Chapter 2 - fin

A/N: and here you have the second (last) chapter well, in this chapter is a mix of drama/romance(a bit)/angst/humor...hope you\'ll like it Warnings: yaoi, language, forceful L, slightly crazy Light. I warned you, so please, don\'t complain later. Not Beta-ed.

*blah* - English speech

...

The next time Light became aware of his head buzzing with a dull headache happened hours later after departing from Japan. He took a few deep breaths, trying to reign in his anger at the memory of his father drugging him and leaving at Ryuzaki\'s mercy. Such lovely parents he had. Hadn\'t they missed him at all like they were supposed to? Or had they been afraid that he carried some incurable B-disease? Well, sure there was some damage control to do, but he had managed it himself, without any help from family or his stalker number two. Who, as Light noticed, was invading his personal bubble at the moment. Wait a second...was he really that close?

"AAAAAAAAAARHG!"

Light screamed in surprise and tried to move away, only to find it an impossible task to do, for he was strapped to the seat. Option number two - resort to glaring and insulting. Not that he needed to choose his options: with Ryuzaki around it came naturally. Thankfully, the dark-haired man drew away to give Light some air to breathe.

"Shit! What the hell were you doing? Don\'t you know the meaning of personal space?"

Wide bottomless eyes just blinked.

"I don\'t believe in such meaningless matters."

"Ah yes, I forgot for a second here that you are a stalker. So of course a term \'personal space\' would hold no meaning for your demented self."

"Is Light-kun always this mean to his friends?"

"To friends - no, to stalkers - yes."

Ryuzaki gave a small pout. Young Yagami decided not to mention that he, in fact, had no friends.

"Light-kun doesn\'t like me for some unfathomable reason. I believe I have done nothing to offend him."

Amber eyes rolled in annoyance.

"Light-kun doesn\'t like you because you are a freaking stalker with no social skills whatsoever."

"There is no need to point out my weak spot. Not everybody is perfect."

The young Yagami stared at his new \'caretaker\' (He was 18, for crying out loud! He didn\'t need anyone to look after him!) for a few moments. Ryuzaki simply stared back, bringing a thumb to his lower lip.

"Do you want to say that I have to tolerate you harassing me?"

"I am not harassing anyone. I just find you very interesting and attractive."

"Yes, you are. Many do, Ryuzaki. You can count Beyond Birthday in. If my memory serves me right, he followed me for almost four weeks. And look how it turned out."

"How did Light-kun realize B was after him?"

"When such a crazy person like him has his eyes on you, you just feel it. I realized it was him the moment I saw him. That dangerous vibe he gave off is hard to forget or ignore."

"Light-kun has impeccable senses."

Ryuzaki noticed the strange look the auburn-haired man gave him.

"He said the same. Word for fucking word." Then Light sobered up. "What is this plane? A jet?"

"Yes, my personal. We are on our way to England."

"I see. If you are a private investigator then I\'m your long lost twin."

"Really?"

"No, you jerk! It\'s just highly doubtful that a detective can afford to have a private plane. What\'s wrong with you anyway?"

"Does Light-kun think I am not in my right state of mind?"

"Just forget it!" Seriously, the man was getting on his nerves too much. Those black eyes held such an innocent look that it screamed \'fake\'. Then, something clicked in his brain.

"Ryuzaki, Beyond said he knew you. Explain."

"He knows of my persona because," suddenly, the pale face was right into Light\'s, ghoul eyes drilling holes in him. "I am L."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Light-kun..."

"..."

"Light-kun, are you alright?"

"..."

"Would you like a glass of water perhaps?"

"..."

"Um.."

"NO! NonononononononoNOOOO! Let me go! I will jump off this plane right away!"

"But then Light-kun will die."

"EXACTLY! That\'s all I wish for! To be handed from one criminal to another! WHY? What have I done to deserve it!"

"Li-..."

"Is it my face, body, brain? Oh for the love of...How I wish I was born ugly and retarded, so all of you demented bastards would just leave me alone!"

While in his rant Light never saw Ryuzaki, or as he was known as L now, take out a bottle of chloroform and pour a needed amount on a cloth.

"I want to kill you all with my bare hands and get the world rid of your evil minds! But the first thing I need is a plastic surgeon! Yes! It\'ll be the..."

\'Fucking chloroform...I hate this stuff...fucking B, L and the whole alpha..bet...\'

L looked sadly at the unconscious boy. Poor guy undergone too much stress and was on his merry way to a mental breakdown. A pale hand brushed away the soft longish fringe and firm lips placed a kiss on the lightly tanned forehead. Slouched body got off of the plane seat and directed its steps towards the pilot cabin. Seeing as Watari had no problems managing the plane alone, L just plopped into the second pilot\'s seat and crouched there in the typical for him position.

