Having used his leave that had accumulated over the years, Tsuna was trying to deal with his own stress; it was a demanding enough job doing what he did, but when things like patients killing dogs occurred...
Well, it was a whole other ball game.
Fran had been too scared to go back to the facility, instead wanting to stay with Tsuna, so with promises that the brunet would go back to get Mukuro as soon as the brunet could, the boy had been sitting silently in the house, never saying a word, let alone venturing far from the couch; it was where he felt safest, having spent so much time on it with the blue-haired man by his side.
Gokudera, who was staying the nights in Tsuna’s room while the brunet slept in the living room with Fran, spent the majority of his days in his wheelchair, not wanting to be a burden and have to have the younger move him around all the time, so the teal-haired patient more often than not had plenty of room on the couch.
It had been only two days since the attack on Fran and Jiro, and the Varia patient hadn’t heard anything regarding the facility or the people there; he wondered what was going to happen to the two assailants, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to know; just thinking about them was enough to bring him back to tears.
Now, emerald eyes watched as Tsuna came back into the living room, his hair tousled from his nap. The boy’s hands started to shake as the two older males conversed, his mouth going dry; he still wasn’t used to being around others without Mukuro by his side.
“I don’t know, Tenth...” Gokudera looked to his lap, his body slumping as if he were upset about something. “...I’ll only be a hassle...”
“You can’t stay cooped up inside all day, Gokudera-kun.” Tsuna was as soft as usual as he spoke, having always been happiest around the older male; they had been each other’s first friends. “Just come out for lunch with us for a while; after that, we’ll go and get Uri for you.”
Fran watched for a few minutes more as Tsuna tried to convince his friend to come out, and eventually, the taller male had given in.
“Alright, Tenth...” Looking down at the wheelchair he felt was his own personal prison, Gokudera sighed. “But this stupid thing...”
“It won’t be a burden, Gokudera-kun.” Looking over to Fran, Tsuna offered his gentlest smile. “Fran, go jump in the shower, okay? We’re going to go and have lunch in town today. I’ll wash your clothing for you while you’re cleaning up, and while we’re in town, we’ll go and buy you some sets to keep here, alright? You can even take some back to the facility to wear when you go back, instead of having to wash the two sets you already own every day.”
Fran nodded, knowing that sounded like a good idea; he hated having to sit with the towel wrapped around him until his clothes dried off. He stood up from the couch in a shaky manner, glancing warily at the two before he headed off to the hallway to use the bathroom.
“Aren’t you going to supervise him, Tenth?” Gokudera found it strange that, though Fran was a suicidal patient and required constant supervision, Tsuna was letting him go off on his own.
“He’s fine,” the brunet promised. “I cleared out the bathroom when I first started bringing them home, so there’s nothing in there he can hurt himself with, and I’ve limited the temperature; he can’t burn himself. He leaves the door open enough for me to look into to make sure he’s okay, so I trust he’ll be alright without supervision.”
“What if he drowns himself in there?”
“Highly unlikely, Gokudera-kun. He always showers with Mukuro, so he isn’t used to being watched; it’ll frighten him with everything he’s been through.”
“Yamamoto watched him when he was at our house.” The silver-haired man frowned at the thought of his lover before he continued on. “The brat didn’t seem all that bothered; as long as Yamamoto left him alone, he was fine.”
“Yamamoto has always been best with the patients; it’s his nature that makes them feel so at ease around him.”
Gokudera nodded in agreement before he turned back to the TV, not entirely sure what they were watching; Fran had been the one with the remote, and he had flicked through all of the channels until he had found some sort of wildlife documentary; it wasn’t surprising that after what the boy had lived through, he felt more comfort around animals than he did people.
“Wouldn’t Spanner and Shoichi be at work if you were going to go and get Uri, Tenth?” Green eyes fixed on Gokudera’s friend, only just now thinking about that; with only Hibari and the two Millefiore staff on duty, it was near impossible for the skylark to give everyone have time off.
