The many tallents of Faye

The Drill: I don’t own Cowboy Bebop, but lord knows if I did I’d still write fan fiction.

Chapter two- Rock Paper Scissors.

Who ties rock paper scissors seven times? How is that even possible? Faye and Spike were furious with each other for the bizarre turn of events. Not only had they somehow managed to sleep with each other without realizing it was real, but they had somehow managed to piss Jet off during their battle to win the bedroom to the point where he had finally made an executive decision. They now shared the room.

“This is all your fault, lunkhead.” Faye whispered savagely under her breath as she shoved her way past him and into the bathroom to take her shower.

“Well I’m sorry I’m still alive, shrew.” Spike said, mildly to the door before giving up on getting a shower and going back to the living room to pass out on the comfy yellow couch. It had been like this for days. Ever since Jet had told them they were to share the room, Faye had taken the bed at night and Spike the couch. During the day the room was open territory, but the insults were never ending. The loss of personal space for the two had seemed the worst of all insults, but neither was willing to make a compromise about the situation.

“You could get bunk-beds.” Jet said, as he walked into the living room. “You could pretend you’re at summer camp and I’m your evil camp counselor.”

“You are our evil camp counselor.” Spike muttered, rolling over to shove his face into the back of the couch. “Camp Bebop. I wish I had food poisoning.”

“I can arrange that for you. But first things first, when Faye gets out here you two have a bounty to catch.” Jet tossed a piece of paper at spikes head and waited for him to read it before continuing. “ It should be simple enough, he’s a small fry. Ed says he spends his nights at the Lizard Lounge. Ed got Faye a job there. It should be simple enough, she’ll get up on stage and do her act and when she spots him in the crowd she’ll go sing straight to him. You’ll keep an eye on him until he leaves and bag him. It should go off fairly well.”

“Except Faye can’t sing.” Spike smirked.

“Says you.” Faye said, throwing a bag at Spike. “I sing just fine, thanks.”

“Whatever, Faye. You think everything you do is perfect.” Spike peeked into the bag she had thrown at him, it was a dark red dress, black stiletto heals a garter belt and black thigh high stockings. “I don’t really think this is my style, doll.”

“It’s not for you. It’s for me, and give it back I have to get ready.”

“How’d you find out about this before Jet told you?” Spike asked, trying to hide his curiosity.

“Ed told me this morning and I went out and bought the outfit before you even got your lazy ass off the couch.” Faye sashayed over to spike and grabbed the bag before going back to their room and getting ready.

An hour later, Faye emerged from the room looking like a 1920’s jazz singer. It was perfection. Jet and spike both tried their damnedest to keep their jaws shut and their eyes in their sockets. It was hard work.

Faye did a little spin showing off her flapper-style hair-do and the high slits in the side of her dress that just showed the top of her stockings when she moved just right. Even if she couldn’t sing, Spike and Jet both inwardly admitted that no one would notice with her wearing that outfit.

“So are we ready?” Faye asked, patting her hair one last time to make sure it was perfect.

“Wow, Faye. You clean up nice.” Jet smiled at her, warmly.

“Thanks, Jet. We’ll see you tonight, ok?” Faye said smiling brightly, and pulling spike off the couch and towards the hanger. They decided to take spikes Swordfish II, since Faye’s Redtail was almost out of fuel.

The ride to the club was mostly silent. This was the first time since “the incident” that the two had been alone together, and it did not go unnoticed by either of the bounty hunters sitting in the close quarters of the ship they were in.

*Oh man, she looks really good. Maybe I should tell her. No. No. She would hit me, or think I want to sleep with her again…* Spike thought as he tried to keep from outright staring at the beautiful woman he refused to admit he had feelings for, beside him.

Faye was having similar thoughts. Not about how she looked, but she couldn’t stop the soft warmth pooling in her stomach when spike was near. *That night, he said he missed me… Why cant I stop thinking about what happened?* Faye shook her head to clear her thoughts and forced herself to concentrate on the task at hand. Faye knew she had an ok voice, but as much as she hated to admit it, she was nervous about singing in front of a crowd.

When they got to the Lizard Lounge, they parted ways, Faye going through the back entrance to get ready for her performance, and spike through the font to grab a seat and wait for the show.

~!~

*This is it. * Faye thought to herself and stepped onto the stage. *Deep breath in and… *

It\'s been seven hours and fifteen days
since you took your love away
*Faye’s jade eyes swept across the room, looking for the bounty, her sultry voice mesmerizing every one in the room.*
I go out every night and sleep all day
since you took your love away
*Faye smiled softly, sadly, singing the words from her heart. She chose this song because it reminded her of spike, in a way.*
since you\'ve been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
*Her eyes caught spikes, just for a second, and she let the lines belt from her soul*
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
but nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues,
because nothing compares
nothing compares to you

Faye’s eyes swept the room, landing on the bounty as she gracefully walked down the stairs and over to his table.
It’s been so lonely without you here
like a bird without a song
Her hand traced his jaw line gently, her eyes penetrating his soul as she crooned out the words softly to the bounty. After a few moments she got up and turned to the rest of the crowd, working her way over to spike

Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms round every boy I see
but they\'d only remind me of you

She looked him in the eye as she sang the song, his song, their song. She sat on the edge of his table and slid her delicate fingers along his tie, pulling it out and pulling him closer to her face as she sang, giving him a small nod towards the bounty, making sure he knew that she had the right guy.
I went to the doctor guess what he told me
guess what he told me
he said girl u better try to have fun
no matter what you do
but he\'s a fool
\'cause nothing compares
nothing compares to you

Spike sat frozen as Faye sang to him, his drink poised in his hand, still half way to his mouth, but he couldn’t seem to move, he couldn’t seem to breathe…

All the flowers that you planted.
In the backyard
all died when you went away
I know that living with your baby was sometimes hard
but I\'m willing to give it another try
nothing compares
nothing compares to you
As Faye sang the last sad lines of the song she leaned in and softly brushed her lips against spikes before getting up and walking back to the stage, her walk more sultry than usual, her hips swaying just for him.

Spike sat dazed as Faye disappeared behind the curtain, while every man in the house stood and clapped and cat called and whistled. Spike couldn’t move. His drink still sat in his hand, half way to his lips, his lips that tingled from the light kiss Faye had given him. His mind was blank, hazy, trying hard to clear and remember why he was in this place where Faye was singing to him anyway. He couldn’t remember a woman who had ever seemed so beautiful, or who had ever made his mind go blank like that before.

Suddenly out of the corner of his eye he saw the other man Faye had crooned to. *Bastard. * He thought. His head cleared at the realization that he was jealous of a bounty… of someone because of Faye. *I’m going insane. * He decided, as he watched the bounty lay a tip on the table and get up to leave. Spike casually got up and followed the man out the door and towards the parking lot. Faye was already outside, she was walking closer to the man, he noticed her and turned around, she smiled at him and walked ever closer. Spike had to hold back an actual growl as he saw the man place his hand on Faye’s hip and pull her closer. She smiled up at him, whispered something in his ear… his mouth was coming so close to hers, Spike picked up his pace, suddenly pissed at the man who was about to kiss his bunkmate. Spike reached the pair and punched the man in the face. Faye jumped back, startled, she knew spike was near by, but she had expected him to let the man kiss her and cuff him while she had him distracted.

The bounty recovered from the punch fast and reached into his coat, pulling out a gun and shooting spike twice, once in the shoulder and once in the opposite leg. As spike fell to the ground Faye pulled out her own gun and shot the bounty, letting loose four shots, one into each of his limbs. She cuffed the bastard and dragged him to the Swordfish II, shoving him in before running to help spike, who was already limping back to the ship. After helping him in Faye took over the driving and flew them to ISSP. She quickly cashed in the bounty and flew back to the bebop.

Faye pulled Spike from the Swordfish and to their room, it took all her strength, for a skinny guy, spike sure weighed a lot. Faye placed spike on the bed and went to get the first aid kit, grumbling about spike fucking up the whole way.

“What the fuck were you thinking?!?!?” Faye exclaimed, while propping spike up and pulling off his shirt and jacket.

“I knew you wanted me naked again.” Spike said, ignoring the question at hand.

“Shut up.” Faye cleaned spikes wounds, shoving part of his shirt into his mouth and pressing hard on his mouth as she stuck the tweezers into the wounds to pull out the bullets. She cringed as he grunted in pain and arched against the hand she had pressed to his mouth. “Seriously, spike… why did you hit him? You could have cuffed him while I had him distracted.” Faye stitched the wounds and then sat back, waiting for spike to respond.

“I didn’t think you’d want to kiss him, is all…” spike mumbled, looking at his hands and trying to get his ‘tough guy’ façade back up before Faye could say anything else.

“Oh… well, that was.. Um.. . Nice… thanks?” Faye sputtered, wondering if spike had told her the whole truth, and hoping he hadn’t.

“mmyea. Welcome” Spike mumbled, as he slowly passed out in the bed.

“Looks like I’m taking the couch for a few days.” Faye smiled, pushing some of spikes hair out of his face, marveling at how soft it was compared to how it looked. “Night, lunkhead.” She said, leaning foreword and kissing his forehead without thinking, before pulling up the covers and walking out the door.

Spike fell asleep thinking of how nice it would be to feel Faye’s lips on his mouth again.

~!~

Faye came in the next morning in her towel, and started rooting around in the closet. Spike sat up in the bed with his cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth.

*Thud * “HEY!” Faye yelled, turning around to stare at spike, before looking down at the cigarette pack on the floor. “Oh, thanks.” Faye smiled, as she grabbed the pack and pulled out a light.

“Well, you look like you need one.” Spike said, scooting over so Faye could sit next to him on the bed.

They sat there in silence, smoking for a while, before Faye realized she was still wearing her towel. Blushing, she quickly pulled the tee shirt in her hands over her head and swung her legs off the edge of the bed, shimmying into her panties and jeans.

Spike watched in awe as she somehow managed to get fully dressed, bra and all without him ever seeing anything more than a flash of upper thigh. “Impressive dressing skills.” He noted.

“Just one of the many talents I possess.” Faye smiled over her shoulder on her way out the door.
