Uncertain Responsibilities

Chapter 2

We quietly sat around the table eating the sundae’s which Satoshi had brought for us all. Every so often I noticed that he would be watching me over his sundae, when our eyes would meet he would quickly look away. This would then cause me to dribble my sundae down my chin helping me to hide the blush that would form. Satoshi would slightly move forward each time to clean my face before restraining himself and continuing to eat his sundae before anyone noticed his actions.
“Seriously Daisuke we can’t take you out anywhere” Riku cried as she held my hand spinning me around so she could wipe my face, this caused me to blush even more harder
Risa attempted and failed in hiding a giggle at the whole scene of having her sister cleaning my face, whilst Satoshi just watched carefully with a hint of jealousy in the corner of his eye. To cover up my embarrassment Riku struck up a pointless conversation about the countless combinations in which a person could use sprinkles on ice-cream. After all these years we all had maintained a strong bond of friendship, especially between Hiwatari and me. We both had long since had other halves sealed away finally letting us have a less deadly friendship.
“So why did you two break up?" Riku inquired out of the blue
“What!” Risa spurted between mouth fulls on ice-cream.
“Well I mean you never did explained the reason behind the breakup”
I brought my attention to Risa and Satoshi whom both seemed at unease over the sudden question.
“It’s complicated” was the only responses given by Satoshi as he rose to leave the table he gave me sideward glance
“Also it’s between Risa and me” he added as he walked away down the street
“Risa I really can’t see what you saw in him. You are both total opposites that I can’t see what the attraction could have be between you both”
“I thought he was a little odd when I first met him” I added
“Who was the one to break off the relationship?”
“He was “Risa replied as she sadly watched Satoshi walking towards his Vesper
Once we had finished our sundaes we rose and walked along the streets leading to the Harada mansion. Riku held my hand while Risa had arms interlocked with my arms.
“Why do you think he always looks so lonely?” I spoke to myself as I stared up at the sky
“I mean he has all these friends” I added
“Because he knows no other way Daisuke” Risa replied trying not to let the question spoil her mood.
As we approached the gate I could see a black Vesper parked in the driveway outside the house, with a blue haired teen leaning against the wall.
“Satoshi” Risa squealed as she ran to glomp him in a hug.
“Doesn’t look like they’ve broken up to me, doesn’t it Dai?”
I nodded my head in agreement as we continued on towards the house, as we approached I noticed that Risa had her arms wrapped around Satoshi. He gave me a quick awkward glance as we all stood together at the door his demeanor at my sudden presence seemed slightly more ridged then normal.
“It’s a surprise to see you here Hiwatari”
“Well Risa had wanted to tell me something Niwa” he replied stoically
Taking this as a cue to move into the house Risa dragged Satoshi into the house which caused him to stumble from the sudden movement.