“They should be, but with what happened, they’re staying home to get Belphegor away from it all until Hibari-san decides what to do with Rasiel and Byakuran.” Tsuna bristled in a sudden surge of anger at the thought of the two patients, knowing he would never forgive them for Jiro’s untimely death. “The other patients are doing well enough for Hibari-san to handle it alone for now.”
“I see...” Sighing, Gokudera wasn’t sure he was looking forward to going out for lunch; it bruised his pride greatly to be seen like this, knowing just how weak and pathetic and guilty of it all he was – he just wanted to stay inside and never be seen by anyone but Tsuna again.

When the three had finally arrived at the little cafe Tsuna and Gokudera had agreed upon, Fran was reluctant to get out of the car; there were so many people around, and he wasn’t sure he’d be able to walk through those hordes without being touched.
Keeping himself tucked safely away in the backseat of Tsuna’s car, he watched as the brunet unfolded the wheelchair by the side of the car. Gokudera was still sitting in the front, waiting patiently for his friend to help him out of the vehicle and back into the wheelchair.
When at last it was Fran’s turn, he simply undid his seatbelt and scooted further into the car, shaking off Tsuna’s touches. Turning his head to the side, the boy whimpered, “N-no...”
“Don’t you want to come inside and have something to eat?” Tsuna was gentle as he tried to coax the younger out of the car, knowing this would be a frightening thing for the boy, but it was also needed to help him recover and start to live his life again. “There’s lots of food to pick from, and you can drink anything you want as well.”
Ducking his head, Fran raised a trembling arm to point at the passersby. “...”
“I know you’re scared of people, Fran, but they’re not going to hurt you. They’re just going about their own business, and I can guarantee you that at least some of those people are as afraid of you as you are of them.”
Fran cocked his head to the side at this, not understanding; if they were scared as well, why would they be walking in crowds? Wouldn’t they be back home, hiding away from the world like Fran did? “...?”
“I’m sure it’s hard to comprehend, but just because you’re scared of people, you don’t have to avoid them.” Tsuna moved to sit down in the car, keeping on the other end as to not make the boy feel as if he were being crowded. “You’ll only become worse if you do; you have to come out and mix with other people, at least for a little while. Please? Come have lunch with us and see if you feel a little better.”
Fran was hesitant, but he eventually allowed for the brunet to grab his hand in a gentle manner and tug him back out of the car. He shivered as the door was closed behind him, listening to the soft beeping as the car locked.
“Come on, Fran.” Tsuna pushed the wheelchair along, walking slowly so that Fran could stick close to his side. He waited until there was a break from all the people before he asked the boy to hold the door open so that he could wheel Gokudera into the cafe. Fran was quick to dart inside behind them, his body pressing against the brunet’s as he gripped the back of the man’s jacket tightly.
Inside the cafe, Tsuna wheeled his friend over to one of the tables before he turned to Fran. “Fran, do you want to stay here with him while I go order?”
The teal-haired male nodded. He moved to pull one of the chairs out from beneath the table, sitting in silence. His emerald eyes watched the older two talk for a half a minute before they turned to him, questioning looks in their gazes.
“What do you want?” Tsuna waited patiently for the youngest to speak, knowing not to expect too much from him so soon.
Blinking, Fran turned to look up at the menu board. He frowned, trying to decipher what was written on it, but he quickly grew frustrated at the knowledge that he couldn’t read this language.
Instead, turning to the brunet, Fran asked for something he knew could be found in cafes. “...M-milkshake...”
“What about something to eat?” Pulling out a chair to sit next to his patient, Tsuna was prepared to wait a while, knowing what Fran was like; he’d be surprised if the youngest even answered this question.
Sighing, emerald eyes fixed back on the writing he didn’t understand in the first place. He didn’t want to admit he couldn’t read anything but a little bit of his own native French, but if Tsuna kept pressing...
“...” Licking his lips, Fran whispered, “...W-what do they have...?”
