Chapter 2, Empty Footprints

Chapter two, Ashiato kara:

Two and a half hours later, the three musicians stumbled out of the studio, exhausted beyond belief.

“Fujisaki....no offense, but next time I'm asking Seguchi to make Hiro in charge if Sakano and K decide to bail on us again.” Shuichi said groaning as he popped his neck.

Hiro sighed, pulling out a cigarette as they stepped outside to the bright sunshine. Hiro and Shuichi nodded to Fujisaki [1] as they headed back to Hiro's motorcycle.
Shuichi sighed, plopping on the helmet, and climbing onto the bike, wrapping his arms around his best friend.

“Ne, [2] Hiro......what should I do?” he asked quietly.
“Hm.....well you should first talk to both Sakuma-san and Yuki-san about the situation. Then somehow get them to talk to each other....without raising hell in the process.” he said, snickering at the last part of the comment.

Shuichi pouted slightly,

“I dunno if I can get them into the same room without having Yuki yell at Sakuma-san. Sakuma-san, well, you know how he is when he's serious about something..” he mumbled, trailing off. Hiro frowned, not liking how his friend was acting at all.

It was then that he decided. He was going to make this work somehow, and kill K later for even setting them up. Hiro knew it was the wacked up american.

Shuichi sighed, curling into Hiro's back on the bike as they sped off to his apartment. Upon arriving, they hopped off, and went upstairs. Shuichi immediately went into the bedroom and fell asleep right away.

Hiro sighed, walking over the bed, and sat down on the edge, swinging his legs over, sitting upright. He eyed Shuichi sleeping form, reaching over ruffle the pink hair. His eyes then narrowed, gleaming. Sakuma-san and Yuki-san, he decided, were going to solve this issue without Shuichi as much as possible His best friend has been hurt enough, now, and in the past three years or so he's been with Yuki.

Across town, in a smaller apartment, strains of music could be heard at all hours, though quietly. Fujisaki ran his fingers across his keyboard, tapping his foot to the tempo.
“Damn...needs to be 135 Tempo [3] taken too slow before...” he mumbled, scribbling some notes on the manuscript paper. He kept playing, him holding his pencil in his mouth by the eraser, determined to make the song right, and to not disappoint his cousin, as well as the rest of the band.

Finally after two more hours he sighed, slumping back in his chair, staring at the manuscript in his hands. He shook his head, unsure. It was one of the few songs that he had excessive trouble with...Shuichi had given him compromising lyrics.

A second later the phone rings, causing him to nearly jump out of his skin in shock.
He sighed, standing, and walking over to pick up the phone.

“Moshi Moshi? [4]” he said into the phone.

“Hai, Fujisaki-kun? This is Hikari-kun, from the previous party. I hear your having a little trouble arranging the new single, Suresure Naru Kisetsu?” the low, female voice asked.

Fujisaki's eyes narrowed,

“Perhaps. Doshite? [5]” he asked. Hikari-kun smiled on the other end of the line, knowing that he would ask that.

“I have been assigned by your cousin, Seguchi-san to help you while I am in town for the next year. I expect you, Nakano-san, and Shindou-kun to be at the studio bright and early tomorrow morning. Am I safe to assume that you can deliever this message to your bandmates?” she asked, immediately getting to the point.

Fujisaki sighed once again, twitching at the thought of another long rehearsal session. As if reading his mind, she continued,

“And don't worry....it shouldn't be as long as today's. If all goes well, your single should be finished by 11am, or lunchtime, at the latest. I won't allow Shindou-kun to shirk in his responsibilities this time.” she finished. Fujisaki blinked, and smiled.

“Well, if you put it like that, we'll see you at the studio in the morning. Arigatou Gozaimashta [6]” Fujisaki said before hanging up. His smiled widened.

He then decided that he liked this Hikari-kun....very much so.

Footnotes:
1 – In Japan, if you wave at someone, it's considered to be a rude way of saying goodbye. Most people bow or nod to show a sign of respect.
2 - Ne – Hey
3 – 135 tempo – to put this into simpler terms, 120 is usually the standard speed upbeat songs start at. 135 is quite a bit faster than 120....Fujisaki is quite insane in this sense. *snickers *
4 – Moshi Moshi – standard way of saying 'hello' in Japan
5 – Doshite – why?
6 – arigatou gozaimashta – Thank you very much (past tense)
