~*~*~*~*~ Chapter 4 – Parasites - Part 2 ~*~*~*~*~

The room was dark and a cold aura flew through the air. Staring at the friend he no longer recognized Jack broke the ice without caution.

“I’m sorry about what happened to Noah but it wasn’t my fault…I never asked to be stuck in this hell hole.”

“If you want to go away you’re welcome to leave.” said Damien, leaving Jack slightly shocked.

“What?” he finally asked.

“Reality is formed by an infinite number of probabilities, predicting the future is impossible but enhanced minds can easily calculate the most probable course of events. However, the amount of data and information regarding your surroundings is essential to evaluate the most likely paths and your control over all variables is what allows you to keep in command.”

“…Say what?”

“I knew the odds of Nina doing this were extremely high and I also knew it wasn’t a treat for now…but for some reason you tend to make reality take paths with incredibly low probabilities. I though you were predictable but it’s actually quite the opposite…you’re turning into a confounding variable.”

“I ‘m a what now?”

“Right now you’re a freaking parasite infecting my plans.” said Damien with a cut-throat tone.

“Oh…so that’s why you’re setting me free?” doubted Jack leaning against the wall, he was wondering where the catch was.

“Only if the person you are now ceases to exit.”

“…?”

“If you really want to go away I need to change your appearance and erase your memory.”

“That’s out of the question.”

“Simply killing you would be the most effective choice.”

“…”

“The way you are right now you’re actually becoming a slight menace, to stay you’ll have to behave and obey orders.” he added.

“This is bullshit, all I did was defend myself!”

“Noah was the one acting defensively, you simply acted selfishly and irrationally, that’s probably why your actions break my calculations I can’t even imagine what it must be like to act without any reason or logic.”

“How am I possibly the one to blame? That bitch invaded your hideout, stole some weird shit, offended my friends and nearly killed your boyfriend!”

“Noah is not my boyfriend.” answered Damien rolling his eyes, he was now surprised that Jack managed to turn such a conversation into smut.

“Oh right I forgot, he’s just a servant right? A blind believer of some crazy ass mission helping out by dropping his pants whenever their esteemed leader has urges…”

“This discussion is about you, not him. And Noah has always been an important part of my team as a pokemon breeder.”

“And you have no feelings towards him whatsoever? Then why the fuck did you attack me?”

“Any answer to those questions would only make you angrier and agitated, just decide what you want.”

“Fine. So you want me to pick between being free but as someone else or being stuck here repressing myself. Oh…or dying, that’s your favorite option.” replied Jack sarcastically.

“Yes, for the moment those are your alternatives but I would suggest the second one, if you want to make a difference to the world and your loved ones staying here and improving yourself is the best choice.”

“You know?…Actually losing everything wouldn’t be all that bad. At least I would forget you ever existed.”

“You need time to think, you have until the sunrise to give me your decision. If you don’t reach a conclusion by then I’ll have no other choice than to go for the third option.” finished Damien before slowly vanishing.

Shortly after a chair flew across the room kicked by the angered young man, a few teardrops were sliding down his checks.

“Fucking great…”

~*~*~*~*~*~

The sun was still far from rising when Jack decided not to waste another second, but in that moment his heart was pumping more than ever when walking towards Damien’s room.

He had considered every possibility and decided to follow the one that seemed the wisest, following his wits instead of his emotions – for most likely the first time in years. He realized that being stuck on a secret fortress with criminal hybrids was the final proof that his way of handling decisions might need a major turn around.

His hand was shaking when reaching for the doorknob, that room was one of the few he had never seen or entered. But before he could open it the door slid by itself.

“Enter, don’t be shy.” said the bordeaux haired man laying in a enormous wood bed, he wasn’t acting in a flirtatious way but actually quietly staring at the ceiling.

“I…made by decision.”

“That was fast. Go ahead, spill it out.” said Damien still not looking at the other man.

“I’ll stay here, train everyday and try to act rationally.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s the only reasonable option, I’m tired of everything but…it’s impossible for me to behave if I don’t understand anything that is going on around here.”

“Good answer.”

“So will you explain me all this…insanity?”

“Yes Jack. What do you want to know precisely?” he asked, finally slightly turning around and looking him in the eyes.

“Team Genesis? What’s that all about?”

“Team Rocket wanted powerful soldiers so they created the first living hybrids – us. In time our powers surpassed them and we freed ourselves to follow our goal.”

“What goal?”

“Save the world.”

“Don’t bullshit me, your demon comrade raped my friend you call that saving the world?”

“I’m pretty sure you’ve felt it by now…after all you’re always sneaking around trying to take a peek at me and Noah.”

