Mello stroked his hair lost in thought... ‘Can i put up with Near to make Matt happy...’ Mello glanced down to Matt, before sighing and picking up the pen and paper from the bedside table.
He began writing and when he finished it he folded it in half.
Mello looked up at the knock on the door “Yes” He called quietly so not to disturb Matt.
Halle popped her head through the door “Delivered yours and Matts bits.. I wanted to check if you needed anything as i wont be able to call again as Near needs me to do something for him.”
Mello looked to the letter in his hands “Yes there is one thing you can do..” Mello replied as he grabbed an envelope and shoved the letter inside sealing it before writing ‘Near’ Neatly on the front... “Please give this to C...Near for me please.” Mello asked as he held the letter out.
Halle waled into the room and took the envelope examining it closely..
“It’s a letter not a bomb.” Mello said
Halle looked up to Mello... “I’ll give it to him but i cant promise he’ll read it.”
“Please Halle... Tell him it’s important , He doesn’t have to reply as long as he read’s it.” Mello asked staring Halle straight in the eye.
Halle saw something in Mello’s gaze and smile giving a nod “I’ll tell him... Oh Nears making his move in just over a week. He has all the evidence he needs.”
Mello looked stunned for a moment “Why are you telling me, i thought you wouldn’t after everything that’s happened.”
“I don’t hate you Mello, and because your goal is the same. And i don’t want you getting in Near way or i will put you down.” Halle said seriously walking to the door stopping “Glad you’re healing” She whispered before walking out closing the door behind her.


Mello looked down to the still sleeping Matt ‘I’ll do my best to give you what you want Matt’ he thought.
The nurse came in with a drink and sandwich leaving them on the side seeing as Matt and Mello was sleeping.