"How is Yagami-kun doing?"

"He is asleep."

"I presume you forced him?"

"I took the liberty of postponing the mental breakdown that was sure to happen... I told him."

"Oh, how did he take it?"

"Chloroform."

"I see. It seems he didn\'t take it well then."

"If jumping off the plane happened to be Light-kun\'s first reaction, then yes, he did not take it well."

The elderly man sighed.

"Maybe you should have let him stay in Japan with his family."

"You know me, Watari - I am selfish and not very patient. We have wasted two months already."

"Of course, you always get what you want. By any means necessary."

"Exactly. Have you informed the others of our arrival?"

"Yes. Yagami-kun\'s room is already prepared."

L deemed it satisfying enough. The rest of the trip went in silence.

...

Light welcomed the chloroform-induced headache and dizziness. Not. Tenderly he opened the amber eyes only to find himself in a car. A limo, if the length of the salon was anything to go by. Even an idiot would see that without using the awesome deduction skills the young Yagami possessed. He took a few deep breaths and turned to the side where he figured Ryuzaki would be sitting. No, he had to remind himself, this man was L. A person the police couldn\'t find and the one that broke into so many heavy guarded databases all over the world. Yup, he was right. L sat beside him, in the usual crouched position. But what fried Light\'s nerves was that the man had his eyes on him again.

"Stop staring at me."

The impassive expression on the criminal\'s face never changed. Light wondered if it was physically possible for it to change.

"Light-kun is in my care now, so it is only natural for me to watch him."

"But you don\'t have to stare at me. I assume the doors in the car are locked?"

"It was done to ensure Light-kun\'s safety. I can\'t have him jumping out as he wished to do on the plane."

"Tch. Shit, dad is going to flip if he ever finds out who you really are."

"Assuming Beyond Birthday had not told him before the execution."

Light regarded his..yes, captive, with a plain face.

"Was it the reason you wanted to get me before the execution?"

"Partially, yes. I have also wasted an unnecessary amount of time in Japan."

"You could have just left me there and went back here to do whatever it is that you do! I don\'t want to be somewhere in England. Much less with you!"

L chewed on his thumb before answering.

"I still fail to understand why Light-kun finds me so repulsive. Could you enlighten me?"

The auburn-haired man sighed. Was it really that difficult to understand? Or was this man simply stubborn and arrogant to boot?

"Ryuzaki, L, you are a criminal. You stalked me. You lied to me and my father about your identity and the \'taking care\' crap. I don\'t like you, your face, hair and posture; even the toes on your feet, that for some strange reason have no socks or shoes on them. Is it enough for your creepy mind to understand? You make me want to pluck my eyes out and get rid of my eardrums - that\'s how much I like you."

"Light-kun uses a very colorful language to express his dislike. I would prefer if his eyes and eardrums stayed intact though. Otherwise Light-kun will be a very boring company."

"I don\'t want to be your company!"

The car suddenly stopped. It made Light wonder how long he was out and if such amount of sedative influenced his brain cells. The door at his side opened and the auburn-haired man was met with a pleasant aged face. The elderly man smiled slightly.

"Welcome to England, Yagami-kun. I believe we weren\'t introduced to each other. My name is Quillsh Wammy, but you may call me Watari."

Light gave the man a polite nod. At least Watari seemed normal.

"Am I to assume you work with Ryuzaki?"

"You can say we are partners in crime."

"...Crime indeed..."

Without any further ado Light climbed out of the limo and stared at the house in front of him. He wouldn\'t be exaggerating if he called it a mansion, for it definitely was it. An old styled grand mansion, even with a clock tower placed on top of one of the wings. The building was also surrounded by a stylish black fence and a plate at the entrance \'The Wammy\'s House\'.

"Ryuzaki, it suspiciously looks like a mental hospital for kids."

"It isn\'t. This is where I reside when not traveling."

"Tell me, had Beyond ever been to this place?"

"We grew up together."

"I see. Then it certainly isn\'t a mental institute. It\'s a place where psychos are raised. I feel SO much safer now."

The sarcasm was almost palpable. While Light was led into the mansion, he wondered why he hadn\'t felt anything every time B\'s name was mentioned. After all, the man abducted him and murdered numerous innocent people right before his eyes. He also would have been raped for sure at a later date. Then why? Was this due to Light getting revenge on the killer? Had his subconsciousness understood that his kidnapper wasn\'t invincible? Or was it just the fact that one maniac didn\'t fear another? For Light could honestly admit to himself - never to anyone else - that deep inside him there lived a maniac. Perhaps, not of B\'s caliber, but nonetheless a maniac.

