The heavy steel
door slammed open, rebounding against the cold, granite wall with a sound that
could have awoken the dead…had they been sleeping in this dark place. The
platinum blonde remained silhouetted in the rectangle of light for a moment,
then Sir Integra Fairbrooke Wingates Hellsing stormed down the slippery steps,
her shout of fury echoing in the depths of the hall.
“ALUCARD!!”
The
smirk flashed in the darkness, and shadows seemed to thicken in the tall backed
chair that sat at the far end of the hall. A white-gloved hand reached out and
casually poured red wine into one of the goblets. With slow, unhurried
movements, the monster drew the goblet to his wide mouth and sipped, savoring
the flavor as the echoes of his master’s rapid footsteps pounded down the hall
towards him. Scarlet eyes gleamed as he looked up, and the smirk widened as his
master came forward, anger adding speed to her feet. Her Burberry coat flared,
giving her shadow tattered wings, and there was a flash of silver steel, the
sound of metal ringing against metal echoing loudly in the deserted hall. She
descended on him, icy eyes pinned on his, and when her hand flickered, Alucard
smirked widely.
The
tip of her sabre pressed into the heavy wool of his coat, and as she stepped
forward, he felt it slide through the fabric, touching now the tough tweed of
his grey jacket.
“Why
did you do that, Alucard?” Her voice was harsh with her turbulent emotion; cold
eyes narrow as she focused entirely on her prey. “I gave you a direct order.
You disobeyed me. You violated my personal space. You left without waiting for
further direction or punishment.” Integra’s eyes narrowed even further, the
gaze of a hunter, and her wrist shifted, pressing the tip of the sword through
the thick tweed.
“All
that and more, my master,” he purred, leaning forward so the blade slid through
vest and shirt, now pressing directly into his plaster-white skin. “Do you
leave out the adjustment of your perspective? The awakening of your rage? I
smothered the guilt which would have kept you in the cold for centuries, and
brought out your pure. Killing. Anger.” The final three words were punctuated by
inches. Inches of shining steel sliding into his flesh as the vampire leaned
further forward, his gaze never leaving that of the Royal Maiden’s. Integra
glared down at him, and abruptly pushed the sword deeper into his flesh.
“I
do not leave anything out. You violated my orders, my space, and my desire. I
wished to be left alone there, Alucard, and I gave explicit instructions to
that effect.” Her voice dropped to a new level of chill. “Despite how much you
and the dead have in common, I wished to speak to them on my own.”
“No.
In truth, you wished to join them.”
There
was a brief widening of her sky-blue gaze, and then her eyes froze, all emotion
taking second place to the killing rage that swept through her with that one,
calmly spoken sentence. The abrupt gesture of her arm sent all three feet of
steel through the vampire’s body, the blade erupting from the back of the heavy
oak chair with a spray of viscous crimson fluid that spattered the blank stone
wall.
“Don’t
you ever take that tone of voice with me again, vampire! If there were a
way I could slay you, I would do so this very moment! How dare you
presume to know my thoughts?!? Do you feel yourself vindicated now, Alucard?
Repaid for the years of servitude? For this, I will see to it that I marry and
bear an heir, and I will train that heir to use you in such a manner as to make
service under me seem a blessing!” Her voice rose with each word, until she was
shouting, her voice harsh with the intensity of her wrath. The vampire looked
her in the eyes, a trickle of dark liquid marking his mouth again, and smiled. Déjà
vu struck the woman as her eyes fell on that mark of blood, and her grip
wavered for a moment.
Again,
it was a blur akin to watching lightning strike. The sickening sound of his
flesh parting as the blade was rammed deeper into his chest made her skin
crawl, but his laughter was worse. It echoed and reverberated, bounding off of
the careless stones and ringing in her ears. His hands closed on her upper arms
and hauled her into contact with his body, the hilt of her sword digging into
her flesh. The vampire’s fangs were visible as he leaned down, the blood stark
against the pale skin.
“So,
it is to be in this manner, my master,” he muttered quietly, one hand entangling
in her long silver hair, pulling painfully hard to draw her head back, arching
her throat. Her eyes met his fearlessly, and it was with glee that he saw the
killing rage still burning there. “Come, tigress,” Alucard taunted. “Do you
struggle or submit?” She snarled, quite feline in manner, and yanked forward.
He felt some of her hair tear from her scalp, wound tightly in his fist, and
their lips met.
The
taste of his blood was sharp in her mouth, combining with the mellow flavor of
the wine he’d just consumed. Their tongues dueled, her teeth biting viciously
into his lower lip, tearing open the surprisingly soft skin. The vampire seemed
to purr into her mouth, pressing harder against her, the hilt of her sword
bruising her ribs, the vampire’s blood staining her coat. Anger pushed her,
singing along her frayed nerves and heating her blood. Their eyes did not
close, but stared into each other as their mouths fought. Her hand was sliding
beneath his heavy coat, stroking along the lapels of his jacket, teasing at
buttons. He groaned, pressing their bodies closer together, and his hands began
to wander. Shadowy tendrils slid underneath her Burberry coat and teased at the
hem of her snug wool jacket, giving phantom pressure over her waist, sliding
upward to tease her breasts. She bit down on his tongue, sucking hard as she
pressed closer, her other hand moving abruptly up to grab a handful of his
hair.
There
was no finesse in this, no gentle teasing or parting of the maiden gates. It
was siege, and the vampire held the winning hand as his tongue slid along the
inside of her lips. Their hips met with an unexpected gesture, and her body
froze for a moment. It was her first encounter with an erection, and the sudden
stiffening of her spine made the vampire laugh. Alucard rolled his hips,
rubbing them together intimately, and pulled his mouth from hers to catch her
earlobe between his fangs. The lack of breath on her ear made her shiver: the
final realization of what exactly it was she was kissing. Her hands tightened,
one tangled in the inky locks of his hair, the other pressing hard against his
ribs, and then her body moved suddenly. Her hips surged forward, applying
pressure back against his, awakening luscious sensations along her nerves. The
content purr he had been emitting shifted to a rumbling growl…and then turned
into a pained, yet pleased, shriek.
She
stood three paces away, the vampire’s blood marking her lips, staining her coat
and jacket, the dripping blade in her hand. Integra’s eyes were still, still
burning with the killing rage, but now an icy satisfaction gleamed within their
azure depths. The vampire looked down at the gaping wound in his chest, at the
heavy flow of thick blood that coursed down his lithe body and puddled around
his feet. His head lifted. Their eyes met.
He
laughed.
She
snarled.
The
shadows swirled.
And
they both vanished.
