Disclaimer: I do not own Gensomaden Saiyuki, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer : I don’t own Saiyuki in anyway, damn. Don’t own the song either, ‘Gone With The Wind’ off Blackmore’s Nights.
Warnings/Comments : I have to say, this is one of the first Saiyuki stories I’ve ever really done. For the time being, this isn’t anything too serious, I’m just bored and want to see how far along it goes. More or less AU/TWT, violence, yaoi most definitely. Bet it blows chunks… XP
Glad to see it’s rather liked so far, so I’ll keep on for the time.
*whines some* Ivan’s looking serious here…Damn these hurricanes, I hate Florida! >_<
The Golden Bird
Chapter 2
By Reppa
Twisting turning
The winds are burning
Leaving me without a name
How will we ever find our way...
Snow was falling
I could hear the frightecallcalling
Fear taking over every man
Life meaning nothing more than sand...
Wind will sweep away
The traces I was here
A story in a teardrop
That's all I have to give...
Rage inferno swallowing the life that I know
Strength is the only way to fight
You must look up to see the light...
Gone With The Wind...Gone With The Wind...Gone
With The Wind...
Take all I know
Turn it into darkened shadows
They'll disappear in the sun
When a new story has begun
She survived the nightmare
Began a whole new life here
But I can see behind those eyes
She still sees those fires in the night...
Twisting and turning
Oh, the winds are burning
Leaving me without a name
How will we ever find our way…
It was times like this that Sanzo felt he was getting lazy, not having taken notice of the youkai waiting in the tree branches on shore. He hadn’t sensed anything in the least, strangely enough, “That’s strange…I didn’t see them coming.”
“I didn’t feel shit either.”
Now that was wrong. If even Gojyo missed it, something was amiss. Youkai didn’t really hide their aura that much unless on the stealth, though even then they were slightly detectable. And if they were equipped with power limiters, and these definitely lacked said limiters, it also dimmed their trace.
Tg ing into mind that they had been noticed, the four youkai slowly removed themselves from the branches, crawling among the grounded stone clumsily on all four. They weren’t the most graceful they’d encountered. Though it was dark, it wasn’t hard to see they weren’t like normal youkai at all. Something was completely off about them. No simple birthmarks were visible and their ears weren’t long and smooth like most, their claws looked gnarled and mutant. Their genders were indiscernible and lastly their eyes were wide and stark, nearly bulging from their sockets to a point tears were automatically leaking down their tortured faces along with a little blood.
Sanzo remained in the water, he was in no way capable of fighting bare fisted and buck naked as he was. That and he really didn’t want to, especiallythe the pervert was watching. His robes were stashed away secretly near the trail the kappa followed down, unfortunately his banishing gun lay there with them and he doubted he could avoid the fiends long enough to get to his gun. His sutra, he had asked Hakkai earlier to keep it close while he was busy washing up. It was an unsettling thing to do, but it was better than leaving it unguarded with his robes.
While the monk stayed back, it didn’t seem like Gojyo was too tethered down by the idea of fighting in the nude, now atop the stone they had occupied with an unpleasant smirk. Sanzo refrained from looking up. The Jakujou was in hand as the kappa swung it around in his usual fashion, looking fit and ready for a brawl, “C‘mon! You ugly sons of bitches are gonna pay for crashing our fun!”
“Our fun?”
The invitation had been taken as two of them lunged into the air at him, claws extended and aiming to tear into the half breed. But they couldn’t make their mark, not even close, as the crescent shaped sickle lashed out, slicing them both into many retched, gory chunks with ease. The blood slowly tainted the water while the third youkai seemed to make itself scarce and the last seemed more reluctant to attack. Either it figured this was hopeless or it tried to formulate a more calculated attack.