He never liked people to begin with. He wasn\'t a social creature, though he knew perfectly how to act as one. He wasn\'t sentimental, open or sympathetic. Now thanks to Beyond Birthday something in him snapped, and a part of his small enough humanity died. Damn, he wouldn\'t care if his family would be killed. He never held them in high regard. They were just humans that gave birth to him. Light knew that more often than not his attitude and intelligence made them feel uncomfortable. That just showed how far apart they were. His mother was a useless housewife, and Sayu a stupid teenager. He respected his father, but not enough to feel attached to him. Light happened to be smarter than all of them put together and multiplied by a hundred. And it didn\'t sound conceited in his own mind. It was simply bitter (for them) truth.

A loud multi-voiced shout drew Light back to reality. That\'s when he noticed three persons clinging to L from all sides. They looked a couple of years younger than Yagami himself. Now that they stopped hugging the life out of L, he recognized that all of them were boys: one girly looking blonde boy with two chocolate bars in his hand; funny looking red-head with orange goggles, striped shirt and a cigarette behind his ear; and a seemingly sick white-haired kid in a size too big PJs. That observation made Yagami all the more sure that the house was for serial killer-wannabes. Well, he wasn\'t sure yet if Ryuzaki was a murderer of any sort, but he wouldn\'t put it past the man. Besides, it was glaringly obvious not everything was fine in that messy dark head.

As Light tuned in on the conversation - he sighed at the realization that he had to switch to English - he nearly scowled. Figures, they didn\'t know he could speak their language.

*...is this pretty boy?*

*Doesn\'t look like much to me.*

*Hm. He is not another competition, is he?*

Tired of just standing there and listening to the teens discussing him, Light spoke in Japanese.

"Ryuzaki, I hate to interrupt, but where am I going to stay?"

*A pretty JAPANESE boy, huh...*

*Doesn\'t look like Japanese to me, though.*

*Interesting.*

*What\'s interesting, you little toy-molester?*

*He looks smart.*

*\'Smart\' my ass! Just another \'I\'m too sexy for my shirt\' face. Don\'t tell me we\'ll have to babysit that pompous ass...argh!*

*Calm down, I doubt anyone will trust you with a person, girly leather freak.*

*I\'m gonna punch in your face, Matt! Shut your trap for once, will you!*

Despite feeling above annoyed, Light took care to maintain a blank face. He didn\'t want to talk to the brats. At least, not yet. Finally, L dignified him with an answer.

"Of course, Light-kun. But first, I believe introductions are in order. These are: Mello, Matt and Near. Boys, this is Yagami Light."

Apparently all of them could speak Japanese. While the blonde - Mello - scoffed and Near stayed silent, only Matt tried to be polite enough, greeting with a simple "Yo". Yagami nodded, but still refused to talk to them.

"Follow me, Light-kun. Your luggage is already in the room."

As the two of them ascended a staircase, Yagami decided it would be nice to know what exactly was this place.

"So, who were those brats?"

"They are not brats, Light-kun. They are trained to be my successors. This is a place for orphans with high mental capabilities, like you and I have. Mello, Near and Matt are the oldest ones. We have also groups of younger children, but they live in a different wing, so you won\'t be seeing them."

"Right."

...

The following week was a taxing one for Light\'s mind. Ryuzaki popped up at the most unexpected of times, but otherwise Light was left to his own devices. He felt like a stranger in the mansion. The brats continued talking behind his back and he had to struggle to maintain a blank face at all times. Only in L\'s company could he vent out, which resulted in him lashing out at the man. Not that he felt guilty about it, no. The dark-haired male still claimed to be attracted to Light, thus annoying the hell out of the Yagami. All in all, Light felt out of place, like a human among aliens; or the only sane person among psychos. The latter seemed more likely to be the truth.

It was another late dinner and even L showed his face, for once free from his law-violating activities. Mello covered potatoes with chocolate syrup - which made Light nearly gag; Near stuffed his face with some vegetables and Matt drank soup through a straw, while furiously pushing buttons on PSP, spouting curses from time to time. Ryuzaki, as per usual, tried to inhale five different types of cake, making Light\'s teeth hurt from the pure amount of sugar.

