Chapter Two

Chapter Two

“Oh Mrs. Ketchum… it was awful!” Misty cried in the arms of her mother in law. Professor Oak was behind them and trying to dry her eyes with a handkerchief.

Misty had just walked in the door after Mr. Mime had answered it. Samuel and Delia were sitting down drinking tea and eating their breakfast around the coffee table, when the upset, crying and not to mention eight and a half month pregnant teen walked in.

“Misty what did Ash do?” Professor Oak asked soothingly, yet there was a bit of an edge to his voice.

“How… how do you… know that Ash did something?” The girl whimpered.

“Did he leave you?” The elderly researcher questioned seriously.

Misty brought her head up from Delia\'s shoulder, took a step back, and stared at the old man. Did he really believe that Ash would do something like that?

“What are you talking about?” Misty shouted, suddenly quite angry. “Ash would never do that!”

“Samuel, you see the poor girl is upset and you have to make things worse. And how could you say something like that about Ash!” Mrs. Ketchum screamed. “He would never run out of Misty\'s life. Especially not now… he knows that he has to take care of his responsibilities, that\'s what makes him so different from all those other boys who leave their girlfriends and children. I know my Ash and he would never think twice about doing that!”

Samuel seemed to take all of this in. It was indeed true; Ash was so unlike other young men his age. The Pokémon Researcher nodded and helped the trembling girl sit on the love seat.

“So then Misty, tell us what happened.” He stated calmly.

“Well, we were taking a bath together… and… oooh, I can\'t believe he said that!” Misty cried angrily. Delia and Samuel looked at each other, even though Ash and Misty were married, they were still young and they had no idea they were doing everything together. It was bad enough Misty was pregnant. “Anyway… I looked down at my tummy and I saw stretch marks on the side that I\'d never noticed before… and you know what Ash said? He… he said… “those look like they\'ll never go away!”… He was so mean! Why did he have to say that?”

Delia and Samuel glanced back and forth between each other; they didn\'t quite know how to respond. However, after a few awkward moments, Mrs. Ketchum smiled and answered the pregnant teen.

“It\'s ok honey. You can stay here as long as you like. Although Ash is probably on his way over here right now running faster then a Legendary Dog, just to say he\'s sorry.” Mrs. Ketchum told Misty. She expected to get at least a smile on her face but instead Misty screeched.

“I\'m never talking to him again!”

Ding-dong! The doorbell rang and Mimey quickly skipped over to answer it. It was Ash, sweat was pouring down his face, and tears were welling in his eyes. He had run to the house.

“Speak of the devil.” Professor Oak half mumbled and half spat out. It was amazing how sometimes he was so fond of the boy and other times he couldn\'t possibly be in the same room as him.

“Ash are you crazy?” Mrs. Ketchum yelled, taking off her apron and drying his face. “It\'s as hot as a Magmar out there, and you come running over here like a stampeding Tauros! What\'s wrong with you?”

“I\'m not crazy and nothing\'s wrong with me… I\'m just in love…” Ash walked over to Misty who was sitting on the couch with her head turned away from him. “…with Misty, and I wanna tell her sorry… and that I didn\'t mean to say that.”

“Mrs. Ketchum I hear a tiny little voice, I believe that it\'s speaking to me, can you please tell the jerk the voice belongs to, that I\'m not talking to him.” Misty said spitefully with her eyes closed and nose in the air.

“Ash, sweetie, I\'m afraid she\'s not talking to you.” Delia said apologetically to her son.

Ash stepped directly in front of Misty, but to his dismay, she turned her head the other way. This was getting nowhere. At least his mom and Professor Oak was on his side… or so he thought. Samuel let out a sigh from the other side of the room. He stalked up to the boy and pulled him and Delia into the kitchen for a private chat that he felt was totally necessary. Once in the kitchen he shoved Ash onto a chair and began his interrogation.

“I want to know exactly what you did to that girl that\'s making her so upset!” Professor Oak growled; an expression that no one had ever heard from him before. “Obviously it wasn\'t what she said you did.”

