Sleep Over!
Title: Sleep Over!!!
Author: Jigoku no Miko
Author’s Quote: Doesn’t expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
The 6 all crawled on their knees outside of Nuriko’s house. A small red light in the sky caught Tasuki’s attention and he turned to look at it.
“Incoming!” He whispered realizing it was Miaka and Taka returning before catching the girl.
“Good catch no da.” Chichiri whispered before Taka crashed in some bushes next to them. “And welcome back Tamahome.”
“W-where?” Miaka stuttered.
“Miaka, it’s good to see you back.” Hotohori whispered.
“Hotohori! Everyone!” She cried.
“Shh. Not so loud no da.”
“We’re about to play thieves here.” Chiriko stated kneeling behind Miaka.
“Kind of stupid though breaking into my own house.” Nuriko rolled his eyes.
“You mean this is your home Nuriko? You’re breaking in? Oh Nuriko and Chiriko!”
“SHHH! SHHH!” Chichiri and Tasuki ushered at the same time.
“So you say a weeks passed since we left?” Taka questioned.
“I don’t just Say it passed, who’s jewels do you think we’ve been looking for huh?” Tasuki cried trying to make him feel guilty.
“And you found Nuriko’s stone?” Miaka questioned.
“Well…” Hotohori stuttered.
“It’s my big brother you see.” Nuriko started.
“At first he let us burn incents for Nuriko’s soul no da. But than Tasuki…” Chichiri trailed off.
“I couldn’t help it. To see Nuriko doing that in a serious atmosphere was too much.” Tasuki defended himself.
“Yeah so much you couldn’t keep your big trap shut.” Kana muttered under her breath.
“But when I realized I was in my own house and to see you guys praying for me with such serious looks. I was kind of embarrassed at first.” Nuriko blushed lightly.
“So you spoiled his impression of us huh?” Taka questioned glaring at Tasuki.
“Why are you glarin’ at me?” Tasuki held up his fan in defense.
“So Rokou has the stone?” Miaka questioned confused.
“No, it’s right here.” Nuriko shook his head before poitning out a crystal ball.
“It’s a crystal ball.”
“It’s been a treasure of mine since I was little. They say the dead come back and live in these during the Chuugen festival. I thought it was strange that its color had changed and then I found the jewel inside.” Nuriko whispered letting his gaze settle over the shiny ball easily.
“We were rash and tried to break it open immediately no da.”
“Honestly… my brother is such a baka.” Nuriko shook his head.
“I know how Rokou feels but right now Tamahome is more important.” Chiriko piped in from next to Hotohori and Nuriko.
“Exactly, if we move too slowly than what’ll we do if he ends up vanishing?” Hotohori questioned.
“Tasuki… I don’t care just break it.” Nuriko closed his eyes and shook his head.
“You’re sure?”
“Yes, he’s never going to change. Ever since we were little he’s been the little cry babay always having to be saved by his little brother. He has to get over it, he has to except that I’m dead! Right now Tamahome’s jewel is more important.”
“Nuriko…” Miaka whispered.
“Alright than, Miaka give the crystal to Taka okay?” Tasuki ordered.
“So you can fry me along with it?” Taka glared at him.
“I’m just going to hit the ball.” Tasuki snapped back. Miaka picked up the crystal ball but as soon as it was in Taka’s hand a bright purple light engulfed him and a demon appeared.
“TAKA!” Miaka yelled frightened.
“Tamahome!” Chichiri cried before running over and putting a hand on Taka’s chest.
“What’s going on? A monster’s in Taka now?” Tasuki questioned.
“TAKA!” Miaka cried again.
“Miaka stay back you musn’t touch him! This isn’t just from a spell being cast.” Chichiri noted as the crystal rolled oiut of Taka’s hand and across the floor.
“What are you all doing here?” Rokou questioned stepping out of one of the doors that lead out of the room obviously into his bedroom. “What was that monster just now?”
“Oh crap…” Tasuki murmered.
“I won’t give this to any friends of monsters now get out! Get out!” Rokou yelled clutching the crystal in his hands. “If you won’t leave than I will!” Rokou walked out the front door onto the balcony. “Someone! Somebody bring my carriage!” He yelled before two attendants came rushing down the verranda.
“Lord Rokou what’s going on?” One of the attendants questioned.
“I’m going to the temple to ask Buddha to protect this crystal.” Rokou stated walking down the walkway.