*Sooo, what\'s this pretty boy doing here, anyway?*

*He is just staying with us. Nothing that should be bothering you.*

*Yeah right, like anybody could be brought here just because.*

*Look who\'s talking. Like you\'re here for any other reason... - DIE MOTHERFUCKER! DIE!*

*Shut the hell up, Game-Boy freak! Nobody asked you!*

*I\'LL TEAR YOU APART! - I thought it was an open conversation, girly man.*

*WHAT DID YOU SAY? I DARE YOU TO REPEAT IT!*

*Repeat wha...- HOW DARE YOU SHOOT ME, YOU SON OF A...! - ...that you\'re a girly man?*

*NOW YOU DID IT! PREPARE TO DIE, YOU FRECKLED IDIOT!*

*Hey! Don\'t take it out on my freckles, they\'re cute and innocent!*

*GAAAH! I\'LL MURDER YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!*

*Be quiet, you are disturbing me.*

Mello turned to Near, distaste written all over his face.

*Why you little...*

"Stop it, you are giving Light-kun a headache."

Yagami snorted inwardly. L\'s attempts at being sweet and caring made him laugh in his head. But right at the moment his anger and irritation were getting the best out of him. He could somehow tolerate Near, since the kid stayed silent most of the time. But Matt and especially Mello made his blood-pressure rise.

*What kind of name is it anyway? At this rate, his parents should have just named him Lightbulb or Chandelier.*

Enough was enough.

*Would you shut the fuck up, you underdeveloped transvestite? I can\'t for the life of me understand, why such a bitchy little airhead is even considered to be one of L\'s successors.*

Ah, heavenly silence. At last. It didn\'t matter that three pairs of shocked eyes and one amused pair were drilling holes in him at the moment. The only thing that mattered - silence. While Mello gaped like a fish and Near stared intently at him, Matt laughed, forgetting all about his PSP.

*Respect, man. I like your style! You hit a bulls-eye!*

*I was wondering when Light-kun lashes out. I am deeply impressed that you managed to tolerate it for a whole week.*

*Don\'t tempt me, Ryuzaki. Or I\'ll make you swallow that knife.*

*So mean. Have you had such temper before the incident?*

*Wait, wait, WAIT! What did you call me, pretty boy?* Ah, Mello finally came to his senses. And there went Light\'s hope for a silent evening.

*I am not going to repeat that if you are so slow in the head. Everything you say will come back to bite you in the ass. That being said, could you please be so kind and lower your voice, because my ears are bleeding.*

Matt interrupted the blonde\'s outraged cry.

*Don\'t mind him, M\'s just a blonde.*

Light lifted an elegant eyebrow.

*M?*

*Yep, and Near is N. That is until it\'s decided who\'ll be the next L.*

Yagami groaned in defeat.

"L, M, N, B...are you trying to use the whole alphabet? That is so innovative. Ryuzaki, I hope you are not going to give me one of those demeaning aliases."

*HEY, just wait a second! They\'re not deme-...*

"I haven\'t given it any thought yet, Light-kun. But there is a high possibility."

"I would appreciate it, if you wouldn\'t. I wanted to ask you something. Are you sure that the Mello fairy won\'t turn out to be Beyond number two? He has all inclinations to end up a maniac."

As much as Mello wanted to protest and bash Light\'s head on the table, the mention of B\'s name caught his attention.

"Light-kun, I am quite sure that they have different personalities. Beyond Birthday is one of a kind. I am sure you have noticed that."

The auburn-haired man noticed how L tensed slightly when it came to his previous captor. Was he mad because the man got him before L could? Oh, he could work with that. Suppressing a slightly manic laughter, Light remained passive and continued in Japanese, not caring much that the others understood the language perfectly well.

"I am still mad at you and dad that you didn\'t let me see his execution."

"It was for your own good."

"You are just annoyed that he got to me first."

"Light-kun can read me well. But aside from that, he was a very dangerous man. He could have triggered a violent reaction from you."

*Woah! Hold your horses! Light, dude, you have met B? Like, the Beyond Birthday?*

Even Near\'s usually apathetic face looked interested, while Mello just watched Yagami with wide eyes as Matt fired questions.

*Oh yes, we were pretty close for over a month. Was it 40 days, Ryuzaki?*

*Yes. Light-kun was abducted by him.*

*Shit, man. And you survived and still sane?*

*He didn\'t want to kill me, in fact, he happened to be attracted to me. Though I would much prefer to have never met him.*

*Damn! What did he do to you?*

*If you mean rape, then no, he didn\'t do anything of the sexual sense. But yes, he tried to be affectionate. Other than that, do you want me to tell you how he dismembered people in front of my eyes? The methods he used? How their innards looked? How he laughed while indulging in this...ah, yes...he called it hobby? How they cried and screamed? How their eyes nearly popped out of the sockets?*

By the end of his little tirade, his face sported a malicious dark smile and amber eyes turned to glowing rubies, while memories flashed in his mind rapidly. L straightened his back, ready to use force if Light turned violent. Matt and Mello looked shaken at the disturbing picture that their guest represented. Near curled into a tighter ball and hugged a toy soldier to his chest. While the three of them were in training and prepared for any kinds of situations, having a somewhat mad person before your eyes was a new experience. The blonde shuddered.

