freedom

Thank you so much for all the reviews.

Again I don\'t own these characters.

Standing he walked down the stairs and for a moment he stopped in the door way. He watched everyone sitting around the table eating happily. Shigure made some bad pun and Yuki threw something at his head while Tohru giggled with her hand up to her face. And as he watched them he knew he had no place there. Not were everyone was happy and laughing. He was like a dark cloud that settled over them when he was near. It was best not to put them through that. Only he should be subjected to that. After all he was just a baka neko. It didn’t matter what he felt like. As long as nobody else knew.

And for just a moment he memorized everyone\'s face all over again. He treasured them all no matter how he acted. He looked at Shigure’s and how there came a sparkle in his deep brown eyes when he thought something. To the way the corner of his lips turned up first to offer a happy-go-lucky smile. Then Tohru’s and the soft way she laughed and how her eyes became so gentle. And he even studied Yuki’s face and the very way he tried to hide he was smiling from everyone.

Shaking his head he turned and left quietly. He never said good bye. There was no reason to, naturally they wouldn’t miss him. He wasn’t ever going to be missed. Maybe they would even celebrate. He didn’t know and he wasn’t going to find out. Turning his eyes to the ground he stepped off of the porch and was soaked in the matter of minutes. And if he had stayed for a moment more he would have heard Tohru ask where he was. He walked for a while never looking around him. All he did was put his head down and press though the harsh rain that felt like it was physically cutting him.

He slowed when he found a high cliff. Silently he looked over the edge wondering if it was really as far as it seemed. wind whipped around him and seemed to pull him further towards the edge as it bruised him with the pounding of it. He teetered for a moment before standing up straight as his one happy memory came back to him. Glaring bright and happy despite the dark clouds that hung over his head crying their acid tears for him. But then the wind blew twice as hard and pulled harder on him beckoning him to follow it down. Singing softly to him of the freedom he would have. And this time he followed it. The tune sounded so beautiful to him. Freedom was something he wanted so desperately.

As he fell he pivoted on one foot so that he was looking up at the angry clouds as he fell. He wondered as he fell and felt the wind rushing past him and whispering in his ears if this is what it felt like to be truly free. Without anything to bind you and hold you down. Without the chains that cut deeply into his skins till it bleed. And as all of his dreams this one too ended in a nightmare as his body slammed forcefully into the ground. He bounced back into the air once before smashing into the unforgiving ground again. He stared blankly up at the sky and watched the thunder roll in the clouds for a moment as he felt his body go numb. Slowly though he looked at the sky and saw a small glimmer of light through the dark clouds right before his world started to go wonderfully dark and unfeeling.

The only thing he thought as he laid there was that his smashed and broken outside finally matched his inside. And he didn’t have to worry about his prison or anything else cause he was going to die and he knew it and that thought brought a last slight smile to his lips. Slowly the last bit of air that was left in his lung rushed out and he stilled all over. And at that exact moment the sun shown again.

Haru looked confused as he saw Kyo walking. He had never seen the older boy look so small. Tilting his head to the side he followed quietly behind him. He stopped far enough away that he knew Kyo didn’t know he was there and watched him lean towards the edge of the cliff. Haru felt his heart jump into his throat as Kyo leaned even closer and then fell. Haru went to run and catch him but slipped on the mud looking up in time to see him fall and pivot to look up. Scrambling to his feet he rushed to the edge trying to catch Kyo’s hand.

The one that was desperately reaching out waiting for something to grab it but missed it. He was just a little to slow. The mud on the bottom of his boots making his feet slip against the ground.