“So that woman planted that monster inside of your body?” Hotohori questioned.
“That’s really playing dirty.” Nuriko growled.
“I’m sorry I was careless, I never thought that girl could.” Taka choked.
“Chichiri it’s all set.” Chiriko stated from behind him.
“What is that?” Tasuki yelled.
“It’s a spell to seal the demond, if I can cast a barrier with it and use Hiotohori’s holy sword along with our powers I can silence the monster inside of Tamahomes body.” Chichiri explained.
“Will Tamahome’s body be hurt by this?” Nuriko questioned.
“A celestial warrior has far more reziliance to pain than a normal person but…” Chiriko whispered.
“But he’s not even a full strength celestial warrior right now!” Nuriko yelled. Unknowingly Miaka and Tasuki slipped out and headed to the temple where Rokou was. Chichiri, Hotohori, Chiriko and Kana all set up the barrier around Taka to contain the monster within Tamahome, who stirred in the barrier.
“It’s no use I can’t contain it.” Chiriko whispered watching his hand float righ through Taka’s shin.
“It’s not your fault Chiriko.” Chichiri shook his head.
“That’s right, all I can do is lend Tamahome some of my life energy.” Hotohori also closed his eyes.
“Am I invisible?” Kana questioned from where she sat to the side watching the three. Her face had gotten a deathly pale and she was clammy.
“I didn’t want to push you, you don’t look so good.” Chichiri whispered watching her as she stood and walked over to stand next to the barrier.
“Well gee honey you look great too.” She mocked.
“That’s not what I meant.”
“I know what you meant so what do I need to do?” She questioned looking at Tamahome.
“He’s squirming, just hold him down.” Chichiri whispered before Kana kneeled inside the barrier and put her hands on Tamahomes calfs. The minute her hands touched him she felt something warm but after a second she was engrossed in pain. Clenching her teeth she tried to withstand it but it just got more painful forcing her to scream out loud before she was flung backwards across the room and into a wall.
“Kana!” Chichiri whispered as the girl lie against the wall unconscious. Suddenly the door flung open and Nuriko stood in the doorway.
“Sorry for the wait.” He smiled holding Miaka and Tasuki in his arms while his brother sat next to him.
“Nuriko.” Chiriko whispered.
“I brought my brother and the stone too, along with Miaka and this useless jerk.” He joked nodding to Tasuki.
“How humiliating.” Tasuki hung his head.
“Hey what happened to her?” Tasuki questioned nodding to Kana.
“She tried to hold down Tamahome when he was squirming and got flung across the room.” Chichiri explained in a worried voice.
“She’s unconscious alright.” Chiriko noted standing up from where he had been kneeling next to her. Quickly Miaka explained her idea and explained what had happened on the trail with the snake.
“Draw the creature out from the wound?” Chichiri echoed.
“Isn’t that dangerous?” Hotohori wondered aloud looking at Tamahome than to Miaka.
“Yeah what if it ends up inside of you next?” Nuriko added.
“If Miaka gets hurt Tamahome will…” Chiriko started shaking his head in disagreement.
“Exactly he can’t take it in this condition no da.”
“I… can take it. I don’t know how but I will Miaka if it means I can hold you again.” Tamahome whispered with a faint and painful smile. Miaka closed her eyes before turning to face Nuriko.
“Nuriko please, please.”
“These bracelets are the only thing holding you down, but I’m being careful so I’m not as strong as I usually am so try not to get too wild okay?” Nuriko stated putting his arms under Tamahome’s so the bracelets were on his shoulders.
“Right… I’ll do my best.” Tamahome nodded faintly.
“Miaka.” Nuriko whispered before Miaka walked over and attempted to suck the poison out of his ear as he yelled in pain.
“Hang in there you idiot.” Tasuki yelled holding Tamahome’s leg.
“Taka!” Miaka yelled as he pulled out of her grasp.
“Tasuki you’re in no condition for this!” Hotohori demanded.
“I know but I’ll take it.” Tasuki reassured them before Taka kicked him in the face sending him flying across the room and into a wall.
“Taka please hang on.” Miaka pleaded.
“Big brother, big brother you can hear me can’t you. Help us please, you’re the only one who can!” Nuriko yelled over his shoulder while trying to hold down Taka and not hurt him.
