Disclaimer:
I do not own Witch Hunter Robin, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Tears of Pearls
As stated earlier, I do not own Witch Hunter Robin. A fact which makes me sad, as I enjoy the series a lot, and I wish I had the same genius. I think I shall stay up late tonight drawing fanart to go with my fic. >.>
*This chapter has been edited, as the site where I previously checked the character names had Sakaki and Karasuma switched. Anywho, they both have brown hair, at least! ^_^*

Chapter Two: Tears of Pearls
\"It\'s been exactly a minute and a half since the last time you looked, Amon,\" Karasuma said as the dark-haired witch hunter beside her lifted his wrist to check the time.
\"Ther firl should have been here by now.\"
A brown eyebrow arched in response. \"Why, Amon, it sounds to me like you\'re worried about her.\"
Gloved fingers ran through his shoulder-length raven hair, an uncharacteristic move on his part, as he rarely felt nervous, let alone admitted or revealed it to anyone else.
\"She\'d have had to take the mountain road to get here. She hates that road.\"
Karasuma blinked in surprise. \"Why\'s that?\"
\"It makes her nervous. She\'s scared of heights.\"
\"Robin? Scared of anything?\"
\"She\'s not the only one who avoids that road, Karasuma.\"
Well that was news to her. \"Amon, are you telling me that road makes you nervous too?\"
\"Kara--\" Whatever comment he had been about to make was cut short by the ring of his cell phone. \"Amon here. ... Michael? What? ... Slow down!... Breathe. What was that?
\"An assassination attempt? On who?\"
There was a long pause, and then Amon closed the cell and slipped it into his pocket.
\"Amon?\" Karasuma rested her hand on the man\'s arm, only to flinch and pull away as he stormed off into the rain. She had to hurry to catch up with him.
\"Amon?\" She asked again, sliding into the passenger seat of his car a moment before he pulled out into the stree. A startled yelp accompanied the slam of the door as Amon took a corner a bit too fast. \"Amon, what--\"
\"The assassination attempt was on Robin.\"
~*~
By the time they reached the mountain road, Amon had broken nearly every speed limit between the stakeout and top oop of the intersection where the mountain road began, ran three other cars off the street, and nearly took the door off the truck when the poor owner tried to get out of his car. Karasuma was sure there would be permanent dents in the door handle from where she was holding on for dear life.
Amon didn\'t slow the breakneck pace until they caught sight of the red glow of emergency flares.
\"Shit!\" He slammed the gear into park, bailing out before the car came to a complete stop behind the lone red car that was parked half on the road, half on the embankment. Black hair and trenchcoat flowed as he flew around the car. \"Robin?!\"
\"She\'s here!\" A woman with brihgt copper hair leaned beside the limp form that was the STN-J Craft user. She had a large umbrella propped up on the guardrail, held in place by two stones wedged around the handle, shielding Robin\'s upper body from the rain. The gravel beneath the girl was red from watery blood.
\"Who are you?\" He demanded in suspicion, hesistating.
\"A friend.\" The woman was holding onto Robin\'s shoulder, one hand on her back, the other reaching around to the girl\'s front. \"It\'s a clean shot, but she\'s lost a lot of blood.\"
\"Did you call the ambulance?\"
\"She wouldn\'t let me.\" She quickly reached into her coat pocket, drawing out Robin\'s cell phone and handing it to Amon. \"I called the number on here and told him instead. He said he\'s send someone that could be trusted.\"
\"Thank you.\" Amon sidled closer, sharp eyes noting that Robin\'s boots were scuffed from her tumble across the pavement and then the gravel roadside. One boot was only half laced, a sure sign that she had literally thrown on her clothes and run out the door. She wasn\'t even wearing her glasses.
\"Her glasses!\" He glanced around, looking for them.
\"They might be in her pocket. She asked for them, but I didn\'t dare move her.\"
That stopped him in his tracks. \"What?\"
\"It\'s her back. She was awfully twisted when I got here. I\'ve tried not to move her, but I had to to stop the bleeding.\"
A small cough caught his attention, and he scrambled over the rail so he could kneel on the other side. He peered under the rail at her. \"Robin?\"
\"My back... I can\'t move.\"
He blinked, carefully taking her hand and giving it a squeeze. \"Michael\'s sending help. They\'ll be here in a minute.\"
It was only after the girl relaxed, having blacked out, that Amon noticed the red-haired woman crying. Pearly violet tears ran down the woman\'s face.
\"Hang on, Robi.\"
\"Robi?\"
Violet eyes met black. \"Robin\'s my younger sister.\"
Amon\'s gaze sharpened, noting the similarities between the two women. Eventually his eyes followed the path of those mysterious tears, widening the instant he saw it: where her tears landed on the ground, they burned, tiny violet flames that pulsed around a center core. A core that suspiciously resembled a black pearl.
