I don't own Weiss, if I did Schwarz would have gotten more airtime. Make no cash flow.
Go!
Fox
A sardonic grin flirted with soft, rose colored lips as the person checked their reflection in the full length mirror. Everything was perfect, naturally. From the gorgeous emerald green gown that emphasized a narrow waist and excellent behind to the silver strap stilettos that made long legs look even longer, nothing was out of place. The final piece to go in place was the wide pearl and emerald choker necklace. Smiling and blowing a kiss to the reflection, the thief known as the Fox walked out of the hotel room, heading to the party at one of the largest estates in Malta.
Crawford was mind numbingly bored. Parties like this were always excruciating to maneuver in. For one thing, Farfarello hardly blended with this crowd. Bikers, absoluely, bankers, no chance. Then there was Nagi, who looked as young as he was even though the boy had seen more in his short lifetime than these fatcats had in more than three times the life span. That left the bulk of the schmoozing up to him.
He was cursing his curiosity about the Fox for the thousandth time that night. If it hadn\'t been for that insatiable bit of wondering about the person who\'d so boldly robbed the Demonsini family he would have been at the penthouse comfortably sipping good cognac and relaxing with Tolstoy. He frowned a little as the hair on the back of his neck suddenly stood up. He turned and spotted the elder Demonsini heading toward him. He sighed heavily. The man was marvelous at what he did, ruthless and completely vicious to the point the rest of the bosses in the organization gave him a wide berth. But he didn\'t have the sense to back off of another predator. Especially one he couldn\'t control.
“Bradley! How good to see you again,” Gian Carlo said, the huge smile not quite reaching his eyes.
Crawford took a step backward when it looked as though the other man might greet him in the traditional fashion.
“Ah, yes. You Americans. So hands off. Ah well. I take it you\'re working on that little aggravation that happened with my son.
“I can neither confirm nor deny that, Gian Carlo,” Crawford said, shifting his drink in his hand.
Gian Carlo sighed heavily. “My son is a good boy. But he has no head for business,” he said, putting an arm around Crawford\'s shoulders, making him tense. “If I could only tie a certain young man down to my daughter, the family business would be in good hands.”
Crawford opened his mouth, about to again say he had no interest in marrying into the family when he felt someone slide up beside him and put an arm through his.
“There your are! I\'ve been looking all over for you,” the person next to him said. Crawford glanced over to find the most beautiful woman he\'d ever seen in his life clinging to his arm. Since she\'d done him a favor, he played along.
“So sorry, darling. You looked as though you were having a good time chatting with that other person so I wandered over here.”
“Tsk! Leave me to the wolves in here. I should be mad at you for that,” she said, pouting a little.
Gian Carlo looked extremely put out. “Bradley, why don\'t you introduce me to your lovely companion.”
The woman held out her hand as though expecting it to be kissed, which is was. “Evelyn Renard, Brad\'s fiancée,” she said, flashing a truly spectacular diamond at the mob boss.
“Bradley, you should have told me you were engaged,” Gian Carlo said, trying to sound joyful though anyone could tell he was far from happy about the news.
“It was rather sudden,” he said, glancing down at the stunning redhead next to him. Now, this could be interesting.
“Oh, yes it was!” Evelyn said. “I saw Brad across the room and thought \'I\'ve just got to have that one.\' So, I ambushed him at an opportune moment.”
Crawford laughed. He could like this person.
“Sorry to take him away from you but he said he\'d dance with me,” Evelyn said, already pulling him toward the dance floor. She waved at Gian Carlo over one shoulder before turning to grin up at Crawford. “A dance is the least you can do since I rescued you.”
“True enough. Did I look that desperate?” Crawford said, swinging her into the steps of the dance.
“No. But you felt like you were going to explode. You have a nasty temper Herr Crawford.”
“And you make a lovely woman even though you\'re not,” he said, twirling his dance partner around.
