A Goddess Reborn

(A Saiyuki Fanfic)

Nineteen

Homura sat on the rooftop looking
down on them.

�What is with this guy and
rooftops?� Hakkai smiled nervously.

�He has an ego, he thinks he�s
royalty and need to be up high.� Vayu replied.

�Hagalaz, my dear friend I believe
you should come with me then.�

Hagalaz looked at Homura his eyes
narrowed. �You jerk why should I help-?� He was cut off as Homura appeared
behind him.

�My dear Kenren I do believe you
have something of my sister�s�� He looked at Gojyo.

Gojyo glared at him and held his
hand out his Jakujou appeared in his grip. �Then bring it you jerk.�

Homura was suddenly in front of
Gojyo his fist connecting with his stomach, Gojyo doubled over and Homura
removed the beads from his wrist.

�I�m terribly sorry Kenren but your
tenacious manner is not for one carrying a scripture of this magnitude.�

�Y-you asshole�� Gojyo gasped.

Tejas appeared behind Homura. �How
dare you hurt him�� She glared at him her eyes flashing a darker lilac shade.

Homura looked over his shoulder and
watched a flash of fire surrounded Tejas and she drew two swords and lunged at
him he dodged with a sword slicing close to his head and he just smiled his
typical smile.

�It�s always about the scriptures
isn�t it?!� She growled her long pink hair flung around her as she charged
again and he dodged again and smiled.

�My how you�re improving Laguz.�

She growled angrily. �I hate you! I
hate you! I hate you!� Her fire whip hit his cape and he watched as it caught
fire and he shed it simply before looking at her then at the burn mark on his
arm.

�She actually hit him you guys she
actually landed a hit in on Homura�� Goku blinked.

�No wonder she whipped your ass two
days ago�� Gojyo grinned.

�Hey you shut up!� Goku growled.

�She�s not even at full strength.�
Hakkai noticed.

Sanzo looked at Vayu. �And she�s
been like this before?�

�Only a couple of times. Only Raido
calmed her down, this ought to be interesting�� Vayu mused.

Homura blocked the fire whip and it
wrapped round his arm and he looked at her. Shien and Zenon appeared behind
him.

�Lord Homura!� Shien called out.

�No stay out of this!� He snapped
�I need to see how truly powerful she has become in this form.�

They stepped back. �If that is what
you wish Lord Homura�� Shien replied.

�Laguz�� Homura grabbed the fire
whip with his hand and he pulled at it, she fell towards him sword in other
hand and he caught it with the other hand and he pulled her right up to his
chest and the whip fell from her hand as his lips encased hers.

The sword dropped from her hand and
landed with a clatter on the ground. The fire suddenly died out as they watched
the two.

�Is this some sort of sick and
twisted perversion?� Gojyo demanded.

�Oh my it seems Homura does have
feelings for Tejas back after all�� Hakkai laughed nervously.

�Tejas�� Goku blinked.

Homura pulled back and Tejas looked
up at him blushing. �It�s not about the scripture Laguz this is about the well
being of Dagas��

Tejas blinked. �Really? You mean
you�re going to help get her back?�

�Of course I am, my dear.� He
touched the side of her face and you and Hagalaz are going to help me� now lets
go.�

Homura put his arm round Tejas�s
waist before he vanished from sight, Hagalaz following with Shien and Zenon.

�Tejas!!� Goku called out and he
fell to the ground. �He took her� he took her you guys.�

�Man that�s gotta suck dude, Homura
just took your girl.� Gojyo remarked.

*THUNK*

Gojyo glared at Sanzo and at the
paper fan on his head. �What was that for you stupid monk?�

�For being a stupid cockroach!� Sanzo
snapped.

�Tejas�� Goku knelt there on his
knees looking to where Tejas had been.

~*~*~*~

Inside Hotou Castle�

Walls of white with a hint of mauve
in the middle a king sized four post bed cr�me sheets with a solitary red
pillow in the center of the bed.

Five figures appeared from nowhere
and appeared in the room. The pink haired figure squealed happily.

�Eeeee it�s my room!� Tejas jumped
up and down happily and raced to the bed before lunging on to the bed.

Shien and Zenon bowed to Homura.
�What do you wish of us lord Homura?� Shien asked.

�Hagalaz if you can create some
form of disruption. Shien Zenon, can you two draw attention away from Koushou�s
throne room.� Homura remarked.

