Chapter 2: The New Girl

               Zoro and Sanji walked around the market.

               “You sure this is where you met her, moss head?” Sanji asked.

               “Ya cook, it was down one of these alleys.” Zoro relied.

               They then over heard the name Willow being spoken. An old man was talking to one of the shop keepers. They went over to hear.

               “Have you seen Willow? I can’t find her anywhere!” The old man asked.

               “No sorry, she’s probably gotten herself into trouble.” The shop keeper didn’t seem helpful.

               Zoro takes a step closer.

               “Excuse me, but who are you talking about?” He asked.

               “My niece, I haven’t seen her since yesterday and I’m worried.”

               “Is she tall, blonde with long hair?”

               “That’s her. Have you seen her?”

               “I met her yesterday in the afternoon.”

               “BERN! BERN!” A young boy came running toward the group.

               “Alex, what is it?”

               “Willow, I saw her yesterday over the shoulder of some of Alborz’s men. They took her away!”

               “Damn it, she can usually take care of herself but they must have gotten her by surprise. How am I gonna get her back without trading with them. They’ve already taken so much from my town.

               “We could help.”

               Bern turns toward Zoro.

               “While I appreciate that young man, why would you do such a thing?”

               “She helped me out yesterday and I would like to repay her.”

               “Anyways,” Sanji inserted, “we’re always willing to help out a damsel in destress.”

               Bern gave them both a serious look.

               “You too seem to mean what you say. If you will take these with you.”

               He handed them two kodachi, in detailed spiraled sheaths.

               “These are hers.”

               Zoro looked at the swords in his hands. Feeling ready for a fight.

               “ZORO!, SANJI! LOOK AT ALL THE FOOD!”

               The two looked over their shoulders to see Luffy coming toward them.

               “Wow, Zoro did you get new swords?”

               “No, they belong to a girl I met. She’s in trouble and we’re gonna save her.”

               “Cooool! Sounds fun, lets go!”

               “But Sanji and I were-“

               “I want an adventure, lets get everyone and make a day out of it!”

               Zoro and Sanji sighed together.

               “Fine.”

The Straw Hat pirates stood outside a large building where they were told Alborz’s group was camped out.

               “Lets go!”

               And Luffy made the first move barging into the building, taking on the men in side by surprise. The fight was short. The pirates easily overpowering the group of riffraff.

               “She’s not here.” Zoro looked around.

               “Hey look. There’s stair leading up to the next floor, she must be up there.” Nami started up the stairs.

               “Nami my sweet wait for me!!.”

               The rest of the crew followed them up the stairs finding an interesting scene.

               Willow was beaten a bruised but otherwise fine. She was more annoyed that she got capture and she didn’t have her swords on her. She herd the fighting going on downstairs and figured this was her chance. She had waited to make her move until she knew where the safe was. She quickly slipped her hands out of the ropes and came up behind Alborz who was at his desk back turn to her, and quickly put the rope around his neck.

               “She killed him!” Brook cried.

               “What? No I didn’t. I don’t think…” She looked confused.

               Chopper came up to the body on the floor, checking his pulse.

               “Nope, he’s alive.”

               “Oh good,” Willow gasped, “That would have been a pain.”

               She then turned around to a picture on the wall. Moving her fingers deftly around the frame she found the lock. The picture swung open, revealing a safe. She them proceeded to pick the look on the safe. After a minute the safe clicked open.

               “And here is all the money that bastard had been stealing.”

               “Wooow! How’d you do that?” Luffy’s eyes gleamed.

               “Pick the lock? Practice. Been doing it since I was 5.”

               “Um, you uncle told me to give you these.” Zoro handed out the swords.

               “Oh thanks, at least I didn’t need them. By the way. I remember you Zoro but who’s the rest?

               “Oh this is the pirate crew I below to, the Straw Hat pirates.”

               “Pirates. Cool. Any of you want to carry Alborz for me?”

               “Oh I will my dear!” Sanji scooped up the body in his arms.

               “Dear?” Willow asked Zoro.

               “Just go with it, he’s crazy.”

               “Again I can’t say thank you enough for helping out my niece. Why don’t you stay at our house for dinner?” Bern asked.

               “FOOD!” Luffy exclaimed.

               “I’ll take that as a yes.” Bern replied.

               The Straw Hat pirates stayed at the mayor’s house for the night. Learning more about Willow.

               “So you’re a thief? Franky asked.

               “I was when I lived with my parents.” Willow said.

               “Your parents let you be a thief?” Robin asked quizzically.

               “Well we were pirates.”

               “What?” Everyone exclaimed.

               “Ha, ya I was born at sea and raised on as a pirates. I kind of learned all the trades, but I was really good at being a thief but I’ve always wanted to be more like my father who was a swordsmen. Thing is, we were different pirates, we weren’t out for money or fame really just kind of to explore, have adventures, we actually helped people. My mom was always helping out people we found on shore, we liberated cities from other pirates and the government. We were kind of vigilantes I guess. Bern was our cook.”

               “So what happened then, why aren’t you with them anymore?” Chopper asked.

               “They are all dead. Only ones left are Bern and I.”

               Everyone looked down.

               “It’s ok” Willow said, “things happen.”

               “How long ago was it?” Nami asked.

               “About two years ago, around my 19^th birthday.”

               “So your 21?” Robin asked.

               “Not quite still got a month.”

               The rest of the night was spent drinking and having a good time. Brook played music. Franky posed. Zoro drank, a lot, along with Willow. And Sanji asked Bern about his cooking techniques. Everyone had a good time.

               In the morning the pirates were all set to head out. Willow and Bern came down to the docks with them to say good bye. Everyone was on the ship but Luffy, Sanji and Zoro.

               Zoro turned to Willow.

               “Come with us.”

               “What?” She cried.

               “We all talked about it last night after you passed out and we want you to be part of our crew. Luffy said.

               “You miss it right? Being out on the sea having adventures?”

               “Yes, but-“

               “Go,” Bern put a hand on her shoulder, “you need to get over you fears and live again. Go protect people and be like your parents. They would want you to be happy.”

               “I love you”

               Willow gave Bern hug and then turned towards the pirates. And set out on a new adventure.
