Raquaza's Gift
“Sage Aria predicted the movement of Aqua again, General Avery.”
“Of course.” Aria nodded. “That is why I have two minds… One plans, the other acts. Do not move in until they absolutely need help.”
“Why so late?”
“We must wait…” He warned. “We will be quickly hailed as heroes if we attack at the right time. We are not terrorists, we have to be reactive.”
“Very well, General.”
“And never mention either of us or the Fortree Gym.” Aria warned. “I can’t pay your salary if Fortree shuts down.”
“Very well… We will do as you say.”
“Aria!” Winona pounced as he left the room. “Whatc’ha doin’?”
“That boring accounting that you don’t like.” He waived. “Also, I had to call someone about some research I was doing on Rayquaza.”
“Why do you want to know about him?”
“I’m a dragon trainer… Both of us, actually.” He explained. “So we need to study rare dragons.”
“Oh…”
Night turned as Aria read a memo. “Rayquaza nests at the Sky Pillar, and now is the season to find him. You will meet our admin at Pacific Log Town tomorrow.” He blinked at the note. “…That’s a little unreasonable… I have to leave now.”
Under the cover of night, a Pidgeot took wing and departed to the south. The incredible speed of the bird allowed it to reach its destination as dawn broke. At the Pokecenter, the administrator for Team Aero appeared bearing a green Chinese shirt adorned with the team crest. “It’s wonderful to see you again, Sage Aria.”
Aria glanced around. “Should we be speaking so loudly?”
“Of course.” He smiled. “The entire town believes in our mission, and the Nurse is on vacation, so we can use this as our base.”
Aria blinked, then looked over to the counter. “Then who is that Nurse Joy?”
The girl laughed, pulling the buns out into knee-length pigtails. “He’s even cuter than you said!”
“This is Lovrina. We recruited her from Team Cipher in Orre.” The team admin explained. “…I used you as a bargaining piece, I must apologize.”
“How about some food and a trip to the Sky Pillar?”
"Of course.”
“But we will have a small party.” Aria glared. “We do not need attention.”
“As you wish, Sage Aria.”
Armed with the admin and the newly-recruited Lovrina, Aria started his climb up the tower. In ancient times, this was the Hoenn answer to the tower of Babel. However, this construction was in violation of Rayquaza’s airspace and made it his home. In actuality, he spends as much time as trainers do at their own homes on-season. The only time in which he can be seen is the spring, where he rests for workings of the latter part of the year. In this state, he is more willing to suggestion, making room for Team Aero to befriend him.
“Lord Rayquaza…” Aria slid. “Please forgive us for disturbing your rest. We were…”
“I know what you are here for.” The serpentine god roared. “You are the two-souled dragoon of Johto, Ariaver Hasaki. Your name is combined of a feminine and masculine name, Aria and Avery, to show your understanding of all sides. I believe I am talking to the side that uses this knowledge to manipulate man and beast, ‘Sage’ Aria.”
“You are correct.” Aria nodded. “So, about the proposal?”
“Summon your Pokemon…” He glanced. “All of them.”
Aria barked as he produced his balls. “That is an order!” He summoned Dratini, Pidgeot, and Salamence.
“As you command.” The admin summoned a Swellow.
“And nobody’s worried that a Pokemon is talking?” Lovrina questioned as she summoned Delcatty.
The dragon looked over the team. “These Pokemon are in no way capable of attacking me. How do you expect to gain my powers?”
“I never asked for a battle, nor do we wish to capture you.” Aria countered. “We just ask for your grace as we clear the skies of man’s work.”
“You came all this way to ask me permission to do my work for me?” He questioned. “But yes, I will grant you my graces…” He lashed his tail out and encircled the leader completely.
As the time went through, the tail loosened, revealing Aria and another. The other, bearing sapphire hair and eyes and nothing else stood up and motioned to the admin. “Your jacket.” She wrapped herself in the clothing and added. “…You never saw my body.”
The Admin’s eyes clouded over as he replied with a soulless tone. “Yes… Sage Aria…”
“Avery. You’ll be returning to the gym. Lovrina, you the admin and I will be heading to the Aero Base…” The newly formed commander announced. “(And I need to find a little about my new form…)”
“Of course.” Aria nodded. “That is why I have two minds… One plans, the other acts. Do not move in until they absolutely need help.”