�As you wish.� Shien bowed and
phased out. Zenon placing his gun over his shoulder shrugged.

�Whatever.� He remarked before
following.

Hagalaz just growled. �I�m only
doing this to help Perth out.� He remarked before also phasing out.

Tejas looked at Homura after the
three had left, she looked up at him. �So are you really here to help Raido?�

�Of course I am.� He smiled at her
and touched the side of her face and Tejas looked up at him her eyes wide as
she stared up at him adoringly.

He lent down and looked at her.
�You know you�re important to me also Laguz�� He lent down and kissed her on
the lips.

Tejas let her arms hooked round his
neck pulling him down, before he picked her up and she looked up at him starry
eyed.

He laid her down on the bed. �I may
not have much time left Laguz� so I�d like to leave you with a parting gift.�
He smiled down at her.

�Is it chocolate?!� She asked
hopefully.

Homura just laughed. �Only if you
want chocolate involved my dear��

Tejas blinked for a moment before
she blushed suddenly realizing� �Oh� eh-hehe� That must of sounded really stupid��

Homura just laughed and pushed the
hair from her face. �It�s alright my dear.� He just kissed her again and she
wrapped her arms round him drawing him down.

Raido pulled away from Dr. Nii as
he presented her in front of Lady Koushou.

�And who is this half-breed?� She
asked.

�It seems a friend your step-son
has found someone to help him resurrect his mother.� Dr. Nii replied.

Lady Koushou looked at Raido. �Oh
really a spell caster half-breed, what ever is the world coming to?�

Raido looked at the lady on the
throne. �So you�re behind the Gyumou resurrection.� She remarked.

�Yes my dear that would be me. It
seems she�s not well informed as the others of my stepson�s loyal followers.�

Dr. Nii ran a hand down Raido�s
back and she slapped his hand away. �Don�t touch me you creep.� She growled. �I
have no qualms about killing you, you freak.�

�Such a feisty attitude� I want to
see how powerful she really is�� Lady Koushou looked at Dr. Nii. �Take her to
the lab��

Raido pulled at cigarette out of
her pocket and lit it up before looking at the two. �So you are the ones who
mixed science with black magic� figures.� She huffed.

�Now now my dear, come along
peacefully I don�t want to hurt our new specimen.� Dr. Nii smiled at her his
glasses glinting in the reflected light of the room.

Hagalaz appeared round a corner and
he looked about. �Damnit where do I start with this thing?� He grumbled and he
ran a hand through his burgundy hair his red eyes scanning the hallway for a
sign of something to disrupt. �There�s nothing here I can use� If worse comes
to worse I guess I could use the clich酔

Gojyo just turned an empty rubbish
can over and he sat on it. �We�re just suppose to wait I guess.�

�If that�s what Homura wants us to
do.� Hakkai replied. �He�s the only one who can help Raido now.�

*THUNK*

Gojyo�s hand hit a wall making part
of it crumble. �I hate this.�

�You think Homura will help her?
And what about Tejas?� Goku asked drawing circles on the ground.

Cyran sat there on the ground. �Hagalaz
is good at what he does� I�m sure he�ll bring her back both of them if Homura
doesn�t.�

�The question is why is he suddenly
helping us?� Sanzo asked tossing a cigarette butt on to the ground.

�To get stronger, that is all, you
need each other and you push each other in ways that help you improve on
yourselves, it�s for the final battle.� Mannaz replied just standing off to the
side.

�Why are you still here?� Vayu
glared at him.

�I�m here for Perth�s sake and
until your two friends return.� He replied.

�Well aren�t you Mr. Personality.�
Gojyo drawled.

Hakkai just laughed nervously. �Now
now Gojyo it�s okay.�

�Mannaz is the God of personality.�
Cyran replied.

Gojyo looked at the silver haired
god with grey purple eyes before raising an eyebrow. �So you�re telling me this
freak is the God of personality you�ve got to be shitting me, anyone see the
irony in that but me?�

~*~*~*~

Raido sat in the cell provided and
she stubbed out her second cigarette since she got in there.

�Dr. Nii, you have to look at these
results we got.�

He looked over to the female
scientist. �What is it my dear Huang��

�Her blood tests they�ve come back
with a scientific impossibility.� She handed him the paper.