“…What?” asked Jack trying to hide discomfort in his voice.

“Pokemon instincts, especially increased sex drive. It’ll only get worst while you evolve into higher levels, for hybrids like me and Nina it’s…unbearable. However, we males are satisfied easily, hard core sex is more than enough to fulfill our needs. Female hybrids on the other hand are more…creative. It’s not an orgasm that fully satisfies them, it’s the play around the act, the feeling of control over the situation…so yes, they are all insane fiends, each of them gets off on different things.”

“So you’re not criminals…you’re just horny perverts…”

“Welcome to the club mister Infernape.” teased Damien.

“Ugh…whatever, then what is this saving the world bullcrap?”

“Answer me Jack, what came first…Pokemon or Humans?”

“Please. Nobody knows that, it’s the oldest riddle in the book.”

“We know the answer, it’s Pokemon.”

“How could you possibly know that?”

“I’ve seen several ancient readings that support that theory and as pokemon ourselves we can reach places humans could never before so trust me on that one, the human race doesn’t originally belong here.”

“Ok. So what?”

“So…every single human might be in great danger, sooner or later, mankind will be punished for their egoism.”

“…”

“Humans are a parasitic race, they devoured their own home world centuries ago and spread to others in hope of survival. They were accepted here in return of leaving their past behind and redeeming themselves, the pokemon gods hoped they would change their destructive ways and become a helpful guardians for all types and species.”

“Guardians? You mean like us trainers?”

“Close. Instinctively humans took that part by creating what we all know as trainers, breeders, coordinators and so on. However, all of them use pokemon for their own selfish reasons and began to affect the eco-balance instead of protecting it.”

“Wait wait, if what you’re saying is true then how come nobody knows any of this?”

“The first humans were a small group that came from space, in time all information was lost with the pass of generations. The pokemon try to guide us in the right way but the legendary ones don’t seem to want to refresh mankind’s memory.”

“Why?”

“Because they begin to doubt their decision, humans nowadays do nothing besides digging their own graves. Pollution, violence, hate, this race seems to be helpless against their own disease…and so the best choice would be to simply get rid of all “troublesome guests”.”

“You’re kidding right?”

“I wish, as a pokemon part of me feels the pain of this world, the sorrow nature endures because of the lack of balance. That’s why after discovering the truth I decided to dedicate my life into fixing what our ancestors fucked up.”

“…”

“I want to create the guardians us humans were meant to be all along, the hybrids need to restore the equilibrium of the world before it’s too late.”

“Restore…what do you mean restore?”

Suddenly vanishing from the bed Damien reappeared right in front of the other man.

“So Jack, can I count with your help?” he asked holding up a hand, for the first time he was smiling.

“…I…” he tried to answer, but before he could finish Damien’s hand grabbed his into a handshake.

Suddenly Jack’s mind flew through time, flashing back three years in real life seconds he saw all the anguish and pain, discoveries and assessments, regrets and loneliness that Damien had to endure on his own up until the moment where they stood. Along with that he became fully aware of his intentions so far.

“…”

“You alright? Imparting knowledge is painful but the headache is temporary, it will pass in a few minutes.” said the master hybrid noticing the younger man falling on his knees.

“…”

“…You son of a bitch…”

“Excuse me?”

“YOU SELFISH SON OF A BITCH!!”

“Jack…”

“YOU…ALL THIS SHIT…ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND??”

“I couldn’t show you any of this before, you were far too immature.”

“YOU FUCKING PLANNED ALL THIS ALONE? THE LEAGUE? MY DEFEAT? EVEN THE CONVERSATION WE HAD A FEW HOURS AGO? IT WAS ALL A BIG FAT LIE?”

“Yes those were no more than 5% of all my plans but your correct…I needed to wait until a moment where you would truly grow up and understand…but if I waited naturally that would take far too long, this was the best course of events.”

“YOU…GODDAMIT I FUCKING HATE YOU!” finished Jack turning around and walking towards the door.

“No you don’t, that was the whole point of this…the truth is you’re so predictably easy it ruins the thrill of the game for me.” teased Damien.

“FUCK OFF!!”

“…”

“Jack. So can I count on you from now on?” he asked changing his tone into a very serious tone.

The Infernape stopped calmly staring at the doorknob.

“Yes…you can count me in on your plans shitbag.” he answered before leaving.

Damien stared into nowhere for a while and vanished from the room. Reappearing in his lab he looked at his fallen servant.

“I’m sorry Noah…everything followed my plans so far…except for this.” he thought laying a hand in the glass tube covering the spot where the large wound was. “I won’t let things get out of control again…I promise…”