“Ryuen, I… I can’t do it. I don’t have that , kind of strength.” Rokou whispered clenching the crystal ball tightly against his chest. It was then Chiriko appeared behind Rokou glowing red and looking a little more than his share of anger. Once Rokou turned to see him Chiriko went charging at him and tried to combine with him.
“Chiriko no! You can’t possess someone who’s heart is not open to you!” Chichiri yelled before Rokou began to scream along with Chiriko who was inside of him. Chiriko was flung out of Rokou’s body and did a backwards sommersalt landing on his stomach on the floor. Rokou doubled over and leaned on his hands dropping the crystal ball.
“Even though you live. Even though you live you won’t go on. Why can’t you change places with me?! Please let me into you. You’re a disgrace… I think you’re a disgrace!” Chiriko yelled.
“Chiriko.” Chichiri whispered before Kana kneeled next to Chiriko and put her hand on his shoulder. At feeling someones touch Chiriko turned quickly and looked into Kana’s pale and clammy face.
“It’s okay, you tried.” She whispered rubbing his back soothingly. Suddenly Tamahome let out a loud scream and began to wrestle forcing everyones attention on him.
“He’s biting his tongue!” Nuriko yelled continuing to restrain him before his tension eased. Nuriko looked down to see Rokou with his teeth in Tamahome’s wrist. “Anaki.” Nuriko whispered out of surprisement of seeing his brother helping.
“I knew… I knew you were gone but, no matter where I search I’ll never find youThey say you were honerable. That you died bravely. Yet why can’t I accept it? They say you rest peacefully in the snow but I couldn’t see your body to grieve for you. All I knew was that you were dead. And all I wanted to do was embrace you again. Hold you and just cry and weep for as long as I neeeded to. And yet I was denied even that wish.” Rokou explained holding Nuriko’s arm band. Nuriko twisted his wrist and interlocked his fingers with Rokous.
“Anaki.” Nuriko whispered as he came into focus.
“Ryuen.” Rokou whispered. “Are you there Ryuen? You and I may look alike…” While Rokou continued with his speech Miaka sucked the poison out of the wound on Tamahome’s wrist and Hotohori killed the demon that appeared.
“Yet we are so very different. Your heart, your strength… are so powerful. I’m pathetic. I hoped to one day start acting like a big brother to you but before I could you were gone.” Nuriko propped his brothers elbow up on his arm band. “Has this made me a bit stronger? Can I still go on being your big brother?”
“What are you talking about you’ve always been my big brother. Don’t worry you’re stronger now. You’re a fool, you’re really such a fool.” Nuriko whispered as Miaka cradled Taka in her arms as did Chichiri with Kana who had passed shortly after the demon was killed by Hotohori. Tasuki took the advantage and used his tessen on the crystal making Tamahome regain his memories of Nuriko.
“Nuriko I remember what you said about the tough times making us stronger and some day we’ll beable to look back and laugh about them. It’s true isn’t it Nuriko?” Taka stated before he found himself confronted by three Poed spirits.
“Yeah that’s right if you live through it.” Nuriko smirked.
“Why must you keep pointing out the fact that your alive and we’re dead?” Hotohori demanded giving him an evil glare.
“Would you like to join our little club Tamahome?” Chiriko inquired eyeing him.
“No, no that’s not it.” Taka shook his head as he sweatdropped.
“Hey, can we call it quits for tonight?” Tasuki questioned.
“Of course, I’ll have room set up at once.” Rokou smiled.
“Yeah sleepover, sleepover!” Nuriko cried with a girlish grin.
“I don’t get it why do you guys always get your own room?” Tasuki yelled after everyone was settled.
“You’re hurt keep the volume down!” Nuriko yelled.
“Tamahome and Miaka have an exception.” Chiriko explained.
“Come along Tasuki I will tell you all about my wonderful son Boushin.” Hotohori offered.
“No thanks.” Tasuki crossed his arms over his chest.
“You’re really obnoxious no da. I wish another poisonous snake would bite you no da.” Chichiri stated jokingly.
“Oh Chichiri.” Miaka laughed.
“Very funny, you know I bet if Kana were awake she’d be on my side.” He defended himself before Kana stirred.
“No, I’d have to say I’m with Chichiri on this one, sorry Tasuk.” Kana sat up from a bed made up on the floor Chichiri had put her in to rest earlier.
“How are you feeling?” Chichiri questioned kneeling next to her.
“Okay, I guess.” She shrugged and set the blanket aside.
