Disclaimer: I do not own pokemon and do not profit from this. AU because i'm not up on newer seasons. |
DON'T OWN POKEMON, WISH I DID... I DO THIS FOR FUN, NOT PROFIT. POKEMON AND ALL CHARACTERS (EXCEPT MY O.C.s) BELONG TO NINTENDO/GAMEFREAK (AND WHOEVER ELSE I'M FORGETTING.)
NOT SURE IF I MENTIONED ALL THAT IN LAST CHAPTER.
Also I am doing the dating by day/month/year. Unusual for an American, eh? Figured I'd try something new. Not a big whoop but...

They had spent hours searching the woods only to find Mother in the glade not far from the cave. Mother only came through here when she needed to get home quickly so to find her here was concerning. Especially since she was unresponsive.
"She has a fever!" Shade lifted her up and with help from Father managed to bring her to the ice cave in hopes that the cool temperature would bring her temperature down.
7/5/2009
Shade carried Mother into town, Father, Big Brother and Little Brother following along closely. The coolness of the cave had donenothing to ease her fever. In fact it rose.
Being just a small center in a small town, off the popular path, most days were slow.
When Joy, in the middle of her Yoga session, heard the doors burst open and frantic please for help, she fell over and took down an incense stand. As she put out the small fire she had Chansey go check on the patient.
She wasn't long behind Chansey, but her trusty pokemon assistant bumped into her in the hall. Over the long years of working with the fairy, she had come to understand her pokemon friend. The needed a stretcher and it was urgent.
She ran into the lobby to see the strange, local girl. Eyes red and puffy hanging onto a Weavile. A couple Sneasle and another Weavile stood just off to the side.
"She's not getting better!" The girl said with worry. "Please help her, Nurse Joy!"
9/5/2009
Two days had passed. The girl helped clean up in the lobby and never left the center. Aside from the dinner Joy had cooked last night, the girl lived off the junkfood in the vending machines.
The male Wevile and the Sneasle would show up at night to sit with her but they were wary of Joy despite her efforts to help.
It was now eleven at night and Joy was getting ready for bed. Suddenly the alarms sounded. Almost as if they had sensed it the girl and her pokemon followed Joy and Chansey into Mother's room.
10/5/2009
12.15 am.
Joy knelt beside the girl curled up in the corner of the room.
"Are you ready to talk?" The girl shrugged.
Joy wiped away her tears, the action in vain as more quickly spilled in the torrent from her eyes.
"She had been sick for a long time."
"Only a day!" The girl insisted.
"Oh, honey, it was more than just a few days. Even if she had been brought in last year, she may not... have... made it." The girl was now curled up even tighter and sobbing. "Oh, Honey, I'm sorry! I can't imagine how much it must hurt to lose your first pokemon."
"She's my Mother." The girl replied in a hushed tone.
Those words stunned Joy, she was totally unprepaired to stop the girl from bolting from the room and leaving the center.

Shade wiped the snow from her face and gave her big brother a glare.
"You have got to see these goofy looking trainers!" He told her and waved for her to follow.
In about ten minutes they stopped to watch two guys in white with a red R on their shirts bickering. Even their Ratata were arguing.
"Hey, I'm going to challenge them!" She couldn't stop him from jumping out onto the road.
"What the hell is that?" The first trainer said in surprise.
"Who cares. The boss might like it." The second replied.
Shade watched her brother motion for a fight. But instead of a fight she watched in petrified, mortified, as they threw a net over her brother. It shocked him and he was stunned. He managed to cut a few holes in the net but it shocked him again, and longer this time. At the end of the third attempt to escape, his hair was smoking and there were bald spots. He was unconcious and only then did the trainers capture him in a pokeball.
Her father and little brother found her still in place. Staring at the scorch marks in the grass where her brother had been laying under the net.
"You okay?" Her father asked.
"He's gone." She told him. "They were not regular trainers."
They stood there in silence for a bit then she was led home.
She did not sleep that day and Father and Little Brother were kept awake by her muffled sobs and whimpers.
4/6/2009
4.30 am.
They walked along the sode of the road. Suddenly a rumble and a growl behind them. Bright lights came around the corner. There was no time to give warning. No time to react. Shade watched the big truck roll right over her Father. Less than thirty minutes ago, Little Brother was taken in by a young trainer on his first journey with a few handfulls of berries and a granola bar. You could see the instant bond between the two! They smiled with pride and joy as the boy asked that Little Brother be his first pokemon and the little Sneasel nodded happily.
It was a happy event that she and Father had just been discussing. Now, he had pushed her put of the path of a speeding vehicle.
She managrd to untangle herself from the vines and ran to her still breathing Father.
"Daddy!"
"You're not in trouble..." A gurlgling breath interrupted his words. "No need to..." Another gurgle. "Be safe! I'll give your mothers your love. We will be watching you and your siblings." He managed a smile then there was no more.