“Just look at the menu!” Gokudera was no help, his impatient nature annoyed by the boy’s need of assistance. “It’s right in front of you!”
“Gokudera-kun!” Tsuna gave the older male a disapproving look before he turned back to Fran. “It’s alright, Fran. If you look up at that menu, it will list everything they sell, alright? I don’t mind waiting for you to pick.”
Fran made a frustrated noise, shifting uneasily before he looked away. “...”
“What’s wrong, Fran?” Tsuna knew such an explanation shouldn’t call for anxiety in the other; it wasn’t as if he were being asked to go out and socialise after all.
“...” Whining quietly, Fran pulled away when Tsuna moved to put his hand on the smaller male’s shoulder. He focused his attention out of the window, hoping that Tsuna would get the idea that he didn’t want to talk anymore.
It was then Tsuna clicked; from their records, Fran had attended school, but with his background, it would be no surprise if the younger had struggled through all of his classes – in fact, it would be expected. “Can you not read the menu?”
“...” Tensing at the question, Fran refused to look the other’s way, but he didn’t have to reply for Tsuna to know that he was right in his assumption.
“I’ll get you something nice to try,” the therapist promised, smiling softly at the boy. “If you don’t like it, I’ll get you something else.”
Fran sent a wary gaze to Tsuna before he nodded, tensing further. He didn’t speak as the other stood up and moved to order, leaving he and Gokudera in silence. He flinched when, just a few minutes later, a white bag was placed in front of him, having not expected for such a thing.
“It’s a sausage roll.” Placing two more bags down in front of himself and Gokudera, Tsuna pointed to Fran’s bag. “I think you’ll like it. There’s a sachet of sauce in there, too, and your milkshake is on the way.”
The boy nodded, grabbing hesitantly at the bag with trembling fingers. He opened it and peeked in, finding food inside. He glanced up at the two men fearfully before he reached in, pulling the food out. It didn’t look very appetising to him, but he was hungry, so he raised it to his lips.
Nibbling tentatively at the food, Fran decided it tasted good enough to keep eating. He froze as a waitress came over with his milkshake, only to continue eating again once she had left.
While Gokudera and Tsuna talked quietly amongst themselves, Fran listened to them. He stared out of the window, watching everyone pass by, happy that the older two knew he wanted to be left alone; he was happy sipping away at his milkshake as he daydreamed.
It was Tsuna standing up that startled Fran’s attention back onto them. He frowned as the brunet pulled the wheelchair away from the table, scurrying to his feet before he was left behind.
“W-wait...!” Fran curled his fingers into the older male’s jacket, pressing his chest against Tsuna’s back. “D-don’t leave me...!”
“I wasn’t going to,” the brunet swore. He patted teal hair before he turned back to Gokudera, pulling the older male away further. “Have you finished your meal, Fran?” When he was answered by a shake of the smaller male’s head, Tsuna smiled. “Go grab it; you can eat it in the car.”
Fran nodded, quickly reaching out to clutch his bag tight to his chest. He glued himself back to his therapist’s side as the older two started moving again, hiding behind them as they pushed through the awaiting hordes on the way back to Tsuna’s car.
Getting into the backseat once again, Fran waited patiently for Tsuna to help the silver-haired male into the front of the car before folding the wheelchair down and placing it into the trunk again.
When at last Tsuna got back into the car and started the motor, he turned around to address Fran solely. “We’ll go get you some clothing and then stop by Shoichi and Spanner’s to get Uri. Is that okay?”
Fran blinked before he nodded again, turning his attention out of the window once more. He didn’t speak again for the rest of the trip, instead watching the scenery go past him.

After what had felt like an eternity of browsing clothing stores, which Fran knew he had spent more time flinching away from every single person he saw than actually looking at the clothes, they had finally left the shopping centre with a few bags full of new clothes worth three-hundred dollars for Fran.
Now, having pulled up out the front out Spanner and Shoichi's home, Fran had to be coaxed out once more. He followed closely behind Tsuna, his fingers tangled in the man's jacket as usual. He kept his head down as the door was opened and Shoichi invited them inside.
