Dreaming of You
Behind Blue Eyes
Chapter One
That night, Nakago was restless. He tossed and turned in his camping tent. Something was not right. He could feel the ominous wind begin to blow. It was coming from the south- Suzaku’s territory. He wondered if it had to do with the miko’s growing powers. He could sense it every time they met. She grew stronger with everything she did- much like Yui. ‘Yui... So strong.’ He knew she was smitten by him. It was all part of the plan. Not his plan, granted. Yui was such a delicate creature, and he did not want to hurt her so. But, all is fair in war, or so says the emperor. Nakago prayed to Seriyuu that this could all end peacefully, but to no avail. Everything must die at one point. There are no excens. ns. The miko will die, but Nakago knew it would not be in Konan, nor by his hand. He just had a feeling. She was strong, but so is Yui. The two powers will eventually collide, with the gods behind them. They will be reunited in the end, and all will be well. How does the saying go? Ah, yes, “the good guys always win”. Nakago sighed once more. He certainly wasn’t “a good guy”. Tamahome would prevail in the end. It was all part of the legend. He knew the legend, oh, so well.
Nakago sat up straight in his futon. “That’s it!” He knew it was all foretold, but what the gods did not expect was about to unfold. Nakago was note eve evil, but he did have an evil side, as all men do. He knew the gods did not expect an alliance. He smirked. An alliance between Seriyuu and Suzaku. Fire and ice- love and hate. Two opposites coming together to make an unstoppable force. ‘Opposites attract.’ Nakago laid back and was finally able to sleep. Though, it was not a dreamless sleep... Dre Dream #
Nakago saw her. The Suzaku no Miko. She obviously could not see him, but he wanted to make sure. He stood directly behind her and he placed a hand on her shoulder.
Not even a twitch.
Her hands were in the air, and her eyes were closed. Her lips moved slightly, and her chest heaved with labored breath. ‘She’s praying...’ He realized. Her brows furrowed, and she collapsed. He watched her garments become wrinkled, and her body become limp on the floor. He looked up desperately. There had to be someone in the room- anyone. He looked to the fire, and saw Suzaku himself.
Suzaku gazed at Nakago. It was piercing, and Nakago felt strength emitting from the phoenix god of love. The fire then split in half, Suzaku moving to the right. The left half became a midnight blue fire, and Seriyuu now gazed at him. “My god...” He got down on one knee and bowed to the dragon god.
“Rise.” He said it gently, much to Nakago’s surprise. Nakago stood at full attention and watched the blue god glance from him to the miko on the floor. “Do you know why you are here?” His gaze moved back to Nakago as he shook his head.
“Why am I here?”
Suzaku turned his back on Nakago and his miko, and pointed to the spot directly opposite of where Nakago stood. “Go.”
Nakago walked over cautiously, testing if this was what he meant. Suzaku nodded in approval and Nakago saw Yui, much in the same state as Suzaku no Miko. “There is a disturbance in Konan.” Suzaku said gently, gazing at Seriyuu no Miko. Nakago went to Yui’s side, wanting to help her, but knowing he could not. Nakago glared slightly at the god.
“What does this mean?” He demanded loudly. “Are they alright?” He threw his arms up into the air, confused.
“You are the disturbance.”
Nakago stood completely still. ‘Me?’ His eyes were wide, and his right hand began to shake. ‘Me?’
The dream faded away and he awoke sweating in his own bed.
“What could they mean?”