Dr. Nii looked at Raido and she
looked up at him and just smiled. �My my you little sneak, you knew about
this?�

�Bits and odds.� Raido replied.

He knelt in front of the cell and
pointed to the results. �Are you really a quarter demon?� He asked.

Raido smiled and nodded. �Yes my
father was a half-breed with blonde hair and red eyes later though they were
silver.� She replied.

He turned it round and looked at
the results. �And her mind scans show she�s killed over a thousand demons.� The
demon scientist of the group added bringing up the result on his computer.
�Over a thousand and yet she remains as she does��

The three peered at the screen. �My
dear you are simply remarkable� we have to study you more isn�t that right
Wang?�

Raido raised an eyebrow. �Just let
me go.� She spoke firmly.

�No�� Lady Koushou�s voice came
from the door way. �A quarter demon� what else do her mind scans say?�

�She is the Sanzo priestess of the
Henka scripture.� Wang of the trio replied.

Lady Koushou walked up to the bars.
�The sixth scripture of heaven and earth the one that is said to turn day in to
night and bring the dead back to life� where is the scripture? That one alone
could replace the Scripture I had.�

�Sorry it�s not on me.� Raido
smiled.

Lady Koushou looked at her. �Oh I
doubt you would just give it away�� She gripped the bars glaring at Raido. �I�m
going to have fun breaking you my dear��

Raido looked at her. �I don�t
break�� She stated.

�We shall see� bring her, it�s time
for my tests.� Lady Koushou walked out.

Raido watched as she left and the
cell was opened and shackles were clasped on her wrists and she was pulled out
of the lab, she paused seeing Sherekhan watching from down the hallway, Raido
just kept eye contact until Wang shoved her in the back.

�Sorry my dear, but you have to
move along now.�

Raido was led in to a large room and
they left shutting the door after her. The lights above flicked on and she
shielded her eyes from the spotlight and looked up at the four above her in a
stadium.

�What?� She looked around as
several places on the floor opened up and they dropped down lifting back up
several demons and she looked at them as they stood there weapons in hand
glaring at her.

Raido pulled out a cigarette and
lit up pocketing her lighter before she spun round side kicking the first then
jabbing her knee in to the chin of another following through with a round house
to a third and a hook to the fourth and landing in a crouch to only move her
hand to flick ash of the end of her cigarette.

�Simply remarkable.� She heard Dr.
Nii�s voice. �I would expect nothing less from the leader of the female Sanzo
party.�

Raido took a drag of her cigarette
and she looked at the demons as they got up off the ground looking at her
staring strangely.

�Turn her� she would be a good
advantage to use against the Sanzo party. One of you must let her kill you, get
your blood on her!� She shouted.

Raido watched as they charged again
and she jumped up dodging an axe swipe and landed on the tip of the axe before
looking down at him and she flipped off kicking him back then catching the axe
in her other hand and flung it in his direction landing in his head and she
phased from sight as the blood flew and appeared behind another of the demons.

�What is humanity anyway�?� She
remarked to the demon before grabbing him by the head cigarette in mouth and
cracking his neck.

Kougaiji stood at the door of the
entrance of the stands watching her. �What is she? She�s fast��

�Remind you of a certain pink
haired one when she lost her chocolate and thought that someone stole it?� Doku
asked leaning in the doorway.

�She�s not as powerful as Tejas,
not without that scripture, but why doesn�t she use it? She could��

�Unless she doesn�t want to show it
to your step-mother.� Yaone offered.

The three watched as she killed all
the demons on the floor no worries.

�She�s different from before
though�� Doku mused. �Those beads she gave you� I think they were a power
limiter.�

�You�re saying this is her true
strength?� Kougaiji looked up at his old friend.

�She probably had a feeling she was
going to need all the power she could get to get out of here. But she still
hasn�t recovered from earlier, so I doubt this is her true power, she�s
weakened and defenseless��

Yaone looked on. �If this is
weakened my lord then��

�She might just stand a chance
against the monkey.� Kougaiji remarked. �My mother is hoping on it I know beat
the monkey and she can get their scripture, why not use a friend against them
instead of an enemy��

Lady Koushou stood up. �She is
perfect but didn�t I say get blood on her! Break her!� She shouted.

More demons came and Raido tossed
the now cigarette butt off to the side when a cage shot up trapping her inside.
She looked up at Dr. Nii as he held a remote in his hand and he climbed down in
to the stadium.

