Sanji’s not the type that actively checks out men.
But on this ship, where most of the crew are men, it is hard for him not to pay attention to them. And Sanji likes exotic men, so the swordsman does things for him that he never really thought possible. It’s impossible for him to remember the last time someone managed to entice him, and it’s his exotic skin that seems to do it.
Sure, Usopp’s exotic too, but not in the way Zoro is. All those muscles and that short green hair are just so appealing, and Sanji finds himself staring quite often. He’s always walking around topless, all sweat and smirks whenever Sanji goes by. It seems to be entirely on purpose, too.
The scar across his chest that signifies when they first met is one of the things the blonde knows he cherishes. And that gives him hope, though he knows all too well it is more of a symbol of Zoro’s fight with that guy. Yet Sanji likes to hope.
So he teases and flirts, to try and gauge where he is on Zoro’s radar. The swordsman pays attention to him, and that is all he needs.
