Part II, Chapter I
Part II, Chapter I:
Jet keyed in a few commands into his consol as the Bebop took a stationary orbit above Mars. The large man leaned back in his seat and sighed as his mind drifted to the woman who also called the ship home. He had been worried about Faye over the past week. She had only approximately four weeks until her child was due, and while she was happy to bring the little boy or girl into the world, she also seemed sad.
He knew that she missed Spike; hell, they all did, and while he never had kids of his own or dealt with many pregnant women, he knew that the sadness that she was feeling wasn't good for her or for the baby.
As he looked down at the planet, a slight upturn of his lips formed as he locked up his consol and headed off the bridge in search of said pregnant woman.

Faye laid on the couch, watching a old movie, her feet elevated by a pillow as her head rested on a small throw pillow which sat on the lap of their resident hacker, Ed. A soft smile traced her lips as the girl marveled over the kicks and movement she felt under the hand that was sitting on Faye's swollen belly as the girl explained to Ein that they would have to watch over the 'cuddly little baby' that Faye would soon be having.
It had been nearly a week since the confessions that she had made to her little one and the Welsh corgi, and it had become increasingly difficult for her to take her mind off of her missing one-time lover. Each night she had dreamed of the evening they spent together and every morning, she couldn't help the absolute need to see him again.
'I just want to find him, but we don't even know where to look. And…and what if he doesn't want to come back?' Faye thought with a sigh as a sing-song voice pulled her from her musings.
"Faye Faaaye?"
"Yeah, Ed?"
"What do you think the baby will be?"
"Hmm…a baby?" She said and smiled, watching as the girl shook her head furiously.
"No no, Ed thinks it gonna be a giiirl!"
"I've been thinking of names for little boys and girls…" Faye said, smiling up at the young girl.
"Ed, it's not goin' to be a girl, it's going to be a boy." Jet's voice came from the doorway, drawing the females' attention.
"You sound awfully sure of yourself, Jet." Faye pushed herself up, leaning against the back of the couch.
"I am sure." He said with a smile before sitting on the arm of he couch beside her. "Feel like takin' short walk?"
He watched as the woman nodded and helped her to her feet and guided her from the room, leaving the other two behind to finish watching their movie.

"So, how are you feelin', Faye?" The bulky man asked as they walked the corridors of the ship.
"I'm fine. A little more tired than I'm used to being, and I feel like a whale." She grumbled, looking up to him. "My back hurts and my little demon is using my kidneys as punching bags. Its nothing I can't deal with though."
"That’s good. You know that I worry 'bout you and I don't think it’s a good think for you to be trapped on this ship. You need to get off the ship for a while." He pressed the door controls, opening the door to the next corridor. "We're in orbit of Mars and I don't think it'll do any harm if you went down and did a bit of shopping and just got some air that wasn't recycled. If you want, I'll land and go out with you or I'm sure Ed would go shopping with you if you wanted company."
Faye leaned against the gray walls for a moment, thinking about what Jet was proposing. Inwardly, she knew that he was right despite the sigh that escaped her lips. While she was able to get some supplies for her baby, there still were things that needed to be gathered such as diapers, bottles and more baby clothes. "But…"
"No buts. I already know what you're going to say. Don't worry about the crib. We'll get it put together in a couple days," He said giving her a smile. "And who knows, you might find something that you forgot you needed down there."
"All right…" The green-eyed woman nodded. "I'll take my ship. I think I'll be fine by myself though."

'Damn him for being right.' Faye thought as she walked out of a small baby boutique with bags in her hand. She had found a bedding set, mobile, toys and more cocoa butter for her belly along with a few other small things. She felt a bit happier and more relaxed as she walked through the streets clad in pair of comfortable black sandals, black maternity Capri's and a red maple colored v-neck shirt that clung to the top swell of her belly. Her hair had grown and brushed a bit past her shoulders, occasionally being blown into her eyes by the warm air.
A small yet true smile traced her lips as she made her way towards her ship. Her feet were a bit sore from walking through the city and various stores, but she knew that soon she would be able to relax on the bebop once more. 'Hmm…maybe I can coax Jet into giving me one of his famous foot massages…I'll just use the almond roca that I got for him as a bargaining chip for-'
Faye was pulled from her thoughts when a hand wrapped around her arm tightly, pulling her into an alleyway roughly. Her back was pushed roughly against the brick wall behind her.
"Give me your woolongs, bitch!" The man ordered as he produced a knife and held it to her chest.
"I…I don't have any more!" She said honestly. What woolongs she had brought with here had been spent on her purchases and her card had been left on the ship.
Beady eyes moved down, taking in the swell of her belly. A sinister smirk traced his lips as he moved the knife downward, holding the tip of he blade against her abdomen. "Last chance, bitch."
Tears burned in her eyes. She couldn't fight the man for risk of hurting herself and her little one; Spike's legacy. "Please…don't hurt-"
She didn't get a chance to finish as the man flew to the right, the blade missing her belly completely as she staggered away from the scuffle that was occurring in front of her. Her attacker was being throttled to say the least in a style of fighting that was familiar, yet there were a few moves that she had never seen interspersed within.
'Who…' She thought, unable to move and unable to tear her emerald orbs away from the obviously unfair fight.