"Belphegor is here, Fran."
Fran looked up at Tsuna at these words, dull emerald orbs blinking. He trembled as the brunet pointed into the room off to their right, his eyes following the older male's hand. He whimpered at the sight of his fellow patient in the other room before he detached himself from Tsuna and warily made his way into what he knew was the living room.
"Is he doing alright?" Shoichi shot a worried glance in Fran's direction, having heard about what had happened.
Tsuna nodded, a frown on his face. "He's... having more nightmares than usual... But he seems to have latched on to me without Mukuro around."
"It must have really scared him." Moving back to allow the wheelchair more room, Shoichi closed the door behind his two guests.
Inside the living room, Belphegor had his back turned to the entrance way as he shifted through the bookshelves, looking for something interesting to read; he had wanted to watch more TV, but Shoichi had turned it off and told him to find something else to do, saying that too much TV was bad for him. He had put up a fight against this request, continuously pressing the power button on the TV itself to turn it back on, but when the redhead simply took the power board away, Bel - eventually - quietened down. Spanner had been supervising him, the younger blond seated on the couch as he worked on blueprints.
"This is shit." Crinkling his nose up, Belphegor tossed a book carelessly over his shoulder and onto the pile he had already deemed not good enough for his tastes. Pulling another novel out, he barely glanced at it before adding it to the reject pile. "So is this."
"Bel-senpai?" Fran was always quiet when he spoke, so it was no surprise the other Varia patient didn't hear him. Reaching out to put his hand on the other's shoulder, he tried again. "Bel-senpai, I -"
With a loud snarl, Bel had thrown himself forwards as he simultaneously turned around, throwing the book he was holding at whoever had dared startle him so badly. He didn't care that he had hit the bookshelf with enough force to rock it; all that mattered was that someone had snuck up on him when they knew not to.
"Belphegor!" Spanner, who had seen the commotion, hurried over to check on the two. Fran was okay, his eyes wide with surprise; he had ducked the book. Bel, however, was still pressed against the bookshelf as he panted heavily, his heart thumping away painfully against his ribs as he struggled to calm down. "Belphegor, are you okay?"
"S-stupid frog..." Picking himself up from where he had fallen, Belphegor ran long fingers through his tousled locks. "D-don't come up behind me like that!"
"Sorry, senpai." Fran could understand the older male's reaction; he himself was scared of people being behind him. "I didn't..."
"...It's alright, frog..." Standing up, Bel nudged the pile of books with his booted foot. "These books are shit; nothing to entertain the prince. Let's read the TV guide, Froggy; we can see what will play."
Fran was placid as he was tugged forward to the couch, not minding as a strong arm pulled him onto the blond's lap. His back was to the other's chest as he made himself comfortable, looking down at the magazine that had been opened over his lap. He had no idea of what he was reading, so he stayed silent.
"What about this one, Froggy?" Pointing to a TV series that sounded interesting to him, Belphegor waited for the younger's opinion. When it never came, he frowned. "Froggy?"
"...I can't read, senpai..." Whispering so that only the younger twin would hear him, Fran looked away in shame, knowing that, at seventeen, he should be able to read the language, considering he had been living in Japan for quite a few years already.
"Huh?" Cocking his head to the side, Belphegor tried to understand; how could someone not read? It was the easiest thing ever! ...Though to be fair, he had had trouble with reading and writing when he was younger, having never attended school in his life - Mammon had been the one to teach him everything he knew. "What do you mean?"
"I didn’t go to school very much..." Turning to hide his face in against Bel's chest, Fran whimpered.
"But what about your school work? How could you do that if you can't read?"
"I didn't do my work, senpai... I always got in trouble for never writing a single word..."
"But you passed all your year levels, right?" Bel was a curious person by nature, wanting to know the ins and outs of everything; what he was hearing was something he had never had the chance to really learn about before, and Fran's situation was intriguing to him. "How would you keep going up if you didn't do anything?"