*Fuck, it seems that he would be the next B. Just look at his eyes. They don\'t belong to a sane man.*

L put a hand on a jacket covered shoulder and squeezed, applying a little force.

"Light-kun?"

"I am fine, Ryuzaki. Though I could have been better if you left me in Japan instead of kidnapping me."

"But I have Yagami-san\'s consent."

"Yeah when he didn\'t know who you really were. Nice, L, very nice."

"Ah but I think personal qualities are more important than one\'s occupation. Don\'t you agree?"

"Usually, yes. But in your case both...occupation and personal qualities are highly doubtful."

The slight banter that Light became used to, somehow calmed his mind. The change from normal to manic wasn\'t very obvious in his own head, but he saw the reactions of the guys around the table. Not that it disturbed him, but he preferred not to face unnecessary complications. Sure, such behavior might disturb L and he would send him back to Japan. Though the most rational part of his mind knew that the chances of that happening were non-existent.

"Light-kun\'s perception of me is insulting. I believe I did nothing to offend you and never breached you personal boundaries."

Young Yagami heard a strain in L\'s voice. So the man wasn\'t taking well Light being offensive all the time and his patience was wearing thin. That...well, the auburn-haired man didn\'t know if it spelled trouble for him or not. Though nothing good for sure.

*HA! L, are you coming onto the Japanese ass?*

*Mello, it\'s none of your business what L does.*

*But Near, the girlie here is right. I guess we have a right to know if he\'s gay.*

*WHAT? L is gay?*

Near gave his competitor a pointed look, while Matt groaned at the stupidity that by all laws of nature should have never been displayed by such an intelligent guy.

*Mello, my dear chocolate-obsessed friend, you implied it yourself when you asked if L was coming onto Light. Besides, he might be bisexual or just like Light.*

L, despite his nonchalant appearance, felt irritation stirring inside. He loved the kids, they were the only family he had, but they never knew when to hold their mouths shut. He had enough problems with Light, so their nosiness was the last thing he needed at the moment. He was by no means a patient man, and heavens knew he tried his best to keep his emotions in check. But with the constant verbal assault from the gorgeous man and inquisitive questions from the three supposed geniuses he felt it wasn\'t long before he snapped.

*Mello, Matt, I will say it only once for the sake of preventing any unnecessary questions in the future. Yes, I am a homosexual and have feelings for Light Yagami. Now this conversation is over.*

The auburn-haired man watched with some amusement how the three brats noticeably flinched at the slightly sharper tone in Ryuzaki\'s voice. Apparently, it was new to them. Though what did annoy Light was a heated glare from Mello, laced with a bit of jealousy. Okaaay, that promised nothing good. Who knew the teen was obsessed not only with chocolate but with L too?

...

Two weeks later Light still felt uncomfortable in the Wammy\'s house. The brats added to that too. Matt behaved normally, for him at least, and tried to occasionally exchange a few words with Yagami. Near\'s presence was like that of a child-ghost: almost floating in the pale PJs from place to place with toys in his hands at all times. The biggest problem was Mello. The blonde, thankfully, didn\'t talk to him, but instead threw sharp hateful glares at Light, as if the auburn-haired man stole something vital from him. Silently, Light considered an option of Mello killing him in his sleep. One never knew what to expect in a house full of criminals-to-be.

L, on the other hand, made his presence scarce and it felt like the man tried to ignore him.

\'What was the point in bringing me here if he doesn\'t need me?\'

It all made Light feel useless and somewhat lonely. Back in Japan he had University and sometimes cases his father worked on to occupy his time with. Now, online studies took much less time and he had no idea what to do with himself. He read, he jogged, he took some physical training since there was such an opportunity in the mansion, but it still left too much free time on his hands. He was almost ready to help L with his illegal activities, just to rid himself from boredom. Though only almost.

Could it really be L\'s goal to drive him to a point where he would do anything? Or was he just busy with \'work\'? What was this man trying to pull?

And the saddest part - in his... confinement, yes, that was the right word, Light couldn\'t do anything without Ryuzaki. Damn, that psycho could at least take him some place else in England just for the change in surroundings. Light was not L - sitting in the same house for three weeks with only being allowed out of the house to the adjoining garden. He needed some information to feed to his brain, otherwise he\'d just rot.

