Author�s notes : Nothing new to say since the first chapter. Just that Fate is going to make a pretty tangled web with the feelings of our dear ronins and warlords ! Oh and I still don�t know how to write a fighting scene for the life of me so don�t hurt me please ! *runs away to hide in a corner*

Chapter 2 :

Two weeks later�

"Watch out Halo, yes like this. Raise your arm, don�t lower your guard."

Cale said to Sage as the blonde dodged Cale�s sword. Sage managed to strike the blue haired warlord in the chest, but Cale fought back, knocking Sage�s no datchi out of his hands. Sage reacted as quickly as lighting and a second later, he had his weapon back in his hand and ready. Cale smiled, proud of his student. Then Cale smirked and attacked again,.

They keep fighting for some time and when he was satisfied, Cale suddenly stopped.

"Good job. You did well. You have almost all your powers and strength back now."

Sage grinned at Cale happily and putted his weapon on his back, dismissing his armor. Cale did the same and was about to talk when Sekhmet appeared in the room next to him, in his subarmor.

"Dinner is ready Cale. Anubis send me to remind you, just in case you forgot like last time."

He said with a small smirk. Cale shrugged.

"Not my fault. And anyway Talpa wants me to train Sage, so I�m doing my job. Now let�s go. I�m hungry."

Sage nodded and the three men disappeared. Since he was in the Dynasty Sage had learned a lot of things, like this ability to appear and disappear at will and he was enjoying it.

When they reappeared they were in the large dining-room where Dais and Anubis were already waiting.

"Ah ! It was time you two show up ! I�m starving !"

Anubis complained but as usual nobody listen to him, except Sage who laughed softly to himself before sitting down between Cale and Sekhmet.

"So what the news ?"

Cale asked as he served himself from the numerous plates.

"We are going to attack the ronins soon, at least that�s what master Talpa told me."

Anubis replied and Sage looked up almost instantly. He was bored of training in the castle all days, he wanted to fight the ronins too ! Ok the life here wasn�t bad, the other warlords had all became hisendsends in the two weeks he had spend in the youjakai with them and he loves them like brothers, but still !

"Do you think I will be able to go with you ?"

He asked innocently, or rather trying to. Sekhmet laughed and smiled at him.

"Eager to get into the fight aren�t we ? Good, that�s the spirit !"

Cale growled low in his throat and glared at Sekhmet.

"Would you be quiet and shut up snake-boy ! Stop giving him such stupid advice would you ? I don�t want him to get killed because you made him believe that this war is a game ! And he should still train a little�"

"Geez calm down man, I didn�t mean it like this. You�re acting like you are his mother or something. He�s able to fight by himself now Cale. And unlike what you seems to think, I care for the kid too."

"I�m not a kid !"

Sage said indignantly, glaring at Sekhmet who winked at him. Sage raised an eyebrow at the green hair warlord before smirking against his will. Sekhmet always seems to be able to made him laugh, and he was grateful for that.

Most of the time people seem to think that Sekhmet was crazy, but Sage known better and really like the green hair man, even through he didn�t even knew who the man was two weeks ago.

From his spot Cale glared at Sekhmet and, having finished his meal, left the room. Sage and Sekhmet watched him and both sighed at the same time. Dais and Anubis stared at them for a minute before shrugging.

Then they left as well, leaving Sekhmet and Sage alone.

"Aaaaaaaaah !! Alone at last. Now we can have some peace."

Sekhmet said with a content smile. Sage just sighed then frowned.

"What it is Sage ? You look unhappy."

"That�s because I�m unhappy. Why Cale keeps insisting on me staying at the castle ?! I can fight damnit ! It�s not like I�m some kind of defenceless maiden or something�"

"You want my opinion ? Cale is just dead worry about you and is trying his best to protect you without looking like it."

Sage looked up at him, eyes shining slightly.

"Really ?"

Sekhmet nodded and Sage smiled. Then they heard Talpa�s calling them for a mission and they known they had to leave. They both disappeared from the room in a second.

When they reappeared this time they were in the throne room and they automatically bowed to their master.

The other warlords were already there and Sage was feeling very excited. Maybe he would be granted the permission to fight this time ! But he wasn�t sure, so he stayed quiet and listened patiently.

Anubis was the first to speak, as usual.

"Master, we are all here at your order. What do you want of us ?"

"I called you because I have decided to attack the ronin warriors now, when they are still disorganized and weakened. Now is the perfect time to strike them mortally and I want you to leave at once before it�s too late. You will also take Sage with you."

Talpa said, his eyes glowing a bright ruby red as he spoke. Sage stayed motionless, but inside he was rejoicing and feeling ready to jump in happiness at the news.

Cale, on the other hand, looked startled and almost ready to speak his disaccord but finally he choose not to speak. Then the warlords were given the details of their mission and left the castle for the human realm, one thought in all their mind, killing the ronins�

"Well, come on ! We are not going to stay here forever ! We have to save Sage !"

"I know Kento, but please stop jumping around ! Beside we are leaving now, so you better keep your energy for the enemy."

"Really ?! We are leaving ? That's great ! We are going to kick some dynasty's butt !"

Kento cheered, jumping around once again. Rowen sighed and dropped his head in his hands. Upon seeing that Kento stopped and laughed uneasily.

"I mean, the sooner we beat them, the sooner we can get Sage back, right ?"

He asked, genuine confusion and innocence on his face. That when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head to the side and saw it was Ryo. The black haired boy was smiling at him.

"You're right Kento so don't worry, we will get Sage back and you will have your share of the battle. Now let's go !"

"Yes !"

The four voices thundered. Five minutes later the four boys were running out of the house in their subarmors, ready to fight for their life, their friend, and their world. But the boys didn�t go very far once in the forest, for they quickly ran into a bunch of dark warlords.

