Anger

He wanted to scream it out. Sort of. That was probably why he didn’t, because he only sort of wanted to. He wished Kaku would come by so he could kick his ass again, but that was an even more useless thought.

He took a deep breath, emptying his mind to the best of his ability. Tonight wasn’t a good night though, anger was still coursing through him, making him sneer wordlessly without even someone to direct it at.

Sharp eyes surveyed the empty area around him. He was on some rooftop in the city, far enough away from dock 1 where they were housed, that he wouldn’t be disturbed. Stars were shining above him, as was the moon, pale, almost blue. Goose bumps covered his arms and naked torso, but he was certain that he would not be cold for long. That was why he had chosen this specific rooftop. It was large enough and without anything to get in his way.

Another deep breath before he started moving; slowly, for him, at first before going faster and faster in complicated moves designed to help agility, flexibility and strength. Of course since he had no weights on him that last part seemed pretty moot, but either way the motions helped getting rid of the excess energy his anger brought with it.

He couldn’t believe they had been so ready to dismiss Luffy’s feelings. He couldn’t believe that Luffy himself had been so ready to dismiss his own feelings and forgive Usopp just like that, couldn’t believe they had all been so ready to… He jumped into the air, landed on his hands, spun 180 degrees before pushing off and landing on his feet again, paused for the time it took to inhale and exhale before he was off again. Moves and breath perfectly timed together once again.

How could they just forget that Luffy had been… That Usopp had betrayed Luffy’s trust? Luffy had been crying. Luffy deserved so much better. And at the first sign that Usopp might regret something they were all rushing to get him back? How could they be so blind?!

The relief he had felt when Luffy had seen reason had only relieved his anger a little.

Still, he hoped Usopp had a damn good apology ready. Or rather he hoped Usopp would be prepared to apologise properly, because he wasn’t sure if he could trust the kid if it wasn’t heartfelt. It was probably better that Usopp didn’t have anything prepared. That would mean it came from the heart, not his brain. Yes, that would be best.

After all Usopp understood Luffy on a whole other level than he himself did. They were like-minded in their childish antics the same way he and Luffy were like-minded as warriors. Usopp was an important part of their crew. Or had been. Whatever.

Still moving, his breath and the sound of his feet or hands slapping naked against the roof was the only sounds as he allowed his mind to wander. This wasn’t training, so it was okay to slack on discipline.

Still, Nami was also a problem.

How could the woman not understand that a betrayal of the magnitude Usopp had pulled off couldn’t just be forgiven? Even Chopper had silently consented to his reasoning. Nami had just kept on bugging him about the way he had made his point as though that mattered! So what if it had scared her when he had threatened to leave the ship? He had been making a point, not actually said he would leave. Proving that there would have to be consequences to leaving the crew had been way more important than her tender feelings. If there were no consequences then any of them could eventually decide to leave on a whim.

No matter how strong he was that would eventually destroy their captain and Zoro didn’t think he would be able to handle seeing Luffy of all people destroyed like that.

It must be a woman thing. The whole "forgive and forget" although... Nami wasn't the time to forget anything.

He stopped once again to smooth his breath. He was getting upset again, and he had just managed to calm down a little before. No. He would not let anyone hurt Luffy on a whim. Ever.

Then again Nami wasn't the type to forget that easily. Probably she would take Usopp back and if anything happened again her anger would be a hundred times the worse for repeated offense. Didn't the witc understand they had to truly forgive and forget? All of them? It was damn important that they could trust each other when all of them were cooped up on a ship out in the middle of the ocean. Any sort of mistrust would be disastrous.

He gritted his teeth really seriously wondering if he should go find a bar and start a fight. No, there was no point. He wouldn’t let anyone hurt his captain and that was that.

He huffed, somewhat pleased with his resolve before he returned to dock 1 to get some sleep.

“Hi Zoro.”

“Luffy? What are you doing still up?”

“I just wanted to say thanks.”

“For what?”

“For earlier of course!”
