Chapter and Story Names
~!~!~!~!~!~
Truth and Justice
The name is meant to focus on the fact that the characters are searching for truth and Light, at least, is struggling with his own idea of Justice, even if I don't come out and say it at any point in the series. He has to find the balance between who he's become and who he was, he has to get a better grasp on his idea of Justice as he fights between being a zebra and a tiger.
~!~!~!~!~!~
1. Escape
Pretty point-blank here. Near escapes from prison.
2. Innocence
The fact that Near is actually innocent is implied here, and that was the main focus of the chapter.
3. Setup
Because that's what this whole chapter was. A setup for the next, and for the development of the story. I really couldn't think of a good name, so I chose this one because it could also be taken to mean that Near was setting Light up for disaster and throw the reader off a bit. We all know how much I love doing that.
4. Setback
This is a reference to Near bringing up the rape case and forcing Light to start facing it all over again. This sets off a large amount of mental instability in Light and plays a large role later in the story. The fact that his mental state isn't the best is part of why he finds reformation after his kidnapping. (No, he wasn't actually, truly reformed before. He still had the 'if I hadn't been raped I'd still be a god' thing going on in his head.)
5. Flashback
A reference to the return of Light's flashbacks. I was having a lot of trouble thinking up chapter names in this part of the story. My mind was already a few chapters ahead, so I was having trouble keeping my brain on the story's present.
6. Victimized
Light had fallen back into the victim mindset, despite his intense grilling of Mikami, this chapter was used to show that, as well as to introduce Mikami towards the end.
7. Righteous
Because that's what Mikami thinks he is until Light pwns him. =3
8. Silhouette
The information about the negatives from the silhouettes is a big lead and pushes the investigation forward.
9. Abduction
Because this is when Light gets abducted. As if you didn't see that explanation coming.
10. Ownership
There is a lot of talk about ownership of Death Notes in this chapter, and B insinuates that L 'owns' Light.
11. Preparation
L prepares for his last resort to save Light from B.
12. Nothingness
Light visits Mu for a good part of the chapter, and this is a reference to it.
13. Life
Light gets yet another chance at it, and this covers the beginnings of his recovery from the physical portion of his injuries.
14. Balance
A reference to the fact that order is restored between the Shinigami Realm and the human world at the end of the chapter. Also, that the true Kira has been put in prison.
15. Family
Light has to face his family in this chapter, and begins to truly regard Wammy as a father-in-law.
16. Climate
This refers to the way that the world's political climate plays into the story heavily during the chapter.
17. Fatherhood
Wammy passes the title of Watari on to L and Light in this chapter, while we readers get a good look at Wammy's role as a father to the orphans. It also refers to Watari's eulogy and epitaph.
18. Doppelganger
A reference to the copycat kidnapper that Light helps apprehend in this chapter. The criminal wasn't focused on much because he was just an excuse for Light to wind up alone with Near for a little while. XD So they could do the Tiger Zebra thing.
19. Calling
This has more to do with the philosophical babble at the end of the chapter than it does with the actual story part of it. It focuses on Wammy's calling in life, and the way he passed it on to all the orphans that came under his care.

Mikami and the Death Eraser: A Full Explanation
~!~!~!~!~!~
This deals heavily with the pilot chapter included in Volume 13: How to Read.
The cover page of the pilot chapter clearly states that "names have been changed to protect the innocent."
No year or dates are given in the pilot chapter, however, the main character, Kagami Taro is 13. The time gap at the end of the chapter, when it shows him as a young man, is seven years. That makes Kagami 20 at the end of the pilot chapter.
This is where thinks get a little sketchy. You have to ignore all the Death Note media around Kagami at the end of the pilot chapter and stretch your imagination a little bit to believe that he could look like Mikami in a year or two and give him glasses.
However, once you do that, the rest falls into place. Mikami was born in 1982. Light picked up the Death Note in November, 2003. 1982 plus twenty is 2002. In chapter 84 of the manga, it is said that Mikami became a prosecutor just before Kira emerged on the scene in 2003. That gives him plenty of time for college and board exams.
Thus, Kagami Taro could, with a little nudging, fit the profile of Teru Mikami and explain why, in canon, that those he felt could not be rehabilitated wound up dead. It then gives me access to the Death Eraser, a key component in this story.
There were two rules I ignored in order to make it work. One, stating that "It is useless to try to erase names written in the Death Note with erasers or to white them out" and the final rule at the end of chapter 108, "Once dead, they can never come back to life".

Review Reponses
~!~!~!~!~!~
Just like the last one, the reviews will be replied to here with the oldest at the top.
Selim: Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked the ending and the play on words. ^^; I'm especially glad that the characterization came off well. I'll be starting on two new pieces related to this one soon. One will be Matt/Mello centric and the other will be a collection of short pieces about the deaths of individual characters. The how, the when, their emotional responses, stuff like that.
Adele: I know! I love and hate ending stories so much. I always miss them when I'm done. Haha, I'm glad you liked the part with Near. I thought it was pretty important to show that Near wasn't angry or bitter over what happened, but at the same time, Near never liked Light in canon. That's why I made it one of those 'I'm going to annoy the shit out of you whenever I help you out' kind of thing. ^^ It seemed to me that it would fit Near's personality. I always like to end my stories on a positive note, especially since I always feel so bittersweet by the time I get there.
Viridian Kat: Yes! I'm so proud! XD Haha, I actually don't like Near very much myself, though he plays a decently strong role in the companion-stories, Motive and Mayhem and Hell and Healing. And shhhhhh. I haven't decided what I'm gonna do with Near yet in Hell and Healing. XD I'm still toying with the idea of sticking him with Mello at some point. Thank you~!
~!~!~!~!~!~
A/N: And another long story, finished! I really enjoyed it, and I hope that a whole bundle of people get as much enjoyment out of it as I did. ^-^
