Haji opened the door and set her inside the warm pub. “Yo Haji any new….SAYA!” yelled the red head working the grill. “Kai!” she squealed as he ran to her locking her in a bear hug. “You haven’t changed” “I told you I never will.” “You remember well after all it had only been three years…oh what’s this?” he asked holding her hand. “Haji..” he punched Haji in the arm playfully. “Bout time! Wow look at that. It must have cost a fortune.” “Joel gave it to me, at his birthday we were suppose to toast to our marriage but with the circumstances..” “Haji you held on to this all this time?” “of course. I designed it myself.” “I never knew.” She held him for a long wile pondering before she remembered Kai was there. “Kai how are you how is everyone and how are Riku’s..” “We’re all great and the twins will be ecstatic once they see you. Every week it’s ‘let’s go visit auntie Saya.’ They love Haji. Man just wait, they follow him around like lost puppies.” She turned to Haji. he just smiled and shrugged. “Haji, You don’t think…” raising an eyebrow he started. “Sa…” but he was interrupted by two giggling four year olds chasing a blond boy. They stopped and stared at her. the young boy took this chance to hide behind Haji’s leg. He looked at the tall man fearfully at first but calmed as Haji bent down and assured him “Don’t worry they won’t really turn you in to a Chevalier.” The girls became fixed upon their aunt and ran to her embracing her in a strong hug. “Auntie Saya auntie Saya!” they chorused. Haji smiled at them. “Do you remember our names auntie Saya?” “You are Hana,” she said looking to the girl with dark cedar eyes, “and you are Ayaka” she said turning to the girl with cerulean eyes.” They smiled but before they could ask a million questions they Kai tried to turn their attention else where. “Now auntie Saya is tired and she needs to catch up with her Chevalier.” They met Haji’s eyes but they blushed and stared at the floor when he gave them a faint smile. “And no more chasing around Katsu you can not make every one your Chevalier they have to be the right person. You both can’t have him you know.” “Ok, ok, Haji san we’ll wait till he’s older that way…” “Oi that’s enough out of you two honestly I don’t know where you get these crazy idea’s for goodness sakes your only four” “ohh Hana I just thought what about Haji san!” “No Aya that’s wrong Haji is our ojisan and besides he loves auntie Saya.” Haji bent down once more and said. “Don’t worry about it you have plenty of time to find the right person.” Then he whispered. “I hear that Mou is having a boy next month little Ichiro. Just wait a while.” “Haji?” “hmm” he looked up at her. She was almost crying “I was.. going to say,” she shifted uncomfortably. “That, you would be a wonderful father.” Her eyes darted to the floor then back to him pleading for forgiveness. “But, you.. you were and you knew you were so close like a brother or even a father..” she paused for a short moment before finishing. “You even taught him to play.. you were suppose to be their father.” He rose to meet her with a strong embrace. “Saya I never meant for Riku.. he was the only person besides you that I ever felt close to. I knew he cared for you maybe even as much as I. I wanted him to protect you to watch over you as I have all of these years and I am deeply sorry that I may have pushed you harder to give him your blood.” “Haji we can not change the past but answer me Haji. Did you want to be their father?” “I would do anything for you Saya and I always will.” “Haji did you want to be their father?” she perused “Saya the only children I have ever wanted to father are yours Saya however that is not possible. I could never go against your wish.” “Haji.. our own..” “Saya if you want children I will find a way.” “But Haji I only want children if they are our children.” He held her tighter. “Saya I want that too but are these two not our children too?” “Haji?” “Riku’s blood was your blood and your blood also flows through me. We may not ever conceive children of our own but we can take care of these beautiful girls as our own for we are the last of our kind.” “Yes Haji we must I will not allow them to become like Diva and I. it is our mission to raise them as our own.” “I will be with you through it all.” He grasped her hand in his own. The twins then lost all of their enthusiasm for the conversation as Katsu ran from his hiding place under one of the tables in to the next room her legs collapsed under her but Haji caught her holding her close. “Haji.. I feel dizzy” “our cooler is full Julia came yesterday.” “no.. time..” she gulped. “then take mine I have done it loads of times when the hospital was low and the twins were in need” “Saya you must feed. only Chevalier blood can help you in your current state. I will be fine” He pleaded with her. Haji opened his collar once more. She struggled to sit up and reach the bare spot but she was too weak so Haji lifted her to rest on his shoulder. She pierced his skin being careful not to take too much. “Saya do not worry.” She was still reluctant but he held her tighter and kissed his neck. At this Kai left the room. This was not something he should meddle with they had to work this out by themselves. He could sense the fire building in her eyes. “Saya, Saya!” he yelled as he felt her begin to loose control. She tore the cloth on his back and violently scratched his skin. He held her at a distance as she became wild, her eyes looking confused and enraged. “Saya what’s wrong? Have I awakened you too soon?” she only growled like a trapped lion. “Saya!” she overpowered him tackling him on the cold floor. He punched her stomach hard to knock her unconscious. “Saya!” came his cry as he burst in to the room. “Haji what’s the matter with her?” he looked down at the still body in his arms. “she has awakened.”
