Something I Can Never Have

She knew what he was there for when she woke up and saw him standing over her, staring with those unflinching eyes of his.
She had stood up from her bed still in her dress from the formal function her friend had dragged her too, without a care that a strap had slipped down. She didn't care that he was probably getting a good view of her breasts when she had so fiercely hid them from everyone else with her shawl.
She knew in the pit of her stomach what he was there for. He moved forward in that quiet manner of his and slipped the other strapped down.
She knew that she was being used before it happened and despite several attempts she couldn't find it in herself to stop. She couldn't fathom why she would just let them play her off of each other. Maybe she just wanted to believe she was wanted, loved, desirable even; the possibilities were endless but it didn't matter either.
The simple truth of the matter was that they were very good at fooling others into believing what they wanted them to believe, and she didn't care that they did it to her in the heat of those moments. It was only after those moments were gone (much like they were) that the guilt would hit her.
She wondered if she would be pathetic enough to cry over it this time as she sat in the chair, watching and waiting for him to wake up and leave without a word.
In a moment of poetic feeling, she thought how their betrayal lay between those sheets.
She knew he had only done it to get back at that wayward lover of his, not because he held any real feelings for her, and that Walter was going to be pissed.
So she sat there smoking a cigarette while waiting for him to come back to the waking world. She wondered briefly why she was smoking if it didn't bother her; she only smoked when she was severely stressed. She found that humorous in a hypocritical way.
She also knew that the most frightening thing about this whole scenario was (besides her impending doom at the hands of a very upset Angel of Death), despite it all, she still couldn't find it in her to care.

A/N: Has the repetition pissed you off yet? Lol, damn straight I'm evil. By the way, I purposely write something wrong on each chapter; I just want to see if anyone actually pays attention to detail ;)
