Title: Meeting Keisuke
Author: Jigoku no Miko
Author’s quote: I am no man’s possession!
I wish I was lonely
Instead of just only
Crystal and see through
And not enough to you
Cause you don’t see me
And you don’t need me
And you don’t love me
The way I wish you would
The way I know you could
You don’t see me- Josie and the Pussycats
The next morning when Kana awoke she got dressed and took a walk on the terrace just enjoying the warm weather, even though she wasn’t too sure of the season she found it lovely. Sticking her hands in her pockets she sighed heavily. “*Oof* sorry sir.” She apologized after bumping into someone and continuing on her way.
“Kana wait I wanted to talk to you.” Hotohori called from behind her but she didn’t dare to stop, she just kept walking. “Kana! Kana!” He yelled as she got further and further away. “I command you to halt!” At hearing this Kana stopped in her tracks before disappearing and reappearing in Hotohori’s face.
“You may have control over all of your little guards and the towns people that worship the ground you walk on but you have no control over me so never say that again. Now what the hell do you want?” She stated keeping her eyes focused intently on his.
“Come with me.” He whispered turning and walking into a nearby door, Kana followed her eyes glued to the ground. In the room a small cherry wood desk sat in the corner along with two tiny sofas.
“Please have a seat.” He whispered pointing to the left sofa.
“No thanks I’d rather stand. Can we make this quick?” She leaned up against the wall and stuck her hands in her pockets.
“Why you got a date or something?” He mocked but she didn’t laugh.
“Like you’d care.” she huffed before he looked at her worriedly.
“Look Kana I think we need to talk-“
“Isn’t that what were doing?” She cut him off.
“Well yes but, oh just hear me out. I’ve been thinking about what Taiitsukun said to you at Mt. Tikyoku about finding your place in this journey and I’m thinking you have to be of major importance otherwise she wouldn’t have even bothered to bring you back from the dead.” He began to explain his theory before she stifled a laugh and rolled her eyes. “Is something amusing?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah you place me and refer to me as an object and not a person I’m sorry but I find it amusing that you think I am your possession.”
“Your not my possession you are a protector of Miaka.”
“Oh yes, I forgot I’m a bodyguard. We wouldn’t want anything to happen to the dear sweet Suzaku no Miko. Here let me set an example of how happy this has made me.” She put her pointer finger in the air before rotating it in a 360-degree circle.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” He questioned irritated that she wasn’t taking this seriously.
“Gee I don’t know PMS maybe! Can I leave now?!?!?!” She yelled forcing her tears back.
“Please by all means feel free to LEAVE!” He yelled back before she turned and fled out of the room the thick oak door slamming behind her.
“*Sigh* what has happened between yesterday and today to make her view me so horribly?” He pondered to himself as he sat at the desk. Kana ran to the gazebo on the pond and stared at the glimmering surface, it was so calm and clear unlike her mind.
“Damn ‘em. Damn ‘em all!” She spat punching one of the support beams and than punching it again. Tamahome was walking along and saw Kana beating the crap out of the support beam so he decided to take a detour to find out why.
“Hey Kana somethin’ botherin’ you?” He questioned the girl who was standing in front of him her shoulders rising up and down quickly.
“No, everything’s just perfect!” She hit the beam again. A large red spot was on the pole and a larger puddle of blood on the floor. The beam itself wasn’t in too good of shape, the wood was splintered all over the place if she hit it again the whole gazebo would collapse.
“Kana you don’t know what you’re doing if you hit that thing again the whole gazebo will collapse.” He yelled as she continued to pant.
“Than get out of here.” She whispered winding back ready to hit the post again.
‘This is what she wants? No way I’m not gonna let her die.’ Tamahome realized before running over and grabbing her arm before it hit the pole.
“Tamahome? LET GO! I said let go!” She yelled before throwing him to the ground. “Now get out of here and leave me alone!” Her voice got quieter as the last words rolled off her tongue and Tamahome stood up.
“Kana what the hell are you doing? What do you think you’ll be accomplishing by doing this?” He demanded throwing his arm out sideways.