"It's not important, senpai... Please drop this..."
Reaching out, the blond took Fran's chin in between his thumb and forefinger, turning the smaller boy's head to look up at him. He tilted his head further as he studied the emerald orbs that were staring at him, finally saying, "Does the little Froggy want for the prince to teach him how to read? Mammy taught the prince when he was little~"
Licking his lips, the teal-haired patient nodded; he would love to learn how to read to save from further embarrassing himself like he had at the cafe. "O-okay, senpai..."
Bel felt a strange bubbling sensation in his chest at these words. He couldn't describe it, but his hands started shaking in unbridled eagerness as he snatched the magazine back up and pointed to the first word. Was he just excited that someone was willing to spend time with him for once?
"Trace your fingers over it all so you can get a feel for it." Pointing with one hand to a set of katakana at the top of the page, Bel used his other hand to take Fran's own and put it next to where he was pointing. "This sentence reads, 'Now showing'. Let's break it up for you so you learn each symbol individually. Trace the first symbol a few times."
Fran did as he was told, Bel telling him what each symbol represented. He repeated it as he traced, absorbing the information into his mind in a manner far faster than he had ever absorbed anything at all, and with just a few minutes of practise, he had memorised everything the blond was teaching him. He was feeling happier than he had in a while, excited to be learning something in such a gentle way; he had struggled in school, uninterested in the world and always focused internally on his thoughts and feelings. He had never really paid any attention to what the teachers spoke about, and whenever he'd be yelled at or given detention for it, it only pushed him further away from wanting to learn.
But Bel was being so patient with him, and he really knew how to teach.
"Starting to get it, Froggy?" Bel's skin crawled as a hiss escaped his lips, annoyed that Spanner had, by now, finished cleaning up the mess the older blond had made and returned back to the couch. He wrapped his arms tighter around Fran's middle as he pushed himself as close to the arm of the couch as he could, trying to ignore the psychiatrist who had returned back to his blue prints.
Fran sent a wary glance to Spanner before he nodded, turning his attention back to Belphegor. "How did you learn to teach so easily...?"
"This is exactly how Mammy taught me to read~" A laid-back smile crossed Bel's face at the memory. "A prince never forgets, Froggy~"
Fran nodded, turning back to the magazine. They moved on to the next paragraph until eventually they had made it halfway down the page before the other three males entered the room, Uri tucked carefully against Shoichi's chest.
"Fran, we're going to leave now." Tsuna was as kind as ever as he addressed the boy, feeling his heart warming at the sight of the two Varia patients; to see them curled up so closely like this was unusual, but proof that they were both beginning to let others in. "Are you ready?"
Fran frowned deeply as he turned to hide his face in against Bel's chest, wrapping his arms around the other. He heard Bel growl before strong arms wrapped possessively around the youngest, obscured eyes narrowing hatefully.
"The froggy stays here!" Bel ordered, backing away as Tsuna came closer to them. "Stay where you are, peasant! The froggy isn't going home with you! He's learning how to read!"
"Ah, but Belphegor, Fran is my responsibility outside of the facility," the brunet explained ever-so-gently, knowing what he was dealing with. "I have to bring him back with me, okay?"
“Froggy stays!”
“Belphe –“
“- Tsuna, we wouldn’t mind looking after Fran for you.” Shoichi offered his usual shy smile as he stroked the kitten’s fur. “We know he’s a bit of a handful, and Belphegor won’t do anything but watch the TV; it might be good for him to get away from television and instead spend some time with someone.”
Tsuna nodded, knowing that was very true; it was unhealthy to leave Belphegor in front of the TV set all the time, and what he really needed was to work on his social skills – and if he seemed to be having fun with Fran, then who were they to tear them apart?
“I’ll come and get him tonight once I’ve gotten Mukuro.” Tsuna smiled as he moved back to Gokudera’s side, grabbing the wheelchair once more. “Thank you, Shoichi.”
“Anytime, Tsuna.”