...

Two more weeks later Light was almost howling at the moon or any other source of, well, light. He almost felt like being kidnapped by Beyond was a blessing: the man tried to entertain him, after all. No matter how sick the entertaining program was. Mello still glared at him with all the power of a nuclear bomb and the auburn-haired man nearly anticipated being strangled to death, no matter how much he valued his life. That just showed how bored out of his mind he became. If he had any money and documents on him, he would surely try to go back to Japan or at least far away to keep a low profile and wait for his father or SOMEONE to take him back. Going to the police, if he ever managed to get out, was out of the question since L happened to be number one in breaking into any database. Given the man\'s intelligence he would know where to look.

Matt and Near ignored him - thank heavens for that - because for the former he wasn\'t entertaining enough and for the latter not interesting to a point where the boy had to make an effort to open his mouth and say something. Damn the brats; damn L; damn the alphabet and the whole fucking world!

Light wondered if he was losing it or just becoming emo. Also he questioned the usefulness of his precious little brain cells. After not being used to their fullest for such a long time they would surely just dry out. Did L seriously want to keep a brainless person?

...

Light woke up to the feeling of being watched. Well, fuck. How repetitive could that get? Blinking sleep from the amber eyes, he tried to identify the source of his discomfort. And nearly screamed. L sat there in the darkness of the room, black hair blending with everything around him. The only reason Light knew where the criminal\'s eyes were was because of the pale skin that shone in the moonlight. Not that oooh-so-pretty-and-seductive type of shine, but a ghostly one that freaks you out. There on the deathly pale skin sat two black holes that should be called eyes.

With the lack of illumination L would be easy to confuse with Beyond if not for the vibes he gave off. While the maniac made one shiver because of the weight of bloodlust he radiated, Ryuzaki made one squirm under the heavy unblinking stare, that spoke a little of curiosity and danger. Not of the extreme menace. Though the faint feeling of \'you don\'t want to anger me\' Light got from L didn\'t stop the young Yagami from lashing out at his captor.

"What the hell are you doing in my room, Ryuzaki? Not to mention on my bed?"

That got him no answers.

"L, get out of the room! NOW!"

Okaaay, that made Light feel uneasy. More than he already was anyway. The man gave him no answer, he didn\'t blink, didn\'t move. If Light\'s ears didn\'t catch a slight sound of Ryuzaki breathing, he would have thought the man to be dead. But, sadly, no. His captor was alive, though perhaps not so well. Why would he imitate a statue otherwise?

"Oh for the love of...Ryuzaki, L! Did you fall asleep with your eyes open? Stop that, you\'re being a creep and I won\'t be able to sleep after that."

That got him no response too. Well, playing dirty would it be then.

"You\'re reminding me too much of Beyond like that. Actually, I think it\'s Beyond Birthday sitting here. I see, came to rape me after his death. Now, tha~..."

"Shut up, Light."

The auburn-haired man blinked. That was NOT something he wanted to hear. L never talked to him like that and always addressed him in a japanese manner.

"Well, well...so you\'re not dead after all, Ryuzaki. I started to worry for a moment that I\'ll have to explain how I got a corpse on my bed. What are you doing here?"

"Tell me, Light, is it always only shit coming out of your mouth?"

If Yagami had to guess, he\'d say that L reached the end of his rope- something that did NOT bode well for auburn-haired man. Despite that, Light was Light - very smart, arrogant and stubborn.

"No, but I try my best for you. And don\'t tell me you didn\'t deserve it. If your messy genius head refuses to believe it, you should go and consult a psychologist. I\'m sure it\'ll help to see things in a new light. Trust me, you\'ll feel better after that."

L snorted. Again, something Light never heard him do. Well, damn it all, a night full of surprises! Was it his birthday or something? Though with the way things progressed, most likely Halloween came early.

"Yes, I agree that my methods weren\'t...legal and you have the full right to be mad at me. But, Light, I can see you are going crazy without anything to do here. You can accept my advances and work with me or stay as you are and let your mind rot. Either way I am not letting you go. In the end, you will be mine whether you want it or not."

Light sneered at the man sitting on his bed.

"Wonderful news. Nice to hear I have a choice in the matter. I always knew you had it in you, L, to behave like an almighty criminal: forcing on me a relationship I DON\'T want. I am not gay and even if I was I would never turn to you on my quest for some romantic shit. Get real, you are not the Navel of the Earth and the world doesn\'t revolve around you. Yes, I am held here against my will and at your mercy, but I will not succumb to your every whim."