“I won’t be locked away, I won’t be a possession and I won’t be hurt.” She whispered drawing her arm back again.
“You won’t be locked away because you’re not a possession. I don’t know how you got hurt but do you really think this will solve what has happened?” He questioned before a white light engulfed her. “What’s going on?” He yelled before she disappeared. Tamahome blinked a coupled of times before noticing her necklace that she had been wearing was on the ground grabbing it he ran off to find Hotohori. “Hotohori! Hotohori!” He yelled seeing the emperor walking down the veranda. Hotohori turned to look at him.
“Tamahome? What’s wrong?” Hotohori questioned as the man paused in front of him leaning on his knees panting.
“It’s – it’s Kana… she’s, she’s gone.” He gasped between pants.
“What do you mean gone? Tamahome where has she gone?” He questioned worriedly.
“She was in the gazebo and than she was engulfed by this white light and disappeared but her necklace remained.” Tamahome explained before handing the necklace to Hotohori. Hotohori’s eyes got wide and he turned and left. “Hotohori?!” Tamahome called after him but the man continued to speed walk. Nuriko came along a moment later and looked from Hotohori to Tamahome.
“What happened?” He questioned before Tamahome regained his posture.
“Kana disappeared in a white light and I told him, than he just hurried off.” Tamahome explained before they heard a door slam down the hallway a little ways. Quietly Nuriko and Tamahome went down the hall and creaked the door open to see Hotohori sitting at a cherry wood desk looking at the necklace.
“Sire?” Nuriko whispered before Hotohori sat the necklace down on the desk and stood by the window looking out. The two entered wearily looking from the desk to Hotohori frequently.

Kana stood on the street corner in the rain looking around confused.
“I’m back in Tokyo, but how? How did I get here?” She wondered to her self before beginning to walk along. Her clothing was still the same as it was in Eiyo, which wasn’t necessarily a good thing as she continued to get soaked and the wind blew.
“Kana! Kana!” A male voice called from behind her. Kana turned to see Dani running towards her full speed his right arm waving. “What are you wearing? Come on I’ll take you home.” He took out an umbrella and held it over the two as they walked to his car. Once they were in the car Dani started up the engine and merged with the traffic in the street. “Dear god what happened to your hand?” He demanded looking at the bloody mess in her lap. Kana reverted her attention from what lay beyond the window to her hand than back.
“Nothing, just a scratch. Dani do you know Keisuke Yuki?” She questioned knowing they went to the same college.
“Yeah? Why do you ask?” He looked at the girl out of the corner of his eye still not believing what he had told her earlier.
“Are you friends with him?”
“Yeah, why are you so interested in Keisuke all of the sudden?” He eyed her suspiciously.
“You got any paper?”
“Yeah in my backpack, it’s in the back.” He nodded towards the backseat before Kana reached around and grabbed the bag; pulling out a legal pad she took a pen out of the front and put the bag back.
“Can you take me to his house? I need to talk to Miaka.” She whispered as they stopped at a four-way intersection.
“Yeah, I guess.” He whispered switching blinkers as Kana wrote on the pad of paper. The two pulled up in front of a nice sized apartment building, before getting out and knocking on the door.
“Hello?” Miaka and Keisuke’s mom answered the door.
“Hi are Miaka and Keisuke home?” Kana questioned before the woman stepped to the side and the two entered.
“Upstairs in Keisuke’s room I believe.” She nodded towards the stairs before the two thanked her and headed upstairs.
“Miaka?” Kana opened the door partially to see Miaka kneeling on the ground a cup of tea in her hand and Keisuke sitting at the desk eating a bowl of soup.
“Hey Keisuke.” Dani smiled opening the door the rest of the way.
“Dani? Hey man what are you doing here?” Keisuke questioned standing up.
“Well Kana said she needed to see your sis’.” Dani explained nodding to Kana who was now kneeling next to Miaka as the two whispered to each other.
“What are you doing back here? Did Suzaku bring you?” Miaka questioned.
“No, it was a white light but Miaka can you do me a favor?” Kana held out a piece of paper folded up. “When you get back can you give this to Hotohori?” She asked handing the paper to Miaka.
