~*~*~*~*~ Chapter 4 – The Summoning ~*~*~*~*~

#Log Entry #3786 – January 23 – Veilstone City Headquarters

It’s been nearly a month since the end of the Winter Solstice, Gary and Ash maintain their research about every single robbery done by criminal teams in the last years. I know it makes sense to examine that since we suspect Team Genesis might be using them to cover their tracks but come on it’s like finding a freaking needle in a haystack.

Meanwhile I’m the only one that seems to be worried about a different subject – miss Vanessa Parker. Ever since she fell down that cave and woke up in the hospital nothing has ever been the same…and apparently I’m the only person who gives a shit about it.

Not that I ever thought she was a weakling but it’s just impossible for her to easily gather 3 Golden Badges when I myself hardly earned…#

“Make that 4 Maxie.” said the girl hearing him record his journal entry.

“What?...Wait what happened to you?” he asked seeing one of her arms wrapped in bandages among a few bruises.

“Gardenia told Maylene about our battle so she requested a challenge with me as soon as we arrived here. We had a Battle Royal Match, all of our six pokemon plus ourselves on the arena, the last one standing would give victory to the team. The only rule was that pokemon couldn’t attack us humans. You should’ve been there! It was madness pure madness!”

“You can fight now too? Wasn’t dancing and coordination enough?”

“I can see you’ve been suspecting me lately…but really Max it’s me, not an impostor again.”

“I know. I might have been fooled once but my pokemon can sense a person’s mental waves, nobody can fake that. However, that doesn’t explain why they couldn’t probe your mind when we were in Hearthome City.”

“You’ve been monitoring my mind? I don’t want any of your Psychic pokemon messing around with my brain.” she complained.

“Am I the only one that finds it weird that ever since you woke up you possess talents you didn’t before? AND somehow managed to defeat Fantina and now Maylene when I can only beat Roark and Gardenia!? Gary insists that near death experiences have weird effects on people but I wont fall for that, being in a coma doesn’t give people extra knowledge.”

“Jealous much? Has it occurred to you that maybe I’m just…better than you?” she teased with a grin on her face.

“Never. You know something you’re not telling us.”

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you the truth, I told Gary and he booked me appointments with a psychiatrist.”

“Try me.”

“Not so easy…Let’s make a deal. You help me and I tell you all about my bizarre comatose journey.”

“What do you want?”

“It’s been far too long. If Gary and Ash keep up with this speed I’ll be an old lady before I find my friends, it’s time for us to try other paths…short cuts.”

“You have my attention. What’s on your mind?”

“That morphed version of me proved that Gary’s theory is most likely correct, Team Genesis are man made hybrids. Team Rocket used his cell development discoveries to mix humans with pokemon that explains why Damien could vanish and Nina placed a curse on me.”

“So far nothing new to me.”

“Don’t you see? Nina Harper was Ghost Specialist and she’s now most likely some sort of a Ghost herself.”

“I’m not following….”

“All Ghost Pokemon have a strange connection with this world, that’s why over the centuries humans developed charms and spells to repel or attract them…I’ve been researching that for weeks and I finally found a spell that summons the most powerful Ghost Pokemon around.”

“You want to…summon her…?” he joked.

“Don’t assume I’m that stupid Max, I doubt that would even be possible. But you can bet your ass all the best Ghost Pokemon belong to her, if we summon one of them it will definitely focus her attention on us. What do you think?”

“I think you might really need that psychiatrist.”

“Hilarious. Any better ideas you might want to share?”

“No. But it doesn’t make it any less retarded. Even if by a miracle it worked…what would you do then?”

“Wait to see what they do, either they do something to get it back and give us some new leads or they do nothing and we get a witness. At least we finally get to move a piece of the game.”

“Game?” Max asked raising an eyebrow.

“I like thinking of it as a chess game, they took my two knights and now I take at least one pawn.”

“Ok even thou it’s completely insane and ridiculous I get where you’re going with all this…but what do you want from me?”

“Well…I need access to those medical machines that keep Psychic and Ghost pokemon from escaping, I need someone to analyze the Ghost and its strength, plus the spell requires a group of powerful Psychic pokemon and…drops of blood from a pure hearted virgin. I figured you’d be perfect for all of those.”

“Aren’t you amusing…as far as I know you’re also eligible for the blood part. Don’t go thinking I’m the only conservative being around here.”

“Pure? Me? I have been poisoned, cursed and magically cured. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t even be eligible for blood donations. So are you with me or not?”

“If I go along with this…plan…you’ll teach me how you defeated them?”

“Yes. And if it works I’ll even tell you how I kicked your ass the first time we met.”

