Darkness Kiss

A/N: I know Mu is a little out of character, but this is a younger and more stubborn Mu, at least in this chapter. Plus I couldn't have him just go along with it, because what kind of story would that be?

It wasn't long before Ikki had dragged Shaka off and Dohko left to locate Shiryu. It left Mu sitting on one of the beds, just staring at Shion. "Well, now that we are alone, I think it would be okay for us to talk." Shion said softly as he walked over and sat next to his younger brother. "You know, Dohko really isn't a bad guy, he just wants those he cares about to be happy."

"Yeah, at someone elses expense." Mu shook his head and closed his eyes, giving a soft sigh. "How did you even end up here in the first place?"

"Well, we have to start back when I first started out on my journey. You remember, it must have been 5 or so years ago." Shion said thoughtfully, time didn't matter much to vampires so he rarely kept track of it.

"Its been 13 years Shion. I was 7 when you left, and I'm 20 now." Mu replied drawing his knees up to his chest and giving a sigh. Closing his eyes a little Mu tried to hold back the mixture of emotions he felt. "I've been worried all this time, but I knew some way, some how you were going to be alive. I just didn't think..."

"I found love, what can you expect? Another vampire clan that Dohko originally belonged to, the tiger clan, had captured me. They planned on using me as a slave for the two things vampires enjoy most. Blood and sex." Shion sighed a little shaking his head at the memory.

"It was the morning before he was supposed to be used for the first time by the clan leader that I found him. He was scared and starving. I knew I had to get Shion away from them. It was that night we managed to slip out just as the sun set, before the majority of the vampires were awake. He asked what he could do to repay me, and I told him that I wanted to start a clan. If he could be my companion and help me, then I would protect him. Our relationship just kind of escalated from there." Dohko had come in with a man with long black hair trailing him. Mu, who was about to speak, fell silent, staring at Shiryu.

"Yes, this is Shiryu, he's a boy Dohko and I have adopted. I think you two will get along well." Shion smiled a little placing a hand on Mu's shoulder gently. "I really look forward to spending time with you when Shiryu's training with Dohko. Now if he does anything at all to hurt you, you let me know, I won't let anyone get away with that." He whispered in Mu's ear as he held him tightly in a hug before getting up.

"I would like to get him back to my room if its alright." Shiryu said softly looking from Dohko to Mu and Shion. Shion nodded talking Dohko's hand and walking off. Mu continued to sit on the bed staring Shiryu down, a glare on his face. Sure the young vampire was a handsome man, but he wasn't going to be trusting him. "Will you come on? I don't want to have to carry you or something." Shiryu replied crossing his arms as Mu begrudgingly got up from his seat on the cot and began to walk towards Shiryu.

"Do not assume that I will trust you." Mu said softly still glaring at Shiryu as he was lead back to Shiryu's room, the dark haired vampire keeping a firm hold on Mu's wrist the whole time they walked. "Because if you do, you are wrong."

"Will you stop resisting? This would be so much simpler if you would simply stop fighting everything and go with it." Shiryu turned and caught Mu's hand as the other swung at him with his free arm. "I suppose there is no way around this then."

Mu cried out rather indignantly as he was picked up by Shiryu who hoisted Mu over his shoulder and began to walk towards his room again. "Put me down! You brute! I demand you stop this this instant!" Mu began to struggle against the firm hold on him.

"Do you mind?" Shiryu looked over as Saga stuck his head out of the door. "I still have mine asleep to stop him from struggling so much and I'd like to keep it that way for a while. Keep it down." Saga growled before shutting his door rather forcefully.

"You heard him, quit whining." Shiryu replied calmly as he walked into a room. "Besides I tried to be nice, and you just lashed out at me." He dropped Mu onto the bed, getting a squeak from the lavender haired man.

"Whatever." Mu crossed his arms before sighing and looking around the room. "So what exactly do you plan to do to me..." Mu said softly as he got up off the bed and walked over to a mirror and began to straighten himself out, being carried had caused his clothing and hair to become disheveled. Shiryu watched completely confused before shaking his head.

"I was hoping you'd be my companion, even though I would feed from you on occasion." He replied with a slight smile on his face. "I won't hurt you though, I promise you that." He replied with a gentle smile as he walked over and picked up a brush. "Sit down."

"Why?" Mu glanced over his shoulder at Shiryu.

"Because I'm going to help you with your hair. I mean I know having hair that long isn't easy to maintain." He replied with a kind smile before Mu took a seat on a chair in front of the mirror and began to brush out Mu's hair. They fell into silence, Mu had forgotten how nice it was to have someone brushing your hair. The last person he'd let near his hair was Shion.

He could still clearly recall each evening when they'd brush each others hair before bed. He always loved running his fingers through Shion's silky locks as he brushed the others hair. "You seem quite pensive." Mu jumped slightly before looking up at Shiryu who was gazing down at him. "Care to share your thoughts?"

"Its nothing, I was just dwelling on a time that is long gone by is all." Mu sighed softly running a hand through his bangs. "Shion mentioned they adopted you, is it true?"

"My family was killed in a bandit attack in a near by village. I ran from the house and wound up lost in the forest. I wandered for a few days before I found Shion walking around in the woods. He was still human at that point. I was resting by the river and he came up and started to talk to me. Then I finally just broke down and told him everything that had happen." Shiryu closed his eyes for a moment remembering what had happened. "He hugged me close and soothed me. Then he said he'd take me somewhere safe. That's how I got here." Shiryu replied as Mu got up.

"I love my brother, and it seems he's changed less than I originally guessed. Its something I'm glad for." Mu said softly before walking over to the bed and sitting on it.

"Its going to be dawn soon. We should get some sleep." Shiryu smiled a little before caressing Mu's cheek gently. "Don't be scared, I don't intend to hurt you. You're Shion's little brother, and Shion is almost a mother to me. So I want you and him to be happy." He gave him a gentle kiss on his forehead and Mu looked up. He was surprised by how tender the gesture was. "Now do you think you could sleep?"

Mu gave a little nod before Shiryu got into bed with Mu. Mu smiled a bit and yawned rolled over. He froze and tensed up as an arm found its way around his waist, and after a few moments relaxed, realizing the hold wasn't going away any time soon. After a while Mu fell asleep, being held by Shiryu. Outside the sun was climbing up in the sky.