“Uh… sure. But Kana why don’t you go back with me?”
“I, I just can’t not anymore.” Kana shook her head before standing. “Can you please just make sure he gets it, maybe it will help him understand.” She whispered before smiling and walking over to Keisuke and Dani.
“Did you tell her what you needed to?” Dani questioned.
“Yeah, we can leave now.” Kana nodded.
“Hey wait, aren’t you going to introduce me?” Keisuke questioned smiling at Kana.
“Oh, sorry, my names Kana, Keisuke right?” She questioned with a fake smile.
”Yeah, uh nice to meet you.” He shook her hand as if he were being introduced to a man. “So how do you know Miaka?” He questioned before Kana’s smile disappeared.
“We’re, uh, old friends.” Kana stuttered turning to the door. “I’ll see ya around Keisuke and thanks Miaka. Dani I’m gonna walk home okay? I know my way, bye.” She whispered before walking out the door.
“Dang man she’s cute why didn’t you introduce me sooner.” Keisuke questioned trying to look at the girl out the door.
“She prefers guys who don’t drool.” Dani mocked before Keisuke hit him in the arm. “What was that for?” Dani whined rubbing his arm.
“I do not drool.” Keisuke crossed his arms. “So how’d you meet her?” He prodded.
“Uh it’s not important.” Dani let his hand rest at his side and shook his head with his eyes closed.
“I think it is.” He insisted. Miaka got up and brushed by the two.
“I’ll be in my room, thanks for listening Keisuke.” She whispered.
“Miaka, remember what I said.” Keisuke insisted before Miaka nodded and entered her room across the hall. Dani watched after her before turning his attention back to Keisuke who was now in his face.
“Deyah, man don’t do that crap its freaky.” Dani choked.
“So fess up man, how’d you meet her?” He prodded once more before the phone rang. “Got it!” Keisuke yelled before grabbing his portable off of the bed. “Hey man… oh crap I totally forgot, uh hang on a sec.” Keisuke put a hand over the receiver of the phone. “Hey Dani you want to go out with me and Tetsuya? Unless you’ve got plans.” Keisuke raised his eyebrows a couple of times.
“Sure man whatever.” Dani nodded before Keisuke settle things with Tetsuya.
‘Kana, what am I going to do?’ He wondered staring out the window.

Kana arrived at her apartment and went straight to her bathroom to fix up her hand, after wrapping it she stuck her clothes in the washing machine before taking a hot shower. “I’m sorry everyone, I just can’t go back. I need some time to figure my life out.” She said aloud as she soaked. Drying off she crawled into a black pair of silk pajama pants and a black tank top before setting up her alter and whispering the incantation to talk to her “spirit” friend.
“Kana? Are you home now?” Subaru questioned.
“Yes, yes I’m home. I don’t know why but every time I leave or appear I get engrossed in this white light like I’m part of the Byakko seishi or something.” Kana laughed and rolled her eyes as Subaru gasped. “What is it?” She questioned curious as to why she seemed surprised.
“Nothing, so how did things go there?”
“Do you really want to know?” She growled.
“Of course.”
“Well let’s see… umm… I was possessed by a demon, bitched out Hotohori died was brought back to life by Taiitsukun, had a horrible nightmare that everyone was dead, had another fight with Hotohori, tried to make a gazebo collapse on top of me and I think I gave Tamahome a couple bruises too. When I came back Dani found me and I went and saw Miaka at her house and met Keisuke her brother.” Kana stopped as Subaru let out a suppressed cough.
“Is that it?” She questioned.
“Oh yeah I made friends with a servant so yeah that’s pretty much it.” Kana nodded and stared out the window at the storm.
“Well it seems to me like you’ve fallen for him.” At this statement Kana jumped and eyed the candles annoyed.
“What’da you mean?” She growled before the candles dimmed signaling that the “spirit was leaving. “Subaru get your ass back here what did you mean!!??!!” Kana stood and shook a fist in the air.
“Talk to you later Kana.” The voice echoed out before the room was completely dark.
“Bitch.” Kana spat glaring at the candles, getting up she went into her room and crawled into bed for a night of turning, tossing and no sleep.