“Thanks for finally admitting that you cheated.”

“Nobody said anything about cheating!” she complained raising her voice somewhat offended.

“She looks cute when she’s angry…” he thought.

“Can I count on you or not?”

“Do you really want to do this?” Max asked, changing his teasing voice tone into concernment.

“I’ll go insane if I don’t do SOMETHING. I mean it.”

“Have you spoken with Gary at least?”

“Yes. He said it would never work, but he didn’t say we couldn’t try it.”

“I honestly hope it won’t work.” crossed his mind.

“I now an empty room where nobody will pester us.” Vi continued.

“If any of your “knights” returns I go back to being a mere pawn in your game, or less.”

“I never did anything like this but it doesn’t seem to be very hard.”

“Look at me. I’m about to give my blood for a retarded voodoo spell, if I had doubts about liking her or not I can trash them in the garbage.”

“So are you ready for this Maxie?”

“I guess.” he answered, “apparently I already am a stupid pawn…”

“Thanks. I knew I could count on my bishop.” she teased.

“Bishop huh?”

“Shall we start?”

“Fine.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Meanwhile at the Veilstone Team Galactic Warehouse.

“This place is nothing but a disgusting mess, I’m surprised they threw down the entrance but forgot to blow up the underground levels.” complained Bianca kicking the trash in front of her.

“Mistress…this mission is so…below you. Shouldn’t we have sent some grunts to find this map?” asked Gabriel.

“Gabriel my dear, do you really believe I’m here for a rusty old map? Damien’s smart he knows I would refuse to do this if I didn’t have any interest in it.”

“Oh. So what are we really searching for?”

“We are looking for the map he wants, what you don’t know is that the map itself is one of the largest and most beautiful diamonds in the world. Such a precious treasure is destined to belong in my collection.”

“I understand.”

“But I do refuse to get my hands on all this dusty pieces of trash, this is a job for something that can go through walls. Froslass come out, search for a large diamond.” she said, unleashing the pokemon.

“What should we do meanwhile Mistress?”

“I can think of something…” she teased, laying her hands on his muscled chest.

“Allow me.” he answered blowing a jet of wind towards a dirty table, carefully placing his mistress on top of it.

“Aren’t you the caring type?” Bianca said, placing a barefoot on his groin, “…but by now you should already know that I don’t give a shit about stuff like that.” She calmly finished before making an icy ring around his waist and tossing him on top of the table with an acrobatic move.

“My bad.” he answered while below the young woman, with his steel composition hits like that couldn’t even distress him, he actually enjoyed being tossed around but at that moment something else was on his mind.

“You know I like staying on top.” she mumbled biting his ear.

“I know…”

“What’s wrong with you lately?! Normally by now you’d be moaning for pleasure not spacing out!” the young woman complained pushing herself up.

“Sorry…I…” he started before feeling a ghostly chilly aura above him.

“Froslass. That was fast. Where’s the diamond?”

The pokemon showed the large sharp jewel, it looked like dazzling star made of ice. Bianca’s eyes glowed with desire from the sight of it, but they rapidly changed into clutched little beacons of suspicious anger when the pokemon suddenly began flying around in random circles throughout the room.

“What’s wrong with her?” asked the bodyguard lifting himself up.

“Good question. FROSLASS give me that immediate…!” she was about to scream before the pokemon vanished in front of them, along with the map.

“…”

“What the hell? Mistress are you alrig….?” Gabriel wondered due to the lack of scream, but her expression justified the silence, “Frozen with anger…that’s new…” he mumbled mesmerized while poking her frozen body.

~*~*~*~*~

“It worked…no…fucking…way…”

“Told ya Max. Now make sure it won’t escape.”

“It’s not going anywhere, but the level of this pokemon…it’s outstanding…I’ve never seen such a powerful specimen.”

“It must belong to her, we actually did it!”

“What now?”

“Honestly…I didn’t really expect it to work either…I guess now we play the waiting game.”

“Awesome…what’s that she’s holding?” Max wondered pointing at the jewel.

“A crystal? A held item maybe?”

“I doubt, unless it’s a very rare one that I never heard of.”

“Don’t worry Froslass we won’t hurt you…we’re the good guys I promise!” said the girl to reinsure the caged pokemon.

“What’s going on in here?” asked an angry voice entering the dark room.

“Professor…hum…hi…” she mumbled.

“…Why is the room filled with candles and what’s with this smell? If the two of you want to have some privacy I suggest using your own rooms and not medical facilities.” he complained displeased.

“What?! It’s nothing like that! The spell I told you earlier about…look it worked!” explained Vi embarrassed while Max grinned.

