We have a new chapter here, folks! A brand new chapter! This may not get to be as long or popular as ‘The Emerald Rose’ (my HP/OP crossover with Doflamingo/FemHarry pairing - it's on Fanfiction), but I am enjoying this one. We will see how far this can go. Wish me luck, guys! ^^
Here the Chapter Starts
Baroque Works, as it turns out, is a company on the opposite side of town. While Doflamingo’s influence can stretch this far, this area was known as the territory of Crocodile. From what he managed to catch from overheard conversations, or simply asking people if they knew where the building was, Crocodile and Doflamingo were at an understanding of sorts.
Mainly, they stay out of each other’s business. This side of town did not see the eccentric Donquixote as much as the other side. Here, Crocodile rules.
Though the fact that the two know each other did cause some discomfort, Law stepped into the building. The exterior was mostly glass and stone. But the interior was beautiful. The floor was marble, various colors that blended well instead of clashing. The pillars looked to be made of limestone, large reptiles being the design motif on each pillar.
"Can I help you?" a gentle voice asked, bringing Law’s attention to the woman at the desk. She watched him closely with her bright blue eyes, a small smile on her lips as her hand tucked her pitch-black hair back behind her ear. Perhaps it was his own Omega instincts telling him, but she struck him as an Alpha.
"I was told to look for a ‘Mister Zero’ or ‘Crocodile’," Law told her, walking up to the desk.
"And who sent you?" she inquired, turning to the computer as though looking up a appointment schedule.
"I don’t have an appointment," he told her. "My name is Trafalgar Law. I was sent here by Donquixote Rocinante."
"I was unaware that Doflamingo has a living relative," she commented. "My name is Nico Robin, though most call me Miss All Sunday here. If you will give me a moment, I will let Mister Zero know you’re here. Do you mind telling me what your business is?"
"Personal, I’m afraid," he told her, not sure how he was supposed to tell the woman the situation. After all, he was only told to come here if something happened and that this man named Crocodile will help him. He wasn’t sure how, though, or what relationship they have to each other.
She stared at him for a moment before turning to the phone and picking it up. Only a single button was pressed, but that was all it took in order to contact the CEO of the company. "Mister Zero, this is Miss All Sunday," she started. "A young man just walked in wishing to see you. His name is Trafalgar Law and he claims to be sent by Donquixote Rocinante." There was a slight pause before she nodded. "Yes, sir. I’ll see him to your office myself."
Hanging up the phone, she turned to Law. "Well, it seems he does not mind the unexpected visit," she stated, walking around her desk to stand in front of the young Omega. "Follow me, if you please."
"He agreed to meet with me?" he inquired as she led him down the hall. The doors he spotted told him they were heading for elevators. His chest felt like it tightened somewhat at the idea of being trapped in the metallic box with a woman he knows nothing about. On his way to meeting a man he still knows nothing about.
"Indeed he has," Robin told him gently. "The one who sent you must be important to him in some way. Otherwise, he would have had you escorted from the building."
The elevator doors opened with a ding!, allowing them to enter it’s belly. While ‘Miss All Sunday’ stepped in confidentially, Law was more apprehensive. It wasn’t that he hated elevators or tight spaces. It was the fact that he would have nowhere to go if something went wrong. Still, he swallowed thickly then stepped into the metallic box before the door closed.
"What kind of man is Mr. Crocodile?" he asked as Robin pressed the highest number button. They’re going straight to the top, apparently. And why wouldn’t they? They’re going to see the CEO, after all.
"He can talk circles around you without you knowing it," she started gently. "He is subtle when he speaks at times, but very business-like." As though suddenly remembering something, she turned to him. "You do not have any health problems that can be triggered with airborne pollution, do you?"
Law shook his head. "He’s a smoker?" he asked.
Robin giggled lightly. "He does smoke cigars, but I would not recommend calling him a smoker. There is an officer, Captain Smoker, that comes in the building often to look for any foul play. Or to simply smoke and chat with Mister Zero. I often wonder."
"Why do you call him that? Mister Zero?"
"We all have second names here. These names tell other employees just how high up in the chain we are. I bet you took me for a simple secretary when you walked in."
"You’re not?" the Omega said, his golden eyes blinking curiously.
"I’m just a step below Mister Zero," she informed. "You could call me his personal secretary, or a secondary partner. Truth is, when it comes to some business, he refers to Mister One. But I am never far from his reach in case he has need of me."
The elevator lurched to a stop, the doors smoothing sliding open. Law wasn’t even aware of how high they traveled during their short talk. The floor they stopped at was bare of any doors but one down the hall. As they stepped out of the elevator, Law noticed another door at the opposite end of the hallway. "My office is to your right," Robin told him, leading down the left end of the hall. "This is Mister Zero’s office." She knocked gently on the door, waiting for the rough voice to give permission to enter before placing her hand on the handle.