�That�s called cheating.� She
looked at him through narrowed eyes.

Nii smiled at her. �My dear I never
said this was going to be fair.�

�Touch me and I�ll rip your head
off� and you know I can��

Nii�s glasses glinted. �Oh I�m not
going to touch you...� He grabbed one of the demons and picked up the crescent
moon sword and sliced the demon open before he threw him against the cage.

�HEY!� She cried and looked at the
blood as it came towards her and she shielded herself with her arm and looked
at the blood as it settled on her skin. She doubled over as she felt an incredible
pain surge from inside her and she hit the ground the blood kept coming and she
felt it covering her in thick bursts.

�I must say blood is becoming on
you.

�Screw you ass-hole�� She doubled
over.

�Time to give up your humanity my
dear and join us�� He smiled and dropped the body. Before walking away as the
transformation began.

Yaone covered her mouth as they
watched the transformation from three quarters human to completely demon and
Raido coughed before looking up at the cage confinements, her eyes still the
color red of a half-breed.

�Is she� alright?�

�I don�t know.� Kougaiji looked on.

Back in the stands Dr. Nii removed
the cage and the other demons looked at her. �Try to kill her now!� Koushou
shouted.

The group all charged and
everything became a blur there was nothing but a spray of blood before Raido
emerged and she looked up at them, her breathing deep and low like she was some
sort of animal.

�Insert the mist!� Koushou ordered.

The sound of smoke coming filled
the room and Raido looked over her shoulder at the mist pouring in to the
stadium floor.

Raido stood up and looked at the
mist then at a glass ceiling as it slid over the stadium ground to prevent
those in the seats from being infected. Eyes darting behind her at the mist she
found herself backing up against the wall.

�Megami� no��

She covered her mouth as the mist
floated over her and she held her hand there as long as she could and her eyes
closed before the foul odor passed through her hand and into her breathing air.

The pain began throbbing in her
head and she let go of her mouth her head thrown back as she began letting out
an agonized scream the mist fully surrounding her long claws of nails digging
into the wall behind her.

*ba-dump*

Pain as she felt all her memories
clouded with nothing but black, sending hatred, anger through her entire being.

*ba-dump*

�Make it stop� make it stop!�
her last thought before something pulled her in to the darkness.

�Stop this right now!� A voice
shouted and they looked at the door as it burst open.

�Tejas!� Kougaiji shouted.

�You leave Raido alone!� She
growled and they blinked as Homura appeared next to Raido.

*ba-dump*

Homura looked at her as eyes red
looked up at him in a murderous rage. He dodged the claws as they slashed at
him, striking out at anything moving.

He glided past her and blinked as
he caught the eyes watching the movement.

�Simply astonishing� she can
keep up with me, truly my dear sister, this improvement would make a remarkable
foe indeed.�

She spun round and lunged at him
and he phased out she followed an instant after.

*ba-dump*

Homura appeared on the other side
of the room and Tejas looked on her expression full of shock as a hand went to
her mouth.

She blinked as Raido appeared next
to her and let out a cry as she held her arm round her neck and nail-like-claws
were pointed beside her face.

�My dear Dagas� that is not a way
to treat you friend is it?� Homura glared.

*ba-dump*

Homura raced forward and before
Raido could move Tejas elbowed her in the stomach freeing herself and rolling
out of the way as Homura�s hand slammed over Raido�s forehead as a flash of
golden light left his hand and he placed the beaded bracelet back on her and
she let out a cry as the demon form dispersed and she looked as every bit the
human she had been when they had brought her in.

*ba-dump*

�Raido�� Tejas raced up to her and
Raido held up her hand.

�I�m okay Tejas,� She smiled up at
her, but the smile� Tejas looked at it. �Why does it look so much more like
Hakkai�s smile now more than anything?�

�You can have that chocolate now��
Raido pushed herself up off the ground, she looked at the beaded bracelet. �To
think this hunk of junk can control me and hold the scripture� what am I?�

�Not right now, when we get back to
the others.� Tejas replied.

Homura then phased out. �Where�d he
go?� Koushou shouted as she stood up.

He appeared behind her and he
grabbed her from behind.

�Know this, this affair is above
you� she is my sister� you come after her again, I will have no qualms about hurting
you.�

The entire castle began to shake
violently Homura appeared next to Raido and Tejas. �That would be Hagalaz
providing us with an exit.� He smiled and he put his arms around both of them
before phasing out.

