Chi Ki’na

Chi Ki’na is a very difficult
language to learn, though there are a few easy rules to help with
pronunciation. Syllable separated by a hyphen (-) or an apostrophe (‘) denote
that each syllable should be pronounce with a slight pause in between.
Therefore, Ki’na is pronounced “Key <slight
pause> na” not “keyna.”
Apostrophes are used to separate syllables the have a consonant at the
beginning or end of one and a vowel at the other. Hyphens separate syllables
that end and then begin with a vowel.

Chi Ki’na: The name of Mikael’s
race. It means “Chi Warrior-Mage”.

Chi: Chi is the life force that binds soul and body
together. Only the Chi Ki’na possess the ability to
harness it and use it.

Khi vole oy-u:
“I love you”

Che’koy-ya: “For Clan and Honor”;
the ancient battle cry of the Chi Ki’na.

Shuku: Generic term for class=SpellE>lycan in Chi Ki’na; used
derogatively.

Nalc: Clan

Ta’mé: A word found only in the
Chi Ki’na language. It is so complex and carries so
much meaning that few can actually comprehend or even explain the concept to
others. The closest translation is something along the lines of “soul mate”,
though even that does not convey anything close to the emotion implied in this
word. Only Chi Ki’na can fully understand it.

Lu’keen: Holly’s name in Chi class=SpellE>Ki’na.

Loupe Species class=SpellE>Lycan

The loupe species of lycans have a
language all their own. To most it sounds harsh and guttural, but such is the
nature of the loupe people. It is made of not only syllables but many unusual
sounds made at the back of the throat; along with clicks of the tongue. A
throat sound in a word is denoted with a percent sign (%) and a tongue click is
expressed with and asterisk (*).

Chel*ka: The loupe word for Chi class=SpellE>Ki’na; it means the same as “unjustified murderer” for some
odd reason.

K%ya: This word represents the
pack, the basic family unit of the loupes. A pack is made up of an alpha male
and his mate, along with anywhere from four to ten individual families. A typical
pack can easily number in the sixties and well up into the hundreds.

Yeshlam: The loupe word used to
beg for mercy; rarely used since none is usually given.

*ta: “Mate”

Lund class=SpellE>throth% shouk*: “Brother, please
don’t!”
