“Have you seen this Ami?”
“Hmm, what?”
Ami looked up from the textbook she was reading at the flyer in Rei’s hand. She immediately wished she hadn’t. She tried to command her face to be impassive, but she could feel the shocked and horrified expression bubbling to the surface. Her breath caught in her chest and she thought she might hyperventilate for a moment before she finally snapped out of her shock and began to compose herself. But she was still unable to tear her eyes from the poster to scan Rei’s face for the knowing reaction she expected to her own response to the paper.
“What are we going to do?”
Ami reached out and took the flyer from Rei’s outstretched hand, trying desperately to keep her own hand from making the paper tremble. It was him. Well…all of them, but all she had eyes for was the tall brunette in the yellow suit with those lovely violet eyes burning into hers, even though they were only a picture. ‘Three Lights Return Tour, tickets booking now, don’t miss the return of the popular idols to Tokyo.’ Even in her distraction Ami took in the less than perfect details of the poster, like the fact that it failed to include performance dates and times or ticket prices. It looked hastily produced, but it was still the most wonderful thing she had seen in years: the most wonderful and the most absolutely terrifying thing. She realized, abruptly that Rei was talking to her.
“Hellooooo, Ami, what are we going to do about this?”
“What do you mean?” Rei sighed in frustration.
“I mean, what do you think we should do about this in regards to Usagi? Should we try and hide it from her? Should we tell her?” She raised an eyebrow at Ami. “Are you okay?”
“What? Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” She sighed to herself, glad that Rei did not suspect her, but upset that she had this information thrust upon her without warning because of that ignorance. “I think we should tell her. She’s going to find out eventually anyway, and she’ll only be angry with us later if she finds out that we knew about it. Don’t worry. I’ll tell her.”

“Ami! Ami, calm down! What’s the matter?” The blonde’s forehead wrinkled in concern at the sound of her near-hysterical friend on the other end of the phone line.
“I…I can’t…you should see it for yourself, Usagi.”
“Okay…where are you?” Usagi looked at her watch, 4:45; she could probably leave a little early.
“I’m on my way back to my apartment.”
“I’ll meet you there as soon as I can.”
Usagi made it to Ami’s apartment in record time, opting to hail a cab rather than wait for the bus. She jogged up the stairs and knocked just once on her friend’s door when it flew open. Without a word, Ami pulled her inside, closing the door behind her, led her over the couch, and then sat holding her hands in her own, just staring at her.
“Okay…what’s this about Ami? You’re starting to freak me out.” Ami drew in a shaky breath and pulled a folded paper out of her pocket.
“It’s about this.”
She handed the paper to Usagi, who, with a confused look, unfolded it slowly. Just a brief glance was enough for the blonde to gasp and drop the paper to the floor as if it might burn her. They both sat staring at the paper for a very long time. Minutes ticked by, and finally Usagi reached down and retrieved the flyer, setting it on the coffee table. Even though she’d read it about a thousand times already, Ami’s eyes scanned the text on the poster over and over, just like Usagi’s. Eventually, they tore their eyes from the paper and sat staring at each other, fear and wonder mixing on both their faces.
“They’re…they’re…coming…here? They’re coming back…here?” Usagi couldn’t seem to get her mind to grasp the idea. She jumped up and began pacing back and forth across Ami’s small living room. “Why…why are they coming? What for? You don’t think something has happened to their princess again, do you? Or that Kinmokusei is in danger? Why, why now? Why here?”
“I don’t know, Usagi. I don’t know.” Ami’s eyes were glassy and her answer a soft monotone, but it didn’t matter because the blonde hardly heard her anyway.
Usagi’s thoughts were in a blinding, whirling free fall. They were coming back…HE was coming back! She was…what? Excited? Yes. Confused? Yes. Terrified? …Yes. On the one hand, the thought of seeing him again filled her with joy and rapture, the kind that makes people pretend they’re in a musical and dance and sing all over the place. But on the other hand…what if he didn’t feel the same way about her anymore, now that she could finally reciprocate? What if he had relegated her to the ‘just friends’ category? Worse, what if he didn’t even want to be her friend? What if he hated her for what she’d done to him? Usagi shook her head, trying to clear those horrifying, and probably over-reactionary thoughts out of her head.
“What are we going to do Ami?”