"I am not a tolerant person and I always get what I want. So I am not sure how long I will wait. You should remember that you are in my house and I will find you no matter where you try to hide."

"That\'s a nice revelation. I\'m glad I wasn\'t mistaken. Oh and you might want to keep your mad dog Mello on a shorter leash or he\'ll bite some time soon."

Without another word L left the room. Needless to say that Light couldn\'t sleep for the rest of the night.

...

The next day the young Yagami found out how serious his captor was about breaking him. The access to the online University studies had been closed as was his way out of the house. He was also not allowed into the training room. Even all the books were out of his reach now. Well, a rotting mind it would be then.

While Matt and Near behaved the same as per usual, Mello\'s glare burned hotter than before. What could be above nuclear bomb? Surface of the sun? As Light pondered on that, the blonde stomped towards him and hissed.

*Kitchen. Now.*

Deciding to humor the teen and having nothing better to do, the auburn-haired man followed. Ouch the sun burned. He seriously thought he would turn to ashes under Mello\'s powered up glare of death.

*What do you want?*

*Stay away from L!*

Light smirked nastily. The teen had a one-track mind when it came to his beloved idol. Finally he had someone to play with for a while.

*What do you mean?*

*You know perfectly well what I mean, you asshole.*

*Now, don\'t insult your elders. Show some respect, will you.*

*What respect? I hate you! I\'ll say this once again - stay the fuck away from L!*

*So your beloved L talked to you today, huh? Before you open your mouth again, let me tell you something, fairy. I don\'t like/need/want L. I despise him and his methods. You can have him all to yourself and go hold hands under the rainbow together.*

Light\'s smirk turned darker at Mello\'s confused look. And so it was time to drop that nuclear bomb that for some reason plagued his mind, before the teen could say anything more. Yagami wondered briefly if the blonde would scratch his eyes out for the next words or if he would live at all to see the next morning.

*But then again, L doesn\'t want you in any shape or form, does he?*

It took precisely four seconds for his words to register in Mello\'s mind and with an outraged cry the blonde flung his whole body onto the auburn-haired man. As punches rained down on his torso, surprisingly enough the face was left unharmed, Light simply let out that menacing manic laugh which he acquired after meeting Beyond Birthday. Despite the pain - and boy, did Mello hit hard - it felt nice to let all frustrations and anger out.

The blonde\'s face paled the longer he worked with his fists, because instead of crying Light laughed and it unsettled the teen, it felt very wrong. It didn\'t make him angrier, no; it made him scared. Mello saw pictures and videos of B and results of his actions. The sound coming out of Light\'s mouth reminded him of that maniac. Only it felt more dangerous, because he had no idea what this man was capable of.

By the time Matt and L rushed into the kitchen Mello simply stood beside Light and watched as his laugh died in the tanned throat. L accessed the situation in a matter of a second and bent down to pull the object of his affections up on his feet. Light ignored help and with difficulty raised himself up. He knew for sure he\'d be in pain later and his whole upper body would be bruised. As he strode past Mello, Yagami directed his ruby-shining orbs at the blonde, making the teen freeze on the spot.

*Watch where you sleep, princess.*

That being said, Light left the kitchen and went up to his room. He couldn\'t say the event from earlier was entertaining, but at least something happened. Did he feel bad for scaring the blonde? Fuck no. If L wanted to keep him in the house without anything to do, he might as well drive the other inhabitants mad or have fun at their expense. He idly wondered if a similar situation gave birth to Beyond Birthday and his tendencies.

...

And so the days dragged on: boring and uneventful. Apparently L advised his successors to keep their distance from Light, so the young man saw them only on rare occasions. One more problem was that he couldn\'t sleep well at nights. Ryuzaki\'s last late-night visit and words made him restless. He didn\'t want to wake up to the feeling of being watched. He had had enough of that. Light knew it was a dangerous affair: only a thin line separated a genius from a madman and the longer he stayed in suspense the bigger were the chances of him going insane. With B\'s previous input that proverbial line only got thinner.

It seemed that L knew that too - of course he knew, since the man happened to be a genius, and a bastard, of a highest degree - because he appeared more often to watch his captive. The heavy stare the Yagami was given each time made the younger of the two want to take a few steps away and escape those dark eyes for they clearly showed L\'s impatience. Ryuzaki would be coming for his ass son - that was a fact. Light wouldn\'t present himself to the other on a silver platter.

...

To sum it up, Yagami Light had been living - or more correctly, had been kept - in the Wammy\'s house for two months. The passed time wasn\'t very kind to his mind, but the auburn-haired man tried to keep it together and not let his personality split or turn unreasonable. Even Light himself noticed that he became more violent and mean with each day. But it was all he could do to clutch his sanity tightly in both hands and refuse to let it go.

