Chapter Two: The Sadness In Her Heart
Skight realized that she was late for school, way too late. Stuffing a pop-tart in her mouth she grabbed some books that she was sure she needed, and slipped on some tennies. Tripping on a loose shoe string and hopping out the door, she grabbed her car keys and headed for highschool. She threw her books on the passenger seat and started the engine.
Nothing but a whine.
“Aww, shit. You’ve gotta be kidding me! Come one you piece of shi-,” and with that, her car miraculously started. With a sigh of relief she pulled out of the drive way and got on the road.
About 8 or so minutes later however, she decided the hell with it and took a ‘detour’. Taking a right turn off of the pavement and into a bumpy, less traveled path, she began to hum. And slowly began to sing.
“I\'ll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You\'ve been the only thing that\'s right, in all I\'ve done
And I can barely look at you ,but every single time
I do I know we\'ll make it any where , away from here
Light up, light up , as if you have a choice
Even if you can not hear my voice, I’ll be right beside you dear
Louder, Louder and we\'ll run for our lives
I can hardly speak
I understand why you can\'t raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes , makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbyes, I nearly do
Light up, light up, as if you have a choice
Even if you can not hear my voice, I\'ll be right beside you dear
Louder, Louder, and we\'ll run for our lives
I can hardly speak
I understand why you can\'t raise your voice to say
Slower, slower we don\'t have time for that
All I want\'s to find an easier way to get out of our little heads
Have heart, my dear
We\'re bound to be afraid, even if its just for a few days
Making up for all this mess
Light up, light up, as if you have a choice
Even if you can not hear my voice
I\'ll be right beside you dear”
She started to cry, and then sob. That was their song. She thought it would have lasted forever. And then he left her. He said he would never leave. But it had been too good to be true. Things like that always were. She could still see his eyes, his gorgeous eyes. And she could still remember the way he held her. He’d been so strong, yet so gentle. So very reassuring. It was the same way he made love to her. He made sure that he got what he wanted out of it, naturally, but at the same time he made damn sure she was in ecstasy. He always tried to please her. It was just second nature to him.
She wiped at her tears when coming to a clearing. She didn’t want him to know she’d been so weak as to cry. Skight always came here every so often to speak with him. She made it a point to do so. Pulling her fiery red hair out of her face, she climbed out of the car and headed toward a tree. It was an old weeping willow that she had often visited when she was younger. And it was here that she met him. And where he left her. The beginning and the end. It was so appropriate, and she’d have it no other way.
Pushing the long wispy branches out of her way, she stepped into the cool darkness the tree provided. Looking ahead of her, she saw him. At least the way she’d seen him when they had first met. Arms crossed, eyes staring straight ahead, looking at something she didn’t see. She blinked, and he was gone.
Again, it was nothing more than her imagination telling her he may be out there. But he was never coming back. She fell to her knees, and let out a soul piercing cry. She needed him, so very badly. He wasn’t coming back, and there was nothing she could have done to keep him. It was all her fault....
— teehee! A cliffe for y’all to drag ya back! The song was “Run” by Snow Patrol, by the way.