“Don’t go moving around too much and hurt yourself.” He whispered as they stood at the same time and he put his hands on her shoulders.
“I’m fine, the demon’s gone and I’m better everything’s fin… ugh.” Before Kana could finish her statement she clutched her chest and fell but luckily Chichiri caught her by the shoulders.
“Kana? Kana!” He shook her lightly.
“He’s here, go, ugh.” She finished sliding to the floor and Chichiri finally picked up on Tenko’s energy.
“What is it Chichiri?” Hotohori questioned.
“It’s him no da.” Chichiri whispered before looking back to Kana who was shaking.
“GO!” She yelled before Chichiri, Hotohori, and Tasuki all left the room. Stepping onto the veranda Nuriko and Rokou stepped out of another door.
“What’s going on now?” Nuriko questioned floating above and behind Rokou.
“It came from Miaka and Tamahome’s room.” Chichiri stated before they all took of for the two’s room.
“What is this place? What happened to this room?” Nuriko demanded once they walked in the door.
“It’s a demon world no da.”
“This is all his doing.” Hotohori stated looking at the barely visible picture of Tenko.
“You mean Tamahome and Miaka are in there?” Chiriko questioned.
The four watched as the four jewels of memory were taken from Tamahome and as Miaka grew enraged with him.
“No Miaka, you musn’t let what he’s saying get to you.” Chichiri stated attempting to break through the barrier.
“Chichiri can’t you break through this barrier?” Hotohori questioned wishing he would have gotten through it already.
“Try to control your emotions Miaka, he wants them. He draws his energy from peoples negative emotions.” Chichiri stated before Hotohori used his holy sword.
“Here your highness I can to do it.” Nuriko stated before taking Hotohori’s sword and lunging it through the barrier and straight at Tenko. In the blink of an eye he pulled Miisu in front of him, who had planted the demon in Tamahome, and used her as a shield forcing the sword to stab her and then throwing her to the ground like a rag doll. Another man with purple hair appeared lying on the ground a few feet away from Miisu. She crawled towards him continuously calling his name, Ren, before she collapsed and disappeared in a flash of purple flames among with the boy. A bright red light flashed out before Tenko’s laughter bellowed through the air and the whole demon world disappeared leaving Miaka standi9ng in the middle of the room and Taka lying on the ground, the other still stood in the doorway.
“Come on lets leave them alone.” Nuriko whispered before closing the doors. Looking around he realized Chichiri wasn’t around. “Hey where’d Chichiri go?”
“I think he went to check on Kana, she’s been getting really sick lately.” Hotohori explained as the others looked at him confused. Back at the room Tasuki, Hotohori and Chichiri all came from Kana leaned up against the wall with her knees pressed to her chest as her breathing slowed and she calmed down.
“Kana?” Chichiri whispered looking at the girl leaning up against the wall.
“Hey, is everything okay?” She forced a smile to protect herself from him questioning her.
“Yeah everyone’s fine. Kana I know you and I know you know what’s going on so please tell me.” He whispered before she stood and remained leaning against the wall.
“I’m fine Chichiri, can’t I have a dizzy spell once in a while?” Kana flipped her hair over her shoulder and rolled her eyes.
“Bull, please tell me.” Chichiri stood in front of her, even with that mask on she could tell he was pleading with his eyes and she shook her head.
“Maybe later, I don’t know if I can talk about it.” She shook her head before looking back up to him. “Gomen.” Chichiri pulled her close and sat his head on top of hers.
“Alright later.” he whispered.
“Arrigato.” Kana murmurred snuggling close to his chest as the rocked back and forth. “Chichiri I have a question though.” He pulled away from her and looked down into her questioning gaze.
“What is it?”
“Well back and Mt. Taikyoku Taiitsukun said their were seven jewels of memory but that doesn’t make any sense… there’s only you, Tasuki, Nuriko, Hotohori, Mitsukake, and Chiriko. Who’s the seventh jewel from?” He just looked at her for a moment before tapping her on the nose.
“Who do you think?”
“Miaka?”
“No.”
“It can’t be me…” He cocked an eyebrow at her questioningly.
“Why can’t it?”
“Well, I’m not a seishi!” She crossed her arms in a dignified huff of irritation.
“Tough luck there girly… you have the seventh jewel.”
“Than where is it?”
“That I don’t know… but when we find it we find it.”
“That’s reassuring…” She rolled her eyes before he kissed her.