The office was large and spacious, paintings on the wall evenly spaced and no one is higher than the other. The carpet was soft, caving in gently under the weight placed upon it. One wall was glass, allowing a bird’s eye view of the city almost. The desk near the wall was large and made of solid red wood, it looked like. Everything was even neatly organized, papers sorted in one box while another stack was ready to be looked over and approved or denied. There were no frames on the desk to hold pictures and the only item of some bulk was the computer monitor that wasn’t even three inches thick. The tower was more than likely under the desk, tucking into a corner to prevent being bumped into on a regular basis.
The man at the desk looked up as they entered, his dark eyes regarding them almost uncaringly. His hair was slicked back, the light making the dark locks look like they were more of a dark purple. His clothing simply looked expensive, a white dress shirt with a black vest buttoned up over it. Smooth black slacks covered his legs, reaching down to his dark leather boots. A dark coat was slung over his shoulders, thick tan fur around the collar.
The most noticeable features about the man, no doubt an Alpha, were the long stitched scar across his pale face and the large golden hook in place of his left hand. Law was tempted to ask what happened and why a hook instead of a prosthetic, but felt that it would be a foolish idea. The Alpha is intimidating enough and Law found himself questioning his carrier’s choice in friends.
"You may go, Miss All Sunday," the man told the female Alpha calmly, the cigar clenched between clean teeth barely moving.
"Yes, sir," Robin accepted with a nod of her head, turning on her heel and leaving the office with a soft click of the door.
The man, Crocodile, waved a hand smoothly towards a chair. "Sit."
"I don’t like being told what to do by people I don’t know," Law retorted, refusing to move from his spot.
"Kuhahaha, I can see that," Crocodile chuckled, though it sounded like he was mocking the young Omega. "You don’t look enough like Rocinante to be his kid."
"I’ve heard I take after my father," Law pointed out as he pulled the sealed envelope from his yellow jacket’s pocket. "I was told by my carrier to give you this." He held the letter out, stepping only close enough for Crocodile to reach the letter and still be unable to touch him.
Not that the Alpha tried, taking the letter easily from Law’s fingers. He was silent as he ripped it open and pulled the letter out, a single sheet of paper that didn’t look like it was filled even two thirds. His dark eyes scanned over it, his cigar rolling between his teeth as he read.
Law looked around the office as Crocodile read the note, realizing that there was a large glass holding pen off to the side filled with water, long grass, and a bank of sand. A splash and movement of the grass alerted him to the idea that something was, in fact, living in that pen. His golden eyes grew wide as he turned his head from the strange corner.
"So, Doflamingo found him?" Crocodile asked.
"I assume so," Law replied calmly, not letting anything seep through his mask in case his emotions were used against him. "I returned home yesterday and there were obvious signs of a struggle. My carrier was also gone and hasn’t returned."
"Surprised that bird brain even left evidence behind that he was there," the Alpha commented, placing the note on his desk. "Probably one of his underlings. Either way, looks like you’re my responsibility now."
"What?!" Law exclaimed in shock, immediately forgetting his mask. "No! I need your help to get my carrier back from Doflamingo!"
"There is no getting Rocinante back," Crocodile informed coldly. "Let me tell you something, boy. When your carrier disappeared, Doflamingo practically tore the whole damn city apart looking for him. When he couldn’t find him here, he spread to other places. He has Rocinante now, which means that no one and nothing will get him away from that damn bird. He’ll make sure of it. And Doflamingo knows about you. Rocinante probably won’t even attempt escaping if you are being used against him."
"I can’t leave him there!" the Omega argued. "Doflamingo might kill him or worse! I have to help him!"
"You can’t," Crocodile said calmly, sitting in his large plush chair. "But you’re my problem now. Rocinante asked me to keep an eye on you, to make sure his brother doesn’t get a hold of you. He knows what he’s getting into. But he doesn’t know what Doflamingo will do to you."
"Why did he send me here in the first place, then?" Law demanded. "He said you could help me!"
"This is me helping you," the Alpha pointed out, removing the cigar from his mouth. "Doflamingo may not know what you look like. To him, you’re just another face. But if you were left on your own, you would probably bring attention to yourself somehow. I’m the one that was asked to make sure that doesn’t happen."
"Why you?" he pressed. "Why did Papa send me here to you? If you’re not going to help me get him back, then why am I even here?!"
"I already told you, I’m keeping you out of trouble," Crocodile sighed, the cigar drying up and breaking apart into tiny grains that were carried with the breeze out an open window. "For now, you’re going to go school like a good boy, graduate, get your degree, whatever the hell you’re doing. And you are eventually going to drop that stupid idea of going against your uncle."
"And abandon my carrier?!"
"He gave himself up to protect you, stupid brat!" the Alpha snapped at him, causing the Omega to jerk back slightly. "He moved back here knowing it was an absolute sentence for him. He sent you to me so that I can protect you from his brother. Because as far as most people go, I am the only one who can." He grumbled under his breath, grabbing a new cigar before cutting off a tip. Lighting it, he inhaled deeply before looking to the younger.
"Doflamingo and I are on peaceful terms to an extent. We stay out of each other’s business and don’t try to take over each other. We have a certain…respect for one another. Occasionally, we even make deals or join together for a single project, depending on what it is. He will randomly come here just for the sole purpose of annoying me. He may even bring Rocinante here with him just to prove that no one can stay out of his reach.
"So long as he has your carrier, there is nothing either of us can do to help him. All we can do is keep Doflamingo from discovering you. Rocinante will stay with his brother, whether he likes it or not, just to keep you safe. So I get the fun job of making sure you stay that way. You can still stay in your apartment since I’m sure it is closer to your school than my home, and I’ll even take over the bills unless you’re already able to, but one of my people will be close by in case something happens."
"Like what?" Law scoffed with a roll of his eyes. "I’m not defenseless. I can handle myself. I have my own power!"
"Almost everyone in Doflamingo’s ‘family’ has a power, too, and none of them are something to scoff at. He is easily the most powerful, but the others can do their fair share of damage. A few of my more trusted employees have powers as well, the rest are more mundane with their own special skills. But each one of them, powers or not, have their own strength to make others back off."
"So just like that?" Law asked in disbelief. "I came here thinking you can help me get my carrier back. And all I get is a bodyguard?"
"Be glad you’re getting that much," Crocodile commented with a small chuckle. "And try not to kill him. He’ll meet you downstairs. Now, I suggest you get going. I’m sure you’ve already missed a few classes and college courses are a pain to keep up with when you skip."
"Thanks," Law sneered as he turned towards the door. "For nothing."
Crocodile watched the younger leave the room, slamming to door shut. His pet in the pen growled loudly at the sound, angrily splashing the water. "Damn, Roci," he muttered to himself. "How did you have a kid like that?" He reach over and pressed a button on his phone.
Here is a line
Law stepped from the elevator, jaws tight and fists clenched as his arms shook with built in rage. His carrier kept telling him that this man would help him. Was this really what he meant? No! He refuses to believe it!
"There you are!" a cheerful voice exclaimed before someone was suddenly in front of him, causing the Omega to blink in surprise as he reeled back. "Zero-chan told me all about your meeting with him! I’m so glad to meet you, Law-chan!"
"Who are you?" Law hesitantly asked, looking over the tall, dark-haired man in front of him. The tall man dressed similar to a ballerina wearing slightly medieval-theme clothing with a pink overcoat and swans on his back. As well as make-up thickly packed onto his face.
"I am none other than Monsieur Bon Clay," the cross-dresser announced loudly, striking a ballerina pose with one hairy leg tucked in, the tip of his toes touching the other equally hairy leg, and spinning rapidly with his fingertips touching high above his head. "Zero-chan told me that I am to be your guard!"
"Hell, no!" Law denied, walked around the man and heading towards the door.
"Oh, you won’t even know I’m there!" Bon Clay assured. "And I will have you know, I am a master of disguise and Okama Kenpo!"
"I doubt that I won’t know you’re there and I really don’t care about what you’re a master at," Law informed through his teeth, turning towards the other. "There is no way in hell I am going to be sharing a living space with anyone!"
"Zero-chan already took care of everything. I’m moving in across the hall from your apartment," the okama explained with a wave of his manicured hand. "Now, stay still." His right hand reached out and touched Law’s face before the Omega pulled back. "There!"
"Why are you touching me?" Law asked with a scowl, wiping at his cheek.
"That’s my power," Bon Clay answered as he touched his own face with his right hand, his form changing into Law immediately. "So long as I touch someone with my right hand, I can change into them."
Law stared at his mirror image in horror, rubbing his eyes and turning away. "Don’t do that." The man even sounds like him.
"It’s just a precaution," the copycat stated, touching his face with his left hand and changing back to his own face. "In case of someone finding you out, I can copy your appearance and lead them away while you get to safety."
"And if they catch you?" he asked skeptically, turning back to the okama.
"Master of Okama Kenpo, remember?" Bon Clay snickered, tapping his head with his finger.
"And if I tell you to leave me the hell alone?"
"I will still be in the apartment across from you!"
Law groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose as though warding off the impending headache. He has no choice in the matter, apparently. "Fine. Just…don’t bother me."
Here is a line!
"You look really upset, Law," Penguin noted, sitting down at the table across from the tattooed young man. "You missed classes yesterday. Everything alright?"
He sighed heavily, looking up to Penguin as Shachi took the spot at his side. "My carrier is in some trouble, that’s all," he answered, tucking his head back down.
"Anything we can help with?" Shachi asked, poking Law’s shoulder.
"Not really," the Omega replied into his crossed arms. While he was finding himself attached to the pair, he couldn’t drag them into his own family crisis. They’re good people and don’t treat him like an outsider due to him being new in town or being one of the smartest in the university.
"Maybe you just need a break from it all," Penguin suggested, leaning towards the tattooed Omega. "Look, my boyfriend and his brother are going to be throwing a party tonight. Open invite. You should come and have some fun."
"I don’t think that is what I need right now," Law told him, turning his head towards the grinning Omega across from him.
"Come on, it’ll be fun!" Shachi encouraged. "Kidd and Killer throw the best parties!"
"‘Best’ meaning loudest and most destructive?" Law inquired.
"Partially," the Beta replied with a shrug. "Law, when we see you, you’re always doing something related to school. You need to take a step back and breathe. If you keep pushing yourself like you are, you’re going to burn out."
"Rest assured, I relax plenty when I’m at home. It’s just…family problems happened."
"Then come to the party and take a break from family," Penguin pressed. "We’ll stick by your side the whole time so you don’t feel left out."
"Unless Killer drags you away, Pen," Shachi teased.
"Don’t be mad because I get some," Penguin taunted in return.
"I know that we’ve known each other for only a few weeks, so it probably is not that unusual to ask this," Law said, sitting upright and rolling his shoulders. "Who is Killer?"
"Ever see a tall Alpha with thick blonde hair down to his thighs, bangs long enough to cover up most of his face?" Shachi asked.
"He cut it," Penguin stated, inspecting his nails.
"To his mid-back, then! Anyway, he’s generally around another Alpha, redhead with pale skin, make-up on his face and black nails."
"I believe I have seen those two," the tattooed Omega replied with a small nod. While he never openly spoke to them, he has noticed them in the halls. It almost looked like the blonde was keeping the redhead in check most of the time.
"Those two are Killer and Kidd, half-brothers or something," Shachi explained. "Do not, I repeat, do not start anything with either one of them. The other will join in and then you’re screwed. I heard they sent a guy to the hospital just for looking at them funny!"
"And you want to go to a party they’re throwing?" Law skeptically asked, wondering just what kind of company he is keeping.
"All the girls go to their parties," he offered uncaringly with a grin and a single shoulder shrug. "So many were heartbroken when Killer, the blonde one, was claimed by our shy little arctic birdie."
"That is such an old joke," Penguin scoffed with a roll of his eyes. "And they didn’t sent Apoo to the hospital. He just went to the nurse with a black eye, some bruising, and a few cuts. Geez, everyone talks about that like they broke his entire skeletal structure or something."
"Was it over a look?" Law asked, quirking his eyebrow.
"Apoo looks at everyone weird, but Kidd was the one who had the lash-out. That’s beside the point anyway. You going to come or not?"
Law debated his answer. There wasn’t much he could do for his carrier right now. Not unless he can convince Crocodile to help him free the blonde Omega. His carrier may not have outright said what Doflamingo wants with him, but Law figured it out years ago. He can’t leave him like that. Besides, if his carrier is so worried about his brother finding him, then being in a crowded area would prove beneficial if he is found. No one is crazy enough to try something in a massive crowd.
"Come on, Law," Penguin urged, looking up at him with the most pitiful puppy eyes imaginable. "Please? It’ll be fu~n!"
Letting out a low sigh, Law nodded. "Very well. But I reserve the right to leave should I not enjoy it."
"Deal!" the duo accepted.
"Want the address or should I come to your place?" Penguin offered, already preparing to pull out pen and paper.
Thinking of his new ‘bodyguard’ across the hall, Law’s answer was simple. "Give me the damn address." These are his first potential friends and he was not going to have that crazy, cross-dressing Beta scare them off.
Here the Chapter Ends
I know, I know. Rocinante is gone, Law met Crocodile, and now he’s off to a party. I am really screwing with everything. But if this is going to work, Law needs to go to this party.
Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! ^^ And in case anyone got confused about who is Alpha, Beta, and Omega, here’s a short list.
Crocodile – Alpha
Doflamingo – Alpha
Robin – Female Alpha
Killer – Alpha
Kidd – Alpha
Law – Omega
Rocinante – Omega
Penguin – Omega
Shachi – Beta
Bon Clay – Beta
If this list gets longer to help prevent confusion, then I’m going to need to find a different way once more characters come in. And a lot will be coming in next chapter. Because – PARTY!!
