Chap 2 Meeting Zoro and Koby
The first thing Luffy noticed was how terrified people were when he walked through town, was that everyone was terrified of him. 'There acting like they saw a pirate, the marines are meant to keep the people at peace.' Luffy walked to the marine base now more than curious at the actions of the marines here. He saw Zoro tied up and he approached him.
"Hey you can you get me out of here, I'll go out and catch a pirate with a really high bounty…" Zoro said and he coughed his throat was really dry. "What is your crime?" Luffy asked tilting his head up. Zoro looked at the face of the rubber man and he was speechless. "I've heard you're a great swordsman and you have caught pirates who have caused trouble, I see no reason why you have been tied up…"
"It doesn't matter 1 more day of this and the captain's son promised I could go free…" Zoro spoke and that struck a cord in Luffy. "You have been deceived I was ordered to come here for your execution…" Luffy turned to the base. "I will see to this matter you won't be killed…"
Zoro found truth in Luffy's words. The rubber man moved towards the tower and a pink haired boy came running out. "Hold it right there!" Koby stopped seeing the coat. "Oh I'm sorry I thought you were an intruder…" Koby spoke getting worked up into a panic.
"It's ok I need to speak to the man in charge…" Luffy said and Koby tensed up. "You must mean Captain Morgan, he's in his office…" Koby said but couldn't shake his nervousness. Captain Morgan was cruel to anyone who crossed him and ruled the whole island with fear. To Koby he was a disgrace to the name marine but he wasn't strong enough to stop him, and his spoiled son was just as bad.
Koby led Luffy to Morgan's office. Luffy and Koby entered the office and a sword was thrown and was embedded into the wall near Koby's head. "Didn't I tell you I didn't want to be disturbed!" Morgan shouted and Luffy felt great dislike for the man. "Attention Soldier a superior officer has entered the room…" Luffy snapped and Morgan shot out of his chair and saw Luffy. He stood at attention a bit nervous, he knew the boy was higher rank and even the grandson of the hero Garp. 'Damn I should have noticed him sooner…'
"Care to explain why Zoro is being scheduled for execution…?" Luffy asked crossing his arms across his chest. "He challenged my authority sir, he is a violent drunkard who was wielding 3 swords and when asked to hand them over he refused…"
"Is that all, he is a swordsman for a reason…" Luffy spoke. Morgon grit his teeth. "Also I can't help but notice the state of this island, both the people and the marines are acting odd." Morgan's eyes narrowed. "I'm going to go free Zoro, and then I plan on fulfilling a full inspection of this base…"
Luffy left the office with Koby running out of the room. "Where are Zoro's swords?" Luffy asked and Koby took him to the room where Zoro's swords were held. Luffy took them and went to Zoro. "You have been cleared. You are free to go…" Luffy said undoing the bonds. "Why did you help me?"
"I saw that you wanted to live, the look in your eyes they told me your had a reason to live for…" Luffy said and began undoing another bond. "Yeah I do I have a dream of becoming the world's greatest swordsman."
"A dream huh? That's great…" Luffy smiled at him, and Zoro felt his heart beat faster. "You have a dream to don't you…"
"Yeah I do but it doesn't matter…" Luffy said undoing the last bond on Zoro. "What is it?" Zoro asked taking his swords from Luffy.
"I want to be king of the pirates and attain the ultimate freedom!" Luffy said a truly happy smile on his face. Unfortunately Helmeppo heard this and raced off to tell his father. Morgan quickly spread the word to his men.
"You're one crazy bastard I'll give you that." Zoro said and Koby stared in shock. "How can you want to become a pirate? You're such an awesome marine you're the kind of marine I've always dreamed of being…" Koby spoke and Luffy just smiled at him.
"And that's a wonderful dream Koby, and I hope you become a strong marine, but my dream is to attain the ultimate freedom." Luffy said before the sound of footsteps came barreling down on them. They blocked the entrance and Morgan walked through the crowd of marines. "What is the meaning of this?" Luffy snapped.
"Monkey D. Luffy you are being charged with conspiracy, as well as charged with being a pirate. Roronoa Zoro you will be charged as his conspirator that way I can kill two birds with one stone." Morgan said with a sick grin and Helmeppo laughed behind him. Koby snapped at this. "I can't take this anymore, even if Luffy-san wants to be a pirate he's a better marine and a better man than you!" Koby shouted and Morgan snapped in his rage. "You brat die with them all men fire!"
The marines pointed their guns at Koby and Zoro. "Gum Gum Barrier!" Luffy shouted.
(FN: The Gum Gum Barrier is a fusion of Paper Art and Luffy's Devil Fruit power his body becomes paperlike and using his rubber body he can stretch and cover a person's body forming a barrier it is useful against guns and cannon fire but it makes him weaker against blades while using the technique.)
Luffy covered Zoro and Koby the bullets bounced off him and hit the men. "Damn it if bullets won't work take up your swords capture them!" Morgan shouted. Luffy released his technique and Zoro stared at him with shock. "What are you?" Luffy grinned and stretched his mouth. "I'm a Rubber man with a few tricks up his sleeve…" Luffy struck a defensive pose and as swords came down at him. "Tekkai!" Luffy's body hardened and the swords broke when they connected to his body.
Zoro drew his swords and began to fight off the marines. Up on the top of the base two snipers aimed their guns at Zoro. They fired the first shot grazed Zoro's shoulder but nothing serious the second was deflected by his blade. 'Damn it I can't deal with them from this far…' Zoro thought.
Luffy saw the swordsman and knew where the shots came from. "Gum Gum Sniper!"
(FN: Gum Gum Sniper is a fusion of Finger Pistol Shave and Luffy's Devil Fruit power. It Allows Luffy to hit targets from a great distance away at such a high speed it's practically invisible.)
Luffy took out both snipers in a flash and the turned around and punched a charging marine. Luffy turned his glance to Morgan who was smirking like a fiend. Luffy's stare narrowed. "You bastard! Storm Leg!" Luffy kicked sending out a wave Morgan grabbed his son and used him as a shield.
"Damn you coward!" Luffy cursed and ran out Morgan at top speed.