They were running without much thinking when they heard a yelp behind them. Startled, they all stopped and turned, only to see that Cye was on the ground and holding his right foot in one hand. He was biting his lips in order not to cry out in pain.

Sekhmet was on a nearby tree and was laughing at the poor ronin, his sword still in hand. Blood was still on it, falling softly on the ground. Cye�s blood. He then jumped on the ground and Cale, Anubis and Dais appeared next to him.

"YOU !! You dirty little..."

Kento screamed, enraged to see his best friend in pain.

"My my ronins, you don�t seem very happy to see us."

Sekhmet commented. Kento just shoot him a look and putted himself protectively in front of Cye.

"You are going to pay for hurting Cye and the rest of us Warlords ! This is the last straw ! "

Kento yelled before attacking the nearest warlord, who happened to be Anubis. The two were soon engaged in a death match, and nothing seemed to interest them beside killing each other.

Ryo soon did the same thing, the rage of being separate from the one he loved enough to made him forgot everything else as he fight Cale. Rowen stayed with Cye and helped the water warrior to recover, all the while fighting Dais and Sekhmet. Cye helped as much as he could in his state, and was pretty good at it too.

The fight kept going on till the warlords find out that the ronins were starting to gain the upper hand. Thinking quickly, Cale decided it was time to play their ace card.

/Guys, I think it�s time we show to those kids our new little brother, don�t you think ?/

/Very good idea ! Go and call him Cale !/ Cheering, Dais

/Yes, and don�t worry I won�t let them hurt him./ Warm laughter, Sekhmet

/I agree./ Calm and collected, Anubis.

/Perfect then./

Cale thought as he grinned at the ronins.

"Well ronins, I think we had enough fun. I have a little surprise for you now, and I�m sure you will love it. You can come now !"

Cale said, and the ronins tightened their grip on their weapons, already dreading what kind of monsters the dynasty was going to send them. But nothing could have prepare them for what they were going to see.

For they were expecting some kind of big monsters or human-like creatures of the dynasty, instead all they saw was a blur before they all find themselves knocked into the ground, breathless.

"Itai !! My leg is hurting me !"

Kento whined as he tried to get up, but the pain was too great and he raised on his left knee instead.

"It is my head which is hurting me..."

Rowen growled, rubbing his sore head. Next to him Ryo was no better. The boy was moaning painfully as he tried to regain control of his body.

"What the hell has happen ? It was like we were all hit separately by something very powerful."

Cye said. He hadn�t been hit as badly as the other, but he was still shaken.

"Because it�s exactly what happen. Now open your eyes ronins, and meet our new little brother."

Cale�s chilling voice echoes, and almost against their will, the ronins opened their eyes, and their gasp echo into the forest when they saw not a dynasty freak, but Sage, standing before them in his armor of Halo.

"Sage !"

Ryo all but yelled, shocked at this sinister discovery. Sage seemed to be the same boy that they knew, and they could feel no evil in him like in the warlords, but he was looking at them with a strange look in his eyes. It was like he didn�t recognize them, and at the same time he seemed fascinated.

Why was another matter.

"Sage ?! How could you ?! I though you were our friend !"

Kento said, his expression shifting from disbelief to betrayal. Rowen and Cye were too shocked to say anything. Sage looked disturbor aor a second but it disappear as soon as it had appeared.

"I�m sorry but I don�t know you. Or if I ever did I don�t remember it, and from what my brothers tell me, we weren�t friends to begin with."

Sage said, tilting his head to the side. Ryo just gazed at him in growing horror. Somewhere in his mind, a single thought echo in his head.

/Always the polite one, even when on the side of evil./

Cale chuckled behind Sage and stood close to the blonde before whispering something in his ear that only Sage seemed to heard. The blonde nodded with a small smile and looked up to Cale, who smiled back.

Ryo felt his blood turned cold at the sight.

/No, it can�t be ! I didn�t see that !/

But inside him Ryo couldn�t deny the fact that he had saw for a second an inexplicable flicker of light and warm in Cale�s eyes as he gazed at Sage. He couldn�t. Unconsciously his hands curled into fists, and before he know it he was up and fighting Cale like all the demons of Hell were in him.

The attack was so unexpected that for a full minute nobody reacted, until Sage let out a yell of rage and attacked Ryo just as fiercely. The other ronins and warlords seemed to snap out of their trance then and started fighting again.

But luck was on the warlords�s side this time. A trick of Dais, a moment of weakness from Cye and the water warrior was out cold on the floor.

"Look at the cute fish I caught ! I think Talpa will be please !"

Dais said, pleased with himself. Then he pick up Cye from the floor and thrown a look to their leader.

"I think so. Our mission is done, let�s go !"

Anubis said and as one the warlords disappeared, and Cye with them. Sage simply thrown a last murderous glance at Ryo before leaving as well.

Shocked and devastated, the three remaining ronins stayed there for a long time, not knowing what to do...

"Oh god NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO !! CYE !! WHY ?! Why you ?!"

Kento�s screamed echo into the forest, but stayed unanswered...

"Good, veeeeery good. I�m very proud of you this time my warlords. You did well, especially you Sage. I�m please with you. You can all rest till the next mission now, you deserve it. In the meantime the soldiers will take the prisoner to the prison."

Talpa said and nodded to a group of youja soldiers to take Cye�s unconscious body to the prison. The warlords thanked their masters and disappeared, happy with themselves and to have please their master.

Only Sage stayed longer than the others, watching Cye�s body being dragged away. Sage�s eyes clouded over for a second as he watched the redhead, then it disappear, and Sage left the throne room as well.

Somewhere in the dark of the castle, a pale green light was pulsing softly around it�s unaware bearer�s form...