That same night a familiar feeling woke him up from a disturbed enough sleep. Light knew all too well what it was and simply glared at the offender. Yeah, just as he thought: L stood at the foot of his bed and stared at him. Damn it all, was he born just to serve as a museum piece? Really, people loved to stare at him, no matter where he went.

"You again?"

"How are you feeling, Light-kun?"

Ah, so Ryuzaki decided to be all nice this time.

"Have been better. So, is it just a social visit or something else?"

The dark bottomless eyes felt more intense than usual.

"I think it would be right of me to assume that neither a simple social visit or any at all can please you."

"I see you finally learned that. Now, since you know that already, there is no point in you being here. Good night and close the door when you leave."

Amber eyes closed and the young man waited for the sound of steps and door closing. When silence remained undisturbed, Light let out an irritated sigh and chose to lash out at the other present in his room, caution be damned.

Black and amber clashed, neither willing to back off from this display of wills. Light was getting tired of these games. He hadn\'t had any proper sleep for a week and his body felt weak and lifeless. He needed some rest NOW! Before he could even open his mouth to tell L in simple words, that even a kindergarden child would understand, where the man should go and die, the other pounced. Fast. The action didn\'t even register in Yagami\'s mind until a moment later, when a pale face hovered mere centimeters above his own. Now, that was way too close. While the brilliant sleep-deprived mind tried to catch up with the situation, two strong lean arms gathered his and tied them to a bedpost. It pretty much meant how serious L was about getting his ass if he came prepared.

"Ryuzaki, what the fuck? Untie me and get out!"

"Tsk, you know I\'m not a patient man, Light-kun, so don\'t be so surprised."

"Have you sunk so low as to resort to rape, you creep?"

L\'s face held a sad expression for a moment before reverting to its impassive self, though Light could see dark and excited undertones lurking just behind the surface.

"Of course I would prefer you willing, but as I told you before you will be mine either way. Or did the fact that I am a criminal slip your mind?"

Suddenly, the full understanding of his predicament hit Light as a bulldozer on full speed. He was going to get raped and he couldn\'t do a damn thing about it. Screaming for help would prove futile as would struggling. Due to the lack of sleep his body was too week and with hands tied even the adrenaline was of no help. There was also a thought in his head that L was right, for once. Why was he so surprised indeed? He knew perfectly well that it would come to this sooner or later.

As the dark-haired man undressed him and forced his mouth open for a deep, tongue-invading kiss, Light had no energy to even feel disgusted. At first, when pale hands started wandering all over his body, he struggled with all he had and spat the worst curses he could think of. L promptly ignored it all and concentrated himself on getting to the bottom of the situation aka auburn-haired man\'s ass. Light had to hold his mouth shut, thus cutting off the stream of expletives, when the pale-skinned man started discovering his pleasure spots one by one, otherwise he would let out embarrassing noises that he didn\'t want the other to hear.

As night progressed, L took his captive again and again and again. Somewhere amidst this whole process Light passed out of exhaustion. BUt before that a single thought wiggled into his mind: perhaps it was better than doing nothing day after damn day.

...

Six months later.

"And whose fault do you think it is?"

"But Light-kun, it is impossible to keep hands to myself when you are sitting so close. Besides, I know you love it."

"What put that absurd thought into your mind?"

"Light-kun of course. Your loud moans give me no reason to doubt my conclusion."

L watched as the man he loved stuck his nose in the air and set his mind on ignoring his partner. Yes, partner. It took a few months and a lot of talking and sex, to convince Light to team up with him. But it was really worth it. Bantering turned into their normal type of conversing with each other and he could see that the auburn-haired man warmed up to him as time passed. They had a long way to go before Yagami would fall in love with him, but the contempt the younger man felt for him slowly dissipated and turned to \'like\'. Even though L had yet to hear that from Light\'s mouth he could see and feel it.

Light still had his insane moments, when amber eyes turned ruby and his laugh scared people shitless. It was something that wouldn\'t go away, because those who survived Beyond Birthday\'s forceful company changed only to remain this way for the rest of their lives. In the end, the auburn-haired man killed all of L\'s attempts at giving him an \'alphabetic\' alias and chose one himself. Kira - a japanese transliteration of an english word \'killer\'. Because Light promised that one day he would be L\'s killer.

The dark-haired man smirked: the only way for Light to kill him was with too much love. He knew that, given some time, Yagami Light would fall for him. Simply because L was L and always got what he wanted, no matter the cost.

A/N: there, the end of the story. I hope you are not disappointed!
