The search for the Pretear
May 1: I have to decided to keep a diary. I believe that this will allow me to get in touch with my feelings and analyse them more accurately.
May 14: Our search for the Pretear continues. How is it we have touched so many young girls and none of them had any reaction to our hands? Hayate continues to brood. I know he is feeling guilty about Takako, but we could really use his help. I do not know why but he does not wish to find the Pretear. He knows very well that we cannot protect the world from the Princess of Disaster without the Pretear. It is all very perplexing.
May 15: Hayate’s stubbornness knows no end! He ran into the Pretear herself earlier today, and was not going to tell us! Luckily, I noticed he had that sketchy and shifty look about him. He refused to meet my gaze, which immediately told me that something was up. I had to approach him carefully. If he thought I was angry with him or combative in any way, he would not reveal who she was. But it is fortuitous that I am the Knight of Sound for I can be persuasively soft spoken.
Hayate took us immediately to meet the new Pretear. Her name is Himeno Awayuki. She seems a very cheerful, pretty sort of girl. And, she is willing to help us out. Everyone immediately took a liking to her, except Hayate. What is his problem? Himeno is beautiful, kind, sincere, happy – who could not like her? When she looks at you and smiles, wow, it is as you are the only person in the entire world! I look forward to working with her further.
May 20: The appearance of demon larva in the human world has increased.
I think I understand why Hayate appears to dislike Himeno so much. It is almost as if he is afraid she will become another princess of disaster! Therefore, he treats her coldly so that she will not gain any affection for him. What troubled reasoning! I must try and speak with him.
She is a very sweet girl, but gets so embarrassed when I sit beside her. Perhaps she is falling in love with me? I casually mentioned it to Goh and Hayate, their reactions weren’t encouraging. Goh laughed uncontrollably, and Hayate just glared at me.
“Why would you want her to be in love with you?” he asked me and then stomped away. Sheesh. Not everyone is as cold and unable to love as he is.
May 21: I feel bad about what I said about Hayate. He is not as cold as I make him out to be. I know that he only has everyone’s best interests at heart.
Himeno continues to improve her preting skills. She is always so happy and optimistic. What a sweet girl. The little Knights are quite fond of her.
May 25: Himeno said the sweetest thing to me today, she said all men should be kind like me. She said I am a much better teacher than Hayate. Why do I feel so warm and happy when I think about her?
May 30: It is strange. I caught Hayate following Himeno. He is evidently guarding her from something, but what and why he will not share it with the rest of us I do not know. I thought he didn’t care for her!