With a low, guttural noise, the fourth youkai rounded around Gojyo slowly. It was trying to keep his attention solely on itself, while the other did it‘s errand. The red head grimaced a little, tired of the beast drawing it out. But he wasn’t going to jump after it like he assumed it wanted, he wasn‘t a complediotdiot like his hot tempered companion claimed. He had lost track of the third and he wasn’t about to leave Sanzo alone until he narrowed it down and killed it.
A loud splashing behind him caused him to jerk his attention around, catching sight just in time to see Sanzo get pulled under without much less than a sputter and a good deal of flailing. Sneaky bastard, how stupid was he for forgetting the fact going underwater was an option? They were surrounded by the shit for crying out loud! And when Gojyo had looked back to the monk’s problem, the land bound youkai stalking around made it’s move and bowled him over into the water though suffering well for such an attack as the rounded blade of the Jakujou buried itself in the beast’s gut and burst through it‘s back.
Sanzo on the other hand was not fairing as well as Gojyo. He had been too preoccupied watching the youkai in sight to realized the stray had come up under him and pulled him down with a viscous yank. It barely granted him time for a mouth full of oxygen as he struggled to hold back an overgrown maw that hungered to tear out his throat. It was a damn near impossible fight, feeling a clawed foot dig into his stomach painfully and something spiny slamming him in the left shoulder with stunning force. The monster attacking him drew back, as if it’s work was done, but he couldn’t tell as the water darkened even more with shed blood, either his or the dead creature Gojyo just did away with. He lost his last mouthful of air and swiped his good arm about blindly as he tried to surface again with no success.
A pair of strong hands gripped him under his arms to draw him back up when it seemed his feeble attempts on his own failed. Pain shot through his wounded arm like fire, it felt like the damage done burned intensely and he faintly wondered to himself whether the spines now buried in the flesh were poisonous…Be damned how much he hated help, but he could hardly fight it at this point.
The monk gasped for air once his head broke the surface, gold hair clinging stubbornly to his face, barely registering the loud curse Gojyo uttered as they both fell back. The last living youkai didn’t seem to be quite finished with them yet, jumping down at them. It just wouldn’t end.
The wind was knocked out of Sanzo as the red head shoved him roughly to one side to avoid any more contact with viscous nails and claws. The youkai crashed into the bar of the Jakujou. Gojyo gave a loud shout before rounding and slamming the demon into the pillar near them. It wasn’t a killing blow, but the sickle ramming upwards into it’s chin with a twist of the staff certainly did the trick. The half breed nearly jumped when he felt weight press against his shoulder, but he didn’t lash out, well aware it was Sanzo.
“Look, kappa, you better get me to my robes and you better do it now or I’ll kill you…”
“Always the pleasant one…and you’re welcome.”

One moment, he had been dreaming of a smorgasbord of meat buns…beef and pork…So good…And then the next thing Goku knew, they had five seriously deformed monsters jumping them out of no where. They seemed like youkai, but the monkey king could hardly tell in his half-sleep blurred vision. Both he and Hakkai were up and jumping to opposite sides, just barely being nailed by the claws that lashed out at them while they had been asleep. He suffered a minor scratch on the arm, thankfully the taller companion dodged any damage.
“Wah…! Where the hell did you come from?!” The young brunette shouted, Nyoibou materializing in time so that he could smash the staff down on a charging youkai’s head. It’s skull caved in with a sickly crunch and it collapsed to the ground with a loud thud. He would have liked to take a moment to take a closer look at it before jumping back as two others came at him, the last two occupied with Hakkai.
The chi user wasn’t doing so well, having a difficult time keeping track of the two he had to deal with. They were running circles around them and they blended in well with the dark forest around them. All he could really go by were the horrendous racket they caused with ease, and their detectable smell. He charged a strong blast and threw it at the closest, disintegrating the monster with no problem. But the other youkai attacker lunged at him from behind and pinned him down to the ground. It’s broad claws dug into his shoulder blades, causing him to gasp in pain.