The Meowth stuck his head into the opening of the ice cave den. "HEY!" He greeted only to lose his smile as he felt the air of sadness in the place. "Where, uh, is everybody?"
"Gone." Came the reply from the bundle of grass in the back.
"Shade?"
"Sister's got a trainer. Mother passed away. I don't know how Big Brother is, being taken the way he was. Little Brother is now called Buddy and he has a trainer too. And Father..." She stsrted to cry. "He saved me from the truck!"
Her cries were drown out by a loud growl and her wincing.
"When was the last time you ate?"
The girl shrugged and he finally got a good look at her.
"When was the last time that you slept?"
Another shrug. "It feels so long ago."
"I am not going to let you... waste away!" He curled up beside her. "You get some rest, child!"
11/6/2009
"I cannot believe that I had slept for two days." She said as she watched her uncle using Payday.
She would collect the coins when he would stop to rest. The tree he fired at even had a few coins that she couldn't pull from the trunk.
"Gee that takes a lot out of me!" He laughed.
"Father kept his pokeball from when he had a trainer. Did you?"
"Sure I did!" He stretched. "It's how we keep from being caught again allows us to live in the wild." He tossed her a few of the coins near where he sat. "Only one pokemon to a ball and only one ball for a pokemon."
"Why do you think I should become a trainer?" She flopped on to the log beside him.
"You could actually do anything you want. I don't care. But we have to face it, you don't look like a Seasel, you look human, and maybe being the freak is okay when you have family but..." he placed a paw on her knee. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay."
"No, it ain't." He stood up. "It ain't all bad. Being on a team. Itachi was good. Damn good! He really looked out for your dad and I!" He shrugged. "I guess that the traveling bug stuck with me, that's why I travel so often." He stretched laid out on the ground. "Of course it would be nice to settle down." She stare at him. "I never got to see Itachi's home. From what I understood at the time, it wasn't a happy place. He liked being on the move and I enjoyed the pillows he would set in the hotel or pokecenter windows."
"I have something from my old home." She stood and slipped into the cave only to return with a paper. "I remember where I'm from." She stare at it.
"Then why don't you go home?"
"Not ready." She sat beside him. "It was a few weeks before I came here. Albert. He has the place now. According to the papers, he doesn't believe I am dead." She unrolled the paper to show a house, no, a mansion, out front of it was a man with slick black hair and sharp dressed in a suit.
"That's where you're from!?"
"Yeah." She sighed. "You mind taking him a message for me?"

SHADE'S P.O.V.
"Aaah!" A stick snapped in half. "Stupid shoelaces!" Then the stick salijg through the trees. "Be trainer! He says. You don't look like a pokemon he says!" She kicked off the shoes and tossed them a few feet away. "I hate shoes!"
She stands there for a short while then sighs.
She takes two good steps towards the shoes and is just foldijg her arms when a rustle from above a light wail of fear and she is suddenly holding a pokemon in her arms.
The little creature is staring at her wide eyed with fear when a few barks sound with the rustling of the near bye bushes. The poor thing faints in her arms.
A couple poochyina jump out and she glares at them. The two freeze then slowly back into the bush.
RALT'S P.O.V.
They had killed her mother and brother. Now they pursued her.
Teleport. Teleport. Teleport.
It was all she could do. She was too scared to try amything else.
The memory of the pack eating her family still fresh after a full day of being constantly hunted. The pups were using her to hone their skills and she knew their pack was close by.
Even up in the trees she still had them on her trail.
She teleported to the next tree but was just off her mark. She fell. Too tired to do anything she acceptrd her fate only to land on something soft and open her eyes to see a strange creature. It had a dark aura around it, just like the predators that pursued her. She heard the barks and rustle of the bush and she blacked out.
"Hey little one." The soft, strange sounds had been repeating in her dream. They slowly pushed away the bad feelings and darkness. "They're gone. They won't hurt you any more." She smelled berries and some strange, sweet smell. "Time to eat."
He opened her eyes to see the same dark creature that had caught her. She started to shiver in fright but a gentle touch on her cheek eased her tension some. The touch was a bit cool and made her sore cheek feel better. The colorful sight of a bunch of berries being held out to her made her feel even better. She grabbed the small basket and teleported a few feet away.
"Tough day?" The words made no sense to the young Ralts.
"You probably don't speak human." The creature tappped a finger on it's chin. "Sne?"
She froze. This thing looked amd smelled like a dark thing because it was! She stare at it with fear. There was no way she could out run this thing too. She still felt so tired.
"Ra!" 'Stay back!'
'Hey, I didn't mean to scare you.' The strange creature said.
'Okay, I understand you.' She tried to reply telapathically but failed. The creature was a dark type.
"Ra lts?" 'Understand me?' She tilted her head. The creature tilted it's head in response. "Nope." She thought and ate a berry.
"Snesel sel sne sNe?" 'Can you read our writing?'
The little Ralts nodded yes and watched as the strange sneasel started to write.
Before long the little Ralts sat in Shade's lap as they wrote about themselves.
Her family was gone too. Some were still alive but she probably wouldn't see them again. The little Ralts hugged herself to the human girl as the two made camp for the night.