“A Froslass? What? Are the two of you insane??”

“Kinda, I was bored and she’s just plain desperate. But Gary it really did work this pokemon is at a level higher than any I’ve seen before, it most likely belongs to Nina Harper.”

“This is a crime and an act of pure stupidity, that pokemon could belong to anyone. And how did it “work” anyways?”

“Well it’s basicly placing Psychic pokemon in a circle and making them challenge the strongest of Ghost pokemon around, the blood is an offering and…” heard Bianca, using her pokemon’s mind as a host.

“I can see Gary Oak, the purple headed bitch from the league that Nina wanted and a nerdy guy with glasses, his face isn’t unfamiliar to me. The room is too dark to recognize but I can see and feel some sort of strong barrier around my pokemon.” she said before ending the mind link.

“Amazing, I didn’t know the Mistress could do such a thing.”

“I’ve been developing mental abilities, I don’t want Damien to be the only one with that advantage.”

“What should we do now?”

“There’s a Pokemon Hospital from the Oak Corporation in this city, they must be there. I heard they were investigating us but they were considered to be nothing but ants…well they are now officially promoted to leeches. We have to get that map back immediately.”

“What do they want? The diamond? How could they possibly be so ahead of us?” wondered the hybrid Skarmory.

“Shut up this requires concentration.” she complained before trying to gather more information.

“…I just want my friends back, I’m tired of sitting around hoping something might happen! With this pokemon maybe we can find some leads on them! Maybe this Froslass has seen where Jack and Sam are! Max’s pokemons just need to probe her mind!” was what she witnessed, giving the ice queen an immediate idea for a turn-over plan.

“There will be no probing whatsoever, this pokemon’s mind, body and existence belongs only to me. If you want one of your dear friends back release this pokemon in 10 seconds and your wish will be granted. Ignore this deal and the specimen will kill itself. Try any tricks and you all die. 10.” announced a bizarre voice coming from the possessed pokemon.

“What? It talked??” gasped Max.

“9.”

“They’re using the pokemon as a link. Impressive.” commented Gary.

“8.”

“Stop admiring it! This is it! Let’s release it now!” shouted Vi in excitement.

“7.”

“It’s obviously a trick. No way will they trade a human for a pokemon.” declared the professor.

“6.”

“Whatever! I don’t doubt that they will kill the pokemon, so just let it go! There’s nothing to lose!” she retaliated.

“5.”

“If they wanted to destroy her they could have done that as soon as she was captured. It’s a trap.” deduced Max.

“4.”

“Maybe they want that crystal or whatever, I don’t care! They are possessing the Froslass that means they can fuck up her mind. Just let it go! It’s a gamble I don’t wanna pass on!”

“3.”

“Vi this was your idea in the first place! Stop acting so irrationally dammit!”

“2.”

“It’s not irrational, it’s instinctive.” she finished, before kicking to hell the power box that kept the machine turned on. The pokemon rapidly flew away and vanished along with what she was holding.

“You fucking retard…” was all Max could say.

“I personally don’t know what to say, I wasn’t prepared for any of this, now that they know we’re after them they might try to kill us.” mumbled Gary somewhat scared of the consequences this little “trade” would bring.

“It was my plan, so it was my decision. I’m sorry if I put you guys in any danger…if you want me to leave, I’ll leave.”

“You’re not going anywhere, you’re my responsibility. We all knew we’d face danger somewhere along the way, it was just a matter of time.” quickly declared the professor.

“Who gives a shit about danger? We just lost our best lead ever! Now they’ll cover their tracks even more than before! Trying to kill us is nothing compared to fully losing the change of discovering their grand plans!”

“When a door closes another one opens. It’s way too soon to throw the white flag Max.”

“Right…let’s just pray really loud or try a good luck spell this time!” he answered with sarcasm.

“Fuck off! If it wasn’t for me we’d still be…” she started before Gary walked out of the room.

“Great…another headache…” he whispered holding his forehead.

“Did I miss something?” asked Ash casually passing by.

“…”

~*~*~*~*~*~

A few hours later, on a Team Genesis hideout.

“Mistress now that we got back the map, what should we do about them?”

“I already informed Damien about all that happened and apparently he agrees with me.”

“So we kill them?”

“What? No! That’s far too…simple and futile. We’ll keep our promise and give them what they want.”

“…”

“Seriously?”

“You doubt my generosity?”

“…I doubt Damien and Lilith’s charity.”

“Don’t be stupid. I don’t expect anything from those two, you’re the only one I trust.”

“Thank you Mistress. But what do we do then?”

“Follow me.”