It wasn’t on him long as a chain snaked out from the darkness in the trees and the youkai jumped off of Hakkai to avoid the blow of the crescent blade. Grimacing, the monocle wearing man groggily pushed himself up on his elbows to look and see his two companions joining them though he frowned. The shoulder of Sanzo’s robes were stained darkly and the blond looked sickly, both of them looked slightly winded having had to run all the way back from spring.
Hakkai somehow managed to his feet, one eye closed with the pain that ached his back. He still managed to greet them with a weak smile, removing the scroll that was the Maten Sutra from his jacket, “Gojyo, Sanzo, I take it you met some too…”
“You could…say that…” The monk ground out, retrieving the Sutra from the other. His breathing was short, lungs feeling as if they were being tightly pressed and the pain in his shoulder had slowly started to spread through his arm and into the crook of his neck. It had to be the work of poison now. That was keen, he was soaking wet in nothing but his outer robes and he was wounded and poisoned. “Need to get to a town…”
Gojyo had to agree on that…if Hakkai did any healing at this point, it wouldn’t be good for him in the least. The healing drew on his life force and if he was hurt enough, it would do more harm than good. Not to mention, last time he checked, Hakkai couldn’t cure poison. But before anything else, they had to execute what was left of their nightly assailants. Whether the monkey was still busy or not, the kappa focused on the one they currently had on hand which tried to attack Hakkai once again. Maybe the first attack had landed, but the red head had no intention of letting a second land as he promptly decapitated the fiend in mid-lunge. However, they weren’t about to relax until they were sure all the loose ends had been tied.
Ordering the wounded to stay where they were, Gojyo bolted towards where he was sure Goku was. He was relieved to see the monkey had done well on his own, three dead youkai and one grumbling boy. “Hey, what the heck is going on??” Goku demanded with an extremely loud whine, stomping around like a child on a tantrum, “I was having such a nice dream and these jerks jumped out of no where…!”
“Forget that, we need to get in Jeep and get the hell out of here!”
That got a stupid blink from Goku, as if he wondered just why they had to leave. “What, are more coming?”
“I don’t know…I don’t want to know! But Sanzo and Hakkai are hurt so we gotta leave, you stupid monkey!” The kappa promptly grabbed him by the collar to give him a viscous shake before shoving him in the direction the others were. It was one of those rare times he’d seen Goku look so shocked before making off like a bat out of hell. The notion that Sanzo was hurt was probably what really put some zip in the kid’s step. The red head followed suit, Hakuryu already in Jeep form and waiting with the others. “Dude…you’re not driving?”
He stood at the side of Jeep, staring at them which he had no time for considering the situation. Hakkai looked up with a shake of his head, his back pressed tightly against the seat to staunch his own bleeding. The green eyed youkai had taken Gojyo’s spot in the back with Sanzo and Goku, who was hovering around the priest like a hen, “I don’t want to be at the wheel if I end up losing consciousness…You need to drive…I don‘t think we‘re that far from a town, Gojyo, so we need to hurry. Sanzo really needs help more than I do.”

“My momma’s all worried I’m getting a cold and junk…but I don’t want to be here!” The little bright eyed girl whined, shaking her little fists as she stared up at the man. Her mother had dragged her to the doctor’s. Though it was some new man, everyone had gone on about how good he was. Not that she cared, but she found him a little creepy, “Can’t I just get a lollipop and go?”
“Oh no, no, you can’t. You need…a preventative shot, my girl. To help fight all ails and it will make you…much stronger, trust me.” The man with glasses cooed, a cigarette hanging limply from his lips. He had introduced himself to the townspeople as Doctor Nii, not disclosing much else to his name. Dressed in his best; his usual lab clothing though very clean and crisp, he had stowed himself in a nice nook in the pleasant town.
Wagging his finger with a smug grin, he turned his back to the child for a moment before turning back to her, an overly large syringe in hand with a needle seemingly too long to be prodding people with, “Now, lay down and this will be over before you know it…!”