Turning to say goodbye to his two patients, Tsuna stopped as he caught sight of something on Bel’s face. He frowned, knowing exactly what it was, but questioning it anyway. “What happened to his face…?”
Spanner looked up at this question, his own frown on his face. “Someone must have been hitting him at the facility because he didn’t have those bruises when I took him back to his room that morning.”
Bel ignored this conversation, instead focusing back on Fran once again. He was barely even aware of the cat’s presence, having not seen it once during any of his stays – Shoichi and Spanner were smarter than they seemed, having made sure to keep the animal hidden before the blond did anything further to it.
“Are you going to go and see Yamamoto?” Holding the bag of cat supplies in one hand, Shoichi followed his friends out to Tsuna’s car, the cat carrier resting on Gokudera’s lap.
“We’re going out to see him tomorrow.” Tsuna unlocked his car before he took the bag from his friend, letting the other two handle putting Uri in his carrier. “We’re going to bring him home once Gokudera-kun is able to move around and take care of himself again; we think it’ll be better to leave him with nurses considering his injuries.”
“That makes sense. How’s he going to take the news…?” There wasn’t one person in the entire facility who didn’t know how much Yamamoto loved his dog; there were often times the animal came to work with him just because he didn’t want to leave him home alone.
“Not well at all, but he has to know.” Tsuna and Shoichi knew better than to doubt Gokudera’s words; the silver-haired male was the one who knew Yamamoto best, after all.
“Poor thing…” Shoichi couldn’t imagine how Yamamoto would feel after hearing about his dog’s death, and he sincerely wished there was more he could do, but what could he do when he was forced to care for Belphegor in between his shifts at the hospital that were getting more and more demanding? “Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.”
“Thank you, Shoichi.” Tsuna took the now-loaded cat carrier and carefully strapped it into the back seat. “Thank you very much.”
“Any time.” Shoichi smiled, holding a short conversation with his friends before they left.
Inside the house, Spanner had abandoned his blueprints in favour of watching the two Varia patients tangle themselves in a kiss. While Fran was not reciprocating, it was clear that such intimacy was not unwelcome; his emerald eyes watched Belphegor warily as he held on to the man’s striped shirt tightly, slowly starting to enjoy the feeling of the older male’s hot tongue dancing inside of his mouth.
When Belphegor broke away for air, he was quick to start sucking and nibbling at Fran’s throat inside, his hands gliding down the boy’s sides curiously. Fran trembled beneath his touch, but the other didn’t resist.
Lifting his head to whisper into the boy’s ear, Bel spoke in a hushed tone. “Can I give my Froggy a handjob?”
Fran just stared ahead in a dumb manner, somewhat enjoying what was happening to him. He jumped and whimpered as a hand ghosted over his crotch, but with reassurance from Bel that it was okay, he allowed his pants to be unzipped and a hand to wrap around his flaccid shaft.
Bel was tender as he worked the other into hardness, eventually releasing himself from his own confines to pump them both against each other. He panted softly as Fran cried out and bucked into the touch, and he couldn’t help but moan loudly at his climax as the younger spurted all over them.
Fran was quiet as he pulled himself closer to Bel, trying to gather his wits after the unexpected surge of pleasure that had hit him like a ton of bricks. He yawned, closing his eyes, letting Belphegor hug him tight.
The blond closed his own eyes as well as he made himself more comfortable on the couch, deciding that a sleep with his Froggy was too good to pass up. Letting oblivion take over him, Bel fell into peaceful dreams, soothed by the boy’s presence.
Spanner, who was still watching them with shocked eyes, couldn’t help but jump up from the couch now that the show was over, needing his own privacy; it had been a long time since he had seen something that had made him so hard, he needed to relieve himself.
The younger blond couldn’t help but hope that, if the two patients were to stay with them again, there would be more intimate acts between them where he could watch; after so long of having wanted Belphegor to himself, it was well worth it to see the young man with someone else – it was all as arousing as it would have been to have the Varia patient to himself, after all.