“Look, all I did was say something stupid that I know now that I shouldn\'t have said at all!” Ash shouted, he didn\'t like Professor Oak\'s tone of voice, and not to mention the way he had shoved him in the chair. “What the hell do you think I did?”

“Oh, I don\'t know…” He began sarcastically. “Maybe leave her, threaten to kill her and the baby, what else? Um… or maybe you\'ve been lying to her all this time and all you wanted was sex!”

“What!” Ash screamed. “And you people say I have problems?”

“Samuel! I\'m surprised at you!” Delia scolded. “What on Earth has gotten into you?”

“I\'m sorry Delia…” Professor Oak apologized. “I guess I got a little carried away… I\'m just trying to make sure the boy wasn\'t doing anything to make this already bad situation worse.”

“Huh? What bad situation? I already told you I didn\'t do anything!” Ash whined. “All I did was say some…”

“You did do something, you got Misty pregnant! That\'s the worst thing you could do to a girl her age!” Professor Oak roared, he than quickly lowered and softened his voice. “Now I want to know something… do you really love her?”

“Yes… with all my heart.” Ash whispered calmly. “I hate seeing her like this… crying because of me, it\'s not fair.” The expression on Ash\'s face suddenly changed and he once again returned to shouting at the elderly Pokémon researcher. “And what the fuck do you mean getting her pregnant was the worst thing I could\'ve done? Let me tell you something ass hole, that baby is a product of our love for each other and nothing, do you here me nothing, not even God himself can change that! I love her probably more than anyone or anything else in the world, even my own mom! And you know what else? I\'m never going to be like my dad, you hear that? Never! I\'ll never leave Misty and our baby. Never… I gave up a dream for her, and now I have a new one, and that\'s to be the best possible father to our baby.”

Mrs. Ketchum broke down in tears; it wasn\'t because Ash had said he loved Misty more, no it wasn\'t that at all, it was because he had grown up. The words he had just spoken were some of the most mature he had ever said in his life, and even more importantly, they came directly from his heart. Maybe the fact of the matter was that by Ash and Misty getting together, it made him a whole lot more mature, and with fatherhood creeping up on him, that only added to his maturity. Delia knew that Ash meant every word he said, even the part about his father, though it wasn\'t entirely true.

“Delia? What\'s wrong?” Professor Oak asked as he put his arm around her, funny how he showed so much affection for a woman he only lived next door to.

“It\'s just that… my little Ash has grown up so much…” Mrs. Ketchum cried. “It seems like only yesterday he was a baby… he\'s only sixteen but it\'s like he\'s so much older.”

Professor Oak laughed. It was true. Sometimes Ash was so serious and so determined that he appeared much older, and other times he was just like a regular kid.

“What are the fuck are you laughing for?” Ash cursed. He didn\'t see the humor in any of this.

“Ash look…you love Misty…”

“I just got finished explaining that shit to you!” Ash shouted, once again raising his voice. “Jesus Christ, what… do you have a fucking hearing problem or something?”

“Ash, watch your mouth please.” Mrs. Ketchum sighed.

The room fell silent as Mrs. Ketchum and Professor Oak stared at Ash. He looked at them curiously, and after a few moments he thought he heard a person crying. “Misty…” he thought. Soon the sound grew louder and the kitchen door opened to reveal Mr. Mime holding onto Misty\'s arm and leading her into the room.

“I heard everything…” She sobbed into a white handkerchief, which the Psychic Pokémon had provided. “Ash I\'m sorry.”

“Huh? For what?” He asked as he stood up and walked over to her. “I\'m the one that should be apologizing, it was stupid of me to say that… do you forgive me?”

“Of course I do. I just… over reacted, it\'s these stupid hormones.” Misty said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The couple kissed, while Delia sighed with relief. She knew the fight wouldn\'t last for long.

“So…” Ash said happily as he gave a final hug to his beautiful pregnant wife. “Would you like to finish the day that we were supposed to start together?”

“Sure.” The red head smiled, her face lighting up in a stunning glow. “Let\'s go get some breakfast first, we\'re starving.”

Misty rubbed her tummy for emphases of the we\'re part. Ash quickly agreed by kissing her stomach and leading her out his mother\'s house to begin the day together.
