Title: It all Starts
Author: Jigoku no Miko
Author’s Quote: Getting on your feet requires getting off of your ass
Today at some point I awoke,
Got up and finally got the joke
Got up the nerve to finally face me
Finally force a change
To say the least today’s been strange
Tonight I’ll finally just relax
Proud having finally faced the facts
The facts forced me and I’ve concluded
Tomorrow I’ll be less polluted
Finally I was forced to face my fears
Finally- Mighty Mighty Bosstones
A young emperor in a red robe sat on his throne in a slouch obviously bored. The door in front of him opened before two guards entered and bowed in front of him.
“Your highness we have found another young girl, she has no recollection of how she got here but was surrounded by a red light when she was discovered.” One of the guards spoke.
“Where is she?” The young emperor questioned.
“She passed out a few moments after we found her, she is in one of the cellars below.” The other guard responded.
“Are you two such incompetent idiots, put her in one of the spare rooms and inform me the moment she awakens.”
“Yes sire!” The two said in unison before leaving the emperor in solitude once again.
Kana awoke in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room. Sitting up she groaned and held her head before walking over to the window and looking out over the large city below. “I don’t think I’m in Kansas anymore.” She sighed with shock.
“So you’re awake.” A male voice came from the doorway. Kana jumped around to see a man with silver hair held back with a hat and a long red robe on standing in the doorway.
“Where am I?” She questioned uneasily. ‘Is this guy a cross dresser or what?’ She wondered looking over his ensemble.
“You are in the capitol of Konan, Eiyo. I am Hotohori the emperor of this city.” He introduced himself.
“Emperor?” Kana echoed at a whisper.
“Yes, may I ask what your name is?”
“Uh… Kanashimi, but my… friends call me Kana.” She whispered still in amazement. “I think I need some fresh air.” She murmured holing her chest.
“Please allow me to show you around, maybe you could tell me about where you come from.” He turned and walked out the door and Kana followed wearily. The two walked in silence for a few moments before a young, handsome blue haired man went running between the two followed by what appeared to be a woman with purple hair. Kana looked after the two trying hard to place where she had seen the two before. “You’ll have to excuse Tamahome and Nuriko they’re a little… well…” Hotohori started.
“Psychotic?” Kana finished.
“Yes.” Hotohori agreed. “Well now, where are you from?” He questioned. Kana looked at him for a moment before speaking.
“Tokyo, Japan.” She whispered.
“Where is that?” He looked at her confused.
“Aren’t we in Japan?” She tilted her head in confusion.
“No, China. You must be from another world. Tell me did you find a book called the Universe of the Four Gods?” He asked.
“No, but it does sound familiar.” Kana thought hard about where she had heard that name before. “No shit.” She whispered with a gasp when she realized where she had heard it before and where she must be. “I’m in Fushigi Yugi? Chité.” She gasped sharply before feeling queasy. She put her hand on her head and closed her eyes.
“Kana? Kana are you okay?” Hotohori questioned with a tone of worry to his voice.
“I-I-uh, no.” She mumbled before falling unconscious yet again.
Kana awoke again in that unfamiliar room. Sitting up she looked out the window and noticed it was dark out. Making her way outside she found a small gazebo and sat on the roof looking up at the stars. ‘I can’t believe I’m in Fushigi Yugi, but how did I get here? I don’t remember. I guess I’m stuck here now though so I might as well help Miaka all that I can. But still me being here is going to screw things up, if I interfere too much things may not occur the way they’re supposed to. I guess there’s nothing I can do about it though.” She thought before sliding off of the roof and landing in a crouch on the balcony.
“Kana you scared me.” Hotohori gasped from where he was leaning on the railing looking into the small pond below.
“Hotohori.” She gasped surprised herself. ‘So that’s where he went.’ She thought remembering what happened between him and Miaka. “I wanted to talk to you.” She stated jumping back onto solid ground.
“Really now? What about?” He questioned.
“About Miaka… er… the priestess of Suzaku.” Kana sat on the railing.
“What about her?” His voice was calm but scared at the same time.
“Well… I-I pledge my ligancy, even though I am not one of Suzaku’s seven warriors I will help protect her and aid in her discovery of the other four warriors.” Kana looked up at him from the place on the floor where her eyes had drifted. Hotohori looked at her confused.
“How do you know about the Suzaku seven and Miaka’s voyage?” He questioned wearily.
“Well I’m not from this world and where I am from there was this TV show called Fushigi Yugi, it was all about Miaka and her voyage to find the other Suzaku warriors.” Kana explained.
“What’s a TV?”
“It’s a big black box that projects an image.” Kana sighed hopelessly.
“Oh.” Was all he said before walking over to Kana and looking her straight in the eyes. “You are a girl of many secrets I can tell but I can also tell you only hide what you feel is necessary you will fight true I have faith.” He whispered before walking off.
“So tomorrow it begins… yeehaw.” Kana mumbled sarcastically before turning back to the midnight sky. Returning to her room she spotted some white candles on the dresser before a large grin crossed her face, setting them in the proper places on the small table in the corner she focused intently on someone she thought to be a spirit and hoped she got the incantation right.
“By the magic of the moon
By fairy spell
By the mysteries which here do well
Dreams, desires and mystery might
Born on moonbeams silver light
Come now before me in my mystical circle!”
She yelled the last before the candles light flickered low, almost going out and then came back strong.
“Subaru?” Kana whispered before there’s was a kind laugh in the background.
“Whew, I got the incantation right I am so relieved you would not believe what’s happened to me.” No one else stood in the room as Kana spoke just the air.
“Please tell me what has happened that has you so flustered?” A sweet voice giggled again, it was Subaru’s voice the “spirit” Kana had been talking to for the past week.
“I woke up in this desert and there were these two guards and they questioned me but I was so tired I just fell back asleep. When I woke up there was this guy here and he said he was the emperor, I just thought he was a cross-dresser. But it turns out I’m in this thing called The Universe of the Four Gods and I know everything that’s gonna happen here cause it was all on TV. I’m in a cartoon series… I wonder if that means I’m gonna be on TV.” Kana rambled as the “spirit” remained silent.
“Please tell me more, do you remember how you got there?”
“Umm… no, no, I remember… oh I was in the café and then… oh.” Kana trailed off.
“What happened at the café?” Subaru questioned.
“Dani, Dani told me…”
“Dani told you what?”
“That he loved me.” She whispered sitting on the bed.
“Oh dear, well what did you do?”
“I ran out in the rain and then… I wished for a way to leave and not paying attention I ran into this guy, he was pretty cute now that I think of it. Anyways I was talking to him for a minute and then I woke up here.” Kana summed confused. “I don’t get it! How did I get from running down the streets of Tokyo to the middle of a desert in Konan?”
“I don’t know Kana, but you should get some rest it sounds like you’ve had a long day.” The candles got dimmer as Subaru’s voice got quieter.
“Goodnight.” Kana whispered before the candles went out and the “spirit” was gone.