~*~*~*~

The three appeared back in the city
center and Homura let them go and Tejas looked up at him. �Thank-you for saving
Raido��

�She is my sister after all Laguz.
I�ve seen her suffer enough.� He touched her hair. �Now you take care of her,
she�s going to need some serious healing.� Homura then vanished from sight.

Raido looked at the group of them
then down at her own body, her clothes and skin covered in blood and she held
up her own hands.

�It�s so� red�� She blinked for a
moment. �I�m sorry grandpa, I guess I have become a monster�� Her knees bent as
she felt herself go lightheaded.

�Raido!� Gojyo was by her side and
she crumpled and he caught her he pulled his hand back to look at the blood.
�C�mon honey, hey are you okay?� He looked up at Tejas. �What happened what did
they do to her pixie?!� He demanded.

Tejas looked down. �I don�t know
all of it, but when I got there, she�d slaughtered so many and she was
different��

�Different how?� Sanzo looked at
her.

�Demon a full blooded demon.� Tejas
replied as she looked down. �She� was out of control� and she could follow
Homura�s movements with ease. I haven�t seen anything like it before, she
didn�t recognize me��

�That sounds awful familiar like
when Goku took off his power limiter.� Hakkai mused.

Gojyo looked at Raido as he picked
her up. �You listen here honey, I�m not letting you die on me I didn�t let
Hakkai I�m not letting you.�

Raido opened her eyes and looked at
him he caught that look that familiar sad Hakkai look when he thought about his
past. �It caught up to me� They trapped me he made sure to spill blood on me��

�They wanted to infect her with the
black mist!� Tejas announced.

�It didn�t work the first time what
made them think it would work this time?� Vayu looked at her.

�Because she�d already snapped.�
Tejas replied.

Gojyo looked at Sanzo. �We�re
staying here til she�s better and if you don�t want to then to hell with you,
you can go.�

Sanzo glared at him. �You want to
stay in a town of demons that did that to her in the first place?�

�Sanzo it wasn�t their fault.�
Hakkai reasoned. �The mist turned them.�

Goku looked at Sanzo. �Sanzo we
killed them all though, there�s no one left in the town.�

Hakkai looked at Sanzo. �We could
grab some supplies while we wait to, and it would be good for Fafnir and
Hakaryu to have a break.�

Sanzo just sighed. �Fine we�ll stay
here� longer.�

Mannaz stepped forward. �There�s no
need for me to hang around. Good luck in your journey.� With that he vanished.

�Man I hate that guy.� Gojyo
grumbled in complaint. �Even the monk has more personality than he does.� He
looked to Raido. �I�m going to clean you up priestess� it�ll be okay.�

She looked at him and he caught her
looking at the blood on her hands. �Thank-you Gojyo�� She whispered.

Cyran watched Gojyo head back to
the hotel. �Well that sucks.� She remarked. �So we gotta make sure she keeps
that power limiter on all the time now don�t we?�

�She had no choice before either,
her grandfather�s wishes, if you saw what she was able to do with it off, you�d
understand, she could gut a demon so fast that she wouldn�t get blood on her,
the speed was incredible.� Vayu remarked.

Goku blinked. �Really she�s that
fast?! WOW!� He jumped up and down arms waving about. �I wonder if we can
spar?!�

Tejas shook her head. �Not anymore
I�m worried if she takes it off, she�ll be lost to us, like I used to be.� She
looked to the side.

�That was an un-Tejas comment.�
Hakkai remarked.

�Goddess side coming through.�
Tejas replied. �Just seeing her like that� seeing the end result of what they
did� it�s cruel and cold, she�s got to live with that now, live with the fact
that she is a demon, and she tried so hard too to make sure she didn�t become
one.�

Goku blinked and he looked up at
Tejas and she smiled at him before hugging him. �Now lets eat I�m reallllllly
hungry!�

�WOOOOOOO!!!� Goku cheered.

The two raced off towards the
marketplace to help themselves to the free food left lying about.

Cyran sighed. �Well at least we
know Laguz is still in there somewhere� but I bet Homura has something to do
with that serious moment.� She mused out loud.

�Trust me you DON�T wanna know what
happened there�� Vayu coughed. �Unless you�re a true pervert like the Kappa.�

Cyran laughed. �Nuff said.�
